{PRO} [Q&A] All Xperia pro/MK16i/a iyokan Related Questions Here

Hello everyone,
if you can understand me it's very difficult digging out pro questions on the arc questions forum. Also some questions are pro specific so cannot be answered by people who are not pro users(me thinks). So please ask all pro related questions here.
Request to mods -- Please make it a sticky
A Requst to everyone.. Please read the questions below before posting.. If you have questions any other than this then please ask otherwise dont crowd up the thread unnecessarily..
Q] How do I unlock my bootloader..?
A] Check this out.. This is the official way to unlock the bootloader
http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/instructions
Q] How do I root my device..?
A] Well there are many ways to get root access on your device.. You can try installing some custom ROMs or you can root the official firmware too. If you want to root the official firmware there are two ways..
1) For locked bootloaders
Make sure you are on firmware .58 or lower.. Firmware .62 cant be rooted with DoomLords root exploit or OneSuperClick.. Then use the DooMLord's root exploit to root your device..
You can get the .42/.58 firmware here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1642480
You can get the DooMLord's root exploit here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1320350
2) For unlocked bootloaders
Best way I would suggest to use a custom ROM but if you want to stick to the stock firmware there is a stock based kernel with root access and recovery. Flash it via flashtool.
You can get the kernel here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1642480
Q] Which kernel or ROM should I use..?
A] This all depends upon you and what type of user you are. You can try flashing different kernels and ROMs and use them for a while(1-2 days) and then decide which ROM suites your use. You can get the list of all the ROMs and kernels on ameer1234567890's thread. If you are too lazy to search it here it is - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1642480
Q] I'm on a SIM locked device and can't unlock my bootloader the official way but I would like to try all these ROMs available what should I do..?
A] Contact Alejandrissimo or Jinx they do it for a small fee.
Q] I see a custom ROM there for the Neo/V and as the pro and Neo/V have almost the same hardware can I flash it on my Pro..?
A] NO.. NEVER DO IT.. Maybe the pro and the Neo/V seem to be same but the hardware and the drivers on both the divices are different.. Dont try to cross flash any of the ROMS or the kernels you might end up losing your device..
More questions to be added soon..
Regards.
Request to the mods. Please add MK16a also on the topic
It might also be a good idea if the OP for this thread could also maintain an index of all other Q&As on Xperia Pro (like is done on Xperia Pro development master thread).

To enter fastboot you need to get your bootloader unlocked you can get it done by visiting the official bootloader unlock site..
http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/instructions
After unlocking the bootloader you can get CWM recovery by flashing the kernel posted here depending upon the firmware you use..

No you can't. You need to use the recommended kernel by the op every time. And the stock ROM in case of Sony is not vanilla.

Hi,
where can I find the most newest Baseband and how do I update it?
Is any Baseband "sufficient" for any Rom or are there specifics I need to know about?

Use the baseband recommended by the author of the OP.. i would personally recommend baseband 64.. it gives a better battery life than others.. you can find baseband 64 in the fxp op..

Difference between FXP and CM
I just don't find an answer to that, perhaps i'm not clever enough, but i've seen the question a couple of times but i never found an answer.
[EDIT]
now i found this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1604170
in the last post there is the conclusion
CM9 is firmware, is a source
FXP is a team which assembles firmware for Xperia phones from cm9 sources making it workable on our smartphones.
Click to collapse
this could only be true for CM9 but not for CM7, because when i look at http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=iyokan there are nightly builds for CM7 and here http://uploaded.to/folder/i4fex9 you can see that they are almost equal by size..
and the changelog for FXP says most of the time only "latest cm 7.2 fixes"..and since i've seen many posts where people said they used the CM7 nightly for their Pro and it was the same as FXP i don't get whats the difference between these two.
Since i did not find any CM9 builds it could be that the conclusion is true for CM9...but since there is no repository for the device at freexperias github i don't think they make changes to the source by themself, just compile it so its CM9 compiled by "Team FXP" if i get it right

After recovering the phone (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1666078)
i now want to flash cm9 by fxp
do i have to flash baseband 62 (http://uploaded.to/folder/yrqfhn)?
then root
then flash kernel
then update.zip via CWM
Is this correct ?
currently on older baseband (NON ROOT)
Please guide x_x

stable Rom for Xperia S locked bootloader? (for using with stock kernel) :)

Hello, I can't change kernel due to locked bootloader so I'm looking for a good Rom from here compatible with stock kernel
which is the most stable, clean, battery friendly and tweaked Rom ?? What do you suggest?
thank you very much!
Locked
A locked bootloader means no flashing at all, not only the kernel can't be changed, the whole system can't be changed - as I know.
No! you are wrong mate, I can flash firmwares, recovery, roms....there is no problem, what I cant change is the kernel. So only a few roms are compatible with locked bootloader
I have seen a few ones, for example, dualcore, XTXperience 3, KKspeed...
thank you anyway
I personally use XTX, as I find it the best one.
However, I think it is against the rules to create threads asking for which ROM is the best.
"What really matters in this world, anyway?"
Against the rules? If that's true I'm sorry, I didn't know!
Well just want some opinions... Thank you for your response anyway . Any more?

Not necessarily against the rules, but its something to avoid a huge load of threads being created only for that.
I will create a thread only for that, later.

I prefer stock rom. I cant see any disadvantage of it.
Underclocked to 972MHz runs lagfree.

Tried using this method:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2144464
Doesn't work
I'm on a rooted LT18i stock ICS.
I'd really appreciate some help.

Would do it gladly but:

As far as I read I need to sim unlock it with pin test I think. So as for now I can't do nothing... Unless U know other way around it

For 4.2 ROMs use Philz Touch 5.15.9, for 4.4 ROMs use latest Philz Touch 6.* or latest CWM or TWRP 2.7.1.0.
And which is best? Try all and make your own decision. Like 99% members here Grab attached fastboot files.

What? Are you read the OP? He ask wich custom rom to install not how to flash recovery or ROM. And if you read the rules you will see comparison in XDA is forbidden
Or you could just tell him your best rom in your opinion...

And have you read his entire post? He doesn't know how to flash ROM. And if he doesn't know how to flash a ROM do you think he knows how (and which) recovery to flash? And to comparison: did I compare any ROM?. A perfectly know it's forbiden here. And everybody like something else, so no point of comparing them...
