(I did the international root version first time. ANY HELP?)
I tried this rooting thing of putting ics on my phone and went into download mode on my Samsung Galaxy s2 from T MOBILE and the write failed on Odin. So I unplugged and restarted my phone and it was stuck at the Upgrade problem encountered on my phone. So I plugged my phone back in again and tried it again and it failed yet again.
I unplugged my phone. Turned it off.
When I turned it back on, or at least tried. It wouldn't. It won't turn on now and is completely blank. It still won't turn on.
I have tried:
Soft reset
Removing battery for ten minutes.
Booting into recovery mode.
NOTHING WILL HAPPEN.
Please help!!!!! This was my first time to root and it went for the worst. This was my christmas present
If you can still get into download mode, you are fine.
Odin CW recovery and flash a compatible rom.
There is no ICS for the T-mobile version of the SGS2.
Look here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1311194
[HOWTO] ROOT T-Mobile SGSII via ODIN -- Updated Recovery
Open Odin on your PC.
To get back into download mode pull the battery, insert the battery, press and hold Vol up and Vol down, plug USB cable into phone. Do not press the power button.
ICS is not available for the tmo sg 2 yet so you'll be waiting like everyone else. There are a few Nice ROMs in the dev section though.
If you still can't get into download mode then warranty exchange, jigging, or paperweight are your only options. Good luck.

Stuck power button -_-
you just tried me sir.....
no disrespect but...
that means you think im stupid enough to not know if my power button is broken..... -_-
I FIXED IT YALL!!!! freeking hours upon hours were spent here
ill tell you how i fixed it...
well first i read something about a JIG... a usb jig that makes the phone do directly into download mode....
and i was thinking... hmmm i think iv seen this before automatic download mode...
ah ha! i know i have this thick LG micro usb cable that for some reason if i have low battery it makes it go into download mode..
So... while it was pluged into the wall outlet with ebay battery charger/ usb power outlet and sliped the battery in right quick.
So the cable hooked up to power outlet put in first and quickly the battery is slipped in to make it go into download mode..
however... i only get like 2 seconds before it will shut offf...
so... i turned on odin on my pc and used that cable from my pc. and then hooked up phone to pc via that LG micro usb cable and sliped in the battery fast! then it was in download mode and then i clikced start on the odin ( file preselected) then it will fail and some stuff willbe messed up on the phone and then you can try it again. however this time instead of a download screen its a this phone has problems with recovery and then connect to kies screen.
then use odin while on that screen and proceede.
and boom pass!
however when i put on stock tmobile ics.. my calling wasnt working... WTF!
so i had to put on CWM recover back on the phone via odin..
then i used the backup file i previously made...
Im un bricked!
YES YALL! im unbricked and if this **** bricks again its going on craigs list bc i know it will last a few days before it bricks again
thank you anyways xda.... im not high tech if you cant tell but i can put clues together..
boot loop problem was but no more
Hay had the same darn problem I fixed it by doing hard reset(volume down, menu button, and power button released on first vibration)
Then I went into cwm and went to advanced menu and mounted all but external sd and formatted each one.
Then reflashed stock 2.3.6 GB ROM. Fixed in about 30 min. My phons has not bricked again yay for me
My devices
Cricket zio running bare bones
Samsung galaxy II running rebelrom
T mobile sgs II running stock root 2.3.6
Because I have not found a ROM I like yet!!
Reformatting worked for me

Success!
My bootloop was caused by a bad CWM factory reset or cache wipe with CWM version 6.0.1.9. Nandroid restore from version 6.0.1.9 was of no help as it failed on the MD5 checksum. Odin flashed older CWM, version 5.0.2.6. In CWM version 5.x, reformatting as laniclamoore suggested and restoring nandroid worked for me.
After getting the boot loop solved, I ran DARKSIDE's cache wipe to fix the shutdown hang on pink splash screen 'Goodbye!'. Hang at shutdown was a separate problem caused by CWM version 5.0.2.6.
Lessons learned: CWM sometimes breaks stuff. Good to keep old version of CWM the ones that correspond to the nandroid.
What a pain but it is great to have the Android community to help.
@laniclamoore, Thanks a bunch. I thought my S II was going to be permanently boot looping paperweight.
On T-mobile Samsung Galaxy S II, stock root ICS ROM, 4.0.3.
FIXED: Vibrating Problem on Power Switch onSamsung Galaxy S2 (SGH-T989)
I had the similar problem with my SGH-T989. Searched the web and tried a few feasible solutions, but to no avail. Until NOW: Please follow the YouTube link (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pqBgbN8NLjI) which provides a FIX to the Power Switch.
It WORKED for me, hope it works for you too.

I have a Samsung W which is not rooted, with Stock Rom as i bought it. Everything was ok until yesterday. I put it in my pocket and the phone was Suddenly turned off. Since then the phone won't turn on except that the screen sometimes flashes when pushing numerous times the power button.
When i press the Vol+ + Center Button + Power Button to enter Recovery mode nothing happens.
I will charge it overnight to see if something changes tomorrow.
Need Help please!
Finally Turned it on, But Samsung Kies and ODIN seem not to working at all. Samsung Kies stacks at "Connectind" & ODIN detecs the phone successfully, but when the phone restarts it won't turn on, i have to remove battery and Open it in Download mode again.
Try to enter download mode press vol down + home+ power button if you can enter download mode flash it with odin

maybe the power button has the problem.
I disassembled the phone and the power button is working fine. I can't enter Dwonload Mode. the phone won't turn on at all :/
Since it is not flashed / rooted & with stock rom, just sent in to a service center, it's the safest thing to do right now i think.
After that you can do with it what you want
Hello! I cant sent it to a service center as it has a big mark on the top of it and they will ask me to pay in order to fix it. I finally Managed to Turn it on in DOWNLOAD MODE. I tried http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1467128 this thread with ODIN and Samsung KIES. Samsung KIES stacks at "Connecting". ODIN detects the phone, downloads data , but when the phone restarts is dead. I have to remove battery and turn it on in Downloading Mode

What 'big mark' making it cannot be sent back to Samsung lol? Maybe you should install CWM and do a full wipe first before you flashed the ROM with Odin (anyway sending it back to Samsung will still be the best solution as you may accidentally void the warranty when you are trying to fix it)
Well, i believe for ODIN to work first u have to kill Kies Process using the Task manager or you will get some conflict between the two.
Also, if your phone has a scratch on top of it, then your fine. However, if it has a big DENT or if it is broken somewhere, then they will probably assume it was a problem due to a fall or something. However you can always try and send it to the service center and they will probably sort it out or replace your phone as a last resort (even if it has a scratch on it xD).

What did you do to get your Galaxy W started?
So, my Galaxy S3 suddenly shut off on me, so I tried to reboot it, and it would just say "Galaxy s3" then nothing would show. So I figured it was a software brick and I can just restore a backup. When I tried to access Recovery Mode, it would show that its trying to boot into Recovery, but nothing would happen. So I figured I can just go into Download Mode and restore it through ODIN to get all the partitions working again. It would go to Download Mode for a few seconds, and then just shut off on me before I can even do anything. Everytime I take out the battery and put it back in, it tries to auto boot, but it never gets passed the Samsung s3 logo. Do you think this is a software or hardware brick? And would any of you know how I should go about fixing this?
Thanks a bunch

I agree, the only way it should turn on when you replace the battery is if power was held down. It would explain everything else you mentioned as well. Try gently knocking it back out. Or if comfortable with it, open the device to have a closer kook.

i'm experiencing a similar issue. I can only get any result while it's plugged in. it wont boot past the second splash screen, I got it into download mode and flashed the stock package from sammobile.com with no change. the phone keeps trying to boot into recovery after flashing stock but it goes to the android with the open chest screen and reboots and tries again over and over. i've taken the phone apart and seen nothing wrong, no corrosion, no water damage and i've even replaced the battery with no success. i tried flashing clockworkmod recovery, the flash was successful but it still wont even boot to recovery. the power button isnt stuck, i can manipulate it when i have the bare motherboard in my hands and still it's fine. would replacing the power switch have any affect? please any thoughts would be appreciated
edit: since flashing stock, plugging the phone into the computer with oem cable causes it to vibrate intermittently. holding power causes it to try recovery mode. running windows 7 with samsung drivers properly installed and adb recognizes my galaxy s2 and captivate no problems. someone mentioned on a post i read about using a 3 part stock rom, modem, pda and phone to flash instead of the all in one tar file, any thoughts?
another edit. this phone has never to my knowledge been rooted or had any kernel/rom flashed onto it. as far as i know it's stock from Wind mobile, 3 months past warranty
So i decided to flash CWM recovery on my Note 3 via CWM (I had phillz recovery installed already), now the phone just wont boot up. It keeps saying Recovery Booting above the Note 3 logo for 2 seconds, then the phone restarts again showing the same message. I pulled the battery out and then inserted it back in but it boots the phone automatically with the same recovery booting message and restarts every 2 seconds. I cannot boot into recovery or put the phone in Download mode. Have I finally screwed my phone up? Any help would be very appreciated.
Can you Boot into download mode and Odin to stock?

I cannot. I have the battery of the phone out right now. As soon as i put the battery in the phone, it tries to reboot into recovery without me even pressing the power button. Then it again shuts off and tries to restart every 2-3 seconds.

Just some additional info, I flashed CWM recovery through Rom Manager. After flashing it, it asked to reboot the phone. As soon as the phone rebooted, i started having this issue.
I'm in a similar situation. I used to be able to use the phone controls (power-home-Vol Up) to be able to go into recovery mode, but even that has stopped functioning. The only way to get the phone to boot normally after that is to pull battery, put the phone in download mode and then cancel download mode to boot up normally.

I think the only way to get your phone into download mode now would be
to get a USB Jig from eBay or some online store.
They are under $5 bucks shipped.
Once you have that you would simply remove the battery from your
phone and then plug in the Jig before putting the battery back in.
The usb Jig is basically meant to be used for those
phones which will not go into download mode any
other way.
I have a Jig and as soon as it's plugged into the phone when the phone
is powered down it goes into download mode within 2-3 seconds.
Soon as its in download mode you can remove the jig and start a
clean Odin flash of the official stock firmware for your phone.
Good luck!

Thanks for that USB Jig suggestion. I guess that is my last hope.

Per suggestion from Misterjunky, I've now been successful in installing the Stock Tmobile 4.4.2 NB4 formware that I downloaded from sammobile. I used Odin 1.85 to install that on the Note 3. So far, the phone looks functional again.
So pressing power, vol down and menu doesn't get you into download? Have you tried holding them for at least 30 seconds?
I had this happen to me when I messed up flashing twrp. Pull the battery for 30 minutes, then put the battery in while holding power home and vol down.
That's what worked for me.

I encountered the same issue after flashing CWM Touch to my SM-N900T (Note3-Aus) running Infamous Rom on the BioShock kernel. After being stuck in the loop for a fair while I removed the battery, went to grab a cup of tea before completely raging at the phone, went back and put the battery back in. The phone did not boot automatically this time, a good sign I thought to myself. I then went on to hold down VolumeDown + Home + Power to see if I could get into download mode. I successfully booted into download mode and selected the reboot option. My Note3 then went on to boot successfully. Hopefully this helps :fingers-crossed:
I recently had the same issue......heres step by step:
1. with the battery OUT, grab the usb and plug into phone and computer
2 press volume down, power, and home at the same time.you should be in download mode at this point, and just press volume up to get into download mode.
3. open kies. and at this point you'd want to restore back sto stock as follows:
4. go to tools, firmware upgrade and intialisation
5. follow the on screen direction and then just wait.
6. if you want to re root, then feel free to once the phone is up and running.
i have tried this method so many times and hasnt failed me yet. IF this has helped anyone, please press the thank you button!:fingers-crossed:
I resolved the problem by flashing the phone back to T-mobile stock using Odin. In my case, the recovery was corrupted and hence the issue. After flashing back to stock, I was then able to root and install a TWRP recovery successfully.

Same problem has happened to me, do you guys know if the jigs are universal? The ones I see on amazon and ebay dont list the note 3 at all so I just want to be safe. Since upgrading to nf9 the recoveries have given me major issues, TWRP was really buggy so I switched back to CWM and this happens.
Scratch that, just rebooted. I would still like to know if its universal though, in case this happens again. Doesnt hurt to be prepared
You're a life saver, Thanks a ton

Note 3 (sm-n900w8) will not go into recovery mode after CWM Flash
Helllo Sorry if this is not in the proper place I have not had much experience posting.
my Phone is a Note 3 (sm-n900w8) Canada (rogers)
running Lollipop 5.0
base version n900w8vlu2doc4
kernel 3.4.0-4348112
[email protected]#1
build number ..... lrx21v.n900w8vlu2doc4
ap: n900w8vlu2doc4
I Flashed CF Auto root first (CF-Auto-Root-hltecan-hlteub-smn900w8.tar) All went well and I got root access
Then I Flashed CWM ( n900-cwm-recovery-6.0.5.0-kk_L5.0(0812)) and all seemed to go well but .. I could not get into
recovery mode. when I pressed vol up + Home + power key at the same time it went directly to download modes second screen..( the one that is ready for you to hit start on odin.) ...
I was able to reboot and try several times with the same result.
I then went and got the CWM app and tried to enter form there to only get stuck on the download mode without being able to reset.
then I flashed the CWM again and was back to being able to reset but not being able to get into recovery mode.
I updated CWM recovery setup from the app to the latest 6.0.4. and then tried to back up my current rom ... this let to a boot loop that said something like ..... Kernel is not seandroid enforcing...
once again I was able to get into download mode and had to re flash CWM and get back to my original problem ... not being able to get into download mode
Can anyone help me figure this out
Thanks
Hi my coworker has a sprint galaxy note 2 stock and not rooted. His phone shut down and when he started it back up it was stuck in a bootloop. I tried to flash the stock tar file via Odin and it failed. I don't think usb debugging has been checked in developing options, is their a way to fix this?
Thanks.
Andre
Have you tried using the (incredibly awesome) instruction set and downloads from Billard's (in)famous MC2 build?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2086769
No but I'm going to try it now, I'll keep you posted.
Thanks.
Andre
Now I can't boot into recovery, I flashed twrp and it worked for a while and now it doesn't. I tried to refresh twrp but no luck.
Almost sounds like this could be a hardware issue.
By chance, does he have an extra battery? Or maybe another person in your office (or wherever you are with this) who can let him try their battery as a test? Last summer, my battery ballooned when I took a trip to Colorado up in the mountains (stock Samsung battery) and caused bootloops and just plain crashed my phone. Got a new Duracell from Batteries Plus ($40) and immediately fixed the "problem". You might want to see if he can try another battery next before attempting another software fix.
However, if that doesn't work, have you tried to immediately boot into recovery/download mode after turning on the phone? Then use odin to root/flash ROM/whatever you need?
1) turn off your device (pull battery "just in case" for 10 seconds too)
2) press this button combination: volume up, power button and home button. hold until download mode shows up
3) press volume up to enter the download mode (or volume down to cancel and reboot the device)
I guess that could be the problem. I tried Ballard's MC2 build but it didn't work it put the phone in emergency mode and I had to use kies to get it out of that and now I'm back to a bootloop and stock recovery. I think I'm going to try Philz recovery and flash from there
