Just ordered an S II and gathering some accessories for it while waiting for it to show up. The case that comes with the Galaxy Note which has a leather front flap and a back that's actually a replacement battery cover seems so perfect a case to me I was wondering if there's a similar case for the S II? Something that minimizes bulk by utilizing the battery cover as the backside of the case, in other words.
I remember that there was a leather folio cover on eBay made by a Korean company called AnyMode. I also remember it was quite expensive. Thought it might help.

Made a review for everyone of this awesome case!

If anybody was wondering, I got mine in today and it does fit with an SGP screen protector installed.
How thick compared to tpu?
Someone picked one up today for me and will be returning it tomorrow. Very cheap and unattractive. This is what I have come to expect from siedo so no surprise here. Ordering Ballistic.

I had one of these for my Evo 3D and loved it. I'm rocking the combo case from Sprint now. It's decent but doesn't protect the top and bottom of the phone.

I feel that with the exception of the volume button cover and the case being soft instead of hard plastic, the TPU case is just as elegant and much more wallet friendly.
I am satisfied with my seidio case. It offers some protection without adding a lot of bulk. It also has a matched holster available and I am able to put it in the holster and remove it with one hand. This is something that I could not do with the sprint case.
I use the Seido holster and a TPU case.
Perfect Combo. TPU fits perfectly in holster.

Which holster do you use - active or surface?
I want to try this case, but I need to know how it compares to the tpu in regards to thickness. Will it be thinner than a TPU?
Did you order yours from Seidio or Amazon?

Surface holster. Fits perfectly.

Spridell, can we get some pictures of that combination please...

I got the same exact case & holster at Best Buy with their platinum branding. As you may already know Best BUY platinum brand stuff & seidio stuff is the same, just a different brands label. Only $34.99 at the big blue box. It looks exactly the same except where the one on the video says seidio, this one has the Pt inside a box like platinum on a element chart.

Does anybody else have a gap where the 2 pieces some together on their case? I noticed that there is a small gap on both sides after installing the case. I installed it properly and you can hear it latch when you press on the spot on the back. I dropped my phone and when it landed the bottom piece came off completely. I was hoping for a tighter fit.
I ordered mine from ebay and got it yesterday. The case is awesome. Its light and blends with the phone perfectly. Thanks for the review QBKing!!
is this thinner than the TPU case?
Is it just on/off or are there little stickies and crap for the phone to fit snugly?
What is the wear/tear like? Does it disintegrate or pop off when you drop it three feet or so onto the concrete? (TPU case remains intact)

I purchased the the Platinum Series case (seidio re-branded) from best buy $34.99 and included the belt clip. I like the matte feel of the case and its looks however the fitment isn't there. everything seems snug except the area near the bottom where the top and bottom piece meet. The tolerances are too large and allows for a fair bit of slop. One friend said upon showing him my phone "oh my your phone is already falling apart" (referring to the sloppy case)
I did however just come up with a fix for this. I lined the part with a bit of electrical tape to snug up the fitment, now feels rock solid! and I really like the case more!
I can include pics if there is any interest.
I bought the flip cover case because i like the protection it gives the screen, but there was not enough protection on the corners. I had a cheapo $2 TPU case that I had ordered a while back and modified it for the hinge of the flip cover. The cuts are ugly but its a $2 case so I wasnt to worried.
Same tpu case I had on my sg2, I liked it a lot.

Looks good I will have to try that out.

i might hack one up for fun too
Update: I dont think I care for the flip cover. The material that goes around the outside edge is coming off at the hinge and looks like poop. Also its a difficult to take pictures because the case blocks the camera, so you have to let it hang down out of the way.
so i hear zagg is not way to go....after many forums searches i still cant find what really covers the entire phone and a lot of the threads are dated
anyone have current info on what does? and what is the best? if anyone has pics id appreciate it
also, are all of these thin enough to fit in the car dock? it looks like carbon fiber ones might be too bulky
Seidio offer a two piece solution that I still uses from time to time. I have the plastic kickstand version (before they went with the metal setup). Works well while being as slim as can be.
EDIT. I'm talking about the extended case version.
I'm also using a GNEX right now and I do have a Seidio case with the plastic kickstand. I love the case as well.
I use Platinum Series Deluxe.
Available at Best Buy. It's 3 pieces in the case itself, and then has a holster.
It's a plastic/rubber sleeve, then you put a silicone cover over that, and then you top off the silicone with a hard plastic cover that secures it all down.
Much better than otterbox, in my opinion.
However, a screen protector will be needed.
Covers all buttons, leaves the kick stand available, covers the charging port but has a way to fold it over so your phone can be charged with the case on, covers the headphone jack with a way to fold it over and access it with the case on, even covers the camera lense and also has a built in flap door that you can easily pull back to use your camera.
I recommend this case to anyone.
No more bulky than an otterbox either.

Ditto! Any one have any luck on protection without a case? I'm unable to find one that doesn't make the phone bulky.
Only thing about the 3 piece seidio case I didn't Like was that the 2 pieces that slide over the phone causes the screen protector to move too .. letting air bubbles get in.. dirt too

+1. I've got a Seidio on both my Thunderbolt and Raze Maxx, and couldn't happier.

sieltst since
Just carry it naked--mine has survived over two years in a pocket with car keys, and used Tbolts are like fifty bucks on Craigslist.
I just bought a Note II on ebay and it comes with those OEM samsung battery door with attached leather flip cover.... no standard battery cover
Would it look awful if I just cut out the leather part?
Has anyone else done this?
I want to cut it so that i can slip on another cover I bought, which obviously wont fit the phone if the leather part is still attached
You can buy a battery door for like $10 on ebay
Cutting the leather off will not really work. The back is slightly shaped different to hold the leather and back together so a case wouldn't fit.

If you slip another TPU type cover, it will work fine. I have the Samsung flip cover with a Mercury TPU over the whole thing and they fit fine. The only issue is that I needed to cut the flip cover side of the TPU cover to accomodate the flip to work. So I basically did the reverse of what the OP is intending to do.
Once you cut the flip cover off, you will have an odd looking side but with the extra cover, it should be completely covered...
On the other hand, I would also suggest buying a new back cover and do away with all this cutting and modding cover non-sense...
Just got an SIII not too long and I was wondering if there are any cover cases that are similiar to ones for tablets? So ones that are pretty slim and have magnetic covers that protect the screen in case of a drop. I'm not too worried about the body getting damaged since it is plastic, but I am concerned about the screen.
