Toggle Widget that works - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

So I'm shopping for a Widget that toggles Mobile and GPS without having to be in the settings page. I don't know why Google didn't throw Mobile into the "Power Controls" but it's an absolute must.
I've tried:
http://www.appbrain.com/app/widgetsoid2-x/com.jim2
which Mobile doesn't work
http://www.appbrain.com/app/extended-controls/com.extendedcontrols
Costs, so unclear if it works. I would purchase it if I knew ICS controls worked properly.
Anyone have something working for them?

Buy it and try it. If it doesn't work, get a refund within the time frame.
It's also $0.99......

Someone mentioned in another thread, but Elixir 2.. Let me know if the app above works however.

I bought and took the refund as they send you to the settings for GPS, and with Mobile they offer renaming the APN, which doesn't even work. So basically it's the same as any free one.

BAMF LTE widget works perfectly. It doesn't look very pretty, but it's totally functional.
Just google "bamf lte widget" because I can't post links... It's the top hit.
Flash it with CWM and it'll be in your widget list when you reboot.

no toggle widget will toggle GPS. it was a change that happened in froyo and it's now not possible for a third party app to change the GPS.
same goes for network switching. even if your rooted it's not possible. only system apps can change those. been like this for a while.
only way around it is something like bamf that installs itself as a system app.

Search for GPS toggle widget (root) by Jakar. Works on android HD ROM.

Oh, whoops, misread the original question.
The AOKP ROM and some other CM9 based ROMs have built in data and gps toggles in the notifications panel... I don't know other than that

Is your phone rooted? It doesn't work on my which isn't rooted yet.

Yes my phone is rooted but I think the name "Root toggle" is a misnomer because the app has never asked for root permissions.

I'm currently using Widgetsoid2.x and the data toggle works just fine for me. I have confirmed this on both rooted stock 4.0.2 as well as CM9 alpha 4.0.3.
In neither case did I need to touch the data toggle settings within Widgetsoid. In order for it to work, you must install it as a system app. Despite what it says on the dev's website about requiring adb push, I was able to simply use Root Explorer to drag the Widgetsoid2.x.apk to /system/app and then click on it, install, and reboot (for good measure).
Hope this works you as well

Not true. Network data switch works just fine with one click on GN with Elixir 2 unrooted. And GPS switch worked just fine in Froyo with Elixir 1.x.

when I was using Go Launcher I used a switch widget that worked great on my froyo phone

Try Power Toggles

Both GPS (via exploit) and Mobile Data CAN be toggled without root.
So if you are really looking for something that does that and you can't find it,
PM me and I'll see what I can do for ya!
(I am a beginning developer).
Btw, my first app is in-the-make.
It's a no-root extended powermenu, with poweroff, 4-way-reboot menu and QuickSettings.
The last one is just like it is in Android 4.2, but extended with a features you'd expect in a toggle app. GPS and Data toggles are already working, so PM me if you want it

Reasons not to update to Baseband version T889UVALK8 ?

So anyone not updating http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-4962 & why? - Thnx
I restored the factory rom via Kies last night and updated today. Multi Window seems to work better than the hacks and so far smooth sailing.
May stay stock again since I can just disable bloatware via Android. But I do miss having in things so I may re-root of its safe to on this update with previous methods.

Because each and every rom I have tried has something broken in it so far. Mostly revolves around the s-pen or modification to the systemui. They are like buying a 4x4 truck for the one day a year you want to go offroading, at the expense of loosing power windows.
We have the option to add unlimited apps without flashing as well now. Just an option for those who dont want to play with the counter.

Ok Thanks for that. I just couldn't really see any flaws with the hacked version. But to each their own. You certainly are entitled to your own opinion! And I truly appreciate your feedback.
I like the hacked version better. Also I tried flashing the ota and I just plain and simple didn't like it. I was experiencing some quirky bugs. So I just went back to teshx stock n7105 rom where I'm completely happy.

Funny that you say that this device is giving you the feeling of more freedom from PC. For this device is a PC (Personal Computer). A Pocket Personal Computer aka PPC that is. Or what I like to call ("coin") it as a "Mobile (WiFi/Cellular) Pocket Personal Computer" aka MPPC.
There is long history with PPC in the industry. And Galaxy Note 2 shows how far PPC technology as come. Where do we go from here?
Enjoy!

Agreed I actually have called it a Mobile Pocket PC before in the forums & it can provide more freedom from traditional PCs because it is a PC that is pocketable hence highly mobile. When I tell people (after they ask) that I paid ~$698 after tax they say for a phone & I say no for a pocketable computer with phone functionality & that's what their limiting iPhones without carrier subsidy would begin at before tax http://store.apple.com/ca/browse/home/shop_iphone/family/iphone5 & not to forget about their overpriced service plans instead of my $30/mo no contract plan..
I remember in 2005 being impressed by my HTC made Dell Axim 51v with Skype but this (not the artificially limited iPhone) really is an amazing evolution still delivering wows but I wouldn't mind stereo speakers & a built-in HD projector (or at least very compact projector attachment for the Note3 or 4..) if it is still so pocketable.
Also considering other Samsung devices like http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-ATIV-Smart-Pro-700T/dp/B0098O9TRO as I like convergence form factors & want a tabletbook but still need to research whether it is ready for primetime yet..
The reason I haven't updated is because I'll lose the amazing sound that pegasus kernel provides.
Also undervolting is nice.
I installed the OTA update to my stock unrooted T-Mo GN2 yesterday. Multi-window is nice but I have to train myself to actually use it now.
Observations:
1. T-Sam added a new Multi-window toggle to the pull-down notification bar toggles.
2. T-Sam REMOVED the Sync toggle from the pull-down notification bar toggles.
3. The reboot after upgrade somehow disabled my Sync setting and I couldn't find ANY place in settings to reenable Sync. If anyone knows where in the STOCK Settings to do that, please let me know where.
4. After about an hour of putzing around through every freakin' setting on the GN2, I finally remembered I had the Settings Switcher add-on app for Dolphin Browser and used that to reenable Sync.
So, my first question is: WTF was T-Sam thinking when they removed the Sync toggle? My second question is: Is there a free 1x1 widget or app out there that I can add to my GN2 that does nothing more than toggle Sync on/off? I've already found that ability in the Dolphin add-on, but don't want to continue down that path. I've seen several Settings toggle apps in Play, but none I've found can offer that solitary 1x1 Sync toggle to add to my home screen.
You can use Elixir 2 or widgetsoid.

How to use wifi hotspot with root and xposed

Here are some instructions on how to use Wifi Hotspot after you are rooted.
install Xposed Framework from HERE
after you have xposed framework setup, download Wanam Xposed from the Play Store and install it. Go into Exposed framework app, go to modules and check (enable) the wanam mod. Reboot.
After you are rebooted, go into Wanam xposed app, goto system, check "Disable tether provisioning. Reboot
this allows you to use hotspot without provisioning, but if you go to the verizon hotspot icon or configuration, it sees it and shuts it off. So we will add a hotspot quick panel icon to turn it on.
Download and launch SQLite Editor
1. Open up SQLite Editor - Select the Apps tab on top and scroll down until you see Settings Storage and click it
2. Click on Ssettings.db
3. Click on system
4. Click on the search icon on top right
5. Type in the word notification in the Filter Value field and click ok
6. Once the results load up, tap on notification_panel_active_app_list (should be the bottom result) and click on the pencil icon on top to edit
7. In the Value field, you'll see all your toggles listed. All you have to do is add the word WiFiHotspot <-- just like that, with the three caps, with a semi colon right after. Make sure there's no space after the semi colon. Once you add WiFiHotspot, click the save button.
8. Close SQLite editor and reboot your phone. Once your phone boots back up, you should now have the Wifi toggle in quick settings like mine below!
Now, to use it, click on the quick panel icon you just made called wifi hotspot. Hit Home so you go to the home screen. Dont go to the Verizon Hotspot icon or the Hotspot configure, just use it like that and it works good. Takes a minute or two to establish internet access after your computer connects but it works, I have confirmed it.

I have to admit that I'm not the most informed when it comes to wifi tethering, so sorry if this is a dumb question...
But does this prevent Verizon from tracking the tethering? The only reason I ask ask is that I still have unlimited.

Has anyone tested Foxfi? I have used it with my previous phones when rooted but currently it pops up the Verizon subscription thing. Would I still need to check the "Disable tether provisioning" box in Xposed? Normally I just check the box within Foxfi to start tethering.

Recommend apps/tweaks/ROMS/etc to improve the Nexus 7 experience

So it would be cool if everyone recommended cool stuff for the Nexus 7 that you think improves the overall experience of that it's a must have. Let's try to take full advantage of everything this tablet and Android has to offer.
Recommend apps/tweaks/ROMS and anything you think will make this tablet even better than it is. And don't forget to mention what is you're recommending.
My list:
- A custom kernel that allows double tap to wake on the screen. It's awesome and works every time. ElementalX has this.
- Plex app if you own a NAS that works as a media hub. The latest version of the app is just awesome.
- Rebooter app and screen off app. Thanks to this and the previous kernel I don't need to use the power button never again. You need to be rooted for rebooter to work.
- Auto hide screen buttons app. You need to be rooted.
- AdBlock Plus app. You need to be rooted.
- Emulators apps for old games. There's a new one called reicast for dreamcast games!
- Any battery app that can display percentage on the top bar.
That's it for now. Let's see your recommendations.

What do you mean is it an added feature? It's one minor option among loads of options within lots of menus. Just look through every menu and turn on/off things as you like, from beginning to end, and then you won't be confused about features.
GravityBox is an amazing module and I've noticed no difference in battery life since installing it. It's always quietly running in the background from the moment you boot (just like many stock/core system apps) and adds a plethora of options and extra features. Many people, including myself, stopped using custom roms like ParanoidAndroid and Cyanogenmod and OAKP just because GravityBox has most of their features and is easy to install/use on nearly anything.
+1 on that. ExposedFramework, GravityBox and some Candy Shop...makes it sweet, On my CleanRom 2.6 imo

Data toggle for Lollipop 5.1.1. Work around?

Today, I took the plunge and update to 5.1.1 from 4.4. I know data toggle will not work. Any work around???
Using Nova and make a shortcut to Data Usage but still 3-4 click to disable or enable data.
There's an app in the play store called Quickpanel Manager. It's not free but it will enable the data toggle in the drop down notification window. I even uninstalled the app and it is still available so it must remove the stock ROM's block. When I left the app installed, a reboot would change the app's settings.
It's worth the couple bucks it costs. Hope this helps.

Thanks jack man! It won't let me actually thank your post. The app says "Post thank action deny."

Thank you.
Got it up and running. Needed to make a few changes (enabling certain apps with Package Disable Pro), but other than that it seems snappy. Will have to see how some of the extras work before I can form a solid opinion.
Does wifi calling and volte (HD voice) still work with the official Tmobile nougat release?

Just works from stock?
What type of ROM Controls are there
Sent from my SM-G935T using XDA-Developers Legacy app
what is this exactly, is this just to add a feature to my stock nougat. I dont want to damage my phone
So do you have to use both the pc and phone or was the directions trying to say you could choose the method?
No replies here folks.... Somebody is going to have to step up and do the mod and report back for us on tmobile. We need a volunteer.

I linked the original thread I just posted it here because it works on our devices also. Instead of trying to be ungrateful maybe take a moment and read. My directions are correct, and very understandable to anyone who knows how to read and most importantly follow directions as stated.
Guess I don't know how to read. Thanks for posting this though.

Actually your directions are not that easy to read or understand.
The OP states a list of steps to take "from PC" and none of those steps other than running the bat files are done from your PC. They are all things don't from phone.

They are clear to those actually looking to use it Instead of just looking to argue a useless point the first person to try it got it and so did a few others. As I stated I quoted the original post so anything you are not clear on then you ask there. This is only to let us tmobile users know it works. Now I will go back to life outside of XDA and leave you to argue with yourself.
Question did it work for you? Did you try? Do you already understand adb? If yes to any above then you should be able to follow directions

????some needs a cookie and attention. You go girl??????????
If you guys are having trouble getting it to work you could always just install nova launcher and make it pretty much identical if not better than the original pixel launcher. Or else there is another app called nougat UI for Android that looks promising but I haven't tried it yet.

**** guuurl, err body likes cookies! But I'm not in any dire need of attention. I just don't like it when someone make unnecessarily rude comments to a new member to XDA is looking for some help...
If you start a thread, even when you're just giving a link to more info people will ask questions. I've been there, started a few compilation threads over the past decade on XDA and it never fails... people hope that since you compiled the list you have the info... Not to mention it is a Verizon mod and tmobile people will have different questions. But you enjoy being an ass... I'm gonna run to Fred Meyers and grab some cookies.

I would reflash without wiping anything first. If it is only the launcher FC, a reflash without wiping might fix what ever went sideways during the initial install.

I've had trouble with Pixel launcher as well. No problems during the beta, but after "official" it mysteriously stopped working.
Working awesome here! Nice and smooth!
I found the easiest way to install this through adb is, make sure you have adb/fastboot installed on your computer, DL the play store mod file, extract it and all you have to do is CLICK on the play store rom.bat and it automatically opens the command window and the directions on there will guide you through the process.
MAKE SURE your home screen grid on the TouchWiz launcher is set to 5 x 5 as that is the default grid on the Pixel launcher. If it is set different on the TW launcher it messes with the Pixel launcher viewing. It offsets the app icon grid and makes icon s look crooked on the screen and widgets are all out of place also.
