i know, but i cant because rom manager installed the bml version, so i cant get into recovery, at all

That doesn't make much sense...it would've flashed cwm to nothingness, so it shouldntve worked.

Lol wow completely overlooked that point didn't I... looks like your only option right now is to odin back to stock ec05 and start over... it sucks I know but I think that may be your only option unless someone has a .tar of cwm mtd... which I'm not aware of one being in existence at the moment

There's a way to do it. You have to flash a recovery.img from android...

Ugothakd is right. Use ES File Explorer to extract the recovery.bin from the original rom zip, then use flash_image recovery [file name] to fix it. Just had the same issue on CM 7.2 RC0, and fixed it. Wouldn't throw out Odin, though - YMMV. Had to run the flash_image command three times before I got it to stop throwing errors and flash the image.

Wierd, ROM manager shouldn't have affected it like that. It should have simply rebooted since the BML version wouldn't load. I have messed around trying to get ROM Manager to work on an MTD ROM and never had that issue. I still can always 3 finger into MTD CWM 5.027.
If you can't get the recovery to flash right then Odin to EC05 with repartition, root and flash CM7 again just to make sure you don't have partition damage.

[ACS][Odin]Stock EG30 Deodexed with Root 3.0/Busybox 1.18.4

Big thanks to RoadRAGEN for helping me figure out an ext4 issue! Odin this to get Deodexed stock EG30 with latest root and su binary and Busybox 1.18.4.
This does not wipe data.
I am not responsible for anything that happens to your phone. You do this at your own risk.
I have only tested this with the stock kernel and Bubby's CWM kernel.
Download
IMPORTANT: Make sure you have installed the proper XP or Win7 drivers before starting. Also, remove the SD card from the phone (this may not be necessary, but having the SD card installed has caused Odin to fail for a number of people, so might as well just do it).
1. Extract the contents of the zip file to a folder
2. Open odin
3. Put your phone in download mode (Shut it off, wait for lights to all go out, then hold v-down + power)
4. connect phone (you should see odin put a Com4 or something like that in the first box. The actual number is NOT important what is important is something popped up there when you connected your device, meaning ODIN can see it)
5. The only box that should be checked is Auto Reboot.
6. You do not need to choose a pit file.
7. In the PDA Section choose the tar file. (Deodexed-Rooted-Busybox-EG30.tar)
8. Hit start. It will do its thing.
9. If it fails than try a new cable.
10. If the phone hangs for any reason take the battery and sdcard out and let it sit for an hour. Put it back together and try again.

This does not contain a kernel. This is a stock file system that is rooted with busybox. I have tested on the root kernel and Bubby's CWM kernel. I have not tested on the Zedomax kernel.
Cool thanks!

File is up.
My phone is not rooted. If I flash this I will be rooted with the Kernel that was on the phone out of box? Also if I then flash Clock work recovery will it change the Kernel to the one others are claiming LOS on?

That is correct. It will be just like flashing with the stock kernel which I have done. If you flash CWM it will change the kernel. Whether or not you get the LOS is up in the air. I have been using it for days and haven't had it yet.
Just so I have this straight, this is a stock rom, no kernel, deoxed so once installed I can flash a theme over it.
I flashed buddies kernel with cwm rooted and flashed back to the stock kernel is there anything I need to do with my kernel or can I just flash this rom?
Edit: he beat me to it, must have been typing at the same time.

Ok...so the only way to have CWM is to change the kernel? I guess rom manager doesn't work for flashing CWM? Sorry if its a stupid question but I have been all over these threads for a week trying to decide which way to root and which way is better.

thanks bro.. One more question does this wipe internal sd card?
This does not have the kernel. I left it out for people to make their own decision on what kernel to use. Once we get a completely stock kernel with stock CWM I will update it. But for now it is just the system partion.

You need to update your cwm... most of the new roms are not going to be compatible with that cwm... get 5.0.2.7... your probably going to have to odin back to ec05 and start over.. when you flash a cwm from rom manager it only boots to that one when you use rom manager but when you three finger boot it uses the one you rooted with or manually flashed...

No, after root flash CWM 5.027, use 3 finger to boot back into CWM then flash CleanGB ROM. Then after that you can update the CWM in ROM Manager.

What is the fastest way to CM9 from EL30

Ok, so the new Stock EL30 + modem is out... but it does not include CWM or root.
Could someone tell me what the fastest route from that stock reload to CM9 would be? I don't need the super detailed steps... just maybe references to the right working root thread followed by the CWM and MTD jump?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Im sure there are a bunch of different approaches... maybe someone has it down pat?

Thank you for the reply... so could you help me a little?
What is gb3a?
Also, would ODINing the CWM5 automatically bring me to MTD? If not, I don't think CM9 auto-converts... or does it?
Thanks again.
In the xda search "epic gb kernel sources" and look for the thread with that title by mkasick. Find the .tar download it.
Flashing the cwm5 will allow you to flash cm9 and cm9 will check your partition and convert you to mtd.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
Ok... so... you think this will work?
1. ODIN new EL30 stock w/Modem w/ repartition
2. ODIN http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1307980&highlight=mkasick (gb3a in pda slot??)
3. ODIN CWM (in pda slot??)
4. Boot CWM and flash CM9
5. Boot CWM and flash Gapps
does that look right?
Are you already on mtd? If so repartition if still on bml do not.
And yes you hit the nail on the head

Yep, currently on EI22 modem with MTD and CM9 alpha 2.
Want to flash the stock and get the new modem then go to Alpha 4. So yeah, I will need to re-partition.
Thanks again... if this goes smooth (I will likely test it tonight), I will put it out in general as a guide and credit you for the guidance.
Um dude you can just download the el30 modem.tar for odin and flash it no need to re root just flash the newest alpha if you'd like.

I'm pretty sure you cannot do that if you are MTD... unless you want a soft brick.
I think all ODIN activity is supposed to be done BML only.
Speaking of, the CWM is BML only... does the CM9 convert the CWM? I know CM7 does, but not sure about CM9.
Nope I just odined ec05 eh17 and el30 to test on mtd and I'm still talking with ya so no soft bricks here

No that is incorrect. Modem flashing through clockwork is through BML or BML flashable CWM. You can Odin anytime and any modem (except EI22 since we don't have a modem bin for that).

If you are using GB ROM, you can only use GB-based kernels and kernel+CWM.
If you are using ICS ROM, you can only use ICS-based kernels and kernel+CWM.
If you try and mix and match, either on purpose or by accident, then it won't boot into Android (but you can still boot into recovery).
It sounds like you might have mixed and matched.
Okay so how can I get ics

For a more stock AOSP feel, you'll have to flash something like CyanogenMod 9 or AOKP.

Need help updating

Okay so i'm only familiar with flashing on the epic 4g and I just got a E4GT tdy which was already rooted and its on Calkulins E4GT.2.ROM v1.5. The kernel says FD26 with some other letters with it but i doubt important. So yeah I was gonna start with the flashing but i've been reading about people bricking their E4GT and I just wanna be on the safe side and ask how can I update to CM9 or calkulin's 3.0 from this point on? when I go to recovery it just says team rogue's recovery but looks like I can easily flash roms. Just don't want to flash the wrong thing in the wrong provedure and get a brick. Any help will be GREATLY appreciated. Thank You Very Much!!!

yeah I read everything.. just trying to be a bit cautious since I was also reading that it's probable to brick e4gt when on an ics rom.. i was able to get my hands on mobile odin so i can just flash the el26 safe cwm from there right?
(1) Grab the stock el29 tar, install the desktop version of odin and drivers on your computer, and verify odin works. Flash el29. This phone is very soft brick happy, but in almost all cases odin'ing back to stock will fix things. So it is good to have them handy.
(2) Find a rom you think you might like and flash it. Only flash roms intended for the epic touch 4g, international roms will brick your phone. Follow any rom specific instructions in the thread. In general, a zip file must be flashed in a custom recovery, a tar file must be flashed in odin, and an exe file must be flashed in Windows. If it is a zip file, be sure you are flashing from a safe recovery. In general, as long as you have the newest version of chris' or agat's recovery, then it has been patched to be safe.
(3) If your phone doesn't boot or work right after the rom flash, repeat step 1
