[Q] Legendary Rom 2.2 Black Screen - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am currently running Legendary Rom 2.2 on my Samsung Epic 4G. The only problem I'm having is that the screen will sometimes not turn back on. My keyboard still lights up and occasionally I will hear the unlock sound. Sometimes it takes a minute to turn back on, and sometimes I just have to remove the battery and reboot my Phone. Does anybody know why the screen would do this or have any idea on how this can be fixed?

Try flashing a different kernel.

Its the kernel flash a newer one of the samurai kernels this problem was refered to as the "dead hooker syndrome" caused by the 100mhz step that phone don't like and has been fixed.

I tried disabling the 100mhz and 900mhz settings but it was still useless. What version of Samurai could I flash to fix this?

Grab Shadowkernel 1.04...it is awesome!
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App

Gooch, use shadowkernel. once u install it, update prl, profile and reboot. Before u update..wipe cache and dalvik cache. Clear out the garbage.

@Biggoron
Thank you so much! It looks like the new samurai kernel works awesome. I haven't had any screen problems so far and the feel of everything is very nice.
How does the shadow kernel compare to samurai?

Samurai FTW

They are very similiar as both developers work together on the core. Shadowkernel has voodoo color defaults that work awesome with my phone so no need to run the voodoo control app and waste resources on my phone.

i yet still have to try that, the voodoo color part. i didn't download that in the version i installed.

If you have 1.04 voodoo color is already in. If you didn't notice then the defaults are good for you too.

Cant get Power Control widget back... need some help

Last night I installed legendary Rom, but after installation, my Power widget didnt show up.... I tried clearing data/cache, re-installing, same thing. I have tried a few techniques advised on these forums with no luck. Today I installed ACS ICS ROM, and still no luck. Will I ever get this widget back? Anyone have any advice?
I had this very problem after flashing Legendary rom. The actual icons for each button on the widget weren't showing up.
I removed the widget from all screens. Then after doing about 5 reboots, fixing permissions and doing a backup in CWM, the widget returned to normal.
Weird bug. I also made sure to do an md5 checksum comparison before I installed the rom too.

Yeah, no big deal really. I'm a major noob to this.... but if I ever have to odin back to ec05... this problem should return to normal right?

Not necessarily.
During my upgrade process, I decided to ditch all my data and start with 100% fresh on stock before going custom. So I ODIN'ed back to EC05 before moving to EI22. Once on EI22, I then put Legendary rom on my phone and noticed this power control widget bug.
Yeah, I may Odin back to ec05.

I had the same problem with the power control widget on the Legendary Rom. No biggie: I used Widgetsoid to create a better power control widget.
This happened on the rom I am on as well. Put the widget on your homescreen and give it about ten minutes. The icons should appear eventually.

Urban precision v2 rom function problem

Ok, u guys know that last night I installed the urban precision v2 rom. The akward part is, it was working fine for awhile, and then a couple hrs later, I started having all kinds of problems. My phone froze up, no buttons wanted to work and it was rebooting all kinds of ways. Especially the fact it rebooted into cwm and then it also when into download mode. I had to pull the battery, go into cwm. Do a factory reset and restore my nandroid back to cleangb. Can this sudden issue be a problem with the rom or kernel? Plus when it was working fine with this rom at the begining, my phone was running super fast. I mean like no lag what so ever. So any idea what may caused this sudden issue? Cuz I honestly don't know.

[Q] Green screen when camera is being used.

Everything works properly on my phone, except the camera. Sometimes when I try to take a picture of something, the part of the display showing what the camera is looking at turns green. Check out the screenshot to see what it looks like.
I don't think this is a CM9 related issue. I have dropped my phone quite a few times. Sprint won't even touch my phone because it's rooted and I flashed CM9. I searched around on the forums and found that this may be an issue with the "push on the camera connecter being loose" but I'm not sure and don't plan to open up my phone unless I know exactly what to do. Could this be hardware failure or something else?

+ 1. If voodoo color settings are outta wack it'll cause green screens. If that doesn't fix the issue Odin back to stock update to stock EL30 and then take it to sprint.
Also sprint can deny working on the phone if their is physical damage done from dropping it. Example: scratches and dents on the sides of the phone.

Random instant reboot?

I've been on aokp milestone 5.2 for a few days and I didn't know if it was related to the rom or something I did or whatever but I'll be texting or on Facebook or doin something and my phone will just go to the boot animation of the pink unicorn. And I should probably mention that the colors are out of whack for a few seconds before it goes back to normal and boots up.
Edit: Everything's still there when it boots up everything's where it should be and nothing is missing or anything it just literally reboots instantly without warning or notice.
Edit: Could it be that I'm using advanced task killer? I figured it was okay since it was on the high security level setting, just throwing that out there
Thanks for any help.

No solution to this? It's the same as when I posted this thread, 100% random as far as I can tell. I don't notice anything specific that I'm doing when the reboots happen either.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've got no help but I can say that this ROM ran totally smooth for me for a while and then suddenly got laggy, and apps have begun not responding regularly.

It is usually either a kernel panic or running out of RAM. You could try the V6 Supercharger for the RAM issue. As for the other I would always try odin clean stock then root and flash ROM and do not restore any data. Download and reinstall 3rd party apps fresh.

Use to happen to me also when i was on AOKP. I only noticed it when i was listening to my music tho....all my VC settings stayed the same after it booted back up so like you said it was just a random reboot. I installed V6 and that worked for the most part. The reboots did start back later on down the road tho.....

If by stock battery you mean the battery it came with then yes. I'm also running aggressive settings with v6 supercharger.
My only real concern was if it was damaging my phone in any way, or if something had already been damaged. But as I've said I really can't see anything out of whack aside from the reboots and colors. (the colors get inverted or negative or something for a few seconds on pink unicorn boot animation then goes back to normal and boots up)

This also happens to me. Same way. But usually when backing out of a text or when ending a phone call. Stock battery. V6 and no v6. Stock kernel and nyan, sammi, and shadow. What I noticed about the reboot is that it doesn't scan sd card or media.
Kang this UNICORN!!
Solution to this is to go back to a TW based rom...try sleeper or the peoples rom, joy and profit

When i look in settings, under tweaks.. and OC- i see it set no higher or allowing higher than 1000.
My Question remains- WHY is my GPRS automatically turning on, especially with Airplane mode on. I thought it was connected to my WIFI, but it turns on even if i have wifi off.
Do you actually mean gprs the gsm technology or do you really mean gps?
I doubt gprs is turning on since this is a cdma phone that doesn't support it.

Well eliminate one factor by flashing the latest nightly with stock kernel which allows you to OC within by going to settings/cyanogenmod settings/performance/ there will be a setting to allow for 1200 OC.
OR
Now that you have over 10 post ask in your kernels thread.
The software says gprs. I still basically mean data, not wifi. It appears to use a lot of power.
It is always on.

Ok- I just formatted my phone and
Flashed it. Upon flash of nightly - without recovering any apps or anythjng' my phone did not show the oc of anything. After installing go apps, my phone showed mobile data on and in use.
After that I installed my samuri kernel and fully recovered my pps. I thought that maybe go switch widget was initiating the mobile data... but it isn't. Any ideas?

So, after messing with my issue a bit further. I have come to notice that the Mobile Data turns it's self on in either timely increments (once every 5-10 mins) Or It is scheduled to turn on every time the device is unlocked. My "Go Power" thing has reported that the Mobile data a lone is using up about 1/4 the power.
Also, i STILL have no seen ANY Over Clock option in ANY stock variable of this installation.
I HAVE noticed that every time i clean flash my phone, the home button does not work until at least a reboot of the device.
What is the latest version of gapps. available? I went to the IRC- and everyone pointed over to the ICS package, which i did try and it really killed my phone. I Have to stick with the Gingerbread.

So. anyone? -
Don't some power saving apps cycle data off and on on a schedule, rather than "always on"? If the problem started after you installed go power, or other battery saving apps/tweaks, I'd try uninstalling them.
