[Q] SMS BACKUP Application not supported in android 4.0 - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Are there any other applications which are similar? I like having my sms backed up into my gmail account like SMS backup.

SMSBackup+ works great. It did have an issue with syncing call log to calendar following API changes in ICS but the latest release fixed it all.

thanks!! SMS Backup+ is almost exactly the same except it has dev support and works flawlessly on ICS. It also backs up call logs as well!

I use SMS backup and restore.. it backs up to the SD card

Built-in messaging app: uninstall/hide?

Hi all, I use ChompSMS for my messaging, and was wondering if I could use titanium backup to remove the stock messaging app safely? Would I still retain MMS, etc?
If not, is there any way to hide it in the default SE UI? Some app/tool?
Think chomp is standalone, so I would day yes, you can uninstall/freeze it.

no chomp doesnmt offer sms or mms replacement. If you remove stock you wont recieve any texts. You can use handcent though and remove stock that will work fine thats what I got.
Go sms pro is bestone!!
And with this app you can uninstall stock sms app.

+1 for go sms
Thanks everyone. I tried GoSMS, but I really don't like their handling of blacklisted threads. I've been using Chomp for a long time so it's what I'm used to I guess.
I'll try freezing/uninstalling and see if things go haywire. I'll update the thread.
have you tried using handcent? They have excellent cutomization. But the bubbles are so ugly I hasve to use android theme style.
apps like backup Master?

Save Text Permanently?

How are you guys saving your text threads between roms? It's the only thing I seem to have trouble backing up. Titanium backup always gives me an error when I want to restore, SMS backup+ just doesn't work very well. and I'd also love to save my MMS pic msgs if possible. Any and all suggestions will be attempted and appreciated Thank you.
Also, Call logs Titanium backup failed me there as well. Any Suggestions?
I use SMS backup and restore

no MMS but no issues so far

I use MyBackup to back up my SMS and MMS from my Evo 3d to my Samsung S3. No issues. If I'm not mistake it can also do call logs but havent need to do this one yet so I dont know how well that one works.
My backup root. Saves SMS as well as MMS

I like sms backup+ which backsup into your Gmail under a label, as you get and send texts. Then use sms backup restore between roms

SMS Backup+. Backs up my texts to my Gmail as they're received. No worries about ever losing my messages again or backing up before flashing a rom
I save MMS attachments as I get them so I wouldn't know about that.

I use this also works great except for no mms support yet. The same developer has a call log backup app that works great to.

Nexus 4 replacement Apps list

Hey everyone,
I have been going through the apps list of apps I have previously used or bought. I am getting to find replacements for contacts, dialer, messenger, email and whatever else.
I believe the extra power and memory we have really opens up some options some of us really did not have before with lesser phones.
So can we come up with some replacements that will work well with this phone? Some general instructions on set up and a link would be great if possible.
Still loving my Nexus 4!!! Still cannot believe I paid more for my last phone which was Galaxy S Plus.. I am so happy with this!! Now I just need to tweak a few things, mainly my email and contacts.
Thanks all!!!! I'm glad to know that I am not the only one that is obsessed with tech..

Oh well, it was worth a shot. I really need a replacement for my contacts and dialer.

I had to go back to stock sms app because gosms won't send a mms for me
Try Handcent...
BTJ
Handcent user here also. Best and only app i use for messaging!!
Yeah, I have used those in the past actually. Ideally I would love something that manage contacts a little better and ties in with messenger and dialer.
Stock isn't bad really but I just think there is better and I wanted opinions. Some of the noon stock replacements really use tools of battery. Something that sips memory and battery is a requirement for me.
Thanks for the opinions dudes

How about exDialer? I used to use it before I had the N4. App includes a "search based" dialer and contacts.
I'm fine with all the stock apps

I just wish google would add T9 dialing. That's the sole complaint I have about the stock apps.
replaced chrome w/ aosp browser
replaced email with enhanced email
replaced mms and voice with black inverted gapps
I really like the way gmail and the other stock email program sync with the phone. Contacts, etc are synced right when you add an account.
My issue at least regarding email is that I have many, many many accounts. I need to have at least 20 of them on my phone. This means multiple gmail accounts and multiple accounts on the other email program. I hate having to have 2 email programs running.
I have tried and bought many of the email apps, enhanced, IMO, k9, and the others but none of them worked well with this many accounts. Also, I need to have my email contacts synced like the stock apps.
My requirements are an email replacement that syncs contacts and can run multiple imap and pop accounts.
Battery life is also a major concern with this many accounts. Right more do not have these accounts auto syncing or pushing. I refresh manually. The problem with this is that I miss important emails.
As for the rest of the replacements I guess I am just looking to see of there is anything better than the stock dialer/contacts/mms.. The important thing for me is that all of these apps really have to work together. Dialer, contacts, mms, email... these all need to work as one. Is there as replacement that does this?
Thanks all

I used to like go sms but it just got bloated with themes and such. Back to stock with a dark theme

I'm using this Inverted Holo version of MMS with quickreply on AOKP. It should be compatible with any custom ROM I think. Looks beautiful and great functionality as well. check it out.

[Q] Text messaging app question

As someone who keeps flashing different roms, titanium backup is a life saver. One thing I can't get it to do is restore all my texts each flash. Anyone have any suggestions for an app that can do this?

Mybackup root from the play store. You can backup SMS, MMS, APN settings, call logs, and other settings. I use it for those mentioned above.

Titanium Backup backs up and restores my text messages successfully with each rom flash I do.
I use sms backup +
It backs up sms/mms/call logs to your gmail account so its good in that I can limit the number of aged texts sitting on my phone knowing everything is backed up and also I can use gmail search to find any aged text I want quickly.
The auto backup feature is also handy once its set you can forget about it.
Restoring is also quick and easy.

I don't it's gonna work like that. You could use an app called sms backup and restore, but that app doesn't restore mms.
