Hi all, just wanted to know if it's possible to flash or install Timescape and the stock gallery/media widgets into a custom ROM? I'm using Fasty ROM(stock-based, really cool and smooth btw) and i like those widgets. I do have the .zip files that came with the Acronium ROM, but I don't know if they would work.

I guess I'll have to experiment on my own xD haha.
If i had another system backup, will it overwrite it? I don't want a whole bunch of space on backups on my SD card..

If you take backups in CWM it won't.
You can delete them in /sdcard/clockwork/backup, but watch out if you delete the right backup.
Note that many of the stock SE widgets (music, weather, Timescape, etc.) only work with the SE Launcher and won't appear in the widget list on other launchers (I tried ADW and Zeam and they aren't in the list).

I think he knows that and SE launcher is the stock launcher in Fasty ROM either way.

Yeah I know I use the stock launcher. It's really smooth in this ROM and with DooMLord's kernel it's even smoother.

I find myself spending considerable time "re-organizaing" my phone after flashing. Is there a way to keep the folders I created, and better yet, the layout of my homescreen, widgets, etc. when flashing new roms?

Most custom launchers support this. I've used go launcher ex, adw launcher, and launcher pro and they all will backup your configurations.

Miui backup saves homescreen layout and apps, but only for MIUI

I personally don't back up my layout because I think its fun setting it all back up again.

Thanks jwiner for asking this question. I assumed the answer was no, so was glad to see that I could back up using ADW settings. I am on CM7 currently but hadn't paid much attention the ADW settings until now.
Does that back up the widgets too? After restoring with TiBu I always get a "cannot open widget" or something like that. LPP says it's an Android thing that can't backup widget configurations

Widgets will be saved in the spot you set em. However, you will need to delete & reset each one.
That's been my experience as well. Thanks

There is no way with stock HTC sense to save the layout.
Custom roms with alternative launchers do have so options however you still need to reinstall the appropriate applications for the widgets to function correctly.
Same here
I'm using ADW and as far as I can tell, you can backup only the current layout, but I want a way to save each of my layouts and be able to go back and choose one of them again like you can in the Sense layouts. It takes me several days to get everything set up, custom icons made, and tweaking until it's just right. So it sucks that you can't go back and reuse all of them when you want.

Do you use Titanium?
I thought launchers with backup/restore only restored settings and actual apps on the screen. Every time I used them they never restore widgets, I always have to remove the gray block and re-add the widgets.
If you use a folder tool like folder organizer Titanium will backup those folders and apps inside of them.
Hi Guys.
Is it possible to use the original android launcher for the Galaxy S2 (ICS 4.0.3.)? If so, where can I get it?
Now TouchWiz is installed and tells me not at all.
Thanks to all

yes, and if it does not work after that, try to reboot your phone
Alternatively, you could just download the Nova Launcher from the market. It's also based on the AOSP Launcher, but more customizable. You can make it look and behave just like the stock launcher, though.
It feels a bit more polished than Trebuchet to me ATM.
I found ApexLauncher on Play Store. A little bit better as nova

afaik none of the three support folders or tabs (to emulate new pages in TW) in app drawer, so TW still has some use
Hello guys,
I tried apex and nova .. not bad, but not allow you to create folders in the app drawer: (
Unfortunately this is a big problem .. I prefer the theme golauncher ics (golauncher is free but the theme costs about 1.50 €).

Is there any way to transfer over the tw launcher used in the last few beta roms? I really liked the transition effect of it.

On the official ICS with nova all samsung widgets work like a charm...
So one thing thats kept me from really using ICS daily is the fact that I can't restore Launcher pro from titanium backup. It just says restoring and nothing every happens and I have to kill TB. I've had this across any version of ICS that I try. I can download it and re setup my home screens but thats annoying. If I install from market and do a restore from inside launcher pro it will work, but if I reboot then it goes back to default launcher pro. Any ideas?

Being a long time launcher pro fan I was pissed when I realized I could not get launcher pro to work correctly on ics. I bounced between nova and apex for a while before landing on nova prime. I have been happy with it. Might wanna give it a spin.

I'll give it a try....Hopefully they will fix launcher pro, if not then may be moving to a new launcher....

That's what I did too. I am currently using Nova Prime and loving it. It is better than launcher pro in my opinion.
If I helped you out in any way please thank me. Thanks.

The last time I looked it had been like over a year or something without an update on launcher pro.I don't know if it is being maintained at all...

I think the problem with laucherpro and ICS is the LP Widgets. To get around this I've started using the "Android Pro Widgets" available in the play store with the "Modern ICS APW theme" which are just as good if not better than the LP Widgets.
edit: I forgot to actually state that I am using LauncherPro on ICS and had the same trouble. Just restore the app without the data and it should work fine. Take my advice above if you need the LP style widgets
Are there any launchers that allow stock xperia widgets to be placed on the homescreens? I really like apex pro beta but it doesn't allow timescape, music etc.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Only stock launchers will run stock widgets like weather, Timescape,

Can I remove it and just stay with trebuchet launcher? I keep getting updates for something I never use. I also have purchased ADWLauncher EX, so after i test it, if I like it, can I remove Trebuchet launcher too? Thanks!

what's the procedure? just remove .apk file or there's something more into it?
Navigate to system/app and then delete the launcher. Never used cm so assume it is the same as normal app.

You can do it that way, but I prefer to use Titanium Backup as, I assume it also removes system folders etc giving a cleaner removal.
