Hey guys, my galaxy nexus has a weird problem. Randomly the talk back feature found in the accessibility settings starts.
I am currently running, he AOKP Maguro milestone 2 ROM. Anyone know how to fix this?
Or if someone could tell me how to remove the feature permanently I wouldn't mind either. I never use it lol. I know there are some tools around and I'll search, bit if anyone can recommend a tool it would be really appreciated.
Thanks guys

are you using a custom rom? will try to test it with mine if the Talk Back feature still turns on by itself. btw i am running ARHD rom.
update: it seems i can't find the google book app on my marketplace.
Never had it on my phone. Several ROMs including CM9 and now on JB. I'm on Sprint GN. Anyone know why and what to do to be able to see devices section? When I click a link in a browser it just takes me to the main screen of the play store. What am I missing?
Thanks.

Yeah I get that. My question was why and if there is a workaround?

Thanks. So its not just me. That's what I wanted to know.
Used to be able to click on an address in text messages or in any browser and android would open it in MAPS or EARTH or NAVIGATION etc.
I recently installed AOKP milestone 6 for the first time, coming from Caulks 1.6. I'm not sure if it's an AOKP issue or if it's a 4.0.4 issue or what. I do know my buddy just lost this function on his G Nexus when he updated to Jelly Bean. That makes me think it's not a 4.0.4 issue because it worked normally for him on ICS. I definitely haven't taken any OTA updates so even if it was part of the Apple patent bullsh!t how would it be effecting me?
This is really important to me because I use this function multiple times a day.
Also, Maps takes forever to focus when I zoom in on a map. Any ideas on that?
A quick search shows issues with strings.xml not associating correctly, regardless of app.
Did you clear, uninstall and try fresh with one of the apps?

I searched but couldn't find anything. What did you search for. Appreciate the response. You thinking to fresh install maps? Or sms and browser?

Strings is just a way of using localized data contained to point to more data that it may contain. Its a SQL function, well, to me.
But I do not know if its a root or an app function within Android itself. Someone smarter than me may have that answer.
I'd try clearing cache and data for the particular app, removing, then reinstall. But it may be more severe of an issue if no app will work.
Did you recently flash a ROM?
: edit: Please disregard that obvious dumb question I ask at the end. Its been a long day..

I personally haven't used aokp, and I apologize for asking a question that you clearly answered in your op. Been a long day.
I'd check to see if anyone with your setup can recreate or maybe, possibly, you had a corrupted or failed partial file or a failed write during flash.

And to answer your question, I just searched "Android getlocality" which is geocoding. Which will point you to strings, which are generic.. We use it in my line of work. Environmental Engineering.. ( i'm not a tree hugger btw..)

Lol that's ok if you were. I just wondered bc I searched "address" and didn't find a thing related.
Ok just tested and it works in dolphin but not chrome. I just started using Chrome so that must not be a feature. As for sms I guess the it just doesn't work. I'll look into if I have a jelly bean sms app. I bet that's it.

I think you're on to something. There are multiple goecoder issues, random, with jelly bean on the the 'ol search. Multiple fixes if you're looking for a workaround.. NOT promoting a site, but stack overflow shows a few..
Open issues shows a few too.. http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/list Granted they are listed for the Nex..

And, to beat a dead horse deader, cause you touched on something I actually use, Andriod Chrome is using geocoding.. Odd that it isn't working for you. My maps in ICS have that function but it may still be broken in JB. Reference here.
I try to install Vector game on my GNex but in PlayStore says that game is not supported. After that I found the way to install it but after level choose game just shuts down. Does anyone faced problem like this?
This is maybe wrong section but now I cannot delete thread. Sorry to administrators Please move it...

It's working on Galaxy S3. So I don't think it's made for tablets only.
Bump for interest. I was going to try that game today and I'm confused that it says my phone isn't supported. If you look through the Play Store reviews, there are many other phones using it including the S3 and HTC EVO something. So it's obviously not tablet only...
:S
Strangely, I get the option to install it on my nookcolor and Moto Droid from the desktop Play Store, which both definitely have inferior hardware to the GNex. I'll see what happens when I get home.
ok! in the reviews section, i see a guy with a GNex giving review about the game on his phone.. i wonder how he made it run on his!!
So I got it downloaded and installed. It crashes on both the Droid and GNex, but I can at least get through the menus on the GNex. On the Droid it crashes on the loading screen after the Nekki logo. On the GNex I have the same experience as the OP. Oddly the app itself doesn't report/show a crash, it causes other things to crash.

same here. when trying to run on GNex, it shows the menu and all, but when you're about to start playing, it returns to homescreen just like that. no error reporting screen
I installed it last week, and ran it with no problems.
Didn't do anything special either. I don't know why you all are having issues.

are you on galaxy nexus? where did you download from?
Yes, I am. And all I did was install it from the play store.
That's what is confusing me right now about this thread. I don't know why so many of you at having problems.
installed the game(not from play store since it was reporting not compatible for gnex) and got it running....game is good though it haw frame rate issues...I suppose that's the reason it is not compatible with the gnex though it seems to be running on lower spec phones....who knows....

This didn't work for me. The app will load and let me choose a level, but then crashes and causes NOVA launcher to get screwy to the point of needing a reboot.

Are you running a custom rom on your Nexus?
//E: Just tested the APK you uploaded and the game works. It's the opposite of fluid but playable most of the time. Running the newest PA with Fancy Kernel and Nova Launcher.
Sorry. Was at work, and couldn't reply.
Yes, I was running CM 10, not 10.1, at the time of that posting. And I had some issues with lag as well, but it did work.
Glad to see you had some luck
Downloaded from the play store. The game itself works, but the frame rate is way off. No lag issues jus slow mo. Lol

What i had to do was go into root explorer in my rom tool box and move the apk into my system apps, change the permissions, and run just a regular reboot and it works fine.

There are no galaxy s4 apps "for sprint" lol... just download the system dump, extract the APK file you want, put it on your phone (push into system/apps, set permissions, etc) and see if it works! Of course always make a backup before trying something new!
