Ok, my HTC Trophy is about to die on me and I need another phone. I'm on Verizon. Should I just get a replacement Trophy or should I hold out until April when the Lumia 710 is rumored to be released on Verizon? My phone still works as a phone still its just glitchy as ****. I shouldn't have tried to fix it and should have just bought another one lol

Well, that all depend on how long you are willing to put up with the Trophy. What's wrong with it anyway?

Dead Spots on touchscreen and sometimes the touchscreen and capacitive buttons stop working all together. Its useable though, just have to lock and unlock the phone to revive the touchscreen. The dead spots are permanent though. Also, the digitizer is being held on by tape. Finally, there are 2 cracks on my phone's digitizer. I attempted to repair my phone's LCD and Digitizer once but ever since it has been giving me hell. I'm ready for something new.
My Trophy has been good to me, It runns all my hacks and mods. The Lumina looks good too but if you are thinking about unlocking it and such, make sure you are able to do so before you buy it if you decice to go with it.
If you get a replacement Trophy, I'd probably try and find one used and fairly cheap off contract, so you're not kicking yourself if Verizon actually releases an Apollo device this fall.
Buy another another LCD and Digitizer. My LCD were broken and also the digitizer. I've repaird it for 59€ (i've bought the replacements on eBay), but the LCD is not original.

I think that since Nokia is big around the world many a person will try to hack the thing. Didn't some of the WindowBreak project guys get free Lumia 800s?

I tried that before. It was a great learning experience, however I think im just going to let the phone die a peaceful death now. The LCD is good to go but the digitizer needs replacing.
Anyway, I got an OG Droid but i now learned how much better Windows Phone 7 is to Android. That **** sucks (excuse the language). Everything is so complicated compared to WP7. Getting the Droid made me love WP7 even more *cries*. At least it will hold me for awhile. And I get to play Gran Turismo and Gran Turismo 2. Someone needs to get to work on a PSX Emulator for Windows Phone 7.

I got my Tilt 2 March of this year. While it's been fun, I notice less and less support for it everywhere. We've had some good times together, but it' can't be helped that it's time to switch over to an android phone. It's in really good condition and I was thinking about putting it on ebay. Can I charge at least $200 for this thing? I don't want to get a new phone until I can unload this one somehow. Yes it does seem like a waste, but it's rapidly becoming the phone not to have IMO. I've been rocking the Energy Rom since I've had it but the lack of apps and other goodies that the newer phones have are killing it right now. So that's why I think it's time for an upgrade.
This was my first smartphone. I upgraded from a motorola razor that I had for 3 years. I think that the next phone I get will be the last phone that I'll need. It just seems like the Tilt 2 didn't last as long as I thought it would.
how is the condition? if in mint condition 200 is easy on ebay
It's definitely mint. Never been dropped or anything like that. I'm just wondering if it'll be worth anything to the general public seeing as how there are bigger and better phones out there.

its easily possible if its in mint condition and comes with accessories and all
It's not worth anything. Send it to me for proper disposal.
Seriously, I've only had mine since June, but I love it. Not my first Smartphone as I replaced an LG Incite with it and have been using a WinMo PDA since 2003. I have yet to not find an app for the things I do with a phone and for just entertainment. Is it perfect? Of course not, but is any phone? I don't think so. I have friends with iPhones who marvel at some of the tings my Tilt 2 does and I have friends with Android phones who are jealous of some of the features their phones are missing. If it isn't doing what you need it to do, then by all mean upgrade, but ditching a prefectly good, working phone just because you think the grass is greener on the other side is foolish. You might get $200 on eBay (I paid $250 for mine in June and it was NIB), but with Verizon getting iPhones in Jan and Windows Phone 7 due in December you better hurry as prices will be falling real soon.
i bought one from ebay is it worth it?could i have gotten a better one?
condition is mint no scratches or anything
hey,
i bought the phone a few month ago for about $300...
and of course you could have gooten a better one...
But here's the BIG BUT:
-when you want to have a hardfware keyboard then theres only one other phone...the desire z (about $600)
-if you dont need the keyboard then u could get the HD2 if u want it to hgave windows mobile
-or you could get the desire wich in my eyes is a high end device without any limits for now...
--->but thats all a matter of what you want to spend for a new phone...
but i can only tell you that it is a great phone i use it every day and its just great to have the keyboard...
and for that price $200 you couldnt get a better phone then this one!
just flash a cusom rom and the phone is just awesome!
nick
Not a bad price; was it a 'bid' or 'buy it now' option?
I was lucky to snag one with a bunch of accessories (including 2 batteries, 3 cables, 2 AC chargers, a spare battery cover, extra stylises, & an Otterbox) in mint condition for about $150 shipped. It was a buy-it-now sale, so I assume that I got that deal because the seller really didn't know what it was worth. The seller was changing carriers and just wanted to get rid of the phone.
Since the phone has been discontinued and the new Windows 7 phones are out, the prices are coming down quickly. I'm not ready to jump into a W7 device, so I'm happy with my purchase.
Keep reading the forums and, if you're brave about customizing it, I'm sure you'll be happy with this device, too. Enjoy!

And thank you for replying
Well, after reading this thread, I decided to buy one off ebay too. Then to see how the xdandroid stuff is working...
bought my tp2 before they hit the U.S for $600,been pleased ever since. You got one for $200,you got lucky, great buy
Was it an unlocked device? It wasn't a BAD price, really but I don't know if I would consider it a great one either. The phone is a bit on the slow side these days, but not excessively so. They are still selling new Android phones with even slower CPUs. But it's no Snapdragon either. The hardware keyboard is nice. I thought about moving to a Focus with WP7 but I really don't like the soft keyboards and I am not impressed with the Quantum.
So, yeah, not a real helpful post, but the TP2 remains one of if not the overall best WM 6 device out there. AT&T is still selling it for $199 and you would be locked into a 2 year contract for it so if you got it for $199 I suppose you did okay. Especially if, as previously mentioned, you aren't adverse to a bit of out of warranty modding and custom ROMs.

I'm tempted just because I'm up for an upgrade but I probably won't bother yet.
thanks to nokia excellent marketing, i was also tempted, but then i realised that it just isnt worth it, not for me anyway. i have an omnia 7, and although it has twice the memory and is 400mhz faster, it still hardly he 2nd gen phone i am looking for, even worse, it STILL dosnt have a front facing camera. shameful for a 2nd gen device, especially with skype coming around..... tut tut nokia, although the marketing for it has been excellent and i hope it does really well! but i wont be conned a second time around....
i would have bought it right now if i could move my sms.

Maybe we gotta harass the smart folks over in the hacking forum. Seems like it'd be fairly simple to dump/load SMS in homebrew.
i won 1 last week from a dutch tech-website.
have been using it for a week now
Used to have the omnia 7 and i'm still getting used to the smaller display of the Lumia
Turns out Vodafone won't let me early upgrade until the twenty-somethingth, but as I'm still sitting on the fence it will very much depend on how much they value my loyalty (and how much they want to compensate me for perpetually screwing up my bills, because I'm on a price plan that doesn't exist???)
You've got to hand it to Nokia though, they've done a damn good job especially with the advertising, this is EXACTLY what Windows Phone needs. This must have cost them a fair whack though:

Right in the middle of the Bullring in Birmingham...as well as prime positioning in Phones4U and a really very comprehensive campaign.
EDIT: Had I taken that shot from the other side of the centre, you could see it's right outside the Vodafone store, and the two O2 stores, although obviously anything that isn't an iPhone or Blackberry is beyond the comprehension of the O2 store employees...
i bought mine today but not in a shop rather over the phone it is currently in the ukmail depot and will be with me in 8-12 hours
These wave of phones are probably skippable if you have the first gen or you are not locked into a contract.

all nokia windows phone have an integrated "contat transfer" program for transfer contacts from symbian to windows phone via bluetooth
btw, the only reason for not buying a nokia lumia is the missing frontal cam IMHO.

That's still not a solution for what he wants, not sure why you answered that.
Oh and also a bigger screen is a good reason for not buying this phone, although that's not the debate here.
You know I was going to get an int'l model but I'll wait for the American version. By then the camera issues should have a firmware update and some maturation would've occurred. Elop keeps saying americans would get a different experience. If it involves FFC I'm sold. Period.
So can anyone confirm or deny if it is indeed "Funner", and if so, what on earth that means?!!
Some of the crap that comes out of marketing astounds me!
More seriously, it seems like a really nice phone from having played with it in store, but the small screen, and lack of FFC kill it for me. Hopefully they will pull their finger out and release something akin to the Ace specs that were leaked a while back.
I have had a play with one in store and I am sure this phone will appeal to the youngsters, it looks absolutely beautiful, but for me, at my age, the screen is too small, I will stick with my Titan until Nokia come out with a bigger phone. I really hope the lumia range is successful for the sake of wp7.
CAn you let me know where you got it? I am looking for an unlocked/unbranded devisce but none that i can see so far.
Thanks.
You can buy it unlocked sim-free at Phones4u for £400, how I got it, or at Carphone Warehouse for £470.
Thanks, just talked to rep from phones4u and they sais they only sell PAYG. No good for me. Checked their site and they seem to have the phone there as you say SIM free. I was going to place order now Im not sure as they stated at the side of the site that they prepare all SIM phones to be ready.
As you have one from them can you confirm that it is indeed SIM free and totally unbranded from Phones4U? if it is I will order one right now

Simple question because i'm fed up waiting. Is the HTC One X fixed yet? Carphone wearhouse have recalled the phone and are not selling it anymore, and apparently more retailers will follow. HTC cant admit they made a mistake and the hardware is broken. I'm not willing to get the galaxy s3 because that has many faults too, and i want an htc phone. I also cant think of a compromise to any of these phones though.
So, is it fixed? Any official statement? Thanks in advance. Im in bed ill so i'll be slow with replys lol.

blooming rumors tbh,
look at the cpw website and you will clearly see they are still available.
mine is a release day version and ive had no problems, until cpw make a statement or someone gets a recall notice i would take it with a pinch of salt, probo samsung marketing department again lol.
go instore tell the assistants there your worries and ask to check the phone there and then before you get it...nothing wrong with the latest batches now and much better to get this phone instead of the s3 mate
I got mine from CPW and it wasn't recalled - it's been perfect
I asked in two different stores CPW on the phone, and unfortunately only had batches from April. Still I'm waiting until I buy this phone
I'm still very sceptical about the One X. I don't want to blow near £500 on a glitchy, faulty device. Any more updates? Sounds like it's STILL having problems. It's a disaster phone.

I agree, my advice, get it IF you can return it without a hassle just in case. It is a great phone (best screen ever, way better than iphone 4s screen).
However, I had wifi problems and a cracked screen due to a high noise, lots of scratches on the screen which I've never had on my previous gorilla glass phones.

Haha, no lol. Yeah, I agree, it's the best phone you can get right now, when it's not riddled with problems that make it unusable. I loved it when I had it. That's why I'm finding it hard to get a replacement.

If I buy it again soon, I'll probably get it out of a store, and not online because sending it back is a hassle, and too time consuming. And it usually costs me for P&P (which is usually refunded, but a pain).
Decided after a lot of thought that I'd prefer the Galaxy S3. It seems to have better audio and other features I prefer over the HTC One X. I think the HTC One X is both a pinnacle and nadir.
Well played, well played, indeed
Ok guys i need your advices.
My son broke my Nexus 7 2013 a month ago , he dropped his spiderman figurine on it and the screen broke.
So last week i went to wallmart and purchased a Galaxy tab 4 7 inch, and to be honest , its a piece of ****, its full of bloatware and its laggy as hell, i dont like it at all.
I will go return the tablet and get my money back.
But the thing is i need a tablet and i dont have more than 200$ to spend for a tablet.
Also i just checked on the best buy canada store and they still have nexus 7 2013 on sales, but now they are cheaper, 179$.
What should i do?, buy the nexus 7 2013 with the money that i will have back from my tab4 or keep the 200$ and save for something else?
Personally, I love the Nexus 7. It's perfect size and runs smoothly through everyday tasks, even faster than the Note 4 (for obvious reasons). And when it stops being supported, one could easily run the simply Cyanogenmod Installer for easy and continous updates for a little while longer.
My Nexus 7 2013 got bricked, and watching a YouTube video , I got a motherboard on ebay from China and it was easy to change it. Screens are more difficult, I think, but look at YouTube videos and then ebay. I have bought lots of parts for broken electronic and computer stuff from China and all were fine. Or look on ebay or craigslist for one that is bricked with a good screen, and just change the motherboard with yours- that would be much easier to fix.

I taught about that , i even disasembled the tablet and took everything apart while watching a tutorial on youtube.
But the thing is i didnt took any anti static/electrical precaution when disasembling the parts so im not sure if it matters.

Neither did I , worked fine. The parts from China are really inexpensive, so it might be worth the try- takes at least 2 weeks to get, I don't know about Canada, but Hong Kong to US is very cheap postage. If you could get a bricked one with a good screen, it is very easy to replace the motherboard.
