everytime I use Swype I get a "select input method" notification. I'm running axi0m2.2 and have used two different Swype programs. Both give me the notification at the top everytime I use it. Anyone have that problem or solution?

It's not a problem that's how it is now whenever you have more than one input method.

I never had that problem and have multiple input methods. Once I select Swype it stays that way. I'm running RomannBB's ROM and this version of Swype : https://plus.google.com/108096915458146487046/posts/DTiEnMemga7

Because roman has an option to turn that off. It has nothing to do with what version of swype and it isn't a problem.

Why need a workaround for a feature??
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
This feature makes no sense. It gives you an icon Everytime you open Swype?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
It gives you an option to change your input method no matter what keyboard you are using without long pressing because Google is trying to move away from long presses. It has nothing to do with swype.

I fully understand that, but is there a way to bypass it? From what i understand on certain roms you can, certain roms you can't? I've tried everything i can but it bothers me, everytime i see it i feel i have a text or e-mail. Very annoying.
You could rename, freeze or delete the other keyboard not in use. This will stop the input in status bar because there no other option to choose.
You could do what the Peron above me said, or you have to flash a rom that removes it unfortunately :/ I know Romans rom AOKP has an option to toggle it on or off.

Thanks for the reply.
Well, that's pretty annoying.
Thanks!
You have to use a custom Rom that disables that notification.

More specifically freegs3 you have the option to disable during install of rom
The keyboard notification is there to let you change keyboards because long press on text boxes no longer bring up a menu but rather the copy paste function in ICS
Predictive text and autocorrect isn't working on the tmobile galaxy s. i get the predictive text list but i have to manually select the best match. It works differently on htc and misspelt words are not indicated or corrected. can anyone confirm this?

Works fine.

Works fine here.
I get the predictive text list but it does not auto select the best match. I have to select the match. That's how I think it is suppose to work Iike it does on htc phones. On htc all i have to do is press the spacebar and it completes the word. Also there is no autocorrect happening. Misspelt words are not underlined or corrected.

Well that sucks. I hope they can fix this. Is there a way to return to the previous build? My phone came already updated. I had a Samsung phone with sprint 2 years ago and swore I would never buy Samsung again after so many software bugs and delayed upgrades but decided to take a chance. Already regretting it.

Did you go into input settings?
Of course the setting is on.

I have the exact same problem and my phone also came updated. Try SwiftKey its so much better!!! Haven't looked back ever since I installed it and I think the trial lasts 30 days. In SwiftKey settings let it learn from ur texts it doesn't send any data but just analyzes it to help prediction

hey everyone,
i've noticed that in some (most actually) apps, when in landscape mode and bringing up the keyboard (it happens on all keyboards ive tried: swiftkey, swiftkeyflow, kii, keymonk and samsung stock) instead of bringing up the keyboard and displaying the app you're in in whats left of the screen, the keyboard comes up with a white text input display, allowing you to see only the text you enter, without its context in the application you're in.
this can be troublesome in apps that combing typing and drawing, such as lecturenotes or any other natural handwriting note taking app you know.
has anyone found a way to overcome this issue?
try swype, my man
http://beta.swype.com/
I've tried all my writing apps and none of them do that. What app are you using? I have tried it with both the stock keyboard and the Hackers Keyboard.

getting the same effect with:
Samsung stock
swiftkey
swiftkey flow
kii
Keymonk
+ some two other keyboards I can't remember by name right now

I'm actually curious to know.if there is a way to avoid the white box appearing. It's the only reason why I prefer typing in portrait mode, I'd like to see where I'm typing.

Same here man,
why Samsung would force something like this on users is beyond me.
It renders many great apps unusable in landscape mode

Is anyone still thinking about this? I also find this quite annoying, also because it is different from app to app and also from Rom to Rom. I get the right results on most tw roms, but not on AOSP or CM10.1, where it differs from app to app. Changing dpi doesn't solve the issue.
I read that thumb keyboard has an option to suppress fullscreen windows, but I use swype.
I use the Note I, but this is not device-specific. No work-around?
Subscribed. Always wanted to know whether or not it can be fixed.

Actually on most aosp roms there's an option to disable full screen keyboard on landscape. However, I have never heard of this option on touchwiz roms, people keep suggesting keyboards but non of them work. I believe this requires modification in the root directory.

Stock keyboard doesn't have auto-correct, I guess you're using a mod like the one by Arsaw (from the apps and themes section or integrated by your rom cook). If so the only way to turn auto-correct off is to turn Predictive Input off or flash stock keybord. But if you want to keep using it and just skip the suggestions for some words you have to tape the word you're writing so it loses the underline and won't get replaced.
I sometimes use the emoji keyboard that I downloaded off of the Play Store, but right now I 'froze' the app via Titanium Backup Pro because almost 3 times a day, I will get strange advertisements in my notification bar/drawer. And note that I only see this in this CyanogenMod ROM I'm running right now, when I'm running stock TouchWiz, these strange ads never appear. Is there any way to prevent these annoying ads?
Forgot to mention that I do have AdAway installed and working, but it doesn't work for the emoji keyboard.
I'm running CyanogenMod Version: 10.1-20130304-EXPERIMENTAL-d2tmo-M2

You can try using an air push blocker, or a different keyboard like go keyboard or kii which both have emoji inputs

Also if running jb or higher hi can long press on the notification and select app info. That will take you to the a app info screen and select disable notifications.
