My cases - Shopping in Shenzhen - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Accessories

Living in Shenzhen has some advantages, namely I can buy phone accessories the moment they're available and pretty cheaply too. I said I would post info about these cases a while back but my GF cleaned my apartment and I couldn't find them until today. So here we go:

Just gonna do them in order of the pic from top left.
1: This is a soft flexible plastic. It has a good feel in the hand. The side buttons are easy to get to as they are uncovered but it does seem to be a little close to the mics. It just wraps around the sides so the glass is completely uncovered by this. It also comes off easily, not very secure on the phone. It doesn't feel like it adds much bulk. S-pen is harder to get to with this case.
2: A little thicker than #1. It wraps all the way around the edges and meets the glass. It is much more secure. Feels a little slick in the hand. I think it looks nice on. I don't like the feel of the volume rocker under the case, power button is uncovered. I feel the need to push the button very hard. The feedback from the rocker is reduced. I guess that should be expected It feels thicker mostly because it wraps all the way around the front. If you had this on your phone and put it face down on a table the glass won't touch.
3: Seems to be the same material as #1 but it wraps all the way around like #2. The sides of the back are textured and give good grip. Even though the buttons are covered I like the way they feel under this one. Everything seems good except the S-pen opening is a little small like #1 so it is a little harder to get out.
4: This is the SGP (or a copy) hard case. I found this same one in Hong Kong for like 5x what I paid. It fits very securely. The S-pen is a little harder to get to again. Buttons are uncovered. It wraps around the sides to just meet the glass so if it is face down on a table it will rest on the glass. Though it is smooth it doesn't feel slick.
5: This is a very soft silicon (I'm guessing) case. I like the look and feel of it. It wraps all the way around and covers the very edge of the glass but not any of the display. Buttons are covered yet provide good feel and the S-pen is not difficult to access. Considering this was the cheapest one it's actually pretty nice.
6: Almost identical to #2 but the S-pen opening is smaller so it is more difficult to access. Also both the volume rocker and the power button are covered and I don't like the feel of either. Though the back is smooth it doesn't want to slide around in your hand. Fit is the same as #2, maybe a little more snug.
7: This is a similar material to #1 but feels thinner. It wraps around to the front and is quite snug. Buttons are covered but the case is thinner at that part and the buttons feel good. S-pen is slightly more difficult to remove. It is textured on the sides where it rests against the side of your palm and fingers. However the matte finish on the back is really slippery. It also has holes so you can attach a lanyard.
This is an aluminum case that has small rubber bumpers inside. I'm not sure how much protection it would really offer but I think it looks great. I found two different models and bout this one. I think I will try the other one as well to see if there is a difference. This has holes for a lanyard but they are so small that it is very difficult to use. I bought a metallic back for my Note and it doesn't fit in this case so I had to switch back to the original. On this case the volume rocker and power button are not covered and you must use your fingernail to reach them through the case. I'm not thrilled with that.
I have been surprisingly happy with this case. It doubles as my wallet holding a few essential cards and sometimes a little cash. It does use a magnetic closure and I know some of you don't like that. It doesn't have a notch for the S-pen so you need to slide the phone down a little to get to it. I can still pocket this and I like that it covers the front too.
These are the replacement backs I found today. I bought a purple metallic one. The wood ones were kind of interesting too. I also saw many leather cases and leather flip cases. Unlike the Samsung flip case these are essentially a plastic case glued into a leather cover. There were also some that the phone slides into. I think I'll have time to go back and get pictures before my vacation if anyone is interested.
If I can help you find any accessories or you want any of these covers (I only want to keep the purple ones) PM me.

Nice post there, could you if possible find a keyboard case for the device.

it's been so long it is hard to remember and i only bought one so i didn't get the wholesale price. i believe it was less than $3. I can go back and ask for the quantity price if you'd like.

Hey I just found a note I made about that black case. It was ¥6 or just under $1. In quantities it should be less.

Also my purple metal case had a serious flaw. The hole four the earphones is off and caused a problem with my earphones. I could insert them and it seemed OK but the sound kept cutting out so I knew the connection was bad. I'll post the name of that one layer so you can avoid. I may try to buy the other one if I have some time today.

Hello mate!
I'm going to buy this case
since it's have the solid steel hold of the phone like in your picture
Now for my question...do you think i can put the Gnote in this case with another case on it?
(example:a TPU case on the Gnote and then put it in this cases)
Thanks for your response!!

it will fit if you adjust the side with some force to avoid adding too much pressure on the phone itself. But the top and bottom part could be sticking out.
I just came back form shenzhen. Amazing place, but one thing to be caution tho, a lot of items there are counterfeits even phone accessories. I saw some element case there for ip4 for 50RMB which works perfectly and cost 140USD for US retail. And even the local brand like capdase and the one you linked Kalaideng has counterfeits.
No offense to people who selling it, they are great products even it's counterfeits. To the buyers, what I said it's just FYI, so make your own judgement and pick a legit seller if you care for this sort of things.

@ofear69
It should fit because the tabs can stretch. I accidentally found that out and had to bend them back this morning. I paid RMB60 for that case I think.
Many of the products in shenzhen are copies. I just opened a monopoly game that is an interesting mix of French and English. Some products are the Chinese manufacturers selling under their own brands instead of just doing OEM work.
It's always important to be careful here. I wish I had asked top try that purple metal case first but that's life. Three other case I have more confidence in, the girl selling them has a Note too. They are becoming popular here

Bought a new aluminum case today. it was actually less than the other and though it doesn't have holes for a tether I think I can use the protective back plate hole for the speaker. The coolest feature of this is the protective back plate. It keeps the back panel of your phone from touching when placed on a table, etc. It doesn't work with my metallic cover though.

I ordered one of these last week... looking forward to it. I also ordered one of the metal battery doors to be used with it... do you think they will work together? Does the metal slider have anything to keep it from rubbing against the Note while installed (tape or film)? I'd love to see more pics of it! Thanks!

Seidio Surface case review (w/pics)

Hey fellow sgs3 owners,
I just received my Seidio surface case and I'm here to review it. I chose the blue because it is my favorite color and it looks awesome on white, and no I do not like pebble blue at all lol.
When I first opened the package and took everything out I noticed how sleek the case is. The case is broken up into 2 parts (top, bottom). The inside of both parts has a very nice suede type padding as "shock absorption" (idk if it is suede or mesh or whatever but it feels nice ). To get the case on the phone it is quite simple, you slide the top part of the case thru the top of the phone and the bottom part thru the bottom of the phone until both ends meet in the middle. You don't have to force anything and it fits perfect with no space in between ends and no rattling of the phone. Perfect fit.
The feel of the case reminds me of a stronger and more scratch resistant material than my htc one s. It is definitely scratch proof and feels solid in my hand. Gone is the feeling of holding plastic while I am using my phone. The case covers the entire back, top, and bottom of the phone. It even has a raised bezel around the front side so you can set the phone down on any surface facing down and not worry about the screen getting scratched. The cutouts of the case are perfect. The volume and power cutouts are angled so you can get to them without a hassle. The mic, noise cancelling mic, and charger cutouts are cut to perfection with no crazy thickness that would make it difficult to access.
The camera, flash, and speaker cutouts are nearly perfect too. Seidio went with a nice design that covers the bezel of the camera too so your lens is 100% protected from fall and surfaces. Again this case was cut out to perfection.
The one grip I have about the case is that it's a pain in the pass the a** to take off. I have had the case on for about an hour now and I am still trying to take it off I saw a video on youtube where someone says "it takes a bit of pressure to take off" that's an understatement. I feel like I will need a hammer, a machete, and a crowbar (All obvious exaggerations). But seriously I feel like if I apply anymore pressure getting this thing off I'm going to break something lol. This can also be a good thing. you don't have to worry about the case coming apart on impact if you drop it. Like I said it's solid.
This case doesn't add much bulk to the device. It still feels slim and sexy in my hands. I'm not sure about the size of the case but seidio probably has it on their website.
If you are looking for the best protection you can get while maintaining the sexiness of your device I would highly recommend this case. Just be ready for war when you want to take it off.
-not sure why the pictures lost quality when I uploaded them, sorry-
Update I figured out how to take it apart. It's tricky but once you learn how to its easy. You don't necessarily hold the sides and pressure the middle tab. You have to press down next to the middle tab with a bit of pressure without holding the sides and try sliding off. Again tricky but do it once and you will be able to do it again and again.

I bought this same setup from Best Buy but is wasn't labeled as Seidio on the back. I don't have it in front of me at the moment since I replaced it with a Commuter. The case is nice but to thin for me, I fear dropping it from any height since it is slim.
In regard to taking it off I found that if you put you fingers where case opens for the power and volume button and press down on the back it comes off very easily.
This case works great with the Samsung desktop dock.

I have the same case, excellent review by the way Good to know it works with the dock. As far as NFC goes, i was able to easily use S-beam which is powered by nfc, so i would assume the stickers would work as well.
I had this case on my HTC inspire and really liked it....had to switch to the defender after breaking my holster clip while climbing in the attic. Sad day lol. It's a solid case I never had problems with it but....my buddy couldn't get hers to stay together had to exchange a couple times.

Thanks for the review. Like someone else said, I have the version of this case that they sell at Best Buy. I love the case and have been using it for my BB, Evo and now my S3. It was the first case, that I looked for when I got my S3. I am looking at getting an Otterbox only because I broke my OG Evo's screen when it dropped (mine you the phone was almost two years old and had been dropped before), I just dont want that to happen to my S3.
Thanks also for telling us that it fits in the dock from Samsung. Does the one that you posted pictures with also charge the battery (i know it charges the phone but not sure if it charges a second battery as well). I bought the dock from Sprint that allows you to charge a second battery (doesnt charge the phone at all, only the battery). I can tell you that with that case, it does not fit on that dock (it barely fits in landscape mode but you can clearly see that its not meant to have that type of case).
Thanks again for the review.
I have the same exact case with the holster... and I must say my friend... your review is quite correct in all aspects... and I will second that it is indeed a very sexy addition to my SGS3

I too will co-sign this brand of cases. I have one on my Epic 4G, my girl's Epic 4G, and my EVO 3D. The case and holster combo available from Best Buy is decently priced ($30-$40) and they protect the phone well while adding minimal thickness and weight. I know my Surface Case has saved my EVO 3D from quite a few nicks and scratches.
You're welcome guys.
I've been rocking the case since this post and still have no complaints. This has been a nice investment for me. I no longer fear of putting my phone down on my work desk either face up or down and if my boss comes I I don't mind throwing the phone in my desk either. Win win!

I have some questions about this case hopefully you guys can help me with.
Can anyone comment on how slippery this case is and compare it to the slipperyness of a naked S3?
For those of you with the holster, does it hold the phone and surface securely?
Thanks everyone.

I feel that it adds a little more grip to the phone, at least i think it does. I found the phone to be too slippery when naked.
And yes it does hold it securely

Without the case my galaxy would slide across my wooden desk. The same desk you see in the last picture I posted. With the case it no longer slides. It barely moves when I try to push it across so yes it does add some grip.
Hope this helps

This is a pretty good case. I did a review on the convert combo case over at banetech.WordPress.com check it out if you want to see video action for the case. The convert combo case includes the surface case as the set and has the option of adding more protection that ends up looking something like the Otterbox Commuter Case but seems more protected like the Defender series.
But yeah I was struggling a lot with getting the surface case off. I ended up taking a thin blade to the middle to wedge the case apart. After that time though it wasn't as hard to get off. But that assures the case will not come apart if dropped.

I have the same surface case in black, below are my observations:
1) If you are using a screen protector (I use bestskinsever.com) beware, the case fits so snugly it rips the screen protector off as you slide it on.
There is a way around this:
First, let the screen protector set for a while before slipping on the case, a day or two.
Second, I removed the suede material, its very thin as it is, but this helped me fit the phone perfectly as I used the full body kit skin film on the front and back of the phone. The suede material is so thin, I highly doubt it offers any impact protection, I think its there to prevent the back of the seidio case rubbing and scratching the back plastic cover, but if you use a full body skin it doesn't matter.
2) It is a ***** to get the case open the first few times, but after a while it does get easier to open, I guess it needs to be broken in a bit, but that doesn't mean it rattles or anything, it still very snug.
3) This is a very good case, I really like it. It is minimal, covers the phone well (including the bezel on the screen) and has great grip.
4) I have had it for about 2 weeks now and the finish is staying on and hasn't started to peel off, which was a concern of mine.
5) It also hasn't scratched so far and is very easy to clean.
6) Overall I recommend it, but jut beware if you are using screen protectors, follow what I did and you should be fine either way.
Hope it helps!
Thanks for those tips. I'm currently still debating getting a screen protector. I have an issue with how screen protectors look and feel to me. I've been carrying around a microfiber cloth with me and it's been keeping my screen crystal clean. I know sooner or later a hair scratch will come so I have to decide what to do fast. At least I know I can make it fit.

Opinions on a case with kickstand

Hey folks. Frequent XDA forumer here and new owner of a SGS3.
Unfortunately, my story begins with tragedy. I got my SGS3 just a few days ago, and last night it slipped from my pocket while I was sitting in a chair and fell 2 feet onto concrete. BAM, hairline crack along the entire length of the front glass. I have to say, I'm not too pleased (my Epic 4G took worse tumbles than that without a case) and I'm ordering new glass from eBay to replace myself because the $178.61 Samsung quoted me, and the $150 deductable I'd have to pay Asurion are both complete rip-offs just to swap the front glass. I'd also just like to go on record and point out that Samsung really dropped the ball not rubberizing the back of the SGS3; the phone is beautiful but like a wet fish to handle. I suspect it wouldn't have slipped out of my pocket had it been rubberized like my Epic.
So, anyhow, enough of my bellyaching. Once I finish replacing the front glass, I need to get this thing some protection. I've looked around on eBay and seen a lot of candidates (both brands I recognize like Otterbox and UAG and otherwise) but I'd really like to hear from you guys what you think.
Here's what I'm looking for:
As thin as possible
Rubberized back or TPU shell
Has a kickstand
No extended battery
Let me know your recommendations!
EDIT - I've now been through all ~75 pages of the "Post a picture of your case along with your S3" thread and, coupled with the suggestions from this thread, I've got this running list going of options:
Qmadix Holster Shell Combo (Metalix product line)
SEIDIO ACTIVE with Kickstand
Case-Mate Pop! with Stand
Cruzerlite Spi-Force
Trident Kraken
Fosmon/GreatShield Hybrid (A lot of alternative styles with kickstand here)
GreatShield Snap Stand
Tomaxx Silikon TPU

Awesome, that's essentially what I'm looking for; some minimal protection that's rubberized and sporting a prop. My only complaint about those Qmadix Metalix models is that visually I'm not really digging the style. They're a little too flashy; I was hoping to see something just all black. But who knows, maybe I'd get used to it. I was glad to hear that the kickstand is very durable, as a lot of the no-name brands I see on eBay have props that look very flimsy.
Would love to see any other suggestions, and thanks again!
I have this: http://www.amazon.com/Aduro-Holster...qid=1352610675&sr=8-6&keywords=galaxy+s3+case
The case its self feels nice but it doesn't protect enough. My screen still broke :crying: with it because it only covers the sides and not the top and bottom. The kickstand is utter **** and falls over when you breathe because the kickstand barely sticks out.
tl;dr: it blows

Perfect. I didn't see anything like that on the Qmadix website so I didn't bother to look any further. Gotta love eBay!
EDIT - Ah, I see it now, it's listed separately due to being a holster/shell combo.

EDIT 2 - Though the prop looks a bit flimsier on this Case Mate model, it does look like it protects a bit better due to having an edge that comes around the edge of the phone, which does add a bit of bulk. Anyone have this case?

This is what I am using:
http://www.amazon.de/tomaxx-Halteru...r_1_39?s=ce-de&ie=UTF8&qid=1352640008&sr=1-39
Cheap, but at least it offers some kind of screen protection, since it envelops all sides of the phone. In my opinion a case that leaves top and bottom unprotected is just useless since those are the areas your phone will most likely hit when it drops.
And it protects the screen when you put it on a table with the screen facing down.
The case has soft sides but most of the back and three of the sides are hard plastic. Only the bottom left corner is the same "soft" material like the sides are. Buttons on the sides are encased too, so no lint or water will enter there. Still they are working pretty well, need a little more pressure though. At least your phone won't activate accidentally in your pocket as easily as it does without the case.
The soft material is some kind of hard silicone or maybe that's what they call TPA(haven't yet figured out what that is). It has a rubbery touch and makes the otherwise slippery S3 a lot saver to hold but it's not so much that you'll have problems slipping it in your pant pockets.
The kickstand only allows for landscape mode and looks rather flimsy but it's not. It stays in place when closed and has no problem holding the S3 when in use.
Trident Kraken. You can throw your phone like a football across concrete and It wouldn't damage your phone. Plus its has a kickstand and different color choices.

I've been looking at that one, though it's a little chunky and kind of on the "busy" side. In terms of protection, it does look to be one of the best sporting a kickstand.

You're probably talking about the Fosmon/GreatShield Hybrid (I've seen them branded either way). It's in the list I've added to my OP
About the Tomaxx Silikon TPU you've linked:
Tomaxx is probably only the name of the ebay seller. You can get that case everywhere, don't have to order from a german seller, when you are in the US.

Cheaper and more important: faster delivery.
Oh yeah your right. I didn't know that was manufactured by fosmon. They make so many products, and for the price, the quality is excellent.

I have involuntarily TESTED these cases (SII and SIII) and they are truly protective. never a scratch on the phone whether I crunched it in the hatch of the minivan (ouch) or tossed it 15ft into the street when some wasps decided to teach me the error of my ways as I tried to photograph them
I avoided the stingers and learned my lesson. get a zoom lens hehe
I have the orange and blue one. $12.95 shipped. you can't beat it. they have TWO STYLES for the S3 so watch it. one has a oval around the camera one has an oval with a little "cut out" (you will see what I mean) because if you don't see the exact color combo you want you can buy 2 and mix and match parts I had to do that to get the same blue orange with my S2. so make sure the two you order if you do this are the same style.
you want the "heavy duty hard" cases with the 6 little "curves" on the back like this

its the only case I will use on a day to day basis because I DO NOT have $400 to replace this phone!!
I have one well over 18 months old. NO DEGRADATION AT ALL. the silicon has not gotten loose or sloppy. here is my S2 with the case that's been on it for over 1.5 years.
sadly the blue for the S3 is much much darker. (I prefer lighter brighter colors) so once I have more cash going to order a couple other blue ones and hope one of them is a "lighter" blue. (the S3 case is WAY darker than the picture shows a dark NAVY)

I read your post in the other thread with interest. As I understand it, you combined 2 different cases together (Blue and White and Orange and White) to make your Blue and Orange combo. Unique!
There does seem to be quite a few imitations of this particular style. The Fosmon and GreatShield models mentioned above appear to be virtually the same except for the branding. Either way, all reports of these models appear to be pretty favorable!
Cruzerlite spi (style) is the one you want. I have bought many of them (iPhone, galaxy s2, galaxy s3) and am satisfied with all of them. Grippy, slim, and kickstand works great.
You can get them cheaper on eBay

Excellent choice here ^^
I have purchased a ton of cases, this one is one of my favorites.
I ended up going with the Otterbox Defender when on the job,
and the Seidio Surface case when off work.
If I had to have the same case on all the time, and had to pick only one... it would be one of the Fosmon you link to.

Review of UAG Note 2 Case with lots of pictures!

I know we already have a huge thread about UAG, but those are 65+ pages of people waiting/speculating/complaining and maybe 3-4 good reviews with pictures. So, I figured maybe to start an official review thread for UAG Note 2 case http://www.urbanarmorgear.com/collections/galaxy-note-ii
Since I don't own iPhone or S3, my experience with previous UAG cases was based on reading only reviews from others, and it seems those cases were quite popular with a huge fan base. Note 2 case introduced a new design, and that generated a mixed reviews. I'm personally looking at the case as is without comparing it to previous models.
The case came in a nice packaging box, nothing too fancy but with a clear display and highlights of the features. In addition to the case, UAG included a screen protector, a small screen cloth and a squeeze for sp installation. I can't comment on sp since I already have one installed, but I have a feeling its a basic one. I can comment it had a good cut, although didn't feel as thick as some other 3H film screen protectors.
Also, as part of new "vent" design, it came with 2 inserts in orange and black. Those are interchangeable and you can use either one. There has been a lot of discussion about quality of material used on these inserts and perhaps some people had higher expectations. These inserts are cardboard cut outs with diamond textured design and some thin laminating layer on color side. Each insert is colored on one side, while white on another side. In theory you can make your own inserts. Those have two side cut outs that align with guiding small pins inside of the case. Once you put down the insert, you better keep the case horizontal while inserting the phone, otherwise the insert will move. When phone is inserted into the case - inserts stay dead on, although if you shake the phone you will hear it move a little bit. Don't get me wrong, it looks cool as hell, and could be easily fixed with a little piece of scotch tape holding it down. The vent itself should keep air circulating which is a good idea while charging the battery.
The case is VERY light - amazing considering the high level of protection it offers at a minimum added bulk. Of course, just like any case it adds some bulk, but when you compare to other case with equivalent level of protection - this is feather-light! The construction is composite where inner protection bumper and outer shell are molded together. Yes, I would consider the inner rubber (hard TPU material) to be a bumper since it doesn't wrap around the back of the phone. The outer shell made of a very high quality impact plastic material, definitely not some cheap brittle stuff. The inner side of the plastic shell has honeycomb pattern, while the outer side is smooth and has sort of sandblasted finish. I do have to note, plastic does feel a little slippery in your hands. I have heard this will go away with time, but I still have to point it out. But since they have vent cut out in the back and also hard rubber bumper around the edges of the screen, you still get an acceptable grip when holding it in your hand. The rubber bumper doesn't pull away and fits around the edge of the phone very snugly. The only place where it pulls a little bit is at the bottom in the aread of micro-usb connector, but very slightly. It also offers a very nice lip to protect the screen of the phone when faced down, and a VERY good corner protection with some extra material while still keeping it slim and not exaggerated around corners like some other designs do. Furthermore, the back of the phone has 4 subtle stands in a shape of a torx screw head. Those are of course not real screws but rather rubber bumps, but functionally it's brilliant since you can put your phone down on the back and it will keep it from sliding!!! This little design detail is so subtle yet brilliantly functional and adds to "urban" style of the phone.
Port openings are very generous; mic openings big enough for a clear sound, micro-usb opening is wide enough to accommodate after market connectors, headphone jack should accept a connector up to 3/8". S-pen opening deserves a special mentioning. It's not your typical rectangular opening, and narrows down while still giving enough room for a nail to grab the edge of s-pen when pulling it out. Just a very nice detail. Speaker grill has a cross line which makes speaker design with a battery cover of the phone to look partitioned and cool next to the grill design. Camera and led flash openings are partitioned - a very clever idea for glare-free flash photos! Volume and power buttons have a very unique design to make them look like a separate external buttons. These buttons have a separate slit opening along one side to make them push easier. I very clever idea! I have documented all these details in my pictures.
Another comment I would like to bring up is the color of the case itself. Since I choose Navigator to compliment my white GN2, I want to mention that white of the case is a few shades brighter than white of the phone - not a big issue since those two colors don't come in contact. I do want to mention also, there is a little flex when you push down on the vents. I assume that was always part of the design even with solid back on iPhone/S3 cases. With vents cut outs, it's more visible now. I would say it could be looked as positive and negative point. Positive since it absorbs some shock if case falls down flat on its back, and negative since you are opening back door to lint and dust getting under the vent.
Overall, its a very unique design that offers both a visual eye candy and a decent level of protection to the phone. I tried to be fair in my review and describe all the positive and negative points I found, IMHO. But in my personal opinion - I highly recommend it!
As usual, I will leave the rest to the pictures. Please keep in mind due to case being white, my camera had a hard time focusing.
I'm sure some will share my opinion, others might disagree or want to add comments. If you can, please don't reply with all the pictures in the post to duplicate it.

I guess you can consider this as the first mod. Actually someone else done it before, but I'm elaborating on details with more pictures!
Yes, you can have GN2 in OEM Flip case going right into UAG case and it works! Of course, there are some limitations. You can flip the cover all the way around, unless you modify UAG case by cutting it's side (which nobody in their right mind going to do). And, because the left side is covered by flip case, UAG volume buttons will not be pushing directly on phone's volume, which makes it a lot harder to work BUT it WORKS!!! So here you go, an alternative to add flip cover to your UAG case:
Good idea and nice pics...I'd like to add my review from yesterday here so if it helps anyone good stuff.. I'd like to add day 2 and the feel is better IMO less slippery and fit seems to have settled in nicely..Keeper ..

Good job, videos are great! I'm actually thinking now about getting Scout/black for my white GN2 as well.
Just a quick question.
Ive owned a few white and clear cases and all of them started yellowing/browning.. Do you think this will happen to this one also?

Good question, but considering their make Navigator/white for iPhone 4 and S3 and I haven't read anybody complaining about those (since people been using it for awhile now), I assume it won't be an issue. I had a cheap clear case before, from ebay for a few bucks, after 3 days in my jeans pocket it got a shade of blue. I will give this case a benefit of a doubt that hard plastic material they use won't change the color. I guess time will tell, but like I said - this is an exactly the same material as older iPhone 4 and S3 cases and there is no complains about it. UAG for S3 has almost 980 reviews on Amazon with an average of 4.75 stars. I will take that as a positive sign
Thanks. Never even thought to read the reviews on Amazon..
Really liked your idea of adding the flip cover. After I colored the back of the orange back panel red, I threw the flip cover on and the new UAG case, and am lovin the results. Oh, I also used an exacto blade to remove the silver UAG lettering. Thanks for the great idea!

I started analyzing the case first hand and I'm beginning to appreciate UAG's design more and more. Some people complain about not getting their previous design you see on the S3, but I understand why UAG did this. It is all about trying to chip off as much excess weight from the case as possible without compromising protection and style. Throughout the case you will see that besides the vents, the insert is not a full piece but just covers the vents nicely (more weight off there), there are grooves, and the inside TPU back is also honey-combed, to reduce the overall weight as much as possible. With a big phone like Note 2, I think this is a very wise decision by them. If they used the old design, the case would probably be a bit heavier than what we have now.
Overall I think it is a great case. Possibly the best case out there that scores in every category in style, protection & functionality in my humble opinion. 9.5/10
@vectron, i appreciate your review. its basically the same thing i would have said i f i did a review on this case. at the end of the day this case is a great investment. functionallity, quality & great design are all incorporated into this and you will not be let down. i couldnt be happier with it.

Didn't work with smart dock. It would fit in if you force it but doesn't go in far enough to make any connection. Also will not work in the battery charger. Here it fits in but falls forward. Price you pay for protection I guess. No big deal to me, I will just take case off when I put in dock. Now if I was using dock every day for charging, it may be a bigger deal.

Can any comment on the comparisonf of this UAG case with the likes of OTterbox Commuter and Ballistic SG series in terms of weight, protection, ease of use and slippery feel, etc?

My fondness of the UAG Navigator is starting to waver a bit. I am realizing it makes the phone quite a bit more wide, almost to the point I don't like the way it feels in my hand. As odd as this sounds, I might go back to the hyperion extended battery and case (newer style) as that feel is about as solid as I have found when it comes to cases on the Note 2. Plus, for about one milimeter difference, I am packing a 6200mAh battery, and the phone is quite a bit less wide in my hand. The attached photo shows the height difference between the hyperion and the UAG.

It fits perfectly. The only problem is the cover itself doesn't have a lot of room to move, so it won't open all the way, making typing with your left hand sort of cumbersome. Just install the flip cover, then the UAG case.
Yep, Note 2 with flip cover fits right into the UAG case. Take a look at my Post#2 in this thread, you can see from the pictures it fits right in, although with a few limitations like can flip the cover all the way back and volume buttons need to be pushed harder since you pushing on them through the flexible side of flip case.

Almost "real" Defender and Survivor cases for Note2

You guys know me in the forum for posting a lot of reviews with pictures, all from original manufacturers. I'm fascinated with N2 accessories, especially cases It seems that we have plenty of slim and every day uses cases out there. But when it comes to a rugged case (non ebay), everybody turns to Defender as a staple of ruggedness. I had one too a few months back, used it for a couple of days, exchanged it for another one, called Otterbox support - all ended up being a common problem related to their plastic built in screen protector not sitting flush with a screen of the phone, thus ruining the whole touch experience, almost making it feel like a resistive touch screen. But anyway, we had plenty of discussion about this subject, don't want to start it all over again. I was also impressed with Griffin Survivor case for S3, but they never made it for Note 2. Survivor is even more rugged than Defender, and actually has full screen protection including covering of every single port.
So, once I found on-line someone is selling "copy" of Defender and Survivor for Note 2 - I was intrigued to see how it will stack up to the real cases. The results - I was actually very impressed. I don't want to go into details of case review/design since it's not necessary. I had real Defender before, and quite familiar with its construction and material feel. Knock off part is a carbon copy of it. It even weights the same. I was worried at first the inner plastic shell will be a cheap brittle plastic and outer rubber shell will be "sticky" and cheap. It's actually high quality plastic and rubber feels exactly the same. I do have to note that plastic screen protector part sits perfectly on top of the screen, no sensitivity problems even with me using iSmooth screen protector, and no marks from s-pen. It was thinner than original Otterbox, and I was even able to push a corner of the screen protector out, but then I press on it with a finger and it went back (the glue part holding it together is actually some sticky stuff that is not hard). You'll be the judge how it looks from all the pictures I took.
With Survivor, I can only judge quality of material based on a comparison with my Survivor case for my kids iPod Touch. Feels identical, and high quality. Again, plastic screen protector had some issues because it looks like it has two layers with inner one was coming loose. [EDIT] - it was due to inner protective layer which I had to remove. Screen protector is good!!! [/EDIT] - its a very impressive and functioning rugged case with superior protection. Some of the port plugs have a very thin attachment string of rubber, and I wasn't careful when removing a belt clip so micro-usb port got ripped out, but it fits very snuggly inside of the port and still functional.
The bottom line, those are not perfect, and I can't comment on longevity of their use. But based on the details of design copy and how it feels, not to mention the price - these are VERY IMPRESSIVE!!!
So, here are the pictures for your enjoyment. Again, please keep in mind, these are NOT REAL Otterbox and Griffin cases, but rather "copy", where in case of Survivor it's a copy of the case which doesn't even exist yet!

It's a "copy" because Defender is not original Otterbox and Survivor is not original Griffin. It's a same as if you would go to China town in NYC and buy $50 Rolex watch. Except in this case the quality is VERY close to original...
To clarify, these are REAL cases that look, feel, and function like original (except for plastic screen protectors)... If you go to Griffin website, they do not even offer Survivor case for Note 2.

I also would like to know where did you buy them (send me a pm in case you don't want to post the store here please).
My Note 2 screen got broke yesterday ( the Protective Cover doesn't protect a sh*t) and althoguh I already repaired it I don't want to go through the same situation again so I'm looking for some really good cases.
does the survivor fit in the belt clip face in?
Vectron, the inner layer definitely needs to be removed, it's only to protect the plastic during packaging, same as a lot of products.
Do it, now, and your quality of life will improve immensely. This messy nylon doesn't belong there.
With your permission, to keep the discussion flowing, here's my review of the "Survivor" knockoff from the other thread:
Bottom line: Far from having any elegance in shape or feel, this big plastic/rubber contraption protects your phone really well.
It took me some moments of reflection to align myself with reality - it is what it is, a cheap Chinese knockoff model that doesn't even exist yet by the original company. Isn't it nuts?
I do believe Vectron's report that the original Survivor and this one are of the same quality. Even so, it's not good enough IMHO, I wouldn't have been happy to pay full price for it. For the price I did pay, I am happy.
The rubber feels toyish and cheap (I still stand by it!), not up to the standard of the device it covers. I'm just being sincere here, on any scale - it's kinda crappy.
Very sticky though, doesn't slide (face up or down), but can be a real struggle to pocket. The w/h dimensions aren't too crazy, but overall thickness is sick.
With only the inner hard plastic, the phone is already protected well. Then the outer rubber and front screen cover lock in. After careful setup everything sits well and secure.
All the cutouts (S-pen, earphones, USB, camera) have retractable rubber seals that fit good, even though the cut lines are a bit shaggy.
The seals' flexible parts are kinda flimsy, already my (and Vectron's) USB cover has separated. Still holds with pressure, but can get lost. It's just the way they manufacture it, a replacement will be the same. The other covers are held sturdier it seems. The cam cover is the next suspect though, the thin thread easily loses it's grip on the inner layer.
Buttons work great, access is quick and sensitive.
The screen sits tight and works perfectly. Doesn't feel as nice as glass (expected), or other quality plastics.
After less than a week's normal use, it's already foggy and scratched at some areas. No amount of cleaning or polishing can helps that. Still usable, and the sensitivity is as good as new. It's ugly though, and will become uglier no doubt. It's just a thin, cheap piece of plastic film, the same products' boxes windows are made from.
I'm looking REAL HARD at glass replacements now.
^^^ If someone has any insight onto this, please share!
Belt clip is very usable, lockable. Can't mount phone safely face in. UPDATE: Well, I broke it! Just with normal use, at the swivel axis. Another epoxy job waiting...
Tried a small workout with it attached to my pants backside. Bulky as expected, but it didn't fall, and felt pretty secure.
One or two drops of sweat landed on the center of the screen, quickly accumulated to the screen's sides, from there penetrating the inside, wetting the phone with my toxic acidity. I had to take the screen off and clean it later. It is not waterproof. It is not 100% dust proof either. I'm handy with adhesives and stuff so I'll figure something out it this gets worse.
If anyone is considering purchasing this case, I recommend it if:
1. You really need a full enclosure type of protective case.
2. You'd rather not pay $60 for it.
3. You order other stuff from them as well to make it worthwhile with shipment from China.
4. You are willing to forget it is a sleek, luxury, super high tech device from the future you're holding. :cyclops:

Funny you mentioned, cause I got those too, the earbud version of it I can't compare it to original beats to judge A/B, but the one I got had a lot of bass and not much treble. Felt a little muddy in lows and not clear in highs. Perhaps that's how original beats sound? But if you think about it, you can duplicate the look (package looks authentic, down to magnetic closure of the box), but you can't duplicate the driver circuit of those headphones. But typically cheap earbuds have exaggerated high frequencies and hardly any bass. These one have the opposite, which could be the signature of original beats?
Also, it came with in-line push button which actually pauses the audio you are playing, either mp3 or YT video. I haven't tried it with calling, but I wonder if its pauses/mutes the audio when you receive a call? Also, the headphone cable is neatly flat.

it's a little wobbly when faced in the belt clip, but still works!

Maybe they are just unbranded ones. A lot of these companies just buy pre designed/made cases and stamp their logo on them then call them their original.

Nice looking case, too expensive though
Price is steep . Anything over $30-35 needs to blow my socks off, and this most definitely NOT
I'll post some pics when I get it. Its exactly what I have been looking for!

This looks slick, but the price is crazy.
Overall, a nice piece of kit. I like the cloth exterior, sticthing is decent. There is a little cloth tab with the Google corporate colors. Well-made, plastic/silicon-rubber/some-synthetic-stuff brackets hold the tablet in place quite well (takes a little effort to snap in the 2 bottom corners). Cutouts for everything - rear camera, usb, speakers, power, volume controls. The cutouts for power & volume make them easy to locate by feel. Supports 2 view angles in landscape, portrait is near-vertical (almost useless). Does not add a too much thickness to the tablet, although it's more than the slots on some cheap folding tablet stands can accomodate. Removing tablet takes a little effort (those 2 bottom corners) but is not unacceptably difficult. It is as perfect a fit as I've found in covers available at local stores (which are usually generic 7" tablet cases, no experience yet with the Poetic covers).
There is no clasp or closure to keep the case closed. I may have found a use for old Livestrong and other charity wrist bands assuming they will stretch enough. Does not appear to be a magnet in the cover to make the tablet sleep or waken.
I do not have a Qi charger to test if one would work with this case. (PM me if you have one you would like to donate to the cause. I will give it a good home and daily love & attention. )
Price is ridiculous and without a BestBuy gift card burning a hole in my wallet, would have passed. Should be $25, $30 max.
Edit: Whoops - different case than what the OP posted. I have the Nexus_7_2013_Case_Gray_Blue case (forum not allowing me to post links yet)
That's about what I paid for my case when I bought the 8.9 HDX, as it was discounted as an add-on item. HOWEVER, the HDX case is just cool. It uses magnets to perform functions, like launching the camera when you slide the tab up, it folds up pretty neatly, again using magnets, in an origami fashion (& holds the device at USABLE angles in both portrait & landscape) & lastly, it is made out of a very supple genuine leather. Not PU, LEATHER. Nice leather, that keeps getting softer & smells great, like a new mit.
For $5 I can get a similar case on Amazon. For $40 to $50, I expect it to be premium, like Amazon has done.

I had that case before my Poetic. The Poetic is superior in every way.

This is exactly what I'm looking for with exactly not the right price. Hopefully they start making knockoffs of it soon. What I like about this (over cases by poetic et al) is it lets you see the back so if you have a skin or something you can easily see it.
Just got it. Already took it back off and replaced with Asus Premium case. I have the LTE version by the way.
The bumper fit, but was loose on the sides with a bit of wiggle. The open back just didn't feel right to me when holding it. Cover was soft touch but felt a little cheap on the edges, and it had an odd smell. All these things combined just make the cover feel flimsy and cheap.
There is a magnet (finally!) that will wake the device, but it is not strong enough to keep the cover closed. A clasp or elastic band would have been nice for that.
Wireless charging works just fine with this cover as you would expect.
Not worth the money in my opinion. Doesn't feel right in the hand, which is all that matters to me.

Thank god I ordered the Premium Cover back than , hope it will arrive soon.
And you right, what the point of open back? heh, it look's like the bumper for nexi 5 with a flip..
You say the Premium cover is indeed Premium at all?

The open back could be used to reveal a custom skin. To me the bumper would mainly serve as a frame to attach to the flip cover which protects the front of the screen. As of now this seems like the closest thing to the iPad's SmartCover. Unfortunately this price is ridiculous; the product doesn't look "premium" at all nor is it made of any "premium" materials.

My red folio arrived this afternoon, and I'm returning it tomorrow. I agree with everything above, except I didn't notice any smell. I just can't believe how cheap it feels:
1. The magnets don't keep the case closed
2. The fit is too loose
3. It feels as if the whole thing will rip apart with just daily use
I already put my poetic slimline back on.

I bought the official folio case as well. I have been using the other official Google Nexus 7 Case up until now, but didn't like that I couldn't a) wirelessly charge with it on and b) it didn't have the magnetic cover to activate the screen. The folio did, so I decided to jump for it.
What a mistake! It feels extremely cheap and looks cheap. When the cover is folded back, it sticks out about 3/4 of an inch past the device, so gripping it is weird. The 'hinge' for the cover is not smooth -- I'm constantly fighting with it. The folding portion is awkward... especially with that hinge.
I greatly prefer the other official case... it actually has a premium fit, finish and feel. If only it met all my requirements. Not sure which case I will use long term. [EDIT]: I'm returning the folio case. I'd rather use a USB charger and activate the screen manually than use this POS.
