[Q] Bloatware on Xperia Play question... - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, I recently rooted my Xperia Play (This is the first time I have ever "modified" a phone so I am unsure of some of the files on my system and what they do (or if I can safely remove them). I did check the sticky but it was pretty vague and I would rather not delete something unless it specifically matched what was said letter for letter. I would like to minimize my risk as much as possible.

If anyone knows what some or all of these do and could tell me which ones I can safely delete I would very much appreciate it. Thanks!

Most of those you shouldnt delete, I would keep them all tbh. The Play as Stock isnt exactly bloat filled anyway. If you really want a performence boost you'd want to look at custom kernels and overclocking.

Download (SystemCleanUp) from market
It lets you know what apps you can delete safely and what you can't

I always delete everything I can and my phone never has problems
I also delete the calling feature to
and all the calling related crap
Basically turning it back into a PSP

I don't know what to say but... You don't deserve the Xperia PLAY -_______-

Update: I figured out which for files to keep and which to delete. I am interested in installing a custom ROM now but I am unsure on how to proceed. I want to be able to overclock my processor but I am new it all. I have R800x model rooted via zergrush (2.3.3 original android version). I am on a CDMA network. Is there a way for me to install a new ROM and kernel and whatnot to start overclocking my phone that is simple enough? I do not know if my bootloader is unlocked or not, but I think it's still locked. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I deleted most of those but some I kept, especially if it starts with 'com. blah blah'

Yea man, you aren't going to get any help without giving us more details.... What kind of apks? Where are they from? What do you mean you "can't install them"? Does it give you an error? Are you rooted? What rom? What kernal?
I had this issue a while back, go into Titanium Backup and fix permissions.
It's worth a shot.
market wont load
I installed destroyer rom on my HTC evo 4g, I have android version 2.3.3, kernel version 2.6.37.3-cyanogemmod-0123-g53c6890 [email protected] #1, (whatever that means), CPU info ARMv&7 processor rev2 (v7l), MOd vers cyanogenmod-7.0.0-rc2-supersonic-kang, build # GR140. I hope all this info helps, wasnt sure what you guys would need to help fix problem but here is whats going on.
when i click on the market icon , it acts like it wants to load but doesnt, if i clear data, it then asks to create google account,..I have a google account, but when i click okay to create google account it doesnt do anything..
not sure if this is related but also tried to install flash player and it would install..
I am really new to this, and probably shouldnt have attempted to root my phone and install other than stock stuff...but everything else works and its definetly really fast, and cool...
any suggestions
Also; i installed the new market apk. 3.3.111 , i think?,..same thing = says "must add an account to the device to continue. do you want to continue...i click yes,,and NOTHING
Please Help!!!!!
For one thing, Destoyer was based on Android 2.1 I'm pretty sure, so that COULD be an issue. I mean, it's a pretty old ROM.
Hey man, I say flash a new rom, try some of these listed below
e3d shooter port (has 4g and sense 3.0)
Synergy (4g and sense 2.1 also extremely stable) - my daily driver
FEARmede (no 4g, runs sense 3.5) - Jared and dropzero work hard on this and things are getting fixed everyday.
if you like aosp try
cyanogen mod (4g very stable, have to install gapps to get market)
miui (no 4g, very clean ui, iphone replica almost is your an iphone fan)
savage mod 1.4 (4g, stable, the rom i run when using aosp)
I am running cm7.1 I cannot install any non market apps unknown sources are checked but I cannot get apostle to install. I get to the install screen try to push the button and it dose nothing. I have the stock kernal. Also since o Jane upgraded to 7.1 my video chat dose not work I use oovoo because this is the only app that work on Canada to US.

Unrooted Gingerbread (Android 2.3.6)
I have Samsung Galaxy Note N7000 & a Galaxy SL I9003 both runs official Android 2.3.6 unrooted JBED (all versions) dont work .
For rooted device its already available. Both when it will be available for unrooted phones. I dont want to use custom roms as they contain little bugs and void warranty
...you are right , this works for me and I'm in 2.3.6, thanks a lot!
Help! Jbed cannot run in Android 4.0!
I can run it in Android2.3.*, but I cannot run it in Android 4.0. The error is : Force Close!
HELP!
It's good application! Please upgrade it.
hi bro, I hope you all fine.
I didn't try this on ruu Android 4.0 roms yet, but I'll do it and then I gonna tell you the result.
remember... your device MUST be rooted. why? '"becsuse Jbed is not a normal app or a communal app, It's developed by HTC to use on HTC devices so you can see it in some phones like HTC Desire HD v2.1 by it's default. So because of that... to install this spp you must have a trick, by rooting the device you able to run this kind of aaplications on any other phones. Rooting will let you to move .Lib file or any specific files to your phone. Now I'm trying to install HTC Car and Camera from HTC One X on Gingerbread.
It's an original version of android 2.3.5 It is normal to have some errors on Andrid 4.0... I'll find the special version for it soon...
Good Luck
Thanks a lot!

hey i have SGSL I9003 and i am on Stock ROM..
ok
firstly, you don't need to flash a custom ROM to root your i9003.
you can root your stock ROM
see here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=987169
next.
some custom roms do not contain bugs as they have been well tested..
and last
rooting voids your warranty but you can get your warranty back just by unrooting the phone.
unroot version

May Allah bless you, that's fantastic app.
It's fine for apps if you're using horizontal but it's flickering when I try to use it vertically. Do you have a solution for this? (I have Samsung ACE S5830i)
MB526
masha Allah Works on Defy+ with Cyanogen mod 7.2. But the problem is from where can i get the virtual keys as this apps are not touch optimized
Hi my friends... I hop you all fine
Sorry I was have some exams and I didn't have time to check you replays.
about the vertical mod you've asked... I must say its the initial problem in this version of Jbed... I have tried some ways to mod this app but I didn't succeed. If HTC continues the update of this app, maybe they can fix this problem or a professional programmer could help us
I changed my device to HTC One X now I trying to have Jbed on android 4.0.4 and above if I find a way I'll gonna show you how to do this.
Thanks for replays :good:

how to restore the original software xperia play?

hello people of XDA, today I come with a problem I emerged.
Following the appearance of new Xperia play ICS beta install decided to see how it worked, so I have to unlock the bootloader, in doing so I find that I can no longer update but my computer from SEUS.
I would ask for a solution to this problem, my back your original software XPlay, and to continue updating it with no problem
I leave the details of my Xperia Play:
Model: R800i
Android Version: 2.3.4
Compilation Number: 4.0.2.A.0.58
I'm from Mexico and I hope I can help.
Note: Only provide if you have tried this solution and are 100% that it works.

Would a stock rom restore Crash Bandicoot and Bruce Lee?
Not that I'm too concerned about playing them but being a noob with an android phone I've kinda deleted Bruce Lee (even though it still appears as an icon). I was wondering if I re-apply a stock rom for the Xperia Play would the rom file include the two included games: Bruce Lee and Crash?
Depends on the FTF file.

I've been playing around with the different SONY Ericsson stock ROMS after I did a test for the ICS ROM and some of that include Bruce Lee, but Crash Bandicoot should be included because Crash is pretty much the only playstation pocket game available when they released the phone. Hope this helps, and also there are links to all 3 different versions of the 2.3.4 Gingerbread ROMs if you go to the xperiagamer .com website and then select rooted zone, stock ROMs and choose 2.3.4 as it's the latest and choose the correct one,
Note the main 3 are for R800i and the other R800a.
Also there are guides on how to get things to work on this site, Ive used it for most of my needs.
Hope this helps.
IMaKitch
Thanks ImaKitch,
I think it's just OCD - i either want Bruce Lee on there or not at all. The fact that his icon appears on my dash niggles me - enough to flash it and start again.

If you use SEUS with an unlock bootloader, your phone will brick. To relock your bootloader, flash the ftf file here. DRM can't be restored though.

How to add cards on Android Pay with your Sony Xperia Z5 / Z5P

After contacting google and their twitter account and even calling in without a solution, and kept referring me back to if it met the requirements and is non rooted, modified or if the device was a USA purchase etc. i decided to just play around with what i had and here we go, it turned out to be so simple and for somewhat reasons google couldn't give this as a solution.
Solution to this:
*What you'll need:
- 2 devices ( your main, secondary [doesn't matter if it's a tablet, we're using it as a dummy to add the card(s)] )
- ... that's pretty much it lols
*Procedures:
1) on the secondary device download the android pay app and login to the same google account.
2) add the card that you want and verify and confirm it.
3) on your main device (in this case the sony xperia z5 / z5P) you'll notice that you'll be able to use and add cards with no more errors.
4) enjoy!
note: i tried to make this as simple as possible, let me know if you encounter any problems, as for the device did this for the error fix was my sony z5 premium international unlocked under a stock rom and non rooted or modified. so im not sure if this same case would apply for those who're rooted or modified but give it a try and let me know ^^

Worked like a charm, big thumbs up!
Google kept giving me crap like, "We do not currently support international or unlocked devices..." and, "If you've rooted your phone or unlocked the bootloader then it won't be able to use Android Pay..." even though I told them over and over again that my Z5P is 100% stock, locked BL, not rooted, etc.
I'll spread the word to friends of mine with Z5/C/P phones from various different countries of origin and let them know T&P works again with this trick.

How can i RooT my 2.3.4 "SonyEricsson XPERIA Play (R800i)" with build number xxx.69?

How can i RooT my 2.3.4 "SonyEricsson XPERIA Play (R800i)" with build number xxx.69?
Ok so....i have been looking for some tutorials (semi NooB here) and i cant seems to find some new one or one that is consistend or just about root.
Also many are outdated, poorly written, and there arent many tutorials as i saw about RooT-ing XPERIA Play, at least not the one with build number .69.
Also if i DO find some good (as i saw from comments) like this one for example: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2204321 (i mean i only really trust XDA forum for stuff i do to my phone) the links for necessary files are long gone.
So...if anyone can please help me or rederect me to some updated, good and thread or website with tutorial that HAS working links, please do!
Anyway...
So i got "SonyEricsson XPERIA Play" (R800i) with build number 4.0.2.A.0.69, With Android version 2.3.4. Its never been RooT-ed as i know.
So i just want to RooT it so i can remove ANNOYING bloatware and free up some space and make it clean teh way I want tbh! I see no other reason to RooT it... I mean there is one but im still thinking about it (for now) and that is, as i heard, since X-Play doesnt have any OFFICIAL updaes, its stuck on Android 2 (gingerbread) i heard that i can flash a ROM to Android 4, and that improves gaming, which is what i want TBH, i mainly, if not always, use this phone for gaming and emulators, and if Android 4 custom ROM can improve already great (for X-Play ofc) performance, id be happy to do so!!!
But first thing first, i like to get informed first of all... But as for now, im just looking help for first step, and that is: How to RooT my XPERIA Play, please?
Thanks guys! ^^
Anyone..i tried numerous stuff, but im constantly stuck..cant seems to rood. idk what am i doing wrong
[HOW-TO][zergRush Root] Root w/ v2.2.x-2.3.x (NOT ICS 4.x or GB after 11/2011)
This thread is a collaboration by myself, paxChristos, DooMLorD, & amishxda. Please give credit where credit is due. Thanks. This method has been confirmed to work on all models of the Xperia PLAY - R800x / R800i / R800a / R800at. Also works...
