I don't know but for some reason battery life has been horrible since I switched to beastmod yesterday it lasted only 6 hours and 45 minutes when the phone was on 3g. When I'm on wifi, I get around 19 hours. No offense to the developer (it is a great ROM) just curious as people on this forum have reported
excellent battery performance on this ROM.

Battery life for me was better then stock. With regular (periodic) use I would get around 23 hours, with heavy use around 12 hours. Could be the install or wipe the battery stats.
Let the battery do like 3 or 4 cycles..

My battery life is doing great. Give it time.

I'd recommend an app that helped me extend my battery life. "Traffic Monitor" by RadioOpt GmbH. I was able to identify apps that were eating up data and battery.

Any tips or threads on battery conditioning? I have a new extended battery for my DX.

Just go though the standard conditioning cycle a couple times. You know, drain battery fully so it won't turn on,let charge till full, leave on charger another 2 hours, repeat. Got my battery (regular) to go from 4 hours to a good 12 doing that.
Cool. Thanks. So don't charge first just put in phone and drain?

I am on serendipity 6.2 and suckerpunch#59 kernel, trying to stretch my battery life is always a hassle - is there a real solution here for me on the Samsung Captivate?
If you delete or freeze telelocation provider in an app like titanium backup it yeilds about 8 - 15 percent more battery but if you do so it will be really hard for emergency response people to locate you just based off your phone number.

if you started at 100%, and now only have 50% with 3hrs of usage, then you're getting bad battery life. You should be able to avg about 10hours or so MINIMUM depending on how you use your phone
Then again, if you had the screen on for 3 hours constantly, then you're getting great battery life
we would need to see the rest of the battery stats to give you a better accurate decision on your battery life
I averaged 12 hours with moderate to heavy use with 4g always on. At that 12th hour my phone was at 0%.
Run your battery to 0% a few times. You should see at least 6 hours of constant use and 10+ on a regular day.

I don't see a thread like this for the T-mobile variant so I figured we can have our own. It would be nice if you included the following with your posts:
screenshots including on screen time, information about your rom, kernel, etc. and estimated talk, text, browsing, and gaming time, and what brightness you had your screen on (auto, full, etc.). If you use something like SetCpu with profiles list your profiles and settings here too.
I'll start:
This is only my second cycle charge on this device. I only got it 2 days ago now which means it still has room for improvement
My sig has my rom info and I basically did a lot of twitter browsing, about 100 texts a few short minute phone calls including an hour long call when it was at around 10%, a lot of XDA reading, and no gaming today.
I have the device overclocked to 1.89ghz with this kernel with min set at 384mhz ondemand governor. I have a profile that clocks down to 1.5ghz at 50% battery life and another that clocks down to 1ghz at less than 10%.
I've never had a device give me 4h on screen time especially with the abuse I give this device. I can't wait to try out other kernels and roms to see these numbers rise.
I could get a day and a half with no tweaking and low usage, on an average day I'm getting ~15 hours before it starts whining about the battery
Yeah but what's your on screen time?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
Right?! That's what it comes down to. It doesn't matter if your battery life is amazing if the reason why is because you barely if ever use your phone...
I'll post tonight just got my new anker battery.

Considering your screen was barely on during those 18 hours I can see you didn't use the device much. This is barely average.

I could make it 24 hours easily with light usage. With moderate to heavy usage, probably around 20 hours. It really depends on how long the screen is on though. This phone has amazing battery life. My HTC Amaze probably only lasted half as long.

I agree, best battery life I have had out of all of my previous smartphones. I am still testing roms and kernel combinations to figure out what works best for how I use my device. I'm in the middle of testing FSG3 rom with trinity kernel. Will post up battery usage within the next 2 days to compare to my previous Stock rom with Adama 003 kernel battery life.
My Screen
Pretty Good so far, Stock Rom - Rooted - Still 40% left.
This is with the fsg3 rom and trinity kernel. First and only cycle so far. Brightness 100% wifi on most of the time, and data and gps always on. Played music for about half an hour and browsed xda for half an hour.
Edit: screen on time was just over 4 hours deleted the ss by accident.
Will post up the 2nd cycle when it's done.

New screen shots after a few cycles. Again fsg3 rom with trinity alpha 36 kernel. Brightness 100% wifi on most of the time, and and auto sync also on.
Look at screen time on not just total battery time. This is what determines good battery life not letting your device sleep on your desk for 2 days and saying you get amazing battery life.

I just got my s3 a couple days ago and am just wondering what I should expect for battery life from a stock, unrooted phone? I keep auto bright on, keep wifi on, and only have google mail auto syncing. In 2.5 hours it is at 92% with 15 mins of screen on time. I've never had a Samsung before, my last phone was a sensation so I can't really compare the two. Is this pretty standard and would rooting and a custom rom make much difference?
I used to get 10 hours with very heavy usage I'm on frosty jb v3 now I get up to 14-17 hours moderate use. Not sure for everyone else but my battery life has been amazing with this phone.
Make sure u have power saver on
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
Thanks, I noticed the power saver setting but haven't tried it yet. It doesn't slow the phone down too much?
With heavy use I usually get around 12 hours with over 3 hours of screen time. I'm running freegs3 with the newest Trinity kernel and no powersaving options on
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
It depends on what your usage is, if you game alot and stream alot I have seen some people get between 8-12 and with moderate usage I have seen between 12-15 hours and with minimal usage I have seen some go over 24 hours.

Battery life is very good compared to the previous releases. I ran for forty minutes with Bluetooth turned on while listening to tune in radio and using endomondo app. Google now turned on. I lost fifteen percent compared to losing 35% with similar usage. Very satisfied.
What do you think?

Bit unnecessary. To answer the question it's too early for me to thoroughly test battery life.

I would wait for at least 2 complete battery cycles to make a thread like this.

Ditto. My phone ran like a champ on a freshly flashed ROM. Then my phone realized it was born as a Verizon-Nexus mutt and had a psychological breakdown to the point of 1.75 hours of on-screen time the day after.
Twas a sad day
I'm reading my work email over the exchange service account. After upgrde to 4.2 the exchange service process eats my whole battery so I can't tell about any improvement.

When it comes to battery life (in general, though especially true with this newest release), it's crazy how many divergent opinions you get. Some people claim to get amazing battery life (exactly what quantifies for amazing?) and some people claim the battery life is crap. This is just to remind you that unless you have a good way of measuring battery life, your measurements can be plus/minus hour(s). Someone who just leaves their phone on a black screen with no wi-fi and cell may get 10 hours of screen-on time. Someone who is watching videos with cell/wi-fi might only get 2 hours of screen-on time.
In the future, I can make two recommendations:
Always report a complete cycle (from 100% to close to 0%). This is because the battery does not discharge at a constant rate.
Always report screen on time
Average for GNexus in previous builds was 2-4 hours. I've no idea about the plus/minus, but they tend not to be under 2 and over 4 with moderate usage. I think an average of 3-3.5 hours is what most people are happy to report.
And that is really sad because my old atrix used to get over 8 hours on Wi-Fi with over twelve hours of standby time. I wish they would make this phone but with a smaller screen size. The technology used on this phone is not battery efficient at all.

This tells us nothing....u don't show ur screen on time and uve been charging off and on..
Battery life in sleep mode is worse for me. I am losing 3% an hour with the screen off, I used to lose only 3% total overnight with the screen off not per hour. I tested this over the last 4 hours only waking the tablet up long enough to check the battery level and it has gone down by 3% each time. Nothing has changed with any apps or setting since I upgraded from 4.1.2 to 4.2. I got concerned when I noticed this morning that my battery was over 15% less then when I went to sleep. Anyone else notice this?
This is very good battery by my standards.
