Can users turn off accepting of PMs ? I sent a PM to a developer maybe a week ago. When I looked at my sent items, it doesn't show up. Then I imagined I backed out without hitting the right button, maybe I didn't it from my phone and something glitched, etc, etc. So today, I sent a 2nd one. I'm 99% sure... Checked and it doesn't show up in sent again.
Finally, I sent a 3rd PM, subject "test", and it also doesn't appear.
Yes you can turn PMs off and alot of developers do do this due to hundreds of pointless pm's

A good way to test if they have disabled PMs is to click on their username and choose send PM. If they have chosen to block them, you'll receive a message stating this.
And you also need to enable a setting allowing sent pms to be saved (in User CP)

That's what I'd expect if someone has blocked or turned them off. That's any person's right to do so, of course ! I would hope the system would let a sender know too...

I've never had to enable a 'save sent PMs' option on any vB site. If it's an option, I presume it's already on by default.
I have plenty of sent PMs currently too, so unless it was turned off since the last ones I sent previously, it should be okay.

I just recently flashed mikrunny's v1.01 and ever since I did so I keep getting this random text message from the number 6250 and the contents usually say either vzwnmn:1 or vzwnmn:2. At first it didn't bother me but now its starting to annoy me. Any idea of what it means/is.

Its was am idea Verizon had to let you know you had an email...turned into a bug. Forgot how to disable it lol
Sent from my Incredible 2 using xda premium
There are two ways to disable it. The easiest is to go into the message, push menu, and select block messages. I think it will ask you to set up a password, so do so. It will then say no messages found. Press menu, block list, and then press the plus button, and add 6250, and press okay. Then back out, delete the message, and you should never see another one again, until you flash a new rom.
The second option is to go to the my verizon website and go to the sync options and turn it off, but I always have trouble finding it and it doesn't stick between flashes either, so the phone way is just as good.
Thanks for the help. I love this community. Probably the most helpful out there

WhatsApp works fine... only gripe I have with it is it doesn't have the capability on Androids to only show one checkmark instead of 2 when a message has not been read yet.
iPhones have this capability, and as far as I know, blackberries do too...
but oh well...

Uhhhh, no it doesn't. Send a message to an Android phone. It gives you two checkmarks straight away, even if the person hasn't read it yet.

No, I've contacted support on this, they say that's by design with no plans in changing it. It gives two checks right away even though you haven't read it yet

I can confirm the single check mark is very much a feature in the android version.. turns to two when read. you might think it doesn't if the person you're messaging is reading the message instantly.

With all due respect, I think you guys are missing something here... I've already spoken to support and the 2 checkmark issue effects only sending a message to Android phones only. A screenshot does not do anything as I have no idea what kind of phone the recipient has.
1. If THE RECIPIENT has an Android phone and a message is sent to them, you will see 1 checkmark instantly, followed by the second checkmark a second later, regardless of if they read it or not. The only time it will not show the second checkmark is if the recipient phone is OFF.
2. If THE RECIPIENT has an iPhone, it will show one checkmark until the person reads it. According to support, this is caused by the way iPhone's handle the messages.
I've already had an email conversation with WhatsApp Support/Developers about this issue, and they effectively recognize the issue as Android's handle the notifications differently than iPhones.
So if your phones do it as intended (Recipients are Androids), then you obviously know something the actual Developers don't.
I just told you the recipient has a galaxy Nexus. even now, the double check mark hasn't shown up since he's probably sleeping. why would I lie about this?

Ok thats the whole point... he may be sleeping with the phone off....
Listen... it BLATENTLY states what I am trying to say in:
www.whatsapp.com/faq under "What are those green checkmarks next to my messages"
"We are glad you asked. These green checkmarks are actually very important since they function as message delivery acknowledgement indicators. Here is what they mean:
One checkmark - message successfully delivered to the server.
Two checkmarks - message successfully deliverd to the device of the chat partner. (note: this does not indicate that the message was read, just that it was delivered"
Not much more I could say to that. After speaking to the developers, they have no plans on changing this, and the reason why iPhones function that way is because of the way iPhones handle messages.

it means, his galaxy nexus doesn't have connection now (3g/wifi disabled, or phone off)
if the phone was on, and the 3g/wifi was enabled, u will see the 2 green marks right after the 1 green mark..i can confirm u this
also when a user receive the message in the background, he can open the notification or not (or also he can have the phone in the pocket and not unlocking it), thats why it doesn't mean the message is read..android can receive the message even if the phone is in standby with screen off, this doesnt happen on the iphone i think
will be nice if in the future they add a third green mark to indicate the message is read

If I still have it, sure. I'm not at home right now, but i'll check my inbox when i get home.
It was a while ago though.
Fact remains, you could test this yourself... as I did, with my Galaxy Nexus, My Wife's SGS2, and my friends iCrap.
Guys, today after school I saw that all the statusses of my contacts were error: blablabla. I tried to refresh (in whatsapp) with no luck.
After receiving the following message, and after forwarding it to 18 ppl, i refreshed again to look if it would work.. It did work. The statusses of my contacts were back. I am just posting this here for you guys to get the statusses back. I am NOT trolling, I tested it on my phone, my sisters phone and my dads phone. I know the blue icon and red icon doesn't make sense without an app update or something like that, but the point is, after forwarding the message i got my statusses back!!( of my contacts!)
The message:
Before you read this, go to your contacts and look at everyones status! Should say error: status unavailable.
Hello everyone, it seems that all the warnings were real, the use of WhatsApp cost money from summer 2012.
If you send this string to 18 different on your list, your icon will be blue and will be free for you.
If you do not believe me see tomorrow at 6 pm ending WhatsApp and have to pay to open it, this is by law

Well ironically my contacts have "Error: status unavailable" on all of them, but no problems sending and receiving messages. Its probably just a server error.

Why do people fall for chainmail bullish*t? I still get tagged in pictures on Facebook saying to share this picture to continue to be able to use Facebook for free. Go look on FB page before logging in. "It's free and always will be" right on the homepage lol.
Or my PS3 inbox FULL of spam messages saying the exact same thing.
For future reference, anything that EVER says to share this with X amount of people in order to do this or get that is false. Nothing but spam.

For the same reason millions of books and websites and blogs and posts are written that are full of nonsense.
Hint: correlation does not imply causation.
Ok I feel really dumb already. I'm having a problem with group text. Even if I create one they still don't come back to my phone correctly when they respond. It's like I'm getting double messages. Is there a way to change this or should I just try a 3rd party app. Feel like suck a newbie and this isn't my first rodeo.

For whatever reason, you have to turn them on. Go into your inbox > settings > MMS settings and then go all the way to the bottom. Check the box, make sure it says your phone number, and hit ok. You should be good to go.
Ok so I'm getting way too many emails so shut off the settings ( I thought) were the correct ones for the emails I was getting.
Anyway long story short I've shut all notification email off and email from admin and users, I'm not getting as many but am still getting at least 20 a day
Is there any other place I need to check besides the user cp that has email settings ?
Cheers
