hello all..just bored and tried to make a 3d model of a windows 'xbox" phone..i call it "WindowsPhone-X"....android has google, iphone has itune, and windowsphone has XBOX!!!..you guys know what i mean.
jan 04 2012 update - some more designs
Sorry but that reminds me of a iphone4s with the wp7 logo on it.
I like it, sans the colorful windows logo maybe all red or gray
Sent from my HTC Glacier using xda premium
Kinda looks like the Lumia 900, or what we think its going to look like
its funky, i dont like the back Windows logo tho
conside having a colour coded brushed metal on teh back with that windows logo slightly raised to give it texture, also, if its aimed at xbox markets then consider replacing the windows logo with the xbox one....again, same colour as back only raised.
Its needs to be subtle, but subtle is good, the less something jumps out at you and yet still catches your eye, the better, in my opinion, it looks

I also wanted that brushed metal look, but my rendering skills is just limited at this time..im currently making more and applying that color..thanks for the suggestion! Give me more ideas and ill model it in 3d...thanks!
Reminded me of the iPhone 4s too, just much more beautiful.
Black and red combination looks good, wish there was a Lumia with that that color scheme.

These threads are great - nice to see people's creativity, and it would be even better if handset manufacturers were taking notes
It looks really good. Black and red is a great combination, and the buttons would be welcome for gaming.
I would love it if they could make a phone like this with translucent panels with perhaps leds so that when you change theme the outer chassis (subtly) changes colour too in the appropriate parts. E.g. so everywhere you have red could change to blue (or whatever accent colour you have selected).
Great job, keep up ... Greetings from Germany
hope things get realistic

You don't need to own an iphone to know that resembles one. Maybe I am off but it looks like you altered an iphone. The side and even the separation...

less bezel, more screen edge to edge... and when it comes to corporate logos, less is more: try a one-hue difference or frosted logo instead of the huge flag ?
nice renders !

Had a chance to stop into the local Verizon store and view the latest gadget candy. I played with the LG Revolution, the Droid X2, the Pre 2 and the Trophy. I glanced at a lot of the other stuff as well and came out feeling the the Trophy is the nicest phone Verizon has to offer. It's very elegant and stylish and worked splendidly. HTC really knows how to make phones, that's all there is to it.
Install mango on it...it will impress you
The wife just got the trophy and it is a really nice phone. I prefer larger screens though.
Sent from my HD7 running Mango using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
I love wp7 but I think HTC phones will never be able to do it justice.
yea its a nice phone but they need to bring out a more feature filled phone with a front camera but until wp7 rolls out the mango update the trophy is one of the best wp7 phones
I'm using the Trophy myself. It's nice, but the camera isn't so great and the auto-brightness doesn't work very well. When taking a picture, it snaps the picture a split second after pressing the button. This is a pain in the ass when trying to take pictures of my kid who can't stand still, or anything moving.
I'm not impressed with HTC's lineup at all... I never was. Their battery covers are almost always slightly crooked (like the top edge where you open it might stick up, allowing larger pieces of lint, sand, or other particles to get lodged in there), their cameras aren't as good as Samsung's, and their auto-brightness sensors have usually been wonky (at least the ones I've used).
But, they're the only manufacturer with a WP7 device on Verizon so I had to get it. Don't get me wrong, I don't think it's a piece of crap or anything, but I definitely don't think it's the "best" Verizon has to offer. But that's my opinion.

Are you aware the camera button on all WP7 phones is dual level or dual mode? Half press focuses and full press snaps the picture.
Of course. But there is still a delay. It's not instantaneous.
Edit: I had a Samsung Focus several months ago before switching carriers. I don't remember the camera on that phone having the delay. That's why it's relevant to this post.

Don't care what HTC phone you have, the cameras have never been great, yea, you could get pretty good but, never great.
HTC has never been known for to be a camera company, some of the upcomming phones SHOULD be starting to use Carl Zeiss lenses and things should be getting bettter in this department. Look up any HTC phone, this is a major compaint for it with most people.
If you got a HTC phone for it's camera, you will be dispointed.
Over all the Tropy is a nice phone, slim, fast and feature filled. No major bells and whistles here but, a good over all phone.
And the only WP7 device that Verizon wireless in the US has....

Yeah that's pretty much what I'm saying.
And I didn't want to wait for another WP7 device on Verizon. I like the soft, matte finish on it, but that's it. I wish the Trophy had the same style front glass as the HD7 (how it sort of sits on top of the plastic) but without the size. I think the size of the Trophy is perfect. If that new Nokia phone (the Sea Ray?) comes out as a CDMA device, I'm totally buying it. I don't care if I have to pay full retail, I'll save up for it. It's so nice.

It's a shame they can't...or won't...produce a phone like the ones in the early mock-ups that have been floating around for a long while. Those are just purely gorgeous.

N9/Sea Ray is coming out and it has a 12mp Carl Zeiss. That's what we mentioned earlier. I have no interest in another OS right now. I'm all about Windows Phone 7.
N9 has Meego, "Sea Ray" is the code name for the hardware. They're releasing it with WP7 but it's only GSM.

Unfortunately, they've already compared the camera on the N9 to the N8 and it's no where near as good. I hope they use the same optics as the N8 for the sea ray.
I have been very happy with the trophy except for a few things.
I'm coming from what was basically an indestructable phone and that is the original moto droid. I never had screen protection or a case and there were no scratches. Gorrila glass is a must have. The 2nd day I had the trophy I ended up with a scratch on the screen.
Battery life. This is fixable with the 1800 mah battery you can find, but why ship the phone with such a weak battery.
storage space. This is an issue with most of the wp7 offerings. Yes it can be fixed but it's not meant to be fixed. I have a 32gb zune and guess what, I want all of that music plus apps on my phone.
3.8 is a decent size, although I really want a 4.3 inch.
Mango is a great upgrade even in beta, I've been keeping a list of things I hope they include or at least improve upon.

The N9, N8 both look great, but I prefer the aesthetics of a phone like these mock-ups. They resemble the Samsung Focus a little bit in size and style and I love the styling of the Focus. However, I think I'd prefer these much more so.

Looks like we won't get the Black or Blue (even though Blue was never confirmed) models. That's slightly annoying.
Yep not about to spend 500+ on a phone with a color I am not crazy about. Think it's terrible how Verizon has treated the Htc One thus far. From polls I have see looks like a 50/50 split of people who prefer silver or black. And sure enough Verizon finds a way to piss off half that group who have already waited months to get this phone.
I really wanted the blue. In the end though... It's still a One.
I don't like black phones so this is perfect for me.
In person the Silver model is cheap and ugly looking compared to what I had seen on youtube, but the Black model is extremely sleek and classy (this is my own opinion, don't get your panties in a bunch if you don't agree). If they don't roll out a black version within a month I'm just going to get the S4 again I think. I know that color seems a silly reason not to get a phone but I'm the sort of person who holds on to electronics for a very long time so this will bug me endlessly.

The black is not classy. It looks like a stealth bomber. You can't call a stealth bomber classy. The Black One is not sleek. It is hardcore, serious, and deadly. /joke
The S4 is not bad. It tried a friends today. No lag whatsoever. It was hard to reach the corners of the screen, but that's just me. Thing is, it felt extremely light. Not sure if that's good or bad.

I actually had the S4 for a week and returned it (before any development happened) and it was a great phone minus the Touchwiz stuff and lag (it DID lag at the time but that was before Samsung pushed updates out). If I got it again I would pretty much be running either stock 4.3 or Cyanogenmod. The things that attracted me to the One were build, speakers, LCD screen quality, and Sense 5 being a smooth minimalist skin compared to bloated Touchwiz. S4 in my opinion is better for screen size (wider vs skinny), repair-ability, expansion, camera, button placement, and development support (more popular=more development). First world problems eh?
Oh and yeah it was really lightweight. I liked that because I put my phones in cases so it makes it seem less bulky than perhaps a heavier phone would. Strangely it was lighter than my 2 year old Fascinate that's half its size... not sure what black magic they did to make that happen.

This whole thread is a big FWP. I don't want to buy this phone because, while it's better in almost(actually less than almost, both have pros and cons) every regard, it isn't in the color I like.
But, you're paying First world prices, so it's justifiable. I think the silver (which should really be called clear or natural) looks good in a sort of minimalist type of way.
Silver is the color of the bare metal. The black is just color on top, but the silver shows the true color of the phone.

Yeah I agree with you on that, I like the silver color of the metal but I think what ruins it for me most is the white plastic trim. I think it would have looked a lot better with a darker grey or even black plastic trim instead of white which will get dirty really easily and in the future turn a disgusting yellowish tint. For some reason in person it really looks cheap with the way it all came together, where as the black one actually looked premium. Of course, like you said it is just color so the major drawback is if you manage to dent or scratch it it'll look a lot more beat up than the silver one. I'm the sort of person to use cases so odds are mine will stay really nice... in fact I've had 2 Seidio cases since August 1st because I had false hope that they would have released it that day! :crying:

only issue I have with black is the same one I had with my iPhone 5 before I sold it - the black scratches right off to reveal the same 'cheap' silver underneath, and pretty easily. Put it on a table and slide it across, and it'll come off if the table has any texture at all...
I think the color is very important and not just because of a preference.
When watching videos you want the picture to blend in with the background. The silver sticks out like a sore thumb.
How many of you here would want an led tv with a silver frame as opposed to one in standard black?
i understand wanting that choice. to me, ive been waiting long enough, and i dont mind that visibility. honestly, i liked my white ipad more than my black iphone when i had them. also my led tv is silver - but its the thin bezel cinema screen

I've got to disagree. I've had several white phones and I never thought 'man I wish my phone was black so the video blended in.'
I'm looking at the video on the screen, not the phone. A black phone doesn't make the video any larger.
Hope the blue still comes out.
I want an announcement. What I don't want to have to wait another month and find out that they will never have black in their stores. Could be that they don't want to make one right now because they want it to sell in it's inferior color. I don't think so, and not even for profit.
Just ordered mine this afternoon. Been sitting on an upgrade since April. Was considering the Moto X but I'm sick of plastic phones and I think the screen is going to be much better on the One - true 1080p. Coming from the Dinc 4G its gonna be a little bigger but worth it for the screen. See you all in the Dev site.

Hello everyone!
I've got the chance to sell my Nexus 4 and - to be honest - I'm not really sure I want to give it away. For sure its technology is not state-of-the-art, but it's still fighting its own way very well, except for some slowliness in some cases (running 5.0.2).
I was oriented towards Meizu MX4, but I'm very SCARED about the MediaTek SoC. Not for the CPU itself, but about its lack of moddability (besides the not 100% translated OS, it's a custom one and I'd like to choose whichever OS, including AOSP, in case).
Then I saw the LG G3 16 GB with a similar price (around 350€) and I saw it should be a very powerful yet not too much expensive choice.
Also, I'm a Nexus addicted since before it was called Nexus (HTC Magic) and never bought something outside that product line. I'm scared about updates, too.
May you please, PLEASE, convince me to buy this piece of hardware and software, or not? I don't want to spend too much for such devices, though I'd like it to last for at least a couple of years (just like my Nexus 4 (which is LG, too) resulted).
Thank you VERY MUCH!
I actually had the same phone, the Nexus 4, and I loved it. Super good looking on the front with the curved edges and awesome back panel with those reflective, crystal-like dots (almost looked like space!).
And yes the updates. Oh the updates. Perfect.
The only thing going bad was the battery - being irreplaceable and all, I couldn't last more than 6/8 of a day before I had to charge it again. That sucked. I basically had to get a new device which will last me for as long as the Nexus did. And here it is, the LG G3.
Seeing as the Nexus 4 was an LG device from the start, my line of thought was that they improved themselves over time. They did. 2K screen, 3000mAh battery, great camera (certainly an improvement over the N4, especially on the software) and a pretty design overall. Not as pretty as that galaxy-like back panel but hey, I gladly traded that over a replaceable battery - so when this one starts going bad, I can just get a new one.
I had the N4 for almost 2 years and I greatly enjoyed it, and I think you do too. I recommend upgrading to the G3, there's very little chance that you will regret it.
PS - try to get the 32/3gb model, it is certainly much more future-proof.
Benchmark if you are into that kind of things - h ttp :// im gur.co m/fnOl PBj
(just remove the spaces)
I too came from a nexus 4 which I still own but getting the G3 has made me realize how much of a good phone the G3 is I've only owned it 2 days it's rooted already gotta get a custom recovery now

Dumb question: if I buy the phone of color X and I change the cover, does the volume rocker and the camera color change, too, or that part remain the same color of the base? From the photos I see, the "black" cover is not really black, but somewhat greyish. While I don't dislike the white version, I'd like to put dark covers, too.
Thanks

They remain the same color browse a quickcircle case review, where they physically remove the back cover and you'll see that the buttons on the back are integrated into the phone.
As for the "greyish" color, it's actually metallic brown and looks very pretty. White looks stylish too so it comes down to your choice really.
Well, actually a dark cover with sparkling white parts is not in my tastes, while a light cover with some dark definition is not that bad... IMHO. Imagine the base body in white with this kind of cover: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51OzrTYR+JL._SY300_.jpg

The 5.2 size fits perfect in the pocket as well as the hand, I do not have to worry about this phone in comparison to my 5.5 device from sliding out of my pocket when sitting down. Best looking phone I think, I have both Blue Coral and Black...I need to decide one way or the other.
I had fun filming it and wanted to share it with everyone. Its the most beautiful thing to date. I had a Note 5 and did not hesitate jumping onto this band wagon.
Does anyone found a video where black onyx is compared to the blue one... Pre-ordered the black one but rly wanted the blue one only if it's not baby blue... a lot of video on Youtube have a very good lightning that makes that phone rich blue but rly it looks more like a baby light blue?
Most aesthetically pleasing phone I've ever laid eyes upon. Hands down.

NO. Actually, I REALLY wanted the Black Onyx version of the phone, because I simply prefer dark colors and thought the Blue Coral looked "girly" and "baby blue."
Black wasn't available, so I ordered the blue with the intention of exchanging it and paying a restocking fee later. And let me tell you dude. This Blue Coral Note 7... is.... f***ing astounding!
I don't know why pictures and videos all over the internet make it look so... light blue. But dude, it's waaaaay darker and nicer looking in person. It actually looks like a navy blue candy color. It's beautiful man! Trust me, check it out in person if you can, I decided to keep the blue once I actually took a look at it. In my opinion, it looks much better than the Black Onyx.
It's so nice man. I seriously don't know why it's so light blue looking in pictures, but until you actually SEE it in person, you wont be able to fully appreciate what I'm talking about. It's a shiny, dark, chrome/candy blue, with side panels that look silver in certain lighting, and red amber gold in other lighting. I haven't received my case yet but I have a feeling it's going to blend really well with both black and silver/gray-ish cases.

Thx for the feedback but I don't have any chance to look at the blue until Sept 16. Did a lot of research about the blue and at this moment I have a mix feeling about it. About the black not so much. So I will stick with it ?
Absolutely gorgeous. I wasn't so sure based on the renders, but seeing it in person is an experience. Even my iPhone fanboy friends have said, unprompted, that it looks and feels better than the 6S or 6S+.
This is what phones should look like.
Wasn't a huge fan of the Coral in person (went Onyx), but that's just a small quibble, because it's without a doubt the most beautiful consumer gadget I've ever seen. It feels just as good in the hand. This is Samsung's high water point, they should be proud of the design. It's almost no surprise that something like this would be somewhat fragile. Don't think I could bear to put it in much of a case.
I have to say I love the way the back and recents buttons are hidden. You only see them when they light up. I think it's one of those little attention to detail that makes this device so premium.

It's so damn sexy in Black Onyx! Every time I look at it, I cry tears of joy and get put back on another emotional rollercoaster! Loving the dark theme I downloaded off the theme store along with my dark themed keyboard and Nova Launcher.

Hi. Just out of curiosity (as I'm getting my black onyx in the next few days; which themes was it you got for each?
I'm always looking for good dark themes.
