Must be new to this community eh?but its ok..^^
Here's a question for u..u want to upgrade officially or custom?if officially..u need to wait until this end of March/early April for the official ICS update..
And for custom upgrade..u can take a look at this section-->> Xperia Arc/Arc S Android Development

I'd advise you to wait till Sony releases it all the ics roms are incomplete with missing let features. WiFi on some, camera, data on some, and more.
Probably won't see a complete romtill Sony releases ics on their phones.
I know how you feel, I can't wait for ics on my arc

You could use DooMLoRD's ICS alpha, don't see any bug there and you have on screen buttons.

we should file a petition maybe like samsung did for galaxy s they later agreed to give ics to it. sony has to give us jb too atleast for xperia arc s

I think there is still no ICS for the first Galaxy S... Petition is pointless

galaxy s had no better hardware.
We have that much.
the xperia j is a low end phone than arc s but it is getting jelly bean

They're not testing on the arc! That was a hoax - someone used a custom ROM (based on 431 f/w which kind of gave it away) with the Android version hard-coded to 4.2. They visited a few Android sites and waited for people to spot it.

I hope they will fix ICS to be smooth like GB i don't care about 4.1 JB.JB is nearly like ICS just some more addons,so...
I just hope they fix ICS 'cause i'm not happy with it,it's laggy,camera lags,it's not that stable.So at least give us a proper ICS if not JB.

I was planning to buy Xperia T but when I see their approach to the customers, probably I'll move to another brand. I think that all 2012 Xperia phones get update to 4.1 sometime in 2013 and it will be the last update for them - same as now for 2011 Xperia phones which got only one important update - GB -> ICS.

Yeah.
When i bought my first phone it was ericsson,then sony ericsson and i loved those phones,but sony ericsson sucks at updating firmwares.I'm thinking my next phone will be other brand no more sony if they continue giving us updates like ICS.But is still hope and think they will give us one more update,wich will fix most of bugs.Still hoping.

This sucks! ICS is a real battery drainer and more laggy than GB.. only reason I don't use GB is because the sound lags when running through Bluetooth speakers.

Sony really p*****g me off. Gs2 and note are expected to get jelly bean in January. Where Xperia t will get in February, Xperia s in march. By the time android 5.0 may be out.
Gs3 already got jb. What's wrong with Sony? If they don't give us jb quickly, then they shouldn't void warranty for custom rom till they release jb. I really regret buying Xperia s now. And I also don't get that how on the earth Xperia u doesn't get jb where Xperia j does? **** u Sony! U betrayed with the customers!

Actually GS2 and Note has Stock JB test build or Leak version since last month and it run flawlessly! Every GS2 n note user use them daily.

This is Sony, after Xperia X10 experience I shouldn't have gone with Xperia S, now same frustrating support...they always get people with their beautiful hardware....

sony is very slow to update xperia phone s to android 4.1

True, that's why I got SXS insted of Samsung mobile

ok, i understand that making such a big update takes time.
even if it takes Sony about 2-3 months more than the competition to finish the update, it's not such a big deal for me.
my phone works great on ICS and yes, i'm looking forward to JB but i'm patient.
but if they f**k up the update (like ICS) and they don't fix the dialer lag and auto brightness issues i'm buying a Nexus.
The only thing that REALLY pisses me off it's the update schedule!!
When we bought our SXS's (the majority of us i guess), this was the flagship device! The most advanced and the most expensive Sony you could buy. And now we are the last one getting the update? Are they F****N serious?
I understand that the "T" is getting it first as this may boost it's sells, but why in hell are the mid range devices also getting JB before SXS?
Sony F****D me with my Arc and now the history is repeating... I just wish they don't screw up the update otherwise i'm leaving Sony for good.

I think SXS will be my last Sony mobile... To be honnest, in the paper SXS is good but if you look it when you have it, it's worse than we do hope.

You're right. The only thing that keeps me from leaving it's the UI.
I owned a HTC One S c2 which has roughly the same hardware specs as the SXS and it runs smoother even though it's running the Sense UI.
And the battery.. Mine SXS eats cca 1% per hour when idle (overnight) and 2% per hour on easy usage while the "One S c2" drained only about 1% to 2% overnight (cca 8 hours). So the SXS has some serious performance and battery drain issues! But i love minimalistic UI.

I got Xperia s without knowing that Xperia t was already rumored!! .should have waited for Xperia or v!

Xperia s was a fail. Xperia ion is much better, at least it doesn't have that useless illumination bar. Unfortunately it is unavailable in UK

While I can to some extend understand your frustration, Sony will release JB when it does and there's little any of us can do about it, so this thread serves no substantial purpose. Thus it will be closed!

i am currently an owner of one samsung galaxy s plus i9001 and i was thinking about switching it for an xperia arc . so i have a question for the owners of the device: if it is worth it ?
my device is having 3.4 kernel under development , a fully working cm10 and a semi functional cm 10.1 .

Galaxy S and Arc S are almost similar in terms of performance. The only difference is that there is no official ICS for Galaxy S as Samsung did not include Galaxy S in the ICS Upgrade.

The only difference between Arc and Arc S is just the processor. Otherwise both phones are almost the same.

Why do you want to move from one single-core, 512-MB RAM-equipped phone, to another single-core, 512-MB RAM-equipped phone? If you really want to make a move from your Galaxy S Plus, get a phone with better hardware specs.
