Hello,
On about 3 or 4 occasions I've gone to unlock my phone with my face and its failed so I've gone to pattern unlock as fail safe only to notice that the screen is unresponsive. No matter what I try it just doesn't respond. A reboot fixes this.
Has anyone else noticed this? Its not like the other touchscreen issues where it seems multi touch related, it does nothing.
Once time I managed to unlock it with my face realising the issue and I found the touchscreen still didn't work even when unlocked.

yes.. happened to me couple of times, but after i upgraded tp 4.0.2 from official google's image there are no problems..
it happened to me after i speak on my phone for a long time anf switch off the screen and switch it back up again.
but no problem now
Glad to hear its not just me then. It does seem a software bug.

It did it again today. At least I know its not Beautiful Widgets as I uninstalled that thinking it was that.

Anyone uses JuiceDefender ?
Cheers~
I have had same issue, I'm on 4.0.3 aosp. I have noticed, if I leave phone for a little while without use, touch screen does come back, most of the time
Running juice defender as well, might try removing and see

I removed Juice Defender but I still had the issue. It just did it again while charging. Are you all using face unlock?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
No. Never used face unlock. Do use light flow, others?
Rellikzephyr
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
No , I`m not using face unlock. Instead , I do have installed Light Flow !
Cheers~
Unfortunately I don't have light flow installed.

Glad it isn't only me then!
I posted in another thread suspecting it was Juice Defender but after uninstalling it i got the error one more time. I still haven't done a factory reset to check if it's still there, though.
How do you guys reboot when the screen becomes unresponsive? Do you just hold the power button in until it turns off/reboots? It seems like it's worked for me but only maybe 3/5 times.
I just pull the battery out.

I can confirm this problem.
I'm on 4.0.2 stock Google build, no juicedefender.
Only happens on lock pattern.

If you set face unlock, you can unlock and find it still doesn't respond.

I'm running stock 4.0.2 and I have this problem a fair bit. I use a numeric password unlock, and whenever it freezes I just wait a few minutes and the screen becomes responsive again. Very annoying though. I hope this issue is resolved soon.
I've not had any issues for a while. The odd random reboot but no screen freezes anymore.

occurred on 4.0.4
occurred on GSM version running 4.0.4. received an call and could not attend, I don't use any lock pattern. last thing I did before this occurred was to install call filter, not sure if that caused the issue.
I had this problem on my vzw nexus. It just started happening more and more to the point that I had to hard reset to get it to work. The problem never went away so I got it replaced. Then had the replacement replaced due to unrelated screen color issues.

I just had another crash replying to a post here using tapatalk. The keyboard had small pink corruptions as if video memory had an issue.
I pulled the battery for about 10 seconds, tried to turn it back on. No dice. I tried again except pulled the sim as well, that worked.
Maybe some of us having crashes are sim related?

I've had to do a second battery pull today. Phone locks up then about 5 seconds later the display goes dark. Not fun.

I froze twice in the past three days. I was using hand cent and browsing. The battery had to be pulled in order for restart.

Yesterday I noticed GetJar was keeping the device awake (in battery stats), but otherwise it was responsive and all good. I uninstalled GetJar and rebooted for good measure. It powered down fine, but wouldn't power back up. I had to pull the battery.
My first 'battery pull' so far!
I had my first crash today while I was replying to an SMS message. The screen produced these broken specs of green.
I couldn't exit from the SMS, eventually the screen turned itself off and then nothing.
I had to perform a battery pull to fix.
When the phone booted back up ICS complained that the launcher had crashed.
Instead of clicking 'stop' I clicked 'wait'.
Phone returned to normal after that.

Did you guys restore old apps/app data from your previous Android device? If so, factory reset and START FRESH.
I can't count the people I know that had issues all stubbornly because they refused to start fresh from a new device.

I didn't use a restore. I just added my Google account and let the phone download my apps that I more or less had from my Nexus One.
Is that OK to do?
Or should I have done something else??
Let me know, Thanks.

This is how it works. When you login all the apps install automatically.
I just noticed this morning that a bunch of apps I had uninstalled already on my GN automatically reinstalled. Odd right?

If you have "force 2d rendering" checked in the developer settings, that will cause many issues.

I don't have this checked.

I don't have any dev options on. I'm basically seeing what others are. Lockup, sometimes with screen corruption, then the display eventually goes black some short amount of time afterward. Battery pull required. I thought it may be heat related at one time but it has happened when the device was relatively cool. Seems like a software driver issue that can hopefully be addressed.

So first off the app search function sucks...
Has anyone had a problem where the screen suddenly becomes unresponsive to touch? I can turn the screen on and off just fine with the power button but can't actually unlock it since it doesn't recognize my finger touching the screen. Only way to fix it was to do a battery pull.
I'm also on Eagles Blood with the latest Franco kernel.
I've never experienced this problem. I've run Codename Android, Redemption Rom, and currently on AOKP. I've used Leankernel, Defiant kernel and am currently using Faux123's kernel. As far as the app search function I can't concur because I've never used it.

To answer your question: No.
Was the phone plugged in when it was unresponsive?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
i have the same experience, once in a while,
if you have patience, if you wait like 5-10 mins later, it will be responsive again.
I had the unresponsive screen when I turned the screen on to unlock but I couldn't draw my unlock pattern. Closed and opened the screen using power button twice and it was working again. I've also noticed that sometimes the screen doesn't register touches soon after turning it on. Have to always redraw my pattern because first bit is missed off.

Same here. Very annoying. Is there a fix yet?
I had this problem once since having the phone in November. I did do a battery pull but its good to know you can wait 5-10 minutes.
Also stock phone 4.0.2 ota so its happening on unrooted phones as well.

There is said to be a multi touch issue with the galaxy Nexus, I have experienced it myself. There is not a fix that I know of for the issue yet.

Hello,
I have an issue with my Galaxy Nexus, After i upgraded to 4.0.4 it happens that when in standby mode, the screen turn on for 3 seconds and then turn off by itself many times.
The phone is rooted, and not few applications on it, same when i had 4.0.2
Does anyone know what is causing this?
Thank you,
Is it saying its charging when it does it?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Nope it doesn't say charging.
Hmm. Wondered if it was the charging port problem... I had it n done some Googling to find its quite common, fixed it myself. I'd check what's causing wake locks.... alternatively a factory reset should help..

Had this issue on my xoom and nexus. Uninstalled a few apps I had on both to try and narrow it down and haven't had the issue sense. My rouge app was a tablet wallpaper app.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
Some apps use the FULL_WAKELOCK to do certain tasks, and that turns the screen on. Check some apps that might do that, the permission for that is "Prevent device from sleeping"
Thanks guys

I have a heck of a time getting the device to turn on using the power button. It's as if the button is recessed a bit...it's hard to press in an awkward place.
Also, I've left the device a few times for long stretches to find that I need to boot it up to turn it on. It powered completely down on its own.
I love it, though; definitely not disappointed.

I don't experience reboots waking up the device but i've had the tablet reboot on me once today while watching a netflix video. It also rebooted three times yesterday while chromecasting.
I've been getting random reboots but no problems waking the device.

This happened to me today, not sure if it's a symptom of a defective device or just a software bug
Picked mine up this morning. I've seen 3 random reboots with it in my hand today. It had also turned itself off once while in my bag and required a long press to boot back up. For now I'm chalking it up to 4.3 still being in its infancy.
Luckily it reboots really fast!
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk HD
Yeah mine reboots here and there on it own. Also I don't like the way that if you're playing a game sometimes and have to listen or read a but of dialogue. The screen auto shutoff will still turn off.......

I had mine next to my bed last night and for some reason when I looked over at the Nexus 7, the screen was "on" but nothing was being displayed. It would not respond to anything. I held down the power button and went to bed.
Now it won't boot at all past the Nexus logo screen! I haven't tried rooting it or anything (I do have BusyBox and SuperSU installed from my previous Nexus 7, but without the bootloader being unlocked or root it shouldn't do anything, right?).
Been waiting for 20 minutes and it's stuck at the Nexus logo screen...
I have a similar issue where upon waking the device in the morning it will reboot. The odd thing it usually doesn't do it right away, but up to a minute afterwards.
Very odd.
No random rebots <knock on wood> but I do find it difficult to find and press the power button without sometimes turning the device to see what I am doing.
Okay so my nexus us acting super weird when I charge it. Its slowly becoming unusable when its charging.
Like everything just goes haywire, if I touch something it registers it somewhere else on the screen. Like I just held down the lockscreen ring and it randomly open up the lock screen clock widget closed it, tried to press it so it prompted me to open the device. All just when I was holding on to the lock screen ring. It wasn't as bad in the morning but it got worse as time went by.
Only when I was charging.
Soo... Has any of you experienced this funky problem? If so any of ya got a fix for me?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
So....what have you tried?
I experienced this not with the Gnex, but with other Android devices when using certain chargers it doesn't like. Try rebooting then using a different charger. What charger you using BTW? :what:
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 4
I actually forgot my charger at my friends house so maybe that's the problem. I'll try using another charger. Thanks.
And I already tried changing ROMs to no avail.
