Galaxy Nexus Roms Database - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hi guys,
I just created a site ( http://galaxynexus.roms-db.com ) that lists all the current Galaxy Nexus roms. The site tries to give a bird's eye view of the latest updates of each rom along with links to their threads.
The rom information is automatically refreshed from the "Galaxy Nexus Android Development" thread every 15 minutes.
Let me know how to make it better!!

Thanks. This can be a great resource but I am not sure about its accuracy. For example ARHD is ICS 4.0.2 ROM and not 4.0.1 as reported on the ROM database.
Good work

Is it possible to do this auto-refresh list from the CDMA Galaxy Nexus Developer forums at XDA and Rootzwiki also?
Terminators run on Android...

Nice work, thank's

Nice work.
However, I believe you list the date of the last comment, which is not the same with the date when the ROM was last updated. I realize you can't automate that, though.

Thanks guys, I'm trying to keep it up-to-date, I have something similar for the hd2, htc sensation, galaxy s2 and evo4g roms and is going quite well.
Pedmond:
The "Updated" field is automatically updated every time the thread title changes (except when I'm adding new roms which is the date I added them in the list)
skynet11:
I will add CDMA roms in the current list, and have a different type for them

Would be good to be able to sort roms by features and have the option hide cdma/gsm

Yes, this would be lovely!

You can easily filter gsm/cdma roms using the quick filter input field

I just updated http://www.roms-db.com with the latest Galaxy Nexus roms guys, have a look and let me know if I'm missing an important one

If you do that at least some GSM roms (like CM9 kang) will be filtered out too.
So not entirely reliable.

Again just a note about updating www.roms-db.com with the latest galaxy nexus roms. I'm almost sure that I've missed some as I did it in a hurry. let me know if something doesn't look ok.
Also I have an issue with 'CyanogenMod 9 Kang' and 'Bugless Beast (Nightlies)' roms as the XDA threads of these roms never change titles. www.roms-db.com is based on thread title changes to mark roms as 'updated'. Let me know if you have any ideas to overcome this problem

Nice

great thanks
i will be better if you add gsm/cdma filter button for faster search instead of writing down the words.
keep it up

That is awesome! Please keep it updated.

thanks guys, anyone else thinks that a CDMA/GSM filter button is useful ?

great site! the listing of the roms is clever! maybe think about adding kernels in the future?

Just letting you know I've updated www.roms-db.com with the latest Galaxy Nexus roms, please let me know if you find anything that needs to be corrected

What, no loves for the roms over at rootzwiki? Axi0m Crossbreed, Sorcery, Redemption, LiquidSmooth?

Anything like ViperRom for the Galaxy Nexus?

There is a ROM for most popular HTC phones called "ViperRom". It is probably the most insane ROM I've ever seen, simply because of the sheer amount of tweaks.
The greatest feature I have seen on it is live, on the go framework tweaking. Load some .pngs into your phone, and use the built in editor to select them and use them as images in your status bar, such as the battery, signal, wifi, or ring mode images. There is no installable theme or .mtz file needed to theme the images; just select them from the tweaks menu.
Is there any ROM that has this ability or can be built to add this ability for the GSM Galaxy Nexus? Because that would be awesome.
nope. just a whole bunch of aosp ROMs that are almost exactly alike

Paranoid Android
Miui
That is it.

I think JBSourcery has some unique stuff also no? I haven't tried it though.
Ya jbsourcery will let you do a lot of theming on the phone. I'd check it out if I were you

Yeah i kind of noticed that myself. Seems like we need some new different types of ROMs around here. The sense and Firefox ROMs are good examples of what this phone needs more of.

Recently I've been thinking of starting a ROM but it seems that life is not letting me I would like to create something different from the rest.
I'm pretty jealous if that's what viperrom shouldve been like! Coming from an evo3d it was just another stock ROM with no bells and whistles

I can't believe the amount of people in here crying about the AOSP roms.
You bought a galaxy NEXUS. Not "sense-box-2230349039" or "blur-spaz-X08" or whatever the hell else you're looking for.
If you got a NEXUS device hoping that you'd be surprised by sense/b2g/windows/Android2.2/MacOS/whatever-else to be available...and working without show-stopping bugs...You have no idea what a NEXUS device is.
Nexus:
Get's updates straight from google (+yakju +takju -toro -toroplus...there's often a middle man) or in simpleton terms...
ANY DEVELOPERS WHO BOUGHT A NEXUS ARE FANS OF ANDROID AND WANT TO BUILD ANDROID. NOT SOME AFTERTHOUGHT SKIN WITH CLOSED/SEMI-CLOSED/"SOON-TO-BE-AVAILABLE" SOURCE.
If you came in to the game just to cry about the lackluster roms you shouldn't own the phone.

You will likely never get a Sense ROM on the Nexus and if you do it will be a port from another device. If you enjoy sense, you should stick with HTC devices. I came from a Sensation that had 1.9 million sense ROMS with few AOSP offerings.
The Nexus is the exact opposite. It's going to give you a 'vanilla' Android experience without the skins that you'll see from other manufacturers.
For me, I love the stability of the 'stock' builds and I can get enough customization through APEX launcher and some creativity.
Here is a great example of how much you can customize this device (and mind you, Black Bear is doing all of this without root): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1804627

I guess I just had the wrong idea about the nexus. I kind of thought it was the phone that would have the most development, be it ROMs being ported, built, or whatever. Currently my prepaid Virgin Mobile Optimus V has a wider selection of "different" ROMs than the Nexus does. I guess I was wrong. I was by no means trying to start a fight, however, so I sincerely apologize if anything I said offended you in any way.

Yeah I have seen the forums for sense phones. It's like the Nexus forums, but replace the "AOSP" label before all the ROMs with "Sense". Like I said above, I kind of just thought the nexus was the phone that had the widest variety of development. I'd love to be able to try out sense or touchwiz or motoblur on my phone, even if I am a fan of stock android. I guess this us not the phone for that.

[PROJECT]Collaborative Sense Port

Hi
I've created this thread here in general to try an effort to a collaborative port of (any) sense rom to galaxy nexus, lets to the point:
I was trying a different rom instead of the stock. Why? Because a custom rom with sense provide lots of things that stock doesn't have (init.d for example). In my case, I was using Insert Coin for One X, because in the past I had some success with other devices.. well. I didn't had the same success with galaxy nexus.
Of course any rom can be used, we need success in this port disregard the rom used.
Obs.: For people unable to help and able to troll, this isn't a thread for trolling/blaming/"giving the unrequired opinion about it" or "why not buying a HTC phone instead", please, you can create your own thread for that or just use your facebook.
Thanks
I think there was already a thread about a wip port of sense and touchwiz that booted but some major stuff wasn't working.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
I have one question about porting sense, what ROM is the best to use as base, cm10 or aosp?
I did some porting on my Droid 3 so I want to try on gnex also.
Thanks

Yeah but as I can see, they're focus in specific versions, and I don't care about versions since it works. And I want a specific focus in join efforts to port sense.

It's relative. AOSP will be more easily imo, but in other hand, cm10 can be adapted, since there's cm10 for tegra (so we can adapt the source code, if someone wants to give a try). I was trying with cm10 4.1.1 btw (cause the InsertCoin is 4.1.1).
My Octo-oraculus says that there are few other threads like this and NONE of them will end up with something actually usable.

Btw, I was thinking about trying backport the sense for Nexus S (since there's one port that was almost successful), the only problem is... the best port for NS is Gingerbread-based and I dont know how much effort will be needed to adapt a 4.x kernel with a 2.3 rom.

[REQ] Ported Roms from AT&T Note II section

Hi
I like testing new Roms to discover new UI, features,.... But for several weeks the development of new Roms is almost dead (many roms already exist, the new section of Galaxy S 4, Note 8.0...)
Of course I thank all developpers who worked and still work for the Note II section!!! :good:
I had a look at AT&T Note II section and it seems that several Roms don't exist for N7100 International. I'm not a developper but I already saw a few threads about porting roms and it seems that it does't require a lot of time... As a reminder I'm not a developper
Everybody has a lot of things to do but if some developers could port AT&T remaining roms to N7100 section it would be AWESOME!!!
I hope that my suggestion is the beginning of new threads
Thank you.
What's the point? We have plenty of awesome ROMs that they don't - and I don't think we're missing out on anything.
:good:

That's not my point of view. I'm very glad to see the good work of each developper.
If you compare with themes for CM10.1 based roms, even if 20 themes already exist I will also be happy to discover one more theme.

Themes are not the same though. If you have already ROMs which offer exact same functions and more, what's the point of other ROMs? It's fun to try out, but it's not necessary at all. As in not worth porting.

[Shiny ROM][Toroplus][Sprint] Looking for testers for Shiny ROM for toroplus

Hey XDA Gnex community! For those of you who don't know me, I'm the developer in charge of Shiny ROM for the GNex. Right now, we have a stable ROM out for the maguro and toro variants of the GNex, and we're looking to expand that support to the Sprint Galaxy Nexus (toroplus)! We have a build together right now, but we're looking for users to test it out before we publish it in the forum.
If any toroplus users out there are interested in testing out Shiny ROM, either reply to this thread or PM me please! Thanks in advance!

I might give it a go. i'm only cm11 m6 right now but i'm not a tweaker like i used to be and the simplicity of a more base rom is appealing.
All I have seen about this ROM are negative comments and angry people wanting a fix. Mainly data issues. However, I will give it a go.

I would love to help, but my mom is using my galaxy nexus while her s4 is being replaced. If you still need testers I could help when she gets her phone back.

A little help... Looking for a rom?

Hi, i don't follow these galaxy nexus forums so forgive the question to save me trolling through loads of threads..
I'm wondering if there's an aosp (like stock) 4.4.4 rom stable and bug free for the galaxy nexus. Maybe just has the options for toggles control and battery percentage but that's about it really.. Failing that i know i can use gravity box.
Thanks in advance
All of them. Just try one and if you dont like it try the next one. Im sorry but this is the only correct answer. Also, best ROM threads are not allowed here on xda

I would try Slimkat to start. It's minimalistic, yet still has the options you're looking for plus some new ones. Most importantly, data works and it's rock stable. I'm not saying it's the best, but that's what I'd recommend based on what you said. If you have the time to spend, I would try all roms. The devs put a lot of hard work into them, and honestly they're all awesome.
