[Q] Bootloader help!?! - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So its been about 2 weeks now and still no success on unlocking my bootloader!
i've tried every tutorial out there (Really!) with no success, seems like i'm the only one with a r800a xperia play. Let me start with my biggest problem and probably the reason why i haven't had any success yet,
No matter what i try i will always hang at "waiting for device" when trying to unlock bootloader. i've downloaded many different drivers, they all seem to pick up s1boot but still hangs.. ( now when i try to boot in fastboot mode, using "back button not search button, it will only last for seconds than splash the start up screen as if its going to charge )
not sure what i'm doing wrong here, i've tried search button, tried back button , home button ....... stilll no blue light, but i'm able to see "s1boot" so i figure its a start? Long story short, i'm just trying to experiment with other roms and i'm stuck at this stage, feeling pretty limited
ps: i've noticed others are having the same problem with getting the phone into fastboot mode, with the whole mixed up button thing.. please let me know if you've gotten past this?

Yea the reason your having problems is because your bootloader is locked plain and simple go into the dialer hit *#*#service#*#* and see if your bootloader can even be unlocked. It most likely can't and you'll have to pay to get it unlocked via testpoint method. I have an r800a too and it was locked down but not anymore. And next time man do a search before starting a new thread on something that has been talked about countless numbers of times! Have fun

[Q] phone wont connect to seus or pc companion

my verizon xperia is not recognized by either pc companion or seus. I am trying to do a hard reset due to the fact the lockscreen doesnt work. I have read that I can press and hold the back and search keys on front while powering on to factory reset the phone, however that does not seem to be the case. Can anyone give me some suggestions if the two button factory reset does work and that maybe I am just doing it wrong. And any suggestions as to how to get my phone to connect with seus so I can reset if teh 2 button trick is indeed not an option. Thank you to all in advance.
Doesnt anyone have an idea? I follow seus instructions. Power off wait 30 seconds, then plug in the usb cord to the pc, then press and hold the back button then inserting the usb cable into the phone... and then I wait for it to connect which it doesnt.
have you tried removing the battery wait a bit and put it back and then try again. I had something similar happen when I first got mine.
yes.... I waited beyond the 30 seconds it suggests. I eve waited about 2 hours once. Still nothing......I really want to get this device working.....it does power up. Everything seems like its supposed to work but it isn't. Thank you for helping me... I really really appreciate it.
hey, if youre comfortable, we can unlock the bootloader on it. if we do that, then you can just use fastboot and the files you can get off of my State of Development thread to return you back to stock. You could also root it. If that interests you, send me a pm with your ESN and Ill get you an unlock code.
Or do you still wanna try to figure out the **** fest that is SEUS?
I would love to unlock the bootloader. I have always had motorola android phones so even though i have never unlocked the bootloader I would love to.
Where would I find the ESN #? I am not able to get past the lock screen....so all I can do it make emergency calls
I have PM'd you my phones info. Thank you for your assistance
What is preventing you from passing the lock screen exactly? Programming?
the phone says that the pattern lock attempts has been exceeded... and the only way to unlock is to enter either a gmail info or answer the question. Neither of which I know.
Ahh! phew i thought it was more serious than that. Were you able to have the phone activated on your Verizon account okay? The esn wasnt blacklisted or anything?
And the funny thing is, even if you HAD got seus working, it would not have fixed that problem. SUES doesnt wipe the device as far as I know.
the *#06# in the emergency dialer doesnt show anything?
also the MEID is under the battery.
I have not activated the phone as I cant really use it in its current state. I did check with Verizon and the phone can be activated no problems.
I do have the MEID #, is it safe to list it here?
Also, the phone does not take the #* code, says its not an emergency number
K, i have successfully unlocked my bootloader on my phone..... I am trying to make sense of what to do next
YAY!!!!!. I unplugged and rebooted the phone after unlocking the bootloader and now my phone is back... I can sign into google now
you should use this command and reflash the stock system
fastboot flash system system.sin -w
this will erase usersettings and reinstall the stock rom.
make sure you have the rom downloaded.
edit- Never mind.

Thats great! totally forgot that actually unlocking the bootloader performs a factory reset. So awesome! Go get you some root!
now that I have it restored, the screens touch sensitivity is all over, it keeps thinking I am trying to load up voice commands. I would like to flash a rooted ROM, and from what I have read on kernals for the r800x theres nothing worth flashing just yet. Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to flash a rooted stock rom?
Also, I am still not able to enter Flash mode with the whole back button while inserting usb cable. the light is still blue.... any suggestions?
You shouls be holding the search key.
sent from the original unlocked R800X.
i will try the search button instead. Also I flashed a kernal and now the phone is super slow. How do I flash the stock ROM and stock kernal. I am doing some reading but I am still lost. seems like I get routed to xperia arc pages...... can anyone give me some guidance. sorry to be a pain, but I am excited to learn

Hey, everything you need to know is in the many pages (and the initial post which is constantly updated) on my State of Development thread. Read through there and you will see that everyone else is also having problems with the kernels and roms making the phone unresponsively slow. The first post also has links for stock files that you might need.
Basically if you get your phone into fastboot mode (turn off, hold search key, plug in USB line, solid blue light turns on) you can do two commands to get you back to stock, and then follow the rooting instructions that I have on the R800x Rooting thread. Its linked in the state of development thread. Second item, i believe, below the link to Bin4rys.
The two commands would be "fastboot flash system system.sin" and "fastboot flash boot kernel.sin". the first command might not be necessary even, just the kernel one might fix you.

A100 Brick....cannot find answers!!!

Hey all,
This is my official "first" post. I rooted the A100 while it was on Honeycomb. Everything was fine. I got an ota update and updated to 3.2.1. Rooted it again and everything SEEMED fine. I got the ota ICS update and the tab would hang at the green android and give me a "!" after about 5 seconds. I fiddled with the update for a while and took it to a friend that knows more about this than I. He proceded to try and unlock the bootloader with the ICS unlock, while it was on Honeycomb. Now my tab is bricked with the green Acer logo, it will not boot. I have no access to recovery, fastboot, adb, bootloader. I can get it to APX mode. I tried to NVflash it, but when I use any NVflash commands, device manager just kicks my device off and the command doesnt execute. I cant use the EUU, because it keeps telling me my CPU ID is wrong, even though I KNOW its correct. I have searched the forums and sent PM's to everyone that has experienced this and fixed it, but no one has answered. Could SOMEONE, ANYONE, PLEASE help!!!!!!
Thank you in advance!!!!!
Cory
Really
No one out there has any insight into this? Ive seen that there are a couple people in the forums that have fixed this issue, but in their posts it doesn't really describe how because they were being PM'd. PLEASE, any info would be GREATLY appreciated!!!!

Try using the search on the forums, it's been discussed several times and the only way to fix it currently is to send it in to acer for repair and hope they replace it with a different board that the euu works with. Please stop posting this same question when its been asked repediatly already there are 4 separate posts with this same question being asked by 3 different people

OK
I have searched the forums for the past I cant tell you, how many hours. I have looked and looked and in one forum, it looks as though someone fixed this issue because they were able to somehow get to fastboot. I would not just post this on here without my resources having been exhausted. The problem is, in EVERY FORUM I CHECK, the answers and such are PM'd to each other! I have even PM'd the people that seemed to get something working.......to which I have received no reply. Ive seen the posts on this, Ive tried NVflash, I tried to boot holding EVERY combination of buttons, EUU doesnt work, because of the CPUID being "wrong". I have done my research, sir. Please PM me if you think I have wronged you in some way by posting something in a forum meant for helping others, instead of putting me on blast because you think Ive been lazy and not searched the forums.

can you boot into fastboot mode?
dunno
Im not sure if I can get to fastboot. There are a couple of people that, it seems, could get to fastboot and APX. Could you direct me on the ways of getting to fastboot? Adb doesn't work for me. Only APX mode. It boots to the green Acer logo. When I try to get to recovery (VOL+PWR), it hangs and will not go to recovery.
Sorry for being short earlier, Im just so frustrated with this. Ive been researching this issue for DAYS. (NVflash, APX, bootloaders, adb, etc....) No progress on it. I even have a DEV friend who may try to decompile the EUU and see if he can force push it to the tab....he just has to find the time. lol
done
At this point Im willing to use the tablet for target practice. If anyone wants it, to mess around with or whatever, you can pay for shipping and keep it.

If you and orient fastboot and has the bootloader on the A200 prepare to unlock and install cwm recovery and is saved
hard-resset first try with the buttons
1 tablet off completely its
2 lock button on the screen is right
3 hold down power and volume - that is left
4 when the tablet vibrate release the power button and quickly move the screen lock button to the right and left without releasing the volume -
5 your tablet should start
but it works I say and try fastboot
I dont know if the boot loader is locked or not. I cant flash cwm because I cant get to recovery/adb/fastboot/etc. I tried the hard reset and the tablet hangs on the green Acer screen after reboot. NVflash doesnt work because ???, device manager just drops it when I try to send commands and nvflash says something about not being able to write to usb. And yes, I have the Nvidia apx drivers installed.

are you able to get fastboot going?
if so try to flashing a custom recovery from thor 17 ( google it)
i had a problem like this and was able to fix it by flashing the leak isc rom through this recovery. it might be worth a try.

I think you might have soft bricked your phone. Search the forum how to unbrick a soft-bricked phone. That might help
Are you positive that your WFS is GSM -marvel-a510e ?
Also ,Could you be a bit more specific about what happens when you try to go to boot-loader mode or when you try to boot it.
As in the provided link, did you have to perform procedure 3 or did you perform procedure 2 and was it working? A bit more info about what you did could help others analyze the issue

At the link i did the procedure 1 because my phone couldn't update to 2.3.5 so i tried to update it that way.
when i start the phone it just flashes it's screen and then goes off. it doesn't show htc logo or anything it just flashes some pixels. the loop is so frequent that it happens in 3 sec. Even if i try to start the phone by pressing "volume -" key and "power" key it does same thing, just loops every 3 sec.
I have tried to find a way to fix this but it seem that there is nothing to do because i can't boot to recovery. Is there a way to put the phone to recovery in other way or is here a way to make factory install?
It's really hard to do anything to this phone because my pc won't recognize it in any possible ways and it won't boot to recovery mode.
Do anyone know if i split the phone in to pieces and then manage to boot it or find the system memory and change files in there.

Even if you want to unbrick the device using back-toback tool , you need to enter the boot-loader mode.
Even for other ways, still it needs to be detected by the PC so that we can pass commands using ADB.
Sorry Dude, I can't help much either I am new to this myself. But i hope somebody here will definitely help you
2. There is a possibility that you could "brick" or bootloop your phone. There are two types of brick: soft (recoverable) and hard (non-recoverable). With a soft brick, the phone will not boot or keeps rebooting ("bootloop"), but it can be started in bootloader mode which allows repair of the ROM. With a hard brick, the phone won't even boot into bootloader after holding the power button for 10 seconds and the phone must be returned to HTC for service.

Have you unlocked your Boot-Loader from HTC Dev? Also, you need to install a recovery tool in order to boot into recovery. If you have done only the steps mentioned in the

then you haven't unlocked the boot loader and no recovery is also installed (I believe) . In this case, I think this is a hard-brick(Correct me if am wrong) which is impossible to recover . Anyways, we shall await other replies from DEVs here in the Forum.

I tried to unlock the bootloader but it wanted 2.3.5 so i tried to install the new version. now it can't do anything. Well this didn't broke my heart because the phone is pretty worthless . now i have to buy new phone sooner than i planned but still all help is still accepted.
Hi, exactly the same for me : I bought the phone 2 years ago and immediately unbranded it with a goldcard, but never tried to unlock it because it was my wife's and I didn't want to risk anything.
Now she got a new phone, I wanted to play a little with the Wildfire S ^^.
In order to unlock the phone on htcdev I had to update it from 2.13.401.2 to 2.13.401.3, with RUU because can't update with OTA (different CID), with goldcard inside.
After the RUU finished, it says "congratulations everything went well", but actually the phone does not boot, stocked in a loop "quick flash / turns off", can't access bootloader, no USB detection for ADB.
Can't send it to HTC because the 2 years warranty is expired, how ironic !
So... if anyone does know or see any trick that could help to boot anything on this "seems to be hard-bricked" kid... huge thanks to you

[Q] Stuck at Unlock Bootloader screen

My soft brick Verizon gnex is giving me a bit of trouble. It was stock, locked, and all those other things that you all probably frown upon, but worked fine for me and I had not reason to change this. It got stuck in a boot loop and a hard reset and wipe didn't do anything. I found efrant's guide and got everything set up. fastboot devices results in a correct read of my device and I can run fastboot reboot-bootloader, which I did as a check to make sure computer to phone commands were working fine.
The problem is that when I run fastboot oem unlock, I get the unlock bootloader?, can scroll to "Yes" and then my phone gets stuck there...indefinitely. I've let it go for up to two hours and don't get anywhere. If I terminate with a battery pull/ unplug, I get a "too many links" error. Running wug's toolkit does the same thing. Rebooting into fastboot works, but the phone is still locked. If I select "No" on the unlock screen, I get the Google splash forever. Any suggestions?
i hate to ask this question... but...
when you scrolled to yes, did you press the power button to accept the selection?

I wish the solution were that easy (though if I were that stupid....yikes). I did hit the power button and cannot scroll to No. The device is really just stuck there. My cmd prompt is just hanging (...) too. I suppose it could be that the communication is only going one way (computer to phone) but somehow isn't going phone-to-computer. I've tried different drivers/cords/USB ports, but (right now) don't have another computer that I can play around on.
I may give it one last driver reinstall try, but it's looking like Odin is the way to go?

No dice. Samsung offered to let me send it back, but I never got around to it. If you send yours in and/or figure it out, let me know and I may turn my current paperweight into something usable. Best of luck, and sorry I don't have more to offer!
OK thanks for clearing that out. I have tried everything, it seems that memory is corrupted and that's why bootloader can't format it and is stuck at unlocking... I will update if I found anything.

[Q] [Help] HTCdev bootloader unlock not working

I have been looking for the past couple days and have not found an obvious answer for my issue. So hopefully this isn't an answered repeat but if so pleas link ^-^.
I received my HTC One M8 dev edition the other day and was hoping to get it unlocked with probably cynogenmod installed while it was fresh but I am having issues with the bootloader unlock. So far I am able to get my unlock code from HTC and when I flash it the command window shows success but I never receive the prompt on the phone to commit to the unlock. I found out the hard way that it didn't auto accept since I soft bricked installing twrp and no longer have access to the recovery even after reflashing a stock one (but at least I have phone access again).
Has anyone had and found a solution to this problem? I was really looking forward to having a nice custom rom but seem to be stuck with the factory dev edition which is still loads better than the carrier edition. I will consider a non HTC bootloader unlock if I have to but the dev unlock seems nice and easy.
Hopefully some one can just tell me I did something retarded and all will be good ^-^.
Also I have tried Squabbi's toolkit but it ends up the same way, but less command prompts.
Thanks

You should be able to enter recovery by going to fastboot and using the volume keys to navigate to the recovery option, and picking it by pressing the power button.
To enter fastboot with your phone on, hold down the power button and vol. up until your phone turns off (20 seconds or so). AS SOON AS IT TURNS OFF, switch to power button and vol. down. Then go to the recovery option, and you are in.
And while you are in fastboot, you might as well try running the unlock key again. If it doesn't work, go back to HTCDev for another. I'm not sure how that works, but I think you could get another code if you can't get this one to work.

Currently when I try to enter recovery it enters a boot loop and freezes on the HTC screen. From what I read this is from trying to install a custom recovery with a locked bootloader. That part I can live with for now since it does not seem to be an issue, just the outcome of my mistake. My biggest issues seems to be the bootloader unlock not working. unless the two are related which could be as I am fairly new to this process.

So, have you tried the code again? And/or have you gone back to the HTCDev site for a new unlock code?
I have tried two unlock tokens so far and tried both of them several times. It's almost like I'm submitting something wrong and don't know it. When I submit the token I am including both the start and end brackets which is what it appears to be asking for and not just the string between them.

Are you copying and pasting the very first part of the code?
The part that looks like:
"(bootloader) < please cut following message >
(bootloader)" ?
IMMEDIATELY after that is what you copy and paste.
The copy should start when it says "<<<< identifier token start >>>>"
I am only copying the <<<< identifier token start >>>> and <<<< identifier token end >>>> along with the string between and leaving out the bootloader tag that is on each line.
I guess one question I should be asking is are there any settings on the phone that I need to set? I have developer options activated, usb debugging on, and the fastboot option unchecked in the power settings. Other than that the phone is stock settings. I remember my s4 needed to be in a specific usb connection mode but since they are completely different phones im not sure if that will apply here.

That's what I was afraid of haha. I don't know why but while I am no expert in this area I do not feel I'm ignorant either yet I always seem to have problems even when I follow the steps correctly >.<
I do appreciate the troubleshooting greatly thank you. I will keep trying things and see what I can find and if I figure it out you bet I will add it here because I can't be the only one getting stuck haha.
Can you please post the results of

Ummm, yeah . . . in fact I think I do:
Maybe I'm missing something here. But the Dev Edition comes already bootloader unlocked, and therefore should be no reason to do so.
I think the prompt to unlock never comes up on the phone, since its already unlocked.
