[Q] LTE vs CDMA - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

i have a galaxy nexus from verizon and 4gLET is avaliable in my area although it isnt always connected to 4g, my question is, do i have a LTE phone or CDMA version? and what is GSM?
sorry if i sound like a noob but i need to know what i can and cant put on my phone
thanks in advance

The Verizon Galaxy Nexus is both LTE and CDMA. These are the cellular technologies that Verizon uses. When you see references to either it's referring to Verizon's Galaxy Nexus. The GSM version is the international Galaxy Nexus.
While similar these phones are not exactly the same. If you are flashing mods, ROMs, kernels, images, and etc make sure you stick to LTE/CDMA threads.
In addition you may also see references to the Verizon Galaxy Nexus as toro, tuna, and mysid. The international GSM version is also referenced as maguro, and yakju.

Thank you. You answered all my questions

Verizon GN LTE and GSM?

I've seen some eBay auctions selling the Verizon GN LTE but they also say it is GSM capable. Just wanted to check with someone if they know there is such a variant. Or does the Verizon version support GSM and I just didn't know about it?
each handset has different hardware, completely different radios.
It's just ebay's default phone description and it's a mistake.

GNEX HSPA vs I9250 any difference??

So i purchased the GNEX I9250 (international version) im just wondering whats the difference in hardware from the US HSPA version
I believe they are identical.
They're both HSPA. That means the network they run on.

The international one is hspa+ too.
They are the exact same phone, they are both the I9250.
The only different ones are the Verizon and sprint ones. (Cdma/lte)
great thanks for the input, i was doubting my self if i purchased the correct one, im running mine on T-mobile

Don't worry it'll work fine. I was using mine on T-Mobile while I was in America for the last month and had no problems. While I had T-Mobile signal anyway but that's another story and not a problem with my phone more of a problem with American carriers.
I also have small question. I just got my Galaxy Nexus direct from google. When loking at the ROM threads and whatnot, should i be using the GSM roms? Are they for the international version only, or are they safe to use on my straight google nexus.
Just didn't know if their was anything different about this than the GSM one that has been around for a while.

Difference between 'clean' Nexus and 'any carrier' Nexus?

Hi, are there any major differences between unlocked Galaxy Nexus and Sprint/Verizon Galaxy Nexus? Those with the carrier ale much cheaper, why is it so? It has a stock ROM so using it with any carrier shouldn't be a problem. Also, I would like to use the phone from the USA in central Europe, any GSM differences?
sprint and verizon versions are not GSM, they are CDMA and will not work on a GSM network.

[Q] GNex usage on other carriers?

Hey everyone, sorry in advance if this was already asked. I did a search and didn't find anything. I'm also sorry if this is the wrong forum.
I have a Galaxy Nexus from Verizon and am absolutely beyond done with them and contact services in general. Can my Verizon GNex work on another carrier? Which carriers will it work on? I know T-Mobile and other GSM carriers are out buy my knowledge of CDMA and if it's a single standard like GSM or if there are different flavors of CDMA is lacking.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated
Any CDMA should do the work, but to get it working it's different to just SIM-unlock your device like in GSM devices, If you're in the US, I believe Verizon and Sprint are the only CDMA compatible carriers.

need some help

I have a question I have a Verizon galaxy nexus I want to put on straight talk for my son.. I also have a verzon s4 it was global I put the straight talk at&t sim in it switched it to gsm and it works on straight talk just fine my question is is there a rom or mod out there that would make my Verizon galaxy nexus global or multi carrier so I can do this with it it takes a sim card but unlike my Verizon s4 the galaxy nexus doesn't have the global settings to make it either gsm or cdma but surely there has to be a rom that would make it multi carrier or global ready. please help theres to many geniuses on this site for there not to be a way..
Pretty sure its not gonna be possible. Maybe you could put it on Verizon pre-paid but I'm not even sure that's possible. As far as flashing it for gsm I can promise that's not possible.

It doesn't have the hardware to run on GSM. You would need the GSM version of the Galaxy Nexus for this to be possible, not the LTE Verizon version.
