honeycomb to Dinc.? - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i went to verizon, and they told me that honeycomb is on tablet.
can honeycomb be installed on Dinc.?

My first guess would be no. 3.x was designed to be optimized for tablets, so most likely a no-go for handsets.
Sent from my telephone.

R2DoesInc released Honeycomb for the Inc, but it is unstable and he hasn't worked on it in forever.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using XDA Premium.

Native Honeycomb also has no phone dialer and I do not belive R2 ever got one to work.

Better just use ics which is superior to honeycomb. Look in dev thread for ports. Keep in mind they still have issues.
Also I doubt anyone would port it I'd you still want it.

Gingerbread ROM on the G2?

I am a noob to these forums and this seemed the best place to ask considering it is a Q&A forum. Considering the G2 is a stock android device how hard would it be to make a stock gingerbread ROM for it? Are any devs out there working on it? Is teamdouche working on CM v7 based on 2.3? I have been looking around for any inclination of this but have seen none whilst other devices get gingerbread ported over/compiled for them. Just want to know the status (or hopefully an ETA) on a Gingerbread ROM for the G2. If I posted this in the wrong place or this has been posted before my apologies.

I don't know if it's out yet, mang... but I'm sure that once it is, it'll be a hot commodity. The modding community is absolutely amazing and I think they seriously need to be hired by some of the mobile companies out there. Their work is fantastic.
well nobody can make a rom or anything until the source code is released...and that hasnt happend yet. as soon as the nexus s comes out (which is this week) then the source code will be extracted from gingerbread and itll be able to be used. right now we just had a SDK file, and that really isnt used for anything but looks. mainly used for themes and such.
Then why does the EVO have a full working ROM for gingerbread? I believe the DESIRE and the HD2 also have it going.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
There isn't a working gingerbread ROM for the EVO, it's just FroYo with some parts ripped from 2.3. Gingerbread will be released in a couple of days along with the Nexus S, after which the AOSP will be ported to existing devices - but it'll still be a few days, if not weeks until something stable comes out.
I wouldn't hold my breath for it.
My apologies for my ignorance. I thought they were actual 2.3 builds considering the XDA posted list says "devices running gingerbread". So absolutly nothing can happen with gingerbread until a device with gingerbread (nexus S) comes out?

Cyanogen will not port it to the G2until 2.3 is released for the G2.

Not a problem, you were just asking
All we have running Gingerbread right now is the android emulator, from which we can pull apk's and libs, but most of them need tweaking to get them to work on FroYo. Plus I don't know if the market works on Gingerbread.

Is that an actual statement from teamdouche/cyanogen or just from studying release behavior in the past? When you say release you mean T-mo pushes it as an OTA correct, I know someone on here will "release" 2.3 long before T-mo stamps it for approval.

So at the moment there is no actual gingerbread (save for the reveiw models floating around phonedog, mobileburn, etc are unboxing) out just froyo with the modified characteristics of gingerbread? Pardon the question if it seems silly, most of the comment went over my head.

I'll bet we have a ported ROM before New Years, usually a huge release like this gets all the attention of the devs. Especially since with perm-root, s-off and several stable 2.2 ROMs, the devs don't have all that much to work on atm.
Team Villain were working on one, but it became clear that there was going to be no way to make Audio work until AOSP is out so its on hold until then.
and without audio a phone is useless, no ringing, no sound in calls, no music etc etc

Definatley looking forward to it when Villain gets their hands on the source code. I bet T-mo's is going to be ladened with the same bloatware that their 2.2 install on the G2 had.

Well atleast we have the themes for now, that will hold me over for a couple weeks but not to impressed by the nexus s enough to shell out $520 I might just buy vibrant when functional gingerbread port is out allot cheaper and almost same phone well close anyway.

Honestly I would wait if your shelling out any money for anything samsung just placed a MASSIVE order for tegra 2's today which hints at dualcore phones sometime in q1 or Q2 next year hopefully. Wait for the qualcomm dualcore and nvidia dualcore wars to begin.

Anyone know roughly how long it takes google to drop the source in aosp after the sdk is released?

Highly doubt that's true. I came from a CDMA Hero running CM6 RC1 (Froyo) and as most of us know, the lower end devices (such as the Hero), never got an official 2.2, yet there was a fully functional, highly stable CM6 out for it.
Which ran magnificently BTW.
Ah yeah, those seem to be more like proof of concept. Once a retail version of handsets start coming out with Gingerbread, as well as the source code, I imagine we'll start seeing custom ROMs based off it.

Thats all i needed to hear...samsung should'nt getanybody money with their softaware build qaulity and support
Gingerbread doesn't seem to be very promising though, what's with all this hype around it?? The update seems pretty piss poor to be honest. Nothing much.

[Req]Motoblur 2.0/Touchwiz 4.0 on DHD

Does anyone can port Motoblur or touchwiz on Desire HD?
If exists pls tell me the link..
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App
Ugh! Why would you want either one! LOL can we also port over ios as well? Motoblur was okay on my laggy, slow old Backflip, and touchwiz was the first thing I wanted to lose on my Captivate.
Sent from a little blue planet, third from the sun.
But both motoblur n touchwiz were upgraded...I mean motoblur(droid bionic) and touchwiz(galaxy s2). These are not old version one I'm sure that new version is better than old version..

personally, TouchWiz 4 on the Galaxy is absolutely great, greatly improved from previous versions, although I would believe the hardware to be a much more vital factor in allowing better graphics and smoothness of the user interface.
I don't think you can port the full overlay of either because of the frameworks involved. I do know that the touchwiz launcher is available by itself. Just search Google. Ran into this question on galaxy forums lol. They wanted sense instead of touchwiz

Bringin this to life in some hope of new things. Evo has motoblur with some issues link >>> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1254113 <<<<
Anyone think it's possible to bring it over?
Personally think it would be great and would love to see some one do it.

well, the new moto UI isnt called motoblur anymore, instead, it's Moto UI, and personally i felt it looked dope especially on the new razr lockscreen, although it cant access to much shortcuts as sense, but it looked dope, LOL!

CM 7 for Galaxy Nexus?

I don't know if it may be possible... but is there a way to have a cm7 running on the gn cdma? I'm pretty sure there's not. But maybe there's a small chance there is a way to get it running...I just want to know if there's a cm7 that can run off this phone. I have cm9 nightly running but I want to use gingerbread. .too? Any ideas, thoughts, or a definite answer? Than in advance

Why would you want that..?! Millions of android users are never going to even see what we've got since yesterday (4.0.4) and you want to go back to gingerbread?
heh I wanted to run 1.0 on my nexus one...
Most likely NO. I cant imagine any developer (unless you want to take a crack at it yourself) that would want to waste their time on trying to make "MS Dos 3.1" run on a Windows 8 device
No. And seriously.... wtf?

Faster as in ics needs a certain amount of memory for it to run properly. But I'm guessing cm7 don't need allll the memory available on gn therefore it would run much faster....just like a windows 7 computer having g now like 8gb of ram available and new processors....and if u install windows xp it will run very smooth and super fast..since that system never saw 8gb of ram in the past on a regular desktop....that's what I meant...but yeah it will never happen anyways

It has nothing to do with the ram.
Or maybe even symbian! From the 5110 with the original snake.... ya, THAT would be fast!!!
It won't necessarily run smoother as it wouldn't be optimised for running on the GN. Also gingerbread lacks hardware acceleration so that would make things ever so slightly laggier and not to mention possible bugs.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
There is not (that I am aware of) any device that would run smooth at 720p on Gingerbread unless the OEM added a hardware accelerated UI (for example, the Note).

Just because you may not like an idea doesn't mean that everybody else has to feel the same way. If you're not interested in helping then feel free to ignore the thread, but do NOT reply just to give some smartass answer or harass others.
I think everyone here has been pretty lighthearted with each other so far but this is getting real old real quick.
OP instead of making comments and making fun of your curiosities I will simply explain:
There are no driver binaries for G Nex hardware that work on Gingerbread, and that's the main reason this won't work. Just like you couldn't really build Froyo for the Nexus S. The hardware drivers are typically coded to work with specific versions of Android.

Sense Port?

Hey I did some searches and couldn't turn up any solid answers to my questions but is it possible and likely we would get a port of the sense rom to galaxy nexus or is there a reason i don't see a stable version in CDMA Development?
Its possible but unlikely. Most people buy nexus devices to get away from skins.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA Premium HD app
If it is ported it's likely to be broken.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using Tapatalk 2
I don't really see the point of porting Sense to a Nexus device. I mean, since it wasn't originally to this device, it will be buggy and probably never run smoothly. Sense is very beautiful, in my opinion, but it's bloated beyond usage.
On a completely unrelated note, my favorite two ROMs for the Galaxy Nexus are AOKP for its customizability, and CM9 for being, well, CM9.
True that, thanks for all your imput! I guess also since sense is HTC it would also work easier if it wasn't a samsung...I just thought it would be interesting if you could have the launcher and widgets minus the bloatware apps.

I can recommend buying Beautiful Widgets!
For those saying a sense port would never work on a nexus or would run buggy check out the nexus s 4g dev section.
I just switched to a gnex but I believe if they did it on the ns4g it would never be impossible to do it here

[Q] Will the recent JB update for the A110 be able to be ported to the A100?

Or are the two platforms completely incompatible?
It's not impossible, but needs a lot of work
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Same displays right? Just a different processor, I think. If so should only need a different kernel.
Sent from my A100 using xda premium
More work then its worth as we have had JB for quite awhile now. We may be able to use some updated bits but porting the whole thing is pretty close to pointless.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
I wish there was and update but if not oh well im not changing my mind about getting 1 unless I find a Tablet with similar or better specs for $150
Our unofficial CM10 ROMs already run near flawlessly. Porting seems to be pointless at this time.
