One great thing I love about the E4GT, is the ability to slide to open new message, missed call, etc. Now, I am from a Cuban family, and Cubans tend to be pretty nosy sometimes xD, and force of habit makes me put a pin lock on my phone. Whenever I do, I miss the ability of the TW4 slide to unlock, and the slide to notification. So just wondering if there was a way, could a dev make a file to put in somewhere on the phone to bring back the slide to unlock before the password, or incorporate this into a ROM? Just a suggestion/request.
And if someone wants to take this further, maybe incorporate a way for sliders to pop up for push notifications?
I'd do this myself, but I'm no dev.

huh..wtf..wow
So you have nosy people in your life and you want them to have access to your messages, but not any other part of your phone???
No no no. If you put a password lock on your phone, it will disable the standard swype to unlock, which includes the slide to open notifications. What I'm asking/suggesting is to somehow make it so that enabling the password lock will not disable the swype to unlock.

+1
I would also like to have this ... my company's security exchange server protocol requires a pin to unlock my phone, I would like to have the "swype to unlock" screen before I get to the keypad where I enter the pin.
I've been asking for this and same notification volume level as ringer volume level lol
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
You can easily just do this with Widgetlocker. Just install it, download SGS II theme and set the security pin. By doing so, when unlocking with widget locker it will take you to the security pin screen instead of unlocking your device.
Give it a try.
MiLocker is another free one.
In still confused on the part about your noisy family...

Thanks, I've actually already tried it, but there is a nice considerable battery drain, ontop of no more slide to notifications for texts, etc. , which is one of the main things I want.
I actually tried widgetlocker and had it on rotary, and one of the slides opened my inbox, but it always opens somewhere to the middle of my conversations, never to the top, and never to the new message like the standard loclscreen does. And the battery drain was wayyyyy to much.

It may seem inconvenient to you, but I spend all day sending text messages back and forth, and look the difference in steps.
As it is now:
On> Password> Home button out of any application I was on that wasn't messages> Tap messages> open the new message.
Now, after what I'm requesting/suggesting:
On> Slide new text slider> Password and bam! I'm at the message.
Huge timesaver for people who send text messages back and forth through the day.

Sir toast, if you feel this is in the wrong place, please do move it. I debated here or themes, however it seemed more like a dev task to me and all the QnA threads about this just seem to trickle off..
So here goes. As you may have noticed, we lost lockscreen wallpaper selection when we upgraded to the evo.
I'm asking if any dev out there if it would be possible to pull that option from say the hero and implement it into the evo.
Anybody know if it would be possible or even if there is a high enough demand for it that someone might want to try?
My favorite way of accomplishing this is to use WidgetLocker from the Marketplace. A terrific app.

I've used it, its good, but I enjoy the htc lock as well as not running an app as my lockscreen. I would be more be interested in implementing this without an app.
I would be very interested in this actually. I thought it an odd choice to take away that functionality in the first place.

thanks for your reply. i was trying to use the new golocker that the go dev team had released and i noticed nine times outta ten when i woke the phone id have to slide the stock lock out the way and then slide the golocker next. i tried the no lock app but i guess it works to good as it disabled both lock screens. it would b nice to have golocker only. but thanks for the advice.

what 10 second rule?
Its when u shut the screen and immediately wake it again there is a delay bc of android os limitations so widget locker has to wait like 3 seconds before showing.
I mixed up the 3 second android rule with the food fall on ground 10 second rule.

can u share the idea i like to know
ok like a bunch of sliding blocks in from different directions that when you press and drag on them they can be slid away from screen.. and you "set the pattern" by choosing how many blocks and which blocks and in what order you have to swipe... so if someone for instance doesn't start on the correct block you can slide them around all day but it wont open... but if you swipe the correct say 3 in the correct order.. viola...
Instead of one constant motion like the pattern dots.. or a swipe lock screen.. you actually need 2 or more swipes...

I don't know how to code but the algorithm would be pretty simple
Assuming everyone starts with the same blocks in the same places
The specific combination of swipes would be needed to unlock the phone, dammit I can visualize this in my head but it's hard to put into words... I would also need to see what kind of layout u are specifically talking about, do u know how to code

I searched and could not find anything regarding changing the vibration pattern for an all stock note 2. Mine will only vibrate in a single long pattern, no matter what I set it to in the settings. I like to use the stock messaging because it's compatibility with the lock screen but I'd really like it to vibrate in a couple short pulses instead of that single long one. If I'm missing something I apologize but I have no idea what to change aside from the options in the settings menu. Any help or other information would be much appreciated, I'm sure it's something silly I'm missing anyway!

I am not sure! That is how the note 1 default notification vibrate was, the single long pulse. The sms mms one was a quick twin pulse, I'd prefer that! I like how the sms app works with the tw lock screen and launcher etc so I don't want to use another one if I can avoid it. I wish it would allow me to use a different vibration setting because my phone is silent a lot! I asked samsung and they gave me the ringtone answer. The service from the online chat is weak.

They also can help prevent accidental pocket-dials (or whatever else). As it takes a bit more effort to drag to a target, opposed to just tapping on a direct dial shortcut on your home screen.

Solution: Don't use the message/email widget on lock screen.
Seriously, it's one thing to complain about issues that affect the performance of a phone and how it's used and another to complain about completely trivial matters that are purely personal taste. Your complaints seem to be the latter.
You don't have to use the lock screen widgets. Sure, you'll get the screen edge reminders that there are pages on either side(for about a second), but they fade away.
I personally don't care for the lock screen widgets. I usually forget they're there. Would I want them completely removed? Nah, Google might have something in mind for them later down the road.

There's no reason not to disable them completely except your issues with me complaining. Get over your bias and see that this OS should be about having lots of options. If we don't want to use lockscreen widgets, we should be allowed to disable them entirely, simply because we don't need them enabled if we don't use them at all to begin with.
What we need is a single widget with clock weather missed calls etc. It should be here soon. If not then use widgetlocker or a ROM with 4.1 style lockscreen. This is android device there are always going to be options.

Unless you do what certain people say and keep Android as a base with very few or no options and having to depend on 3rd party developers to give you something else to do with your phone.
Android shouldn't follow this iPhone model when doing things. It should have plenty of built-in options as well as 3rd party options, not a lack of the former.
