Is there a way to lock after an hour? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I currently enjoy the slide to open default home screen when you turn your phone on, but I wish there was a way for an application that locked the screen with either a pattern or a code after a long period Of time like after an hour or so. Is this possible? What does anybody know of an app that will do this? Thank you

Try this:

EDIT: On the other hand, this will not change your lock method, so maybe it's not what you want...

I believe this functionality is built in to ICS but the longest it will wait is 30 minutes.
If the screen times out then it will not lock immediately but if you actually manually turn the screen off then it will lock immediately.

He's looking to have slide to unlock within the first 10 minutes, and pattern to unlock after 10 minutes.
You're talking about delay with NO screen lock (not even slide) which can lead to pocket dialing or whatever.

[Q] is there a way to delay the pattern/password lock?

in Windows Mobile, the screen timeout and lock were independent, so you could have the screen turn off in a few seconds, but the password lock only come on after an hour or whatever, is there a way to do that on Android, or an app that does it?

Good question..
cd's or tapes?
Sorry
Pretty sure it is not possible but good question!
If your good at scripting you can decompile the juice defender app and see how they do it. Jd has a feature to allow password lock to be delayed.

There is a small delay from the screen sleep to the lock. You have to be patient to test it because if you turn the screen off yourself with the power button then it's instantly locked as well. If you let the screen sleep on it's own, you have a little window of time to turn it back on unlocked.

[Q] CM7 Lock screen Question

So I've flashed the leaked stock Gingerbread sense rom, and it ran awesome and smooth...but I noticed between HTC sense and CM7 the lock screen for Sense was better.
On sense I can set a time to enable password on lock screen after a certain time period (10mins for example). So if you lock the screen and 3 mins later turn the screen back on, you are welcomed with the slide to unlock screen. However, on CM7 it does not do this. You can tell it to require a password after 10mins, but when you lock the screen and come back in 3mins it goes right to the homescreen. Is there a way to change this so you are always greeted by the slide to unlock screen??? Kinda annoying in my opinion, as when it's sitting in my pocket I've "pocket dialed".
You can set the "screen turned off delay", it sounds like that's maybe what you're talking about?

I've tried that. If, lets say, you set that time to 5mins. when you turn off the display and in 2mins turn it back on to check something, no lockscreen. Goes right to the homescreen. But, if you sleep the phone and in 8mins turn it on to do something, bam, lockscreen

Right, that's how its supposed to work as far as I know. If you set it to 5 mins then it wont lock it until 5 mins after you turn off the screen. I guess I'm not exactly clear on what you're trying to do?

A code patch was required for this feature
I noticed the same thing and discovered that this is an HTC Sense feature and it is not part of AOSP. So, early this month, I submitted patchsets to provide this feature in CM7. They have been reviewed, approved and merged.
This feature is included in CM7 nightlies as of 27 July 2011.
Feature control is in CM Settings -> Lockscreen -> Delay and timeout (surprise!)
There is fine-grained control for all four relevant delays, but selecting "Immediately" for the Slide Lock delays will reproduce the behavior of Froyo Sense. My personal config is:
Screen turned off:
Slide lock delay: 1s
Security lock delay: 5m
Screen timeout:
Slide lock delay: 5m
Security lock delay: 10m
My phone typically only times out if it is sitting next to me on the desk; I always power off the screen if I am going to shove it in my pocket.

Lock security

Hi guys, I've been lurking for a while until I got my GN with tmo plan. So far it's been a great phone coming from an iphone 4, definitely a step up and a different experience.
Anyway, wondering if anyone know how to set up the security settings. I set the auto lock to 30mins with pattern pass, and but as soon as I hit the power button and turn it back on, it ask for my pass. I thought it supposed to unlock immediately? unless I left it "off" for more than 30mins. Is this normal on android or am I missing something?

I think if you lock manually, it locks. You can let screen time out by itself and it will just unlock. I use 1 minute screen timeout and just let it time out by itself if I'm going back to device soon. Screen time out adjustable in addition to security lock.

I don't use the pattern unlock so have never run into this, but I think it might be a logical issue. The pattern lock and various other options are under "Screen Security" and so are basically just screen unlocks. The additional option for the auto lock seems superfluous and illogical, but maybe someone else can shed light on that. I am not sure why the auto lock after screen sleep would be needed if the pattern is already needed to reactivate the screen/disable the screen lock...

[POLL] Lock Screen

Come one, come all. I would like for you to divulge the methods behind your lock screen. Do you use pin? pattern? or a simple swipe? Why have you selected this method?
If you do use a more "secure" pattern or pin, what are your settings? This to say, how long before the lock comes on and things of the like.
Throw in any other information you think might be pertinent to this discussion, such as third party locking apps that might be better.
As questions go in Q&A do not check yes this is a question for a POLL.
I have edited your title
Thanks

I recently started using a lock screen. Because I lost my last gs3 and it wasn't locked.. I now use the pattern. I have it set for the screen to go off 30 seconds after no activity.. I also use the app Delayed Lock to have the lock screen delayed for 10 minutes after the screen goes off.. And I have it disabled when it connects to my home wifi..
I also have my info on the lock screen in case I ever lose it again..

Lock Screen Duration

This may be something so simple that I just can't see it but, does anyone know how do increase the display time for the lock screen? Mine only stays on about 2 seconds and for the life of me I cannot find the setting to change it. Thanks.

Under Settings look at Display and Wallpaper, in there is the screen timeout. I have set mine to 30 sec and it works perfect.
Hope this helps a little.

That seems to work for the active screens but not for the lock screen.

Do you mean the time it stays on if you press the power button but you do not unlock it? Just trying to confirm the exact time out you mean before I answer.

Not to speak for OP but yes this is what he means. It goes off after about 3 seconds in the scenario you just mentioned. Only thing that "helps" is if you have smart stay activated it'll keep the lock screen on when you're looking at it.
But the reason this drives me insane is I have some apps, especially my SMS app, set to wake the screen upon receipt of a message. Well by the time I get the phone in my hand or out of pocket the screen is turning back off.

Yep, that's my issue. If I ever get that ironed out I would like to have my dock on the lock screen as I did on my Galaxy S3 but, I don't see options for that either.

The only way to have control over the timeout period is to actually have a lock enabled. Rather it is pin, swipe, or pattern one of them must be enabled. The select Lock Automatically and then select the time you want it to stay on.
On my note 4 I noticed my screen was staying on lock screen for duration of regular screen timeout so I actually wanted the opposite of what you want. I then realized what was causing my lock screen to stay on if i pressed power button. It was the remote/peel smart widget on lock screen. If you enable it on lock screen it keeps your screen on for as long as your dimming timeout. Perhaps other lockscreen widgets might do the same.

What? ? Where is this setting at?
Im on OG5 stock unrooted, and its not under 'settungs/lockscreen '
Thanks
Peel Smart is a Samsung app used to activate the the note 4 remote control features. It allows you to use the phone as a remote for tvs, devices etc. Inside the app there is a setting to enable the app on lock screen. Thats what allows my screen to stay on while locked.

Genius! I have been uninstalling random apps and using Greenify to force apps to "sleep" in an effort to get my constantly lit screen under control... I don't know how you narrowed it to the Peel widget, but instant solution!!
