ADATA 16GB Class10 card - Galaxy 3 Accessories

Hello. I wanna to buy ADATA Card 16GB Class10.
I use Kyrillos ROM v9.3 and I have enable Hybrid Data2SD.
Actually I use stock card.
Will the Adata card better (faster) in apps on SD?
I can buy that card for 20Euro (100PLN). Is it great price?
Is that card better or worst than Sandisk/Kingston?
Thank for help, and sorry for my bad English

Sandisk is usually much better, depending if it's fake or not. I've had a few sandisks sd cards (up to 8GB max.) and they outperformed minimum class speeds, class 2 card had about 3-5 MB/s write and 7-9 read speed (depending on the card).
I also have a kingston 16GB class10 and it is quite good. Personally, I have no experience with adata.
Also, note that actual speeds depend on various factors. If you test/benchmark them through card reader speeds will generaly be faster than in the phone. And in different phones speeds will vary. In my galaxy 3 16GB class 10 kingston has about 2-3 write and 3-4 read and in motorola milestone (A853) speed are 4-5 for write and 7-8 for read. Tested with antutu benchmark and sd card speed test (Sst, has green icon, no longer available in market). SDtools claims that on that card write is 6-7 MB/s and read 14-15 MB/s in motorola and 4-5 write and 5-6 read. It is possible that difference is due to different testing algorithm. There is sequential read/write and random read/write. Sequential is usually faster on higher class cards and class2 - class4 are mostly optimized for random. Mobile phones mostly utilize random access except those that record HD video. Those in that case write large amounts of data in large sequences.
OK. After this mostly useless novel the answer to your question would be that you will definitely see an improvement with class 10 if it is genuine.

i have class 10 sd card and speed about 4MB read and write, i expected more...

Widze ze Polak na forum. Za adate troche drogo widze, bo normalnie kosztuja ok 80 zl a sandisc jest niewiele drozszy. Sam widzialem w sklepie wiec moge podeslac Ci link.
I' m from Poland too so I write to him in polish that what was written before about class number specification, read/write thing, lifetime of sd cards and guarantee. For me sandisc is better from adata coz I never have any adata products and I hear about that cards for the first time.

[Q] Micro SD, which one?

Hi,
I want to buy a 32 gb micro sd for my Atrix, but I see there are different Classes....
I saw in TheCellGuru a 32 gb Class 2 for about 75 bucks. But I remeber I had a Class 4 8gb, so what is the difference?
Can my Atrix read any 32gb card? Should I look for another one?
Thanks!
The higher the class the faster the SD card.

Thnx. But can Atrix read any class? What class should I get?

if you can live with the slower speed, den the 32gb is fine.
But whats the deal with speed? Does it affect performance on the phone or just data transfer time when moving files to and from the micro sd?
Enviado desde mi Motorola Atrix™ usando Tapatalk
IIRC, class speed also affects how fast the SD loads on your phone.
Thnx. So, lets say I never turn off the phone, and the sd card will load only once, getting a 2 class sd isnt a bad idea. Am I right?

Can someine confirm if Atrix supports Class 6 32 gb micro sd?

Yes an ATRIX will support a class 6 32gb SD ( finally moto adds ATRIX as a word in their keyboard lol)

Slight correction: the higher the minimum speed guarantee. A class number defines the absolute minimum write speed of an SD card. Devices can read the class from the card and with that can set some expectations in the software for how long things should take.
So with that, there are Class 2 cards that actually, out of the box, perform better than cards with a much higher class. Will they forever, once worn and fragmented? Maybe not.
It's all very vague, exactly what the manufacturers want
I had a class 2 8GB card and now have a class 4 32GB card ($45 on amazon with their goldbox deal, kingston) and the class 2 is like 2 mbps faster than my class 4... maybe i should have gone with the class 2...
I have a Lexar 32Gb class 10, it's working despise of some bad comments around it, so far, so good. The class of the card is about the reading speed - the higher, the better (in theory).
I have the 32g class 10 lexar but it failed on my once and I needed to reformat it. If I had to by another one I would stick with sandisk. They are pretty solid.
Generally class determines the speed of Read and Write.
Class 4 is usually the minimum requirement for HD recording as it requires faster writing abilities.
Not all microSD have the same speeds as each company varies with speed even if they are the same class. Some class 4 could actually be faster than class 6.
Beware of fake microSD as usually that may be one of the reasons that it could be slower or even die out within the first week of usage.
I would recommend using SD Tools in the market place as soon as you receive your card.

Just be patient with the deals, there's always a lower price.

Write speed, not read speed. The whole "class" thing is confusing enough without people giving incorrect information. Sorry to be so pedantic.
Here it is direct from the source (PDF): http://www.sdcard.org/developers/te...lified_Specification_Ver3.01_Final_100518.pdf
Also from the source, a simplified overview: http://www.sdcard.org/developers/tech/speed_class/
Class is based on write speed because SD cards (well MMC) of course were originally conceived of for use with digital cameras and camcorders, where write speed is critical, but read speed much less so.

I just tested my 16GB class 2 MicroSD (Patriot brand, off newegg) that i've had for a year or two. The minimum write speed during the benchmark was 10.5 MB/s, i.e. Class 10 speeds. Read speeds were 16MB/s. I'm pleased
Since there's a high variance, all you can do is buy a card based on brand reputation and the class rating and hope that it's actually faster than the class suggests. Does it need to be faster? I dunno, I only use my card for media storage.

greetings, im new to the forums (and the atrix, only had this baby for two days now), but i can shed some light on the matter.
with the microSD cards, the class tells you the minimum write speed. class 2 = 2mb/s minimum. class 4 = 4mb/s minimum. hence your class 4 is meant to be 2mb/s faster than class 2.
at the moment, i use a class 10 16gb from kingmax. for the most part, most people wont notice the difference between most classes, but if you want to take lots of photos in rapid succession or if you plan to film 720p footage directly to the SD card, or even if you watch really large videos, its generally better to go for a higher class.
sure, you can still take a 5-8mp photo and save it to a class 2, but at class 2 speeds, it would take ~1 second for the photo to save. on a class 10, it takes ~0.2 seconds for the same photo to save (assuming all else remains the same), which can come in handy for quick snaps. but given the amount of ram we have on the atrix, i'd assume it would buffer to ram first and copy later so it wouldnt be much of an issue.
I took a chance....
I took a chance and bought some Chinese 32GB cards supposedly rated for Class 10.
I ran a test on one of the cards , placing it inside my phone, using SD tools (from the market)
It reported write speeds of 4.0 MB/s and read speeds of 5.3MB/s. In theory that's about a class 6 but there are supposedly latency issues that creep up as the cards get larger.
I need to compare that number to known cards before I say anything about the source. I'd be curious to see test results from this app on other atrix's with other microSD cards.
I do notice that it is faster loading everything than my SanDisk 16GB class 2 card. My camera works faster too: faster to load the pictures and faster to take them.

Sd card class 10 Help Pls!

hi all i just wanted your opinion since the experts are "here"
i saw this card:
reference : MB-MP8GA/EU (search for this on google - i'm not allowed to post hyperlinks)
samsung
8gb
class10 plus
with adapter
at chip7.pt
for 9€... just wanted to know from you guys if the card is good or not, and if it is compatible with htc desire... i have the original one (samsung 4gb class 2)
regards
Its a micro sdHC so it should work fine. You may or may not get class 10 speeds in the desire though.
As for wherever you are buying it, I have no idea but thats pretty damn cheap.
Also as to whether its any good or not, i do not know. The original Samsung that came with the desire wasn't great. I only go for SanDisk or Kingston myself.
indeed it's quite cheep! that's why i got confused... i'm not an expert on this. i'm completly out from this subject... :S

Eu só posso falar Inglês como eu nasci aqui. Também por esse motivo eu não sei Chip7. são respeitáveis?
I would say there's probably no point specifically setting out to buy a class 10 card over a 4 or 6 for the Desire. I just changed phones and was surprised to see that my MemoryStar Class10 16GB reads at >20MB/s and writes at 14-15MB/s in the Atrix where I never saw over 6MB/s for reads and 5MB/s for writes in the Desire, about the same speeds the shipped 4GB class 4 gave me. Still, it seems class 10s don't consistently cost more than slower cards these days so I guess it doesn't matter.
Ive got a class 10 and it reads as 6MB/s.
But when my next phone arrives, I already have a class 10.

i understand. My point is just to know if that card would be a good buy for my desire. Since i have the original 4gb class2 (samsung) and i saw this one for 9€ (8gb class 10 also samsung). i don't think it's expensive, i think it's a pretty good deal.
just wanted to be sure.
I got a class 10 samsung 16gb for about £18 which i was content with ...
No dramatic increase with desire but much quicker when im moving movies onto my sd card etc... or for when I flash a new rom and repartition sd card - its good for moving a few gb of data ...
If it's legit, do it
Out of interest, is the slow SD performance Desire-specific, or does it affect all Snapdragon S1 devices? I don't even know if the SDMMC controller is in the SoC or external?
I bought a Transcend 16GB Class 10 SD and I am using Desire with MIUI rom. It is really disappointing as the SD write speed is just 2M/s and read speed is just is just 8M/s. All the people are getting 10+ M/s. How can I get better speed? Or it is the problem of the Class 10 that many people have mentioned in the mention ? Need your advice.

It isn't question of class, but question of memory controller. A-DATA cards are compatible with Desire.

I picked it up at Oxygen forum and kind of liked it because I find these geekspeek variations like dawg, gawd etc. amusing.
But since the D2EXT XPART is one of the best GB kernels I think I better say nothing more.
I don't know what is in miui, but iirc 2.6.37/38 all had their fair share of crappy speeds.

Does the note 10.1 (2014 edition) support microSDXC UHS-I?

I was using a Sandisk Ultra 64Gb micro SD card that was getting like 30 Megabytes per second read performance and 10 write according to A1 SD bench.
I just got in the mail a Sandisk Extreme Plus microSDXC UHS-I card and according to A1 SD bench on my Note 10.1 2014 it gets like 18 megabytes per second read performance and 20 for write.
I put my Sandisk Ultra 32GB micro sd card in the Note 10.1 and it got similar #'s to the Sandisk Ultra 64GB 30 meg per second read, 9 write.
I tried the Sandisk Extreme Plus microSDXC UHS-I card in my Galaxy S3 phone and it got like 50 Megabytes per second read, 20 write.
I don't understand why the read performance is so bad with the 64 GB card that is UHS-I on the Note 10.1 2014.
If anyone else has a Sandisk Extreme Plus UHS-I 64 Gig card, can you please run a benchmark with A1 SD bench and post your #'s?
Thanks
This might be of no help but I have a Samsung 64GB Class 10 UHS-1 Grade 1 and it works a treat. I haven't done a speed test but its pretty fast.

Could you please download A1 SD bench from google play and run the SD benchmark? The APK is only like 900 Kilobytes.
I looked through A1 SD benches reported results on the Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 ediition) Almost every returned result I could see was 20 megabytes or under for read speed for 64 GB cards, and 10 - 20 megabytes per second write speed.
I saw a couple Sony devices that had 40 + meg per second read speeds. At this point my Cell phone (S3) with the same card can read from it over 100% faster. So I wonder if it is a Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014) bottleneck with the micro SD card slot with certain cards.
Edit:
I also did some comparing opening large PDF's on my 64 gig Extreme Plus card vs the standard 32 GB Ultra.
Large PDF's open much faster on the 32 GB ultra. 2 seconds vs 9 seconds on some large PDF's (500+ meg)

Yes thanks. It matches the #'s pretty close that I got for my Sandisk Ultra 64 GB card.
To recap in a Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 edition) performance after several tests with A1 SD bench (using accurate with reboot advanced settings test for each):
Sandisk Ultra 64 GB card : 30-33 MB/S Read performance and 7-9 MB/S for write.
Sandisk Extreme Plus 64 GB card (exfat or fat32): 18-20 MB/S Read performance and 15-20 MB/S for write.
Sandisk Ultra 32 GB card: 30-32 MB/S Read performance and 9-11 MB/S for write.
I also tried my tests on stock firmware and flashed with cleanrom 2.0 R2. My results were the same.
In Samsung Galaxy S3 phone the same cards from above tested with A1 SD bench (using accurate with reboot advanced settings test for each):
Sandisk Ultra 64 GB card : 32-33 MB/S Read performance and 7-8 MB/S for write.
Sandisk Extreme Plus 64 GB card (exfat or fat32): 51-52 MB/S Read performance and 19-21 MB/S for write.
Sandisk Ultra 32 GB card: 32-33 MB/S Read performance and 9-11 MB/S for write.
If someone else has a Sandisk Extreme Plus 64 GB card, can you please post your #'s on the 10.1 2014?
Thanks
I just got a Lexar High Performance microSDXC 600x 64GB... 33 read 16 write. . Am watching this thread... Interested in a better performing card also.
You can't test within an 30mins-1hr of powering-on the device; the Media Scanner runs right after boot enumerating the SD-Card and will cut into your benchmark numbers.

thank you for the benchmark. Not a lot of people might be into writing test unless they're into movies shooting.

I trust them! :good:
You can get the most fastest memory in the world but unfortunately the bandwidth of the microSD slot on Z1 stuck on 40mb/s in reading and writing, which is good enough. Only internal memory of the Z1 reach 70mb/s.

SDcards.

Hey guys. So whats the best SD for the 10? Looks like the SanDisk Extreme PRO SD UHS-II is the fastest card available at the moment. Anyone using it and is there a noticable difference in phone storage speed vs the sdcard speed?
This is the one I was looking at. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produ...qxpj_128g_ancm3_128gb_extreme_pro_uhs_ii.html
OR maybe the 64gb version
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produ...sqxpj_064g_ancm3_64gb_extreme_pro_uhs_ii.html
I'm using the SanDisk Extreme Pro 32gb. Honestly, I can't tell much difference between it and my Samsung EVO+ Card
I'm using the 200gb Sandisk Extreme Pro. It's not the fastest, but I actually just cared more about capacity. Have it setup as my adoptable storage at the moment.
FYI, Amazon is selling Sony 128GB Class 10 UHS-1 MicroSD cards for ~$33. Link. 64GB is ~$23.
The fastest one you can get, that the 10 can actually take advantage of is the Sandisk Extreme Pro 64gb UHS1 - U3.
http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Extre...894646&sr=8-2&keywords=sandisk+extreme+pro+u3
The snapdragon 820 does not support UHS2 cards, so that would just be wasted money.
I'm using this one and the overall reviews are mixed but I get write speeds of 77 Mbps and reads at 89 Mbps but its relatively cheap for a 64 gig U3 card
http://www.amazon.com/PNY-Elite-Mic...346&sr=8-2&keywords=pny+elite#customerReviews
Larger capacity cards will be slower. 64GB may be best bang for buck if you are looking for performance. I preferred capacity as well as speed, and hence got:
http://www.amazon.com/Lexar-Professional-microSDXC-UHS-II-LSDMI128CBNL1000R/dp/B00U77V5KU
I have been happy with its performance.

I got this one https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01DYN4VPE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 which is $66 right now. I read that what is considered fastest is sustained fast write where if you are using the card as Adoptable Storage you may want fast 4Kb random writes which is not the same.
So, even where Extreme Pro exist I went for the Extreme in hopes the HTC 10 doesn't complain when adopting...and it didn't
Now I just have to keep searching for a plastic belt holster for a naked HTC 10..
4KB random reads are the most important for adoptable storage as you will be loading application data from the SD card.
4KB random write is also important but not as much as the read speed is.
To be fair though, random write speed is always much lower than random read speed, so focusing on as high random write speed as possible isn't a bad idea since if the random write speed is high, the random read speed will be high as well.
For reference the HTC 10 does about 10MB/s in both read and write for 4KB random.
As an example the 64GB size of Sandisk Extreme U3 has been benchmarked to be capable of 5.5MB/s and 0.5MB/s in 4KB random read and write respectively.
That card would be okay for adoptable storage, the read speed is halved compared to the internal storage but application writing data or updating them is excruciatingly slow.
Knowing the baseline 4KB random read/write speed of our internal storage and the usual SD cards, I would personally aim for at least 5MB/s read and 1.5MB/s read.
Higher end 32-64GB cards are usually capable of 7-10MB/s 4KB random read and 2-3MB/s 4KB random write. While Samsung's Pro+ 64GB card is crem de la crem at 10MB/s and 5MB/s respectively, about as good as it gets with current NAND technology.
Unfortunately SD card manufacturers don't advertise 4KB random speeds so we have to find the information ourselves and hope some kind soul has purchased the card we're looking at and benchmarked it with a decent card reader. Your best bet is to google the card make/model + crystaldiskmark or scour Amazon, Newegg and so on reviews for benchmark numbers..
If you find a review that states 4KB random speeds in IOPS (Input Output operations Per Second), the conversion to MBps = (IOPS * KB per IO) / 1024.
So if you have
4KB random read 1200IOPS = (1200*4)/1024 = 4.68MB/s
4KB random write 400 IOPS = (400*4)/1024 = 1.56MB/s
And the other way around IOPS = (MBps / KB per IO) * 1024
