Update - HTC Wildfire S

Update 1.02.652.00 keeps flashing up on my wildfire s, I run on virgin mobile, and I just recently s off and rooted the device , along with cwm. My question is , can I update this without breaking any compatabilty? Or will it effect something? And one more question, has anyone found any good roms for my device? Any cm7 ? All I see is ones for gsm but marvellc support..

Can I not flash older firmware ?

Hi forum...
In the Sonyericsson X10 section, we have a flash util, so we can flash whatever firmware version we want...
Do something like that not exist for the desireHD ?

Thanks for your answer..
So there is no flashtool to use, in order to revert back to an older Rom like them we have available to our X10 phones ?
The x10 can be flashed with all kind of stock roms using a simple flashtool, and without any changes like Root and s-off things...
The tool probably act like Sonyericssons update service SEUS..
But to understand this correct, there is no way back at all for us who didn't think about it, and just updated to the latest firmware ?
I'm sorry for the questions, but many things is called something else, and looks completely different here at desire hd section, when I am used to the x10 terms...
So it is all a little confusing...

Take a look in the Android Development section of the DHD Forum and you will find all you need. You do need to get root and then RADIO S-OFF but there are two simple tools to achieve that. See HERE for the guide.
If u accepted the latest OTA and did not have radio S-OFF then there is no way back................at the moment.

Hi friends

Hey guyz what u will advice me about rooting who is new to dis...plz suggest

Can you be more specific please? You want opinions on whether to root, or a guide on how to root?
Anyhow, personally, I will definitely recommend rooting because it enables flashing of Custom ROMs and allowing several great root only apps. It also allows features like overclocking your CPU, getting rid of Sense etc.
But, rooting can only be done if your phone is on Android 2.1. If it is on 2.2.1 it cannot be rooted by any free software yet. (Alpharev X will achieve this, but, it is yet to be released. Link - http://alpharev.nl/x/)
Ya friends i hv s-off nw thanks to alpha revx ...so what will i do next.??

[Q] Custom ROMs dont seem to work on my phone. Am i doing something wrong?

Hello,
Keep in mind that I am relatively new to rooting, I have tried before with an HTC Hero CDMA and that never worked so i got this phone and rooted it. I have a rooted HTC Wildfire S CDMA MARVELC Virgin Mobile USA with Official ClockworkMod Recovery 5.0.2.8 and whenever i flash a custom ROM it doesn't load the Virgin Mobile USA service. I'm not sure how to fix this and was wondering if i did something wrong or if there is anyway to fix it. Again, I'm new to this so any advice is appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to view my post and Thanks for any advice you have.
Make sure its a cdma ROM most are stock one is 3.5 (WIP) and a CM7 ROM is on the way.

Alright. I just figured out why the most recent ROM failed. It was designed for a MARVEL. As for Jikantaru XE ROM I'm not sure why that didn't work. I'll just wait for Cyanogen Mod 7 to come out. Thanks
For cdma phones it has to say marvelc

I don't think there is a kernel for dual boot on HOX
I know of siyah kernel for SGS3 forums only.

im so desperate to try that cyanogenmod10 on my hox

I don't think there is a way to have a dual boot but when you root your phone you can make a back up of your current ROM (the stock one) before you flash your Cyanogenmod. There are lots of threads here that'll help with this.
So there was a way to save my stock rom but does it change something like not reciving updates from htc or any other thing i mean the side effects for saving the rom or it will just continue as it was ?

In order to root you will have to unlock your bootloader and flash a custom recovery. These stop your phone from getting automatic updates.

Thanks to all replyes im giving up ill stick with the stock rom ..

[Q]Can i flash international custom roms on my branded phone?

Hi,
I have an ace II locked to o2. I would like to know if I can install Lite Rom v2.9.1 on it? The phone is already running XXMG2. The branded phone has exactly the same hardware as the international variant, just with an o2 boot up screen . I have already rooted, installed and increased the RAM capacity to 624MB using the international methods, however custom roms are a whole nother level. Please Help,
-Famzz (an ex GT-I9000 user)
p.s. If anyone knows of a way to debrand the phone, even better!
y.e.s

Yeah it works fine, I also have an ace 2 locked to o2, and I think it still is, but I have used over 10 different ROMs on it over the past year andi can safely say they all work
