[Q] No sound after installed FRX07.1 for my HTC TP2 - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

Hi, i just installed FRX07.1 on my HTC TP2 RHOD100 this morning. The problem is i found out there is no sound or ring. I can make calls but the receiver can't hear me or when others calling me, the phone is not ringing, just vibrate. I check the volume is up and everything is on. Let me put it simple, there are no sound at all in this phone. Please help!!
I already installed more than 5 times and still the same.

Appears the thread is solved.
Edit - OP PM'd me and said it comes back...?
I'm not sure what could be wrong. Are you on a .27 kernel, from the autobuild? FRX07.1, no other system changes...? Just apps installed?
I guess some app could be triggering it to, I don't know... Does it happen on a fresh data.img?

this works for me
just call your voicemal then run haret while your phone is still on the phone call.

Wow. That's a REALLY old fix for a mic bug that used to be pretty rampant... I thought these were all long since resolved...
If you guys have a boot with absolutely no audio, grab logs from GetLogs. I don't know how much it'll help, since FroYo and the out audio stuff is going away... You folks might want to also try out the new GB build that's still in testing - it's got a new method of routing audio that should work better for everyone. It is the future, so make sure it works well for you!

Low volume problem since upgrade to 6.1

Hi,
I have recently upgraded to WM 6.1 and tested various ROMs.
One problem I came across is that on a phone conversation my voice can hardly be heard on the other side
Did anyone encounter this? Any idea what it may be?
Turn off WOW EFFECTS in setting...
I don't think I ever turned WOW EFFECTS on (at least not intentionally).
Where would I find this setting?
as I told you, in settings...
the personal tab.
i also have that problem. been plaguing me for a long long time.
Try a few diff types of roms but make sure they have
1. Start up animation disabled
2. SetAcousticparam in their config file
these 2 are absolutely essential, else your phone voice would be low.
though mine is more or less confirmed to be a hardware problem. if you flash the official HTC asia rom and still get this problem. yeah your case is like mine i guess. other then that, if you find out something else, do lemme know

1) done already
2) where is it?
ringtone volume is very low in 6.1 (19209).
well, with PDAViet Rom I don't have WOW EFFECTS in my personal settings. However, I did find in the Artemis forum a small cab to deactivate the WOW Effects.
Since I installed it the problem is gone!
unfortunately that doesn't work for me. i've tried mine with freshly installed cab files, even those from official HTC, with no WOW effects activated. still doesn't work.
Worst still it's a random problem. soemtimes it works, sometimes it dosen't... oh well..
do you have a2dp headset? I have PDAVIET ROM and bluetooth a2dp headset and every time i finish listening to music, turn off bluetooth i have no sound on my device. No alarms, reminders, ringtone, sms notyfications etc. Had this isue in Faria ROM too.

HTC Hero mic too silent

hi there!
im using a hero with mc 2.3 and FU_6.35.07.08 radiofirmware.
everytime I'm talking to someone, he keeps telling me to speak louder.
no matter how good the signal strenth is or to whom i speak!
I've already tried several radios, just in hope to be able to handle it.
the only solution is to hold the microphone straight to my mouth (its on the downside)
but thats still not the all in all solution..
is there anything like a microphone boost?
or at least can anybody tell me its just a bug or something?
i just hope its not due to the construction.
did u used the Volume Boost app from the market ?(forgot the name....removed asap...)
I used this is had that problem...
and backup didn't help..
ended up had to wipe and re-flash...
dammit... yes.. i did..
thank you for your help!
ill try it out.
Happened to me to.
What did you have to reflash to fix this ?
I will try to get a modified csv file for all hero roms to increase volume on headset, speaker, and for incall volume!

Thanks Drizzy!
This will be much appreciated!!
When I hold my Hero in my left hand up to the ear my little finger (pinky) always cover the little microphone hole so the sound can't reach the microphone. Those who I speak with tells me to speak louder because of this.
Otherwise I get good reports of the clarity of how I sound
Actually, after the latest official ROM upgrade, people have been telling me to speak up, that they can't hear me properly or that it sounds like I have a sweater over the mic or that I'm in a tin can.
I was about to send it in, perhaps I've dropped it or something. But it apparently not just me who has this problem,
Yeh Im also having the same problem. I have the MC 2.3 ROM but did use the volume hack program also. Do you think this has something to do with it?? Does anyone know of any way to increase the volume of the phone without screwing up the microphone?
hi guys, im having this problem too but only since like yesterday i think! im sure its something to do with the modaco rom as if i go back to default everything seems fine.
Any ideas?
Confused
Hi,
Sorry about the maybe obvious quiestions but I am quite new to this!
I bought an apparently new unlocked HTC Hero from eBay recently (which I now realise might have been a big mistake!)
On "About Phone" section of the phone it says I have firmware version 1.5 and "Build Number": "MoDaCo Custom Rom 2.3 Core".
I am now realising that this phone is probably not as new as advertised and has not come with the original software.
Anyway everything else seems to work perfectly with this phone apart from the same microphone problems as other people have described, so I was hoping that someone could explain to me what has been done to the phone and any suggestions on how to fix it or return it to its default state!
Im sorry, for the simple questions but as I say I am new to Android and would like a phone that I can make phonecalls with!
Thanks for any help you can give me.
Solution
I think it can be solved by replacing the following files with the original ones:
/etc/AudioFilter.csv
/etc/AudioPara4.csv
/etc/AudioPreProcess.csv
Of course you have to be root to be able to replace these files...
Note: I have not tried the above yet, but these files contain low level audio settings, so there is a good chance changing it can help you.
Thanks for the response.
However being completely new to this I am still a bit unclear.
How do I access these files on my phone and where do I find the original ones?
I am pretty sure it has been rooted - although not sure how I check - it definately has a custom rom installed on it though
You can download for example the MoDaCo ROM: http://content.modaco.net/hero/2.3-update-hero-modacocustomrom-core-signed.zip
In this .zip file you will find the mentioned files in the /system/etc/ sub-directory.
Simply copy them to your MicroSDHC card, than in the phone use a file browser (like this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=530271 ) to copy them from the card to the phone's file system (into /etc/ ). After this you only need to reboot.
aaaah, i have this exact same problem!! I really hope it is the ROM & not the handset.

[Q] G2 No Sound during voice calls

I recently rooted my wife's g2 and installed CM7.1-rc1 on it.
She quickly realized that the phone's sound didn't work unless she put it on speaker.. The guide I followed should have set s-off as well and when I start into hboot (or whatever the recovery mode is called) i do see a message at the top about s-off..
I've installed both the 7.1rc-1 and the latest nightly release and they both have this problem.
After doing this I've also installed the latest radio which appeared to install just fine.. I downloaded the latest radio from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=970809
Version 12.56.60.25_26.10.04.03
In About phone->Baseband version it now lists 12.56.60.25U_26.10.04.03_M
I wasn't able to find much else in the forums about this problem except for an incredible s and a wilfire.. It may be related to S-Off but i'm not sure exactly what to check. There are so many guides on how to root I just picked one that seemed easy, I can't even remember which one it was.. I obviously have root access just fine since I am able to install roms with no problems, I just can't get in call sound to work without turning on the speaker phone..
Note that the sound worked fine before rooting but I am not sure it worked with the stock version rooted since I only had that on here for a few hours and didn't make any calls.. Perhaps I should go back to stock and see if it even works there... Any suggestions before I do that?
Also, the original guide I used was basically the same as the one here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/wik..._Vision#VERIFY_.28using_.22gfree_verify.22.29
Reading through that tutorial I found how to verify s-off, superCID and sim lock off.. according to the output all of those things are correct:
Code:
# ./gfree_verify
gfree verify_cid returned:
@CID: 11111111
OK
gfree verify_secu_flag returned:
@secu_flag: 0
OK
gfree verify_simlock returned:
@SIMLOCK= 00
OK
# start ril-daemon
#
Edit -- Since i posted this I have reverted back to the original sense 2.2 rom (the one that came with the phone) and I still have this problem.. This is the rooted version, I have not de-rooted/s-on'd the phone yet.
Just to clarify, only the incoming volume doesn't work and only if speakerphone is off.. I've played with all the different volumes on the phone with no luck.. The mic works fine as the other person can hear me whether speakerphone is on or not.
Adding screenshots of the boot screen if that helps.
Just a status update..
I have since unrooted s-on'd the phone putting it back to the factory settings and i still have this problem.. Ironic that this could be a hardware problem when it happened literally right after the whole root process and what not.. At least it should still be under warranty so I'll be calling htc either tomorrow or monday if they aren't available by phone on weekends.
My wife is still going to blame me for this but I'm not sure what else I can possibly do.. Perhaps the customer service person will have an idea what can be causing this.. I have played around with headphones and car mode. With headphones on I get sound from the headphones just fine.. If i turn on speakerphone while i have headphones plugged in the sound does not come out the speaker on the phone (just my headphones) which means it doesn't appear that my phone thinks there are always headphones plugged in -- otherwise speakerphone wouldn't turn on.
My only other option to returning it is just tell my wife to always use speakerphone, which she won't like for sure.

got same problem on my HTC HD2... warranty is over I think.. more than 1year.. guess i will need pay for it to repair. =/
this might help
Hey I'm not sure if you've fixed your problem yet but I had kind of the same problem with my rooted HTC g2.....I tried everything to fix it and then finally I remembered that I had froze the "car home" app using my backup pro. I felt like the biggest jackass in the world but after I unfroze it all my sound was back to normal. Hope this helps you out but either way everybody can get a laugh thanks to my stupidity :-D
The fact that your headphones work and your small speaker does not suggests that this is a hardware issue. I would look up the hardware guide for this phone and see where you can find a new speaker, it may just be as simple as that!
I dont think it's a hardware problem, or it's just a super coincidence but after rooting my desire z with 2.3.3 android to CM7 2.3.7 i'm also unable to VOL UP or VOL DOWN during the call !
Also would appreciate if someone helps.

Did you do a full wipe before flashing the ROM? Not wiping when moving between ROMs can cause a lot of random bugs.
yeah, i did!
although i used Clockwork
Now i've been reading that there are better recoveries for whipping stuff..
I use same Radio 12.56.60.25U_26.10.04.03_M. And i am able to install all roms without issues. BUT! Yesterday i updated to latest US MIUI and i lost sound in phone speaker and MIC. After plugging in headphones i was able to hear from headphones, and use internal phone mic. Try to flash some clean rom like virtuous g-lite or sense 2.0.0. Or if u want to use CM, try to flash other kernel.
There is an issue with a lot of Android devices where the OS thinks the headphone is being plugged in and unplugged on its own.
I have rooted 4.0.4 AOKP and it still occured.

[Q] [AUDIO BUG] Help me xda developers... You're my only hope.

Get it? The title is a Star Wars reference. As in developers are Jedi? Like in the movie? Nevermind.
I have been having a strange audio bug recently. I flashed RC Mix Runny v1.0 through to v1.4 and each subsequent ROM version did exactly what it should. No issues that weren't listed on the thread.
Then I flashed Runny v1.5, followed by (after the ROM had booted twice) a theme I made on UOT Kitchen. A few days afterwards, when making a phone call, I couldn't hear the phone ringing through the phone's speaker. Nothing. That's the bug.
This only applies to phone calls (or at least the speaker normally used for phone calls). When I select 'speaker phone' the rear speaker kicks in and I can hear the phone call just fine, though a little loud when walking around in public.
The headset also works perfectly.
I flashed RCMix3d 3.5 v1.0 today - no themes this time in case it was the cause last time. The ROM boots up just fine, everything seems perfect but when I go to make a phone call the same bug presents itself. Meaning it's most likely a bug I have caused, not a bug in a ROM.
But what did I do?! Has anyone heard of this behavior before? Could it be radio/RIL related?
If anyone can shed a little light, I would appreciate it greatly.

While you are searching for hours for a solution, download a different ROM (other than RCMix) and find out if it is really a bug or some hardware issue. And while you wait for the download and flash, keep searching

I flashed Black Ice [AOSP] to see if it was still persisting. It is.
Seems like it's a hardware problem. I was hoping it wasn't. I didn't want to have to pay to fix it!

I was holding back on changing the radio because I don't like higher risk of bricking. Having done it in the past though, I said it was worth a shot before I blame the hardware entirely and hand over money to fix it.
I had been using radio 26.09.04.11 and it's matching RIL with every ROM I tried.
Once changed to radio 26.13.04.19_M and it's corresponding RIL and the problem was erased. I can hear phone calls on the phone speaker again. (Like normal folk!)
Thanks for the push rakinisbat, I needed it!
Edit: NOT SOLVED. The problem has re-surfaced. I have made absolutely no changes to the system since it started working. I am now going to pay someone to take a look and will report back with results.
Definitely not solved.
This problem with the receiver not working has not gone away.
I have tried ignoring it for the last while and just using the speakerphone on a low volume - not ideal but workable.
A few days ago I changed ROM - curious to try out ICS. I load up the new ROM and a while later, accidentally forgot to put a call I was making onto speakerphone and suddenly the receiver is working again - JOY!
Now, two days later, the receiver is not working again.
I have pry tools now and would happily change the receiver, but this recurring trend of it working for a spell after a new ROM is flashed leads me to believe this is more software related than hardware.
If anyone has ANY ideas or thinks they could help (if I provide a logcat to them or something) then please PM me or respond to this thread.

The last time I changed to that radio, my audio bug was fixed (temporarily).
I will update to the new radio (12.65.60.29_26.14.04.28) I saw mentioned a few days ago and see if it changes anything - though I doubt it.
I have done a fair bit of research on this and it is not as uncommon as I thought it was a few months ago. It seems to have happened to the HTC Desire, Desire S and Desire HD - but not en mass. In every case, the phone was working fine, then came intermittent receiver audio, then receiver audio gone altogether.
I have not heard of one working solution, though I have had some helpful people lend an ear!

You say the problem is solved for a while when you flash a new ROM. Is there a possibility that a certain app that you install/restore that maybe messes with the speaker?
Just a thought..

An avenue I had not gone down. I have been restoring mostly the same apps for ages.
Thanks for the idea. I will do a backup and then a fresh install tomorrow (I'm at work) and check. Will report back afterwards.
Ongoing audio issue
I have fully wiped the phone and re-installed a ROM twice now (ICS both times, I know this problem acts the same with GB). I didn't install any apps for a while and had audio in the receiver for phone calls.
The first time I wiped it, I had audio back so decided to install apps from the market - one at a time and test the receiver by ringing the house number after each is installed. I got distracted (it was late) and when I next picked up the phone, audio was gone.
Second attempt, this time stay vigilant. I fully wiped the phone, installed a ROM, and got to work on installing the apps again. I installed a few apps, which I will list here, and audio disappears again.
Installed apps:-
Dictionary.com
Dropbox
Earth
Es File Explorer
Facebook
Goggles (I dunno why, the camera isn't even working - habit maybe)
Google Sky Map
Google+
Messenger
Moon+ Reader Pro
MX Video Player
Streetview For Google Maps
Sugarsync
Tumblr
Twitter
XDA
To my knowledge, apart from MX Video Player, none of the rest these apps should have any effect on the audio.
Today I am going to wipe it and not install any apps for the next 24-48 hours and see if the audio still disappears.
Tune in next time to see if the problem makes my brain crack in two.

I had exactly the same issue. After rooting my desire HD I installed ARHD 6.3.1 and it was working very fine until I installed the ICE HD theme for ARHD 6.3.1. Sorry, no disrespect to the theme author but I was not able to hear anything through Phone speakers after installing this theme. This is what I did to solve this issue,
1- Use Superwipe to clear everything using ClockworkMod recovery.
2- Install the STOCK 1.32 PD98IMG.zip from here. Put it in your SD card, Flash is using the HTC Stock Recovery (It will detect it automatically). Remember that the Kernel and Radio are inside this ZIP file so you need not to install anything else.
That's it. you are back to old stock ROM and now you must be able to hear you phone speakers. If not, switch off your phone for few hours and then turn on. (I know switching off and on sounds silly but it worked for me). You can install any custom ROM after that rooting again.

Thanks so much for getting on to me, I have been hoping that someone out there solved this issue and might read this little thread!
I will be following your advice today and will report back.
Solution seems good so far!
I'm not going to jump the gun again and say that it is definitely solved but my audio came back!
I did what you said, reverted everything back to stock. When it loaded up Froyo and for the first while, the receiver wasn't working. I set about rooting, Radio S-Off, ENG S-Off, adding CWM etc.
About three hours later (I didn't actually leave the phone off, I reset it a lot though) the audio returned to the receiver!
I'm delighted but remain skeptical as it has come back to life and then died again so many times before.
I want to believe!!!... So I remain hopeful. Time will tell.
It fixed itself...(!)
See post below
Absolutely positively finally fixed.
Thanks to everyone for their help in trying to solve this issue.
I replaced the broken receiver with a new one I got from eBay (along with prytools for under €10) and this issue is completely fixed.
What had happened, if anyone is interested, was that the inside of receiver housing and the output on the receiver itself had been clogged with dust, tiny hairs and the like. That must have shorted the tiny thing.
Lesson learned. Get stuck in.

[Q] [SOLVED] Galaxy Nexus speakerphone mode

I dropped my phones while skiing and some snow must have got in because now, when making or receiving calls, I can not hear the other side and they can't hear me unless I use speakerphone.
No media sounds play any more, however the phone notifications and alarm still work. I understand that perhaps the media speaker has broken but why is the microphone still working only in speakerphone mode?
Is there an independent microphone/speaker set for speakerphone?
There is nothing else wrong with the phone.
[EDIT] Another side effect is that the Google voice search was not working.
Install this: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.seb.audiotoggle
I think it will actually solve your problem. It did for me when the exact same problems started to bother me today after skiing as well!
You need to start it at every boot as it don't stick between reboots. Consider using a startup manager.
The problem seems to be a mix of hardware and software in the headphone jack, but I have not examined it much yet.
Thanks for the reply. The app you suggest should be very useful and I will download it anyway. However, this to say that the phone had fixed itself this morning.
I put the phone on charge overnight, and this morning, it asked for my sim unlock code, which I thought was very strange! But I entered the code that I had received from my network provider and now everything is working as it should.
It was probably something do with the remaining water inside the phone or possibly the cold temperatures.
Good to know! Maybe my phone fixes itself during the night as well
Still working?
Has the issue remained fixed for you? I ask because I have the same thing - the symptoms are that I can't hear anyone and they can't hear me, all media sounds are off, and the phone can't hear me.
I ran Tasker to monitor things, and the phone keeps thinking I plugged in headphones (with a mic), so that explains all the behavior. Running the headphone toggle app works temporarily - sometimes only a few seconds.
After doing a factory reset, sound would still come and go. With my Nandroid backup back on, same thing. I want to return it, and so I put everything back to stock, and noticed that now the bootloader is locked again, the issue is gone (for now).
I just wanted to keep the discussion going because I can't even tell if it's hardware related or not, and other people probably have this problem, and it takes some snooping to realize it's the headphone connector (vs sound settings, speaker issues, etc.). It could be a short (my guess) but now that it's working today I can't return it as the tech would probably claim nothing's wrong. I also already used up the one return my stupid carrier allows, so I'd rather fix it myself if it's software-related, instead of sending it out for repair.
I still have this problem, even after cleaning the headphone plug. My guess is that this is a hardware problem affecting only a few. It makes the phone pretty much useless, as you can't hear the other part talking, so I made myself a software fix that resets the sound routing the the default speaker on every boot and incoming and outgoing call. I guess I can share the apk-file if anyone is interested.

Can release source if you are interested, but I am currently in a car getting ready for a ski weekend
I am also having this problem with my Galaxy Nexus. I would be interested in seeing the source, if you are still up for releasing it.

See attachment for source, I also added a compiled apk file in the zip-file. You can open the project in Eclipse if you want.
Thanks for posting the source. I was able to work with it fine.
I've replaced my Nexus with a new one under warranty. Hopefully this one won't have the same problem.

Worked for me. Still hoping that Negri will replace my phone though.

Thanks for releasing this! It works great!
I was going out of my mind trying to figure out what was going on. I was unlocked, rooted in stock 4.02 when this started to happen. I thought it was bad signal quality because i only noticed it when I stopped being able to make calls and use voice dialer. I only listen to music with a headset, so never even noticed that it wasn't working with the speaker til I tried to play a youtube video.
I actually upgraded to stock 4.04 with new FA2 radios and thought I had cured it, only to have it happen again. When I read this I tried resetting all my notification sounds (Handcent, et al) hoping somewhere there was a conflict, but still couldn't find it. I'm using NOVA launcher - wonder if there's something in there?
Anyhow, I gave up since your audiojack.apk works great! Someday when I have time I'll go back to troubleshooting to see where the problem is coming from.
Thanks again!
Works temporarily

This worked, but the OS will eventually think the headphone is plugged in again and I have to press the "Force Speaker phone" button again. I wonder if there is an event that is fired every time the OS thinks the headphones were plugged in? If so, that event can be captured and code could look to see if the headphones are turned off by the user and ignore the event.

If you want the same routing fix as audiojack but have it done automatically in a service try this.
There is an issue with a lot of Galaxy Nexus where the OS thinks the headphone is being plugged in and unplugged on its own. Try this free application to resolve it:
Search Google Play for Wired Headphone Routing Fix

Worked for me on Verizon GN. Verizon already has a replacement on the way... guess I should've done more extensive searching for a fix first!
Spoke too soon. Seems as though the screen doesn't shut off while I am on a call. Guess I'll give the replacement a try after all.
