Hello,
I saw that the phone is switched off when I press the power button very quickly after a few seconds turns on. This for me is very annoying, if I have the phone in my pocket sometimes turns on probably because Touch inside the power button. It is possible to change to having to press for a few seconds and not for 1/10 second ?
it is not possible ?

Why is this a problem? The screen will auto switch off again in 15 seconds if still locked.
Becouse i want turn off the phone.
You want it totally switched off? Hold down the power button and a menu pops up on the screen, switch if off from there.
There is no way to stop the power button waking up the device when it is "standby", that's its purpose, I can't imagine anything more annoying than having to hold down the button just to check my phone
I don't see how you guys don't understand his question.
He says that it is annoying that when you turn the phone off (for X reason) and put it in your pocket, the fact that it only takes a slight touch of the power button to turn the phone on means it involuntarily turns itself on in his pocket. He wantsto know whether it is possible to make it so you have to press a long time on the power button in order to turn the power on, so that if the power buton is only pressed for a second, nothing happens.
I really wish people tried to actually read questions on forums.
This is an important question for all that travel by air.
to avoid that during the take off or the landing the desire turn on inadvertently
My problem was born in the cinema when I turned off the phone and put it in my pocket. After a few seconds I heard the sound of ignition, so I switched off again, then yet again ... up when I removed the sound, while other people looked at me in a mole ..
It would be nice if you could choose to press the button for 2-3 seconds before it turn on, to prevent accidental starting
Totally agree. I had the same issue on the plane the other day. I had powered it off but during take off it powered itself on in my pocket. I used to have an iPhone and it at least required you to hold the power button down for a few seconds before it turned on.

I really wish people took the time to actually read the reply and accept that sometimes when the OP is in broken english it is misses details, before jumping in to criticise others while contributing nothing of value to the thread.
If you reckoned it was easy to understand the question, why have you offered no actual answer or constructive advice?
If you assume that the question is... can I set the phone so that it requires a long-press of the power button to switch it on when it is completely powered off... the answer is... No, you can't. Perhaps there is scope for this in a modded firmware if you root the device. I suggest you email HTC support to suggest this an an enhancement in a future update to the phone.
Why don't you try this FlexiSheild Case Cover, I purchased one and it has a very robust construction flexible but not sloppy like the silicone ones.
I have found that to turn the phone on or from standby you have firmly press the on button you cannot turn it on by simply sweeping your finger over the button it also offers a lot of protection to the phone and has some rubbery coating on the back to stop the phone slipping out of your hand.
I believe this will elimenate your false switch on of the phone

Everytime I boot my phone up, it works fine up until when the screen goes into sleep mode. Once it goes into sleep mode I cannot turn the screen back on, it stays black. The keyboard, end and answer key lights show up when I press the power button but the screen just stays black no matter what button I press.
I end up having to either take the battery out or using the stick to press the reset button on the side in order to get the phone to where I can see the screen again. I have adjusted the settings to where the screen doesnt go into sleep mode and the screen just stays on but that drains my battery. I want to be able to have my screen go off so I can save power but if it goes off it wont come on again until I reboot.
I have done a hard reset. This problem started happening to me when I started using the Energy Rom but I've even flashed different Roms and the problem still exist.
Somebody please tell me what's wrong! I need help! This is a big annoying problem to have. Thanks.
is this problem occurring when you slide the keyboard out?
i had the t-mobile touch pro2 with this problem.
the screen would die when the keyboard was out and not come back.
if this is the case, what i did was...
well. obviously not open the keyboard fully.
but if i accidentally had.
instead of pulling out the battery, i waited...
till the screen 'naturally' went to sleep.
than i would pull out the stylus or press power button
and the screen would come on.

Yes the problem still exist even when I slide the keyboard out. Once the screen goes off, that's it....pressing the power button to get it out of sleep mode, sliding the keyboard, I press all buttons and nothing works. The only thing that "works" to get the screen back on is removing the battery or using the stylus to press the reset button.
When sliding the keyboard out the keys light up but the screen doesn't come on, also pressing the power button lights up the end and answer keys without the screen coming on.

so. whenever the screen goes out, period, you cant get it back?
or the screen goes out and cant get it back once you slide the keyboard out?
if it is only when sliding out the keyboard...
try not opening the keyboard fully on the right side.
on my rhodium, after that point, the screen goes out.

Yes, period. Also, you know when you put your face to the phone during a call and the screen goes off so your face wont press anything on the screen? It doesn't come back on from that either once I end the phone call, it just stays black. I'm assuming you don't have any other suggestions. This Sucks

This has to be a software issue but I don't know where to start. I'm surprised nobody else has encountered this problem. I've grown frustrated of this issue because I don't understand why it's doing this. I have had the phone for almost 6 months only dropping it once 4 months ago and it wasn't a strong damaging drop that would affect anything inside. I guess I'll just have to go last resort and call warranty to swap the phone out. Thanks for the help.
Same problem

My phone also dos not come back on, when I put it in out the sreen with the power button on top, or when the phone goes to sleep. Nothing can put it back on(opening te keyboard, pulling out the stylis, presing the answer-, windows-, back- and end button). I and up using a music players too keep the phone busy what's makes it operational. Cant really remember when this started happening exactly. My phone is at the moment loaded with a standard ROM. I used too have a custom ROM.
My TP2 does this too, although I only encounter the problem sometimes when someone calls. I answer and put the phone next to my ear, the screen goes black as it should and the phone just dies. I can't hear what the other person is saying and the screen wont turn on anymore. I have to take out the battery to reboot.
set light sensor to manual in settings. You have some bad or fragmented code causing the problem. Pretty common actually, many different reasons, but usually either a bad light or proximity sensor or software issue. Setting the sensor to manual should do it, if not, hard reset and allow the phone to fully set up before touching it, to allow full customization process to complete. Search my posts on SOD (sleep of death) for more information.
Funny this was brought up. Now im worried I just dropped 250.00 and have a new one coming.
Mine started with the ear piece quit working. couldnt hear anything except on speaker.
Anyway I started having the screen issue over a month ago, only way to get it back was soft reset with the stylus. Also when the screen was lit, I couldn't hit the power button to turn the screen off. At times the screen would be on 24/7 and I just dealt with it. The times when it decieded to go to sleep was when I needed the soft reset. Well long story short I forgot my charger one day at work and the battery died. after pressing the power button for hours with no response, moving the screen in all diffrent directions as I pressed the button. It came on once after hrs of messing with it. Well today it died again and I am fed up with it so out came the tools. Once I opened it up I noticed the ribbon that feeds the screen from the mother board was worn and torn. the ribbon slides everytime the keyboard is slid out and it rubs on both sides of the phone. I thought maybe mine was just a fluke and was installed wrong considering the phone being 10 months old but now I read this and see maybe its a common problem. The cheapest I could find the Ribbon was 56.00 so I didnt want to chance it not being the issue.
I turn my phone off a lot when I travel to save power. I've noticed that only doing a quick press turns the phone off from a cold state which is very annoying when i'm just trying to make sure my phone is off like I did in the WM days and currently do with my android device. I'm wondering if this is restricted to my device (HTC 7 Pro) or it affects all WP7 phones.
Does this annoy anyone else? I've written to HTC so if it annoys you too please complain so we can get this changed!
My Focus requires a long press (2+ seconds) to turn the phone on. It sounds like your problem may be HTC-specific, or something is wrong with your particular phone.
Thanks for the head's up, my complaint has been forwarded to the dev department of HTC so hopefully they fix it soon.
my arrive turns in with a short press I think, as well as my tp2 and other HTC phones I've had. doesnt really seem like a big issue to be concerned over. the accidental turn off issue was resolved in the mango beta and powering off really isn't necessary just a switch to airplane mode or enabling battery saver.
Unless I misread the OP, his concern isn't with accidentally turning off the phone, but accidentally turning it on, since it seems that accidentally bumping the power button on an HTC phone will turn it on.

and I've told him that it's not necessary to do that in wp7. I don't get people, first they were complaining about the power button being too hard to press now it's the other way around.
l find that if you wanna check your phone..rather than pressing the power button press the camera button. If its on it'll go to the camera app. If its off it'll stay off.
I have never complained about the power button being too hard, I just checked and my TP2 does this too which is annoying. It's really not a difficult thing to implement and I should be able to conserve as much battery as possible without having to resort to flight mode only.
For now I'll use the camera button idea (thanks!) however ironically enough I have to long press the camera button to see if it wakes up, go figure...
Q&A is that way.... ---->
Sent From My Fingers To Your Face.....
So I woke up this morning to my phone blinking at me that I had an email. Pushed the power button to check it...nothing. pushed it a few more time...nothing. had to pull the battery.
When i turned the phone back on, it booted in safe mode ( safe mode text at the bottom of the screen ). Turned off and on again, and it booted into download mode.
Finally after that I was able to boot normally, but all my widgets were gone from my hone screens and had to be readded.
Has anyone ever seen anything like that? Very confusing because I have no clue what caused it to get hung up in the first place...
Rooted and unlocked, stock otherwise...
Seeing as you say it did blink that you had email I suppose you have light flow installed for the led notifications?
Read from some people that they had sleep of death with light flow.

Sometimes Light Flow goes rogue and will do that to your screen and not let it turn on.
Your action of booting to Safe Mode is what destroyed your home widget layout.

Good to see you again. Are you going to develop some cool roms for us?
Team BAMF has a private repo going on. When ready, we will make the repo public and release a rom. I did a 4.0.3 build thats on teambamf.net but I am not updating it further than I have.
We already have some really unique and cool stuff going on behind the scenes.
I don't have light flow installed. K9 controls the led on new email...
Also, I didn't try to boot to safe mode. I just pulled the battery for 30 seconds for so, put it back in and turned the phone on...ended up in safe mode. Turned it off, and back on again...ended up in download mode. Power button on start in download mode finally got me back into the phone normally...
I'm just saying. Safe Mode is what destroyed your layout.

thanks...that explains that part of it.
any idea why my phone booted itself into safe mode though? and then into download? i didn't do anything other than turn the phone back on...
Almost sounds like volume keys were stuck or pressed in. I assume thats not the case?
Download/Odin mode is volume down + power. Safe Mode is power +...well I don't know on this phone because we don't have capacitive keys.
Hey guys... so I've noticed my phone acting a bit funky after the latest KitKat update. Just a bit of freezing and lagging, but my 32GB of space was also full. So I did a complete wipe and factory reset and started from scratch. At first everything was great (about a week or two). Then the past day or two I've noticed the below issues...
1. While at work, I keep the phone plugged into my computer via USB with Internet Pass-Through and WiFi turned on. I have it setup this way so I can use the computers internet and trickle charge the phone at the same time. But when I leave my desk I simply unplug my phone and it connects to my works WiFi while I'm walking around the office. I get back to my desk I plug it back in.
Problem: I've noticed lately that I'll pick up my phone and it's HOT to the touch. As well as the battery percentage is actually dropping even though it's plugged in.
2. At night when I go to sleep, using the HTC Charger and Cable that came with the phone I'll plug it in next to my bedside and let it charge.
Problem: I'll wake up in the morning, hit the power button to light up the screen and nothing happens. The Home Key and the Back Arrow (are these what everyone refers to as the "soft keys"?) are lit up but the screen will not turn on. To get the screen on, I have to HOLD the power button down, the screen then lights up with the Restart menu showing (and yes I've restarted it many times in hopes of fixing this issue) and I have to tap outside that box (on my wallpaper or wherever) and the menu will go away and my screen is back up like normal. However as soon as I tap the power button to turn off the screen (not the phone) and tap the power button again, nothing happens except the bottom keys being lit up. It's an ugly circle.
I have noticed a few times when holding the power button to bring up the screen/reset menu, sometimes the screen/reset menu will not turn on, but the home and back arrow keys on the bottom will flash a few times.
Any ideas guys? Loved this phone up until now
So after 200+ views and no comments I'd just like to add that I think I found the fix for this. I spoke with a few different HTC techs and tried multiple things before having to ship it out to them and right before doing so they had me reset what they termed the "Charging Logic"
To reset the Charging Logic
1. Power phone completely off
2. Once powered off, hold the Volume UP, Volume Down, and Power buttons for 2 minutes (my fingertips were sore afterwards LOL)
3. You should get a white background with the green HTC logo turn on/off multiple times. Almost as if it's trying to reboot...
4. After 2 minutes, let go of the buttons and let it reboot.
DONE!
Since I've done this, I've noticed my battery life extremely improved. My phone is no longer getting crazy hot, and the screen now turns on after an over-night charge!
Hope this helps others!
Does it matter what kind of charge you have on the battery when you do this? This is the first I've ever heard of resetting Charging Logic.

Does it matter what percentage your battery is at and does it work for rooted phones? Do I need to be on the stock Rom/recovery for it to work?

Sorry I'm not familiar enough with the developer side of things to tell you "it's ok" or "not".
What I can say is, the HTC tech never did ask me if my phone was fully charged or what percentage it was at. Which at the time was like 97% if I recall correctly. I am completely stock...
I would imagine this would work for rooted phones and it wouldn't matter what battery percentage but can't guarantee you...
I just wanted to come back in here and update this again. The above fix did not actually fix the phone as the problem came back again eventually. I am now on my third HTC ONE M7 and looks like I'll have to send this one back as well for the same issue.
I have a theory that it's either a problem with the OS or Light Sensor causing the screen not to turn on.
Can a mod take this thread off "fixed"
