Hello,
I want to install a new rom on my HD but failed to do so.
I got the DHD for free and at that time there was already a custom rom (android 2.2 goapk) on it. So I assume it is rooted, however checking root status with terminal emulator it says otherwise. Also all my applications that require root dont work because of permission error.
Questions:
shouldnt my HD already be rooted since there is a custom rom running on it?
Assuming its not, since all my applications that need root access wont work...
If I try to root it with visionary+ it doesnt even ask for superuser permission.
It just runs through, no error occuring, but when I check with terminal emulator "su" it says permission denied.
Does anyone know what the problem is?
Thanks in advance.
have you considered downgrading and re-rooting ?
downgrading went fine in a coulpe of mins.
could smoothly root etc. afterwards.
new rom running already.
Thanks for the advice!!! I was just not really sure what my problem was

I went through the 1 click rooting process and everything went as planned however i do not have root and am wondering why ? Do i need to start all over again ? When i go to ROM Manager>fix permissions to check if im rooted it says an error has occured while attempting to run privileged commands, instead of asking for permission.
I was having issue finding a way to unroot. I did not want to use ODIN since I did not want the bloated software. I finally found the info.

I hope that someone will put this in the notes for Unrooting. This was the only way I found to remove Superuser 3.0.7 after removing the bloat ware.
I put this info on a Text file and copied it to Terminal Emulator.
I hope this helps someone out there.
Hi,
i was using Zenprise Connect on my cyanogen and with SuperSu it was possible de desactivate root. Connect was seeing my device as not rooted.
Since the new version of Zenprise Worx it doesn't work anymore. I have tested a lot of things and Zenprise always see my device as rooted, even if i suppress all su busybox and other rooted stuff.
Is there a way to use Zenprise on a cyanogen device ? even on unrooting totaly ?
Thanks in advance

try installing xposed framework 2.4.1 from here http://repo.xposed.info/module/de.robv.android.xposed.installer, and install this module http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2574647 it hasn't been tested with all apps that require no root but it is worth a shot.
Hello,
thanks for this information, it works !!!!!
My phone has bieng acting up really weird lately, an update came out for it but ever since that update(my phone was rooted when this update took place), my apps that require root no longer work properly and superuser keeps denying every app without prompt, some apps like terminal emulator and root checker say it is not rooted even though hboot is unlocked and security is S-OFF. I can't flash roms like CWM to fix super user, and I've tried everything with super user but nothing works. I've tried everything that I've read on the forums. Please Help!!!
Sounds like you took an OTA update. Terrible idea. RUU back to stock and reroot.
So does that mean my hboot is all borked up? And if so how can I fix it?
Hi,
So for the past 2 month, I've been trying to root my r800at, but it installs superusers but it doesn't function. I can't remove the semi root, but I need to get a root. I've tried the superuser fixer, but it says everything is normal. The Root Checker app says no root and so does ROM Manager, which in this case is a dire app.
PLS HELP!
Did you really need to make another thread about this? In the wrong section?
I had hard time with finding how to root this phone but I might did this. Can you tell me if I discovered something or just really ****ed up?
I found this site. http://techglen.com/2015/02/14/how-...3-14-4-a-0-157-android-4-4-4-kitkat-firmware/
Downloaded the .ftf files. Flashed the .108 kernel and then just used the root option from flashtool. Flashed .157 back.
Everything is working. Root Checker says that I have root. I was able to hid the softkeys compeletly.
But couldn't find anyone using this method on here so.. Was I blind or just done something wrong?
People don't use your exact method , but in esence thats the way everyone roots on locked bootloader: flash an old stock kernel that is known to have a root exploit, root using that exploit(with flashtool or some other way) and after that flash the latest stock kernel that you will use. It's been this way for a long time for all the xperia devices.
Thanks for the answer. I'm so happy I finally got this phone. Been waiting for months! Earlier had to use ****Phone and even with jb it felt so bad. Maybe I'm an android fanboy. But with iOS I got that claustrophobic feel..
Even though I used the same guide and got root, the latest Root Explorer cannot seem to be able to open panel_id text file located in sys/devices/blahblah folder for example. Nor can it copy it to sdcard1. I get a message that I need root even though I've granted permissions to the app. Titanium seem to work OK. So what's the matter? Any ideas? How do I make sure I have full root access?

hey sorry been a bit off lately. download root checker app from Google play store. this should tell you if you're rooted or not. or try to use root browser app
Root Explorer eventually can have root permissions off by default.
Check it's settings.
I reflashed XZDR 2.8.3 and SuperSU 2.48 beta and everything is fine. Maybe try the same.
