Hello fellow Android users. I have a problem with my rom. Im using cm 7.1.0
Its superb. But I also love music and cyanogenmod has this problem. Its abit hard to explian it but you see I get this weird sound coming from the back. To be sure I compared the sounds of both cyanogenmod and virtuous unity. I dont see that problem in Virtuous. Ill be more than happy if you can tell me how to fix it.
Thanks Alot
You could try adjusting the settings in DSPManager.

I tried that before still getting this weird noise in songs with bass boosted
I find that it's best to leave the bass boost off when using the phone speaker, it isn't that good of a one.

I walk through really loud places on my way to work and back home, and I can hardly hear anything on my earphones (in-ear even). Either my hearing is not at all what it used to, or the volume is just too low.
Is it possible (or is there already a way) to increase the earphones volume above the current limit? (a kernel patch or whatever determines the volume limit)
I know it's a slippery slope to an impaired hearing, but I'll take my chances.

Install Android DSP
http://www.bel.fi/~alankila/android-dsp/
download the update.zip and get the apk inside and install, dunno if it works on all kernels, but works on defrost 2.9, theres a graphical equalizer and some loudness options.
+1 on this, I'd also like to see if there's anything we could do to rise earphones volume...

wow, great. considering it just updates a lib and installs an apk, should sense-based roms users fear any harm?
I will try it right now.
Feedback soon...
Edit: It does not work on nextsense 5.3...

Tried on modaco r8, didn't work (bootloop).
Hi guys,
I am running the AOKP (Build 27) and I can't seem to get Voodoo Sound Plus to work. I have been reading forums but I can't seem to find a proper fix without changing Roms. Has anyone found a fix? Or alternatively (although I am happy with AOKP) has anyone found a ROM that works with Voodoo but is as good as AOKP?
Thanks!

Afaik voodoo doesn't work with galaxy nexus.
OK i can confirm it definitely doesn't work with gnex.
Its not a wolfson amp.
Anyway the rom has nothing to do with voodoo, its the kernel.

You need to do some research man. There is no voodoo sound for the gnex on any kernel (it's kernel based btw, not ROM).
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
Okay thanks. Didn't know that the GNEX doesn't support it. Bummer. Looks like I'll still be using my Galaxy Tablet for music!
Give it a 2nd chance, I find my experience with any other Android phone horrible in terms of music saved for the Galaxy S and this one (S2 close but not as good). The included DAC of GNex is fairly good IMO, despite being not a Wolfson but TI.

You're right, it's not that bad at all. Even without Voodoo Sound I still get quite a good quality. Using Poweramp greatly increases the overall quality IMO (and I use TF10 and Westone 4R earphones with a Fiio E11 amp). I recently just installed the Franco Kernel (although I'm not sure if the Franco, Nightly or the Imoseyon is the best one out of the 3 available via the app). It has a "high performance sound" option but I haven't really tested it yet. Battery life is improved though!
Hey all,
why in any custom rom the maximum ringtones, notifications, songs, and anything that uses the phone speaker is very low you can barely hear the ringtone, the morning alarm - sometimes i miss it -, however in stock roms the sound is amazing and sometimes noisy? why guys? and any fix or a possible solution to fix this?
am running CM10 nightly BTW

I don't know if this phone is like my previous LG Optimus 2X but it also was like that, on Stock ROMS the speaker was way louder than on CyanogenMod based ROMS, try using a stock based ROM or install Volume+ from the Play Store it helps with the speaker volume. (Be careful with Volume+ and don't put the value too high or else the sound may be distorted.)
i've already tried the volume+ with no luck, i think its related to the speakers drivers in sense stock rom, and am looking for an advanced help to be brought to CM10, hope anyone from the dev team to find a real fix for this.
probably due to a proprietary driver in the tegra that is closed source... android is an open source software for closed source handset...
I recently flashed Cyanogenmod 11 onto my HTC One M8, and I'm loving the **** out of it. However, it has some flaws. As it is a nightly version, I'm totally cool with that, and I'm wiling to try and work around them. However, the speakers sound noticeably worse. At max volume they crackle like crazy and searching the settings menu, I noticed there is no "Boomsound" setting as there is in the stock OS, and in the GPE os. Just wondering if anyone has any insight, maybe a way to flash boomsound on separately, or if you think CM will add that in at a later date, or anything really. Loving this phone and OS, and I'd like to get all I can out of the awesome speakers.... thanks!

Boomsound is proprietary HTC software. It will probably never go to CM. However, there are EQ setting for any sort of effect you may want... never noticed a difference with Boomsound besides slightly louder audio. I did notice the crackling at max volume, but didn't really use speaker at max too often so it didn't bother me much.
You can always use GPe+Xposed for bugfree and customization. That's my setup.

Same issue! Such distortion!
We need to port boomsound.
I've heard of using ViPER4Android as a replacement for Boomsound, but not actually tried it myself.
After flashing CyanogenMod sound from the phone speakers are like its going to break , so distorted , vibrating , speaker side gets hot little ; any way to solve this. Please help............
Check CM12 Q&A thread. I don't have current info of this problem, but it sounds like the same audio problem that was in CM12 earlier this year. Basically the audio level is too loud so it crackles.

thanx for the reply but this problem still exists in carbon rom also ,, i flashed dolby audio and changed the speaker volume to stock the sound problem is reduced to some extent
Both those ROMs are using the same kernel so they probably share the same bugs. The audio problem is listed as a known bug in the 1st post in the Carbon thread. It also looks like the guy doing the porting has stopped working on it so I really don't know why you're wasting your time on it.
Thangs let's wait for the stable release of cm12
