R/O means read only. To delete things you want to put root explorer into R/W (Read/Write) mode

How do I use root explorer to uninstall Facebook?
I know that's probably an ultra noob question but I can't seem to find it anywhere

go to system/app/
click at the top to remount r/w
then delete the apk
set back as r/o when done
Is there a way that you can remove certain HTC Widgets from the phone to free up some of the memory? Can I use es file manager and go to /system/app and just delete apk's from there or will that cause problems? Thanks

If you've rooted, yeah you might be able to do that. I think you'd need to root to access the system files (not sure, don't know about phones just thinking logically) and then it should be possible.
Rooted - File Explorer - System mount - delete those Files with the ending widget.

Yes you can.
I would use titanium backup.
And backup before deleting so if you run into issues you can restore individual apps.
Although es file will do just fine, just make sure in the es settings to give root access and mount file system.

Sorry for bringing up an old thread but it's kinda relevant.
I tried installing a few additional widgets through HTC Hub. The downloads were successful but the install wasn't. And this took up some (large actually) amount of space off my internal.
So, what do I delete and from where to get rid of these unwanted files? I don't really care about it not being installed, just don't want it bloating up my memory space. Thanks in advance, and I apologize if this has been answered elsewhere.
I'm sorry but Bump.
Any help would be appreciated with the above issue?
They should be installed to
/system/app. if your are using apps2sd with your Rom, look under /system/sd/app. Just look for the name of the widget u downloaded and delete it from there. I use es file explorer. U must go into its settings and allow root explorer and mount, to be able to do this. Also try wiping your dalvik cache in cwm.

I have a Soundboard I dl'ed, I need to know where it gets saved (installed). Because I want to pull the sound clips from it.

Should be data/app

I should be able to get the audio clips from there true?

If the sound clips are part of the app, you should be able to extract the apk and find the sound files inside. They will probably be in ogg format if they aren't in a format that only the app can read. If you can't find the sound files, check in /data/data/com.processname.ofapp. They may be cached in a format that you can play with a normal media player.
If all of those fail, check your SD card. Some sound board apps allow you to set the sounds as ringtones or notification sounds. If this app allows you to do so, it will probably write the files to your SD, either in the "media" folder on your SD card or in /sdcard/Android/data/com.processname. Check the Android/data folder even if you can't set the sounds as ringtones, you might luck out.
Hope you find what you're looking for. If you can't, send me a pm with a link to the app and I'll try to get them for you.
When I get the apk from the market, where does it go once its installed? I can find all this crap in a computer but can't seem to find it on android

You have to be rooted and be using a root enabled file explorer. The apk is in /data/app. I use Root Explorer, but there are free ones available. Rom Toolbox comes with one. If you aren't rooted or just find it to be a pain, download Astro and use the function to backup the app. The apk will then be stored wherever Astro puts the backups - you should be able to find it on your SD card. You can then extract the apk and hopefully find the files. If the apk is protected, you will need root and a root file explorer to get the apk. If protected (you'll be able to tell because Astro won't let you back it up), the apk will be stored in /data/app-private. Remember that we're on internal storage, not the SD card.
If you can't get it, just send me a message and I'll try to do it for you.

/data/app [on the phone]
/sdcard/Android/data
/sdcard/data

In addition to what plainjane has said, es file explorer works great, and free. Has a simple clean UI with it as well.
I am rooted and use es file explorer. I did a couple searches and found nothing. I'm gonna try the backup and then look

This may sound dumb but I cannot find where the phone is installing the apps. I'm just trying to restore manually some things related to the Zedge app but cannot find the folder. I am not rooted yet but I should be able to see the app folder right?
It's /data/app like any android phone. Not sure if you will be able to access that partition unless you are rooted.
Ok that folder shows up empty. Must need root then to view it. Ty

In the future, all your user apps will 99% of the time be in that folder.
