why is everyone so protective of it, ive seen numerous posts on this site with people claiming they have it yet noone wants to give it up. it'd be greatly appreaciated i mean we are all here for the same reason, to help eachother out.

just because someone has it, it doesnt mean they are going to freely give it out to anyone. It's not being rude, just selective. For example, if I had this game. I would only give it out to other people that have contributed to this site, not just a bunch of leechers that gain info or software and have nothing reciprocating to offer. And secondly it would be via PM or other communication ways. Not posted publicly on this site (which is against site rules)
Put it this way.... i'm not going to tell you where ( again against site rules) but there IS a site that has this app posted ( cTacked version) but you will need to find out where it is posted for yourself.

Quite true, but isnt distributing edited versions of Windows Mobile O/S.
I am not complaining btw without Kavana and Rickys WM6.1 i would be stuck with BT Bloatware.

its really not that great. i was able to nail every song on the highest settings with little effort. its mainly good to just show off. plus you need a good interneet connection to get the songs

I'm not a leecher. Never asked for a damned bit of your warez (I always hated the whole fake-music genre of games), but it seems like I hit a nerve with that comment. Guess if you have it, you're a leecher.
All I was saying is that having something like guitar hero makes certain people feel special...because they have it and others don't. If they let it out too liberally, just like the child in the schoolyard, they're not special anymore because everybody is the same again. They lose the "look what I got and you don't" shine.
It's a nasty attitude and shows that people really don't grow up. If you don't want to give it out, you really don't have to say anything at all. But it's the schoolboy in you that has to yell "MINE!"
To the original poster, Guitar Hero III mobile is available online. T-Mobile has it in their downloads as well. And I'm not sure who told you we're all here for the same reason: to help each other out. There are quite a lot of people here who feel they're at some elite status and can't be bothered with people who are where they were, say, ten months ago.

problem is, that most people dont contribute to this site ( or at least this forum) they sit here asking all sorts of questions, but never offer any help to others. Im not an eliteist.... i did what most techy type guys most like did when they first got their phones, they dabbled with it, figured crap out for themselves, and when they didnt, they found the almightly google for help. Once they started to put 2 & 2 together with what their phone could and couldnt do, they started offering help to others, and i stress help. Help is not giving out software that they have and saying: " here ya go! " help is actually resolving someone elses problem. and i hardly think that a software request is a problem. For those certain individuals that i've seen on this site actuall make a signifigant contribution to help others that are in need, when they've hit me up for software, i've always hooked them up, but for the ones that "hit & run" and have not had anything to offer to date, i dont give them anything. (and i stress give). its not like im going to be seeing these people on what you call the schoolgrounds anytime soon and i dont really care how many people have the same software i have. i do feel that some deserve it and some dont , based on their merit. simply googling guitar hero III and finding a thread in this forum, finding out that there is a guitar hero III for the mobile phone and then requesting it is not contributing anything in any way. ( BTW i've been with this forum since nov of 2006 and have had a smartphone since WM2003 so i dont know where you are getting your 10 months ago figure)

Nah, dude, that wasn't meant as a slight to you. I can't disagree with anything you wrote. I'm fairly new here myself (though I've had a smartphone since I had WM2003 on my Samsung SCH-i600 with Verizon). I joined it because it's a relatively well-respected forum in the smartphone community and a place that everyone asking questions elsewhere is sent to.
The problem is this forum just lacks moderation and organization. Being new here, I feel sorry for people just showing up and having to dive through this mess. Yes, a lot of questions get repeated. But it's fiendishly easy to say "justfuckinggoogleit.com" to the point that over 80% of a user's posts reflect that..again, without giving any real help. It makes the community look bad as a whole. That's what pisses me off.
I think being called a leech kinda set me off, too, since there's nothing on my phone (except the ROM) that's not either bought-and-paid-for or freeware.

ZOMG!!! when your first reaction to an issue you have with your phone is to post it in a new thread....you dont deserve help. how about doing some of the legwork yourself instead of posting "i NEED a step by step set of instructions blah blah blah". what you NEED is a kick in the nuts.
and if you really feel that by us saying "go do a search the topic has been discussed 4500000 times" makes the community look bad.....how does the community look when you have a bunch of posts by people with 2 post to date, asking all the same questions as eachother? i think its retarded that some senior users actually have to use their signatures to list step by step instructions for some of the most talked about topics, just so they dont have to type it for the 10000th time. hows that make our community look? makes it look like there are a handful of people that know what they are doing and it makes the rest look like a buncha n00b tards that are leading eachother down the stupid trail.

[Q] Help rooting Evo4G (Supersonic) with Gingerbread

Hey guys, been looking and tinkering all day with this. Just got a new Evo 4G that came with Gingerbread on it. rEVOked doesn't work on it to root it and I cannot seem to roll it back with an RUU.
Phone Stats:
Android 2.3.3
Baseband 2.15.00.05.02
Build 4.24.651.1 CL61076
Software 4.24.651.1
Any idea what I need to do to root it? Even if I could find a shell process to root and load Clockwork I'd be happy.
Thanks in advance for any help you guys might have for me.

Thanks for that I did search, I've been searching on here, androidcentral, cyanogenmod, xda, google, rEVOked, etc. I have seen some people be able to roll back the RUU but I've had no luck, that's why I posted the question. I understand the search functions on forums, but haven't found a definitive answer. Apparently though, there is no root for devices with 2.3.3? or just the Evo?

The lucky ones that were able to downgrade with an older ruu already have s off. But I know its not just EVO 4G its other devices as well. The sensation just recently hot s off if I'm not mistaken.

I know you 'claim' to have done a search, but there is no WAY you would have posted this if you did, because you would KNOW that it cannot be rooted. This reminds me of the guy that lied to Chef Ramsey on Hell's Kitchen last night....

You guys are totally right. I'm just some idiot that doesn't deserve to be on here. Even after the hours of my attempts and searching and trying today and then posting a question after everything I've done didn't work... despite seeing some people able to roll back the RUU and then root it. I have no idea why I even attempt to get help. There is always someone who wants to jump in someone's **** for asking a question. I wouldn't have asked if I knew definitively that there was no way to do it. I figured I was in the right area to ask if anyone knew any tricks for this, but apparently I was wrong to ask a question at all.

You asked a question that has been asked and answered 100's of times on here. If you truly did a search, which I do NOT believe you did, you would have seen it said, over and over and over and over again that there is no way to root your phone with the version of Android you have. There is no mistaking it, no gray area, no maybes. It's been definitely posted in onther posts RIGHT ON THE FRONT PAGE, there is no root.

"Hours" of searching, huh? You seriously deserve the crap you've taken. There are even countless posts about attempts to downgrade the RUU. I suggest you actually search next time, instead of lying about it.

just to test a theory i pretended i was newbie coming here to find 2.3.3 root
so i typed "2.3.3 root" on the search box...
that turned about 10 threads in wich any i could easily see that there is still no exploit / root for 2.3.3
now , notice i am not being an ass about it, but its as simple as that bro, if you dont want to put in a wee bit of effort on finding the answers , dont expect people to put in effort to try to answer them either, that is being selfish
but i hope your question is now answered, trust me , you WILL see stickies , you WILL know when root is achieved if you just chek in these forums every couple of days, but for now, dont be suprised if people get mad at you for wasting their time answering stuff that has already been answered a thousand times for the last month

Just gotta say there is a new thread like this every stinking day, sometimes 2 or 3. Any research or just plain looking thru a few threads would have answered your questions.

It took me a whole 3 minutes tops, because I know how to use the SEARCH button. and I can't SPAM a USELESS thread, this will be deleted once you waste a Mods time and they get around to it.

I may not be getting OTA in my location. So I went fishing and came across this.

They claim it is the same as the OTA but since it can be RUU'ed will work on all phones, incl. those with modification to the ROM.
Has anybody tried this one? Also, since I have never gone the RUU route some additional instructions will be most welcome.

If you are not s off, just flash it. If it has been tampered with than the update should fail. It isn't todays ota though, it is the one from a few weeks ago.

Presumably the flashing involved copying the file (with changed name) to SD card root. Remove the USB cable and then do <volume down> + <power>. I hope the follow up is pretty simple and straight forward. I do not have much Android experience.

After I "Browse my computer for driver software" I cant find "USBFlash_driver"
I have downloaded the file... I can open it..... but do I have to shift it somewhere after I download it?

Been through all that stuff already...
As I have said before... why go to all the bother of posting the same stuff again and again?
I have spent the last 3 weeks looking around from site to site picking up bits here and there then eventually back to where I have started... albeit a little bit wiser...
I'm obviously missing something here...
Replying with this is as bad as spam.!... I have seen it on umpteen posts, over and over again, like a broken record.
If I had spent more time on the zx spectrum and the bbc which we had in 5th year before i left school I would not need to come on to this site..ha ha. but as we were not as lucky as you lot help is something that is greatly appreciated!
Rather than gloating how good I was, I would be coming on here to help rather than to belittle... otherwise what is the point of being a senior member with all this knowledge.
But this is something that comes with age... As we get older we realise....
Some day you will look back at yourself and think to yourself.
You will remember this post or some other that someone will surely post when frustrated with replys like this.

Read why you get short answers, because your lengthy reply clearly shows you haven't, and give the video another watch too, then you might understand why your thread about an existing thread is highly annoying.

Quite a few take the hint and grasp the point of XDA, then you get People like yourself who don't, and if you can't follow a simple tutorial that even has pictures, then you might as well give up.

As you can clearly see I've had quite a few.

Now you see how short a life you have had, when you have to use other peoples words...
And as for grasping things...The point...
Follow a simple thing and get so far and thats it..
Point.. We are here to learn, not just to have a phone... better than everyone else!!!
I, believe it or not am trying to learn but that is why we ask questions, albeit, stupid ones to you lot in the know!
Even the best of us will have to eventually ask a stupid question... It comes to us all... you will remember this!
You are so much in the know, then answer the question that I started with...
As most of the people that get through this initial test seem to be more helpful..
Maybe one day I will be able to help someone new as there will always be
And be a bit more constructive.

Try putting the same energy in to re reading the guide as you do with these argumentative posts and you might get somewhere.

Looking at these posts I can see and have learnt quite a lot actually...
It dosent take a lot to work out that if one neewbe gives you 10 thanks, as I have, for thinking and being polite that somebody actually replied,
do a bit of multiplication and you soon realise... 900 thanks doesnt actually say a lot....
especially if what you are sending people work done by somebody else....
I, after 3 weeks could go from page to page looking for newbees and feed them this stuff... the same stuff over and over again.
Since all you are doing is this, can, as I see, you never seem to answer any questions directly.
Which to me implys that you are no better than us newbees really.... unless you can prove otherwise... but I very much doubt.

I've been directly helping People since I owned an X10, but as you're new you won't know that, you also don't have access to my PM's, so don't see the lengths I've gone to in them to help.

Some People can't be helped, and you're a prime example of that. I see why People could get confused with a text guide, but when it's got images too and People still can't grasp it, well.

did you have any luck … I’m having the same issue…. and as far as the senior advisor that chooses to mock people that are seeking help… well that is just childish and unworthy of his title here… I thought this was a help community…. Very disappointed.

One you replied and disappointed by a very old post.
Two if you search you will find the root method right here that works on all versions, we don't like to spoon feed , when you have problem or stuck many will help, you ask how to do something that has been asked 100 times and already available, well you asked for it.
Three learn how to ask help, simply writing can someone point me to the root post will make many to post, instead of you writing all this useless crap.

no worries mate, I’m not one to be spoon fed. I can handle my queries. I think the dignified way to have done things would have been to post a link with to the proper direction. like this

I actually found the info I was looking for shortly after I posted the original response… I hope you understand that I was not directing anything at you. I dont get why you are taking offense to the post as it was not meant for you.

I did that because you pointed towards kimitza, now he might not be correct all the time, his answers might be rude, but he is the one answering most of the queries here, plus don't know how many private messages he might be getting.
Think this way, if i talk about me, I'm here for 4 years answering same type of questions for different devices all those years, and i usually jump in the post if some one didn't replied for some time, instead some people will post to every question when they see it, they are bound to get agitated over time.
