Temple run! - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Is there any game that plays like temple run in the market?
GalaXy S ll @ 1200x720 ;D

"Run Like Hell" is the same game, it looks like, except it's in 2d, not 3:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.masscreation.rlh
Also, I'd recommend Diversion, which has similar gameplay, but is just a much better game overall, IMHO:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.ezone.Diversion
Lastly, the company that makes "Temple Run, says it's coming to Android soon, (but the fact that they have put up ads asking for coding help:
http://www.anddev.org/jobs-teams-f24/port-temple-run-from-ios-to-android-t56108.html
would make me more than a little concerned, if this was a game I was waiting for.)
I'd just give the other two a shot, honestly.

[Q] The Galaxy Nexus's GPU is not that bad

People were saying the GPU in the GN was just terrible but its not that bad and should last me the year or two i will have it. However if i get bored ill overclock and throw chainfire 3d on it till what ever the latest and greatest is out.
Here are the Benchmarks
Games played are HD
Riptide
9mm
Shadow Gun
Samurai II Vengeance
Asphalt 6 Adrenaline
Need for speed shift
n64oid test and more games
Note: i got mine imported(its actually pre released) running on T-Mobile dumped the forgotten Mytouch 3g fender 1.2 version for it. Coming from that and the g1 this is the snappiest device i have ever owned running android. I didn't care all about GPU because ill be doing most of my mobile gaming on the PSV anyways.
It's a pain that new games like Riptide (or any Gameloft title) don't work, ...but it plays N64 and PS1 games perfectly.
It'll be interesting to see SG2 benchmarks when the official ICS update is out.
A guy with a lot more technical knowhow than me describes some of it here

The Galaxy Nexus has to run most apps in compatibility mode because they do not support ICS yet but, it has given me a great experience so far. Somethings telling me the sgs2 is going to slow down a bit when it gets the upgrade not because of hardware because of the new touchwiz coming with it.
We will have to see!

Games on the Galaxy Nexus [VIDEO]

It handles quite good and the phone didn't get that hot.
Hah.. It's not about me it's about you and showing you these games.

looks smooth - well impressed
now get a list of the best games and apps together
really really good
All I'm worried about is that the next gen games won't work well with the Galaxy Nexus. These games look great, but with Apple and other companies (e.g Samsung) pushing mobile gaming, and the new mobile GPU's that are coming out, ours is already obsoleted and probably won't be good enough to play a lot of games in the future

From what I've seen, gaming on the "higher end" phones simply just add useless eye candy and don't effect overall game play at all. I love eye candy, don't get me wrong, but I don't fear that we'll be left out in the cold.
With Quad-Core not even out yet, I don't think we'll be seeing anything that requires a "Quad-Core or higher" for a long time.
I also just noticed how the software buttons rotate depending on orientation. Life's simple joy!
Forgive me for not being so knowledgeable on technology, but I would be mistaken in thinking that even if Quad-Core is released, most phones won't even be able to utilise it properly for a good year or two? And by the time they are put to good use, all our Galaxy Nexus contracts will be up and we'll be eligible for an upgrade and we'll be hopping on the newest Nexus?
So quad-core doesn't even matter for a while even if they are being released next year?
Back on topic the phone looks insanely smooth, even when you had all them games open it was silky! I'm loving it a lot, getting it tomorrow
could you test the kairosoft games? like game dev story and the others?
on honeycomb if you used mulittouch zooming all their apps crashed. kinda worried it may be the same with the GNex.
The screen is good but until the games are updated 'proper' we will not know how good performance can really be.
The screen is really good.
I read on another thread that Gameloft games will not work on the Nexus, is that true?
Edit: Nevermind, I just saw the video and he plays 9mm

Exactly my thoughts. For example on mine Plants v. Zombies looks great and works great for a few minutes, then freezes when under heavy load (i.e. "Final Wave" pushes). It can't be the GPU or memory issues because other (just as graphically heavy- if not more so) games (like Tiki Golf 2) are perfect.
I just want to clarify how good that first game is?
Check out the Verge's Transformer Prime review http://www.theverge.com/2011/12/1/2601558/asus-eee-pad-transformer-prime-review
They play the game and attach it to a 52" HD screen!

[Q] Little to no games, old phone? Should I get this?

I'm just considering my options.
I am a gamer. But from what I see on Wikipedia, the game base for this is very limited with crap ps1 games like jumping flash.... ammi rite?
Considering this vs. the new HTC One X.
Is there a successor to this phone coming soon?
Trying to get caught up on this model and series...
I see now, 228 games listed in the other forum.
Though, I was hoping for some quality PS1 games at least.
It would be sweet to be able to play my PSN purchased ps1 games or ps2 games. Final Fantasy 7,8,9,10 Silent Hills, Resident Evils, etc...
=(
Well you can also install emulators for other consoles.
And FPSE is is good for all your PS1 games.
I and one other person are also working on getting PSXPeria working again as alot of people are having problems. Which lets you play PS1 games on the native Xperia Play emulator for better compatibility. We're almost there. Once we're both tested it, I'll make a thread for it with detailed instructions.
Xperia Play is a great phone and gaming device. Can emulator the other consoles, so really the gamebase is HUGE.

If your a gamer get the Xperia Play. It's cheaper and it's an all rounder. Loads of games on it as well.
Oh and Sonic 4 Episode 2 will be coming out on it as well sweet ! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1521835
With the release of the Playstation Suite in April (probably along with our ICS update) we should hopefully see an increase in good quality games

Spot on
I guess you should evaluate it from every angle.
Unfortunately, I think Xperia Play is already at the end of its support life. Probably from 2013 on we'll have almost no support, and I'm kinda willing to bet there'll be no official Jelly Bean for us (though we have a great team here at xda that surely will make it work for us) while HTC One X will probably receive support til 2014.
Besides, the hardware on One X seems better from the spec sheet.
On the other hand, Xperia Play works very well for the daily use and have this amazing touchpad that I love. Until it starts to be too laggy to work on a daily basis, I'm not willing to exchange it for any other device.
So, it's really your call and priorities. We'll be waiting you to join us!

first android user - recommend me some games!

price is not an issue
coming from an iphone, i want some games that are "new" or "unique" or that can show off what it can do. what i don't want is people saying like angry birds or words with friends or stuff like that. i am interested to see the possibilities of this bigger screen and faster hardware
shadowgun & need for speed hot pursuit have some of the best graphics out there

Modern Combat 3 ore Shadowgun are Great games
I'd definately recommend Riptide
+1 for Riptide ;D
Welcome to Android. I don't mean to burst your bubble but gaming experience isn't quite up to par as iOS yet. Its getting better with the release of games like Temple Run and some of the other 3D games mentioned above. Also better hardware won't do much. Games are far better optimized for iOS so its a smoother experience. The bigger screen is really the only advantage here.

If you really want to show off this phone, start looking into rooting and installing custom ROMS. You can boost performance greatly and can install Google Wallet and when you go to McDonalds you can pay with your phone and your iPhone buddies will be like "WTF!?!?!, daz sooo kewl!" Also, try installing a new launcher such as Apex Launcher or Nova Launcher. You will be able to show off how you can customize your device which is really the high point of Android.

I just downloaded Slice It, and it is AMAZING. Literally the first game I can spend an hour on and not get bored out of my mind.
Simple premise, beautiful execution, hundreds of levels, and its FREE.

How is that relevant? Sure, the iphone has MORE games, but you can't say that the experience is better or worse. I don't understand where people come up with this 'smoother experience' type language. Haven't played a game on the phone yet that lags or stutters. And I'll take an extra inch of screen space ANY day of the week.

What do you mean how is it relevant? iOS is better for gaming regardless of screen size. I'm not afraid to tell the truth and its apparent you've never used an iPhone for more than 10 minutes yet you're probably the one telling iOS fanboys that they've never used Android for more than 10 minutes. iOS is smoother on everything not because its better but because its coded using native code just like WP7. Games, Apps, Web are all much more consistent with the UI and achieve higher frame rates. Yeah, I don't get lag on my games either but that doesn't mean its just as smooth. There's no arguing that. Instead of trying to cast aside the problem, why don't you acknowledge it and perhaps help to make it better.

how about like just overall fun small addicting games (not necessarily high graphics)

Cut the Rope, World of Goo and Cordy and Cordy Sky are also pretty nice.
OK this isn't new but I love it http://www.paulscode.com/forum/inde...2bc50b05ad89045ea55e&topic=96.msg2243#msg2243 you will find the games with a bit of Googling, I'm loving golden eye .... takes me back!!
Fun Games
I'm seeing lots of, "this game looks fancy", and not much "this game is great fun". So I'm rolling some out, these are all 2D, but damn fun!
Osmos
Droptrix
World of Goo
Refraction
Sprinkle
Swerve and Destroy
Canabalt
I highly recommend the following games, all look fantastic on the Galaxy Nexus epic screen!
Dead Space
Grand Theft Auto III
Great Little War Game
Fieldrunners HD
Reckless Racing
Spirit HD
Flick Golf
Game Dev Story
Pocket League Story
Jelly Defence
Pool Bar HD
Battleheart
Zen Bound 2
Tetris
Worms
Cut the Rope
Enjoy!
I am not a big fan of FPS games on handhelds, they usually have clumsy controls, the aiming is heavily assisted, etc.
Canabalt HD (IMHO one of the best side-scroller, might get multiplayer mode)
Radiant Defence (new tower defense game with a slight twist)
Robodefense (my favorite conventional tower defense game)
Sentinel (a graphically beefed up tower defense game)
Asphalt 6 (arcade racing, multiplayer is nice)
Flight Control, Angry Birds, Cut the Rope (if you are into ultra-casual gaming)
HomeRun Battle (nice baseball game, addictive multiplayer)
Obviously these are all personal preferrences
Temple Run! Most addictive!
You must try this.
Where's my water? It's good too although it's 2D.
Fruit Ninja - Puss in Boots!
It's 3D!
Graphics should be quite nice.
Fruit Ninja v1.74(or higher, or prepare for ugly graphics)!
Real Racing 2 (works on GN, isn't compatible in market tho - you need to fix that yourself)
Aftermath XHD
Anomaly HD
Dead Space
Modern Combat 3
Spectral Souls.

Best games (or other apps) to show off Nexus 7?

Hello all,
what games (or other apps) would you recommend to show off the superb graphics and processor capabilities of the Nexus 7?
Is there anything that is optimized for the Nexus 7 screen and processors?
Thank you all for your suggestions!
Dead Trigger works very well for me. Puddle also works for the Tegra 3 optimization
here's the Free version thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1811437
i've posted there already.
here's additional ones that are not free:
Asphalt 7
Samurai II: Vengeance
Riptide GP
Sprinkle
ShadowGun THD
World of Goo
Jelly Defense
REAL RACING 2 currently 99c! Definitely great game.
Here's another,
Dark meadow, point and click adventure
Take up about 1.37GB though

I think Riptide GP, a game with Tegra enhancements, is impressive and is easy to hand over to anyone and have them get into it right away.
For apps, I guess Google Earth would knock Grandma's socks off .
Cs portable and whale trail. These are not tegra optimized, but there is no doubt that they look great. I am addicted to cs portable and would love to know what drugs the devs of whale trail where on when they created that gane. Must of been shrooms or sumin.

Some advice from me would be to stay away from gameloft for now. They have a funny way of creating games. Dont get me wrong there games are great but there just not that good on our nexus 7. If you are gong to buy a gameloft game make sure you read the description to see if its tegra 3 optimized or any mention of the nexus 7. If not then dont buy the game. The only acception i can give you is modern combat 3 and nova 3. Nova 3 is a bit so so, while mc3 plays great.
Dont get asphalt 7 until you see a update in the play store. Right now it is on version 1.0.0. I have it myself and it is not optimized the way it should be (ie: bad graphics and low frame rate).
Just be careful as to what you buy as the nexus is new device and you can very easily be disapointed as many games need to b updted.
