Notification LED not working? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

At first, my notification LED was not working at all. I activated the option in the settings menu but no missed call or missed text would trigger it.
Now I downloaded the app "Light Flow" and now I get the notification light but it remains unreliable - sometimes it works fine, sometimes it still doesn't light up even though I have a text waiting.
Any ideas? I googled around and others seem to have the same issue...

My notification light seems to be working out of the box without any app. Gmail, Google voice, and text messages using handcent all blink different colors just fine.

[Q] Notification Light Issue [SOLVED]

Hello everyone,
I recently got a nexus and love it. Just one thing that I can't quite figure out is the notification light. Is it supposed to come on, when you have a text, email and notification from an app? I have it activated in settings but it doesn't seem to be coming on when I have a notification. Any ideas or special settings I should be aware of?
BIG THANKS IN ADVANCE!
When I'm charging my device, or if I receive a message my led lights up. I have light flow installed though. Didn't set up anything in my rom control settings.
Also when you receive a message do you check it right away or let it sit? If I check my message right away it doesn't come up if my phone is idle it flashes as a reminder.

Thanks, I can try that program. But isn't it supposed to show the notifications on its own? It did light up ONE time when I got an email. I'm on stock 4.0.2.
* Lightflow seemed to correct the problem. THANKS!
the built in notification is a fail. all the apps have their own settings which is why some pulse and some dont. Just download light flow..more control as to colour and pulse time and speed and such.
I dont use any app and my light works fine. Text blinks blue using handcent, google voice blinks green, gmail blinks white.
I believe the led can be configured by any app if the dev codes it in, but google did not give us control of it, instead letting devs handle it. Cyanogen surely will have built in controls.

[Q] Handcent & Jelly - Notification LED

I have a strange issue with Handcent SMS after flashing Jelly Bean
The notification LED turns blue whenever the screen is off or is showing the lockscreen.
As soon as i unlock the GNex, the notification LED turns off.
The problem disappears if i uninstall Handcent and reappears on reinstall.
Has anyone else experienced this or have any idea how to fix it?

Its suppose to do that.... its the apps secondary notification.
Go into settings for handcent and find notification, notification settings, LED settings

Yeah, but only when i have an unread text, and stays on even if the phone is unlocked.
The issue i'm having is there even when there is no unread texts

help, lightflow + go sms...not getting led sms notifications :(

I've been using lightflow since I got my galaxy nexus. I like the ability to use different colors for different app notifications. Well I installed go SMS because I like the different skins and ways you can customize it. I guess lightflow doesn't support this app, but go sms has in app notification LED settings. However they don't seem to work, they've worked on phones I've owned in the past. I'm guessing lightflow is blocking it. Does anyone know any way around this? Is there a similar texting app that has customization that works with lightflow?
Did you try checking the boxes within light flow, notifications , sms for alternate on/off monitoring?
Do u have enable led in go SMS settings?

This was confusing because light flow says to disable notifications in go sms if you want notifications to work. But when I did that I got no notifications at all. I tried all combinations of alternate on/off and no luck.
After trying all combinations of settings, this is how I eventually got it to work:
In Go SMS I have notifications set to on and have the LED set to green.
In light flow I have the sms notifications set to on, alternate on checked, and alternate off checked, and the LED set to green.
I restarted the phone several times before this worked.
Hopefully this will help anyone else who has this problem in the future :good:

Notification LED doesn't stay on?

I realised that when there's a notification, eg SMS, the LED notification goes off after a few seconds. This is horrible, cause most of the time I will glance at the LED to check if there are notifications for me before turning it on, and now I can't do that. Is there any way to make the notifications stay on permanently until you have cleared it?
I'm pretty sure there's apps in the Play Store that will fix this for you
I use mysms and that one can change LED color and time. But then you use mysms instead of LGs sms app. Mysms is like a sms cloud app so you can read and send your sms from computer or tablet.

Which sms app or how to set stock ?

Hi,
Im looking for any way to set phone flashlight notification for unread sms/ call, etc. I really like flashlight notification but i would like also for unread. Very often im no able too see/hear phone ringing. Front LED notification is too small too see from distance and flashlight would be perfect. I tried to find option in stock sms which is best for me but cant find. Also tried few sms apps which doesnt have this option.
Do you know any way to set flashlight notification for unread .. ?
You could try Tasker to turn on the camera flash when you get a notification.
