Backlights buttons - system files - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Where can I found system files to power lights of backlights (home, menu, back, serach)? I have rcmix3d and the lights are too bright.
Can I change it, by replace this files from other rom?

Been thinking of the same thing... The deal is that in AOSP roms, when changing the brighteness, it changes the bightness of the backlights... But in sense roms, the lights are fixed
Please help us!

In all custom roms on DZ the bright was good. But in rcmix3d is too much. I tested virtuous, miui etc. and backlight was good. I don't now what to do, because rom is great, but that's bothers me.

Had the same problem, but since I flashed RCMix v12 kernel it seems to be fixed.

new to the galaxy sII have a few questions

First off I was looking at rooms and noticed there are no Android 4.0 roms??? That are stable?
Aosp roms? Or tw 4.0?
We have both roms. And both do have bugs
Before you ask search
Like he said we do have 4.0.3. Check the development thread to see what's out there. The closest to stable is raverx black edition which is touch wiz based but you can always use apex launcher if you want an asop experience. Raver also has asop almost completed but alas the ics roms we do have out are a bit buggy but some can be daily drivers. Either way, nandroid backup and try em out till you find what's good for you cheers!

i'm running ics megamix with apex launcher and it's been pretty stable.
raver's black edition had a lot fcs for me and really wasn't good enough for dd.
and racing's was good, but i only ran the original (with the reboot/shutdown bug).
but as far as i can tell, they really are all about the same, just with different levels of debloating (which raver's has the least bloat, but i think that led to some of the instability i encountered) and some different bootanimations/theme tweaks.
the main bugs are autorotate is broken and some people have call echo, but i haven't experienced call echo on any that i've ran.
There is a stock rom ported from at & ts sgs2 ics update. That's as close as you get to official for us. There's only one bug the rotation is whack and it's full of atts bloat other then that it's good.

My last question is I know it doesn't have a notification light and I read somewhere that there is a way to make the capactive buttons (the ones on the bottom menu home etc) light up instead

the most common i've seen is called bln, stands for backlight notification (i'm pretty sure there are others, too, but i'm not familiar with them). you need a compatible kernel, though, and so i don't think any of the ics can support it yet.

There's an app called BLN Control in the Market too.

Not really a actually ics ROM for the 989 I dont think. But official one will drop soon so id just flash darksides ROM or Mr x if your Telus. I use golauncher with a ics theme and it looks alot like it.

The kernel in the ROM must support BLN for it to work. There is another app on the market that will work on any ROM. It is called NoLED. It does not use the capacitive buttons but will show a light or if configured an icon on your screen even when screen is off for any apps you choose for it to manage. it will use separate icons for phone, sms, etc... so you know what you missed instead of just the lights like with BLN.

[APP][10/11] Capacitive Button Brightness v1.0.3

This small application allows you to change the brightness of the capacitive buttons (back, home, and recent tasks) on the HTC One X. Root is required in order for this application to work. This application works on any ROM, including CleanROM, ViperXL, Cyanogenmod, AOKP, and MIUI.
Changes in Current Version
Code:
Brightness setting now sticks across reboots
Frequently Asked Questions
Which brightness setting is "stock"?
It depends. On Sense based ROMs (eg. CleanROM, ViperXL) "Bright" seems to be the default. On AOSP-based ROMs (eg. CM10, AOKP) "Dim" seems to be the default. It all depends on how/if the ROM maintainer tweaked the default setting. The "default default" (ie. if you RUU to stock) setting is "bright".

How do I get back to the default setting?
The most reliable way is to disable setting brightness on reboot and then simply reboot. Or, you can just set the brightness setting that is the default.

What happens if I uninstall the app?
Nothing. Well, it doesn't change the brightness setting if that's what you're wondering. After a reboot, though, the brightness setting will revert back to the ROM's default setting.

Known Issues
no visual indication when buttons on the ui are pressed (other than the capacitive button brightness changing)
ui button images are scaled up and look at bit pixelated
awful error message displayed if not rooted; should instead say a message like "you are not rooted... sucka"

Dont forget to say Thanks !!
Thank you for this app!
But I have a problem with my capacitive buttons, impossible to dim them, I tried all the available mods/apps but no luck.. I only can switch them off and when I install this app and touch one of the 3 icons nothing happens..
Please if someone encounter the same problem post here so that we can help each other..
And sorry for my english
Regards
Unfortunately your app doesn't work on my One X running ViperX 2.71.
After I push the buttons in your app, it asks for root, but after that nothing happens.
Button lights don't dim or disable.
The flashable mod on which you built your app does work, so I dimmed the buttons using the mod.
:good: Good luck with the further development of this app! :good:
Dont work on my one x with CM10 101012
But thank you for your work !
Same here...
Doesn't work on ARHD 11.0
v1.0.3 of the app did not support the International One X (endeavoru). I am the original author of the app and just added support for the International One X in v1.0.6. See this new thread, if interested: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2033973. It actually works on your device now
OP: If you read this, could you change the title of this thread so that it doesn't get confused with the official thread? Also, could you edit the OP to link to the real thread right at the top? Thanks for promoting my app, but unfortunately it did not work on this device when you created the thread. I don't want people to see this thread first and give up right away when v1.0.3 doesn't work. Thanks!

my 3G always stopping:crying:
ive used this rom before on my droid incredible 2 and have never came across that issue. but it sounds like you need to tweak your lcd density. i believe to do this its under performance in the settings. either that or you may need to check your backlight settings sometimes it can be a sensor thing if you have it set to auto backlight. hope this helps and if so click thanks please

Capacitive Touch keys don't vibrate

I flashed the LIQUIDSMOOTH JellyBean Rom for my Captivate Glide. Everything is awesome and perfect, everything works, it's nice and smooth, except one thing...The capacitive touch keys won't vibrate. I'm sure it's something dumb, like a setting i didn't see. I'm on AT&T.
I've never used that ROM ,but it probably doesn't support vibration on touch.
I had that problem when I used CM 10.1,only difference was it vibrated too hard on touch!
If you wish a Jelly Bean ROM, I recommend CM 10.1.3 from bubor, it was the latest and it is almost perfect as a ROM on our Glide can be. One can find a checkbox for button vibration in this ROM in Settings - Sound.
You also can try CM 11 (KitKat, 4.4.2, also by bubor), with this ROM you can customize the power of vibration in Settings - More...

[Q] stock kernel with BLN

Hi
I saw a topic in pico section and it just had a briliant idea about backlights !!
I was thinking if this device could have one too?? Wouldn't it b e great?
So i'm asking if anyone can do it, or at leat help me do so
And another question, will this feature lessen the stablity of the stock kernel??

BLN means Backlight Notification
this phone doesn't have Notification LED so this feature enables your phone to turn on the Backlight of 2 hardware keys so it kinda replaces LED
i saw it in pico section, wondered maybe theres one for this phone too!!??!
