Sorry if this has bin discussed before but I didn't found anything... I'm searching for something to block certain apps from connecting to the internet while letting others do so...
Cheers!

Use droidwall http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=541380
You will need root though.

I'm looking for an app that will make another app think my phone doesn't have an Internet connection. Is there such a thing?

Only if you're rooted.
DroidWall or AFWall can block network connections. They both use the kernel's iptables firewall to block connections. Both are excellent (and free!) apps, but DroidWall isn't maintained anymore.
If you don't want an app to be able to check if you're connected at all (I'm not sure what purpose that would serve), you might check out PDroid. It lets you tell all sorts of lies to apps. Of course, it requires ROM support. If you have to ask, your ROM doesn't support it .

Hey guys I just updated to xxdmc3 and it seems like all ad blocking programs aren't working properly
Is anyone else experiencing the same issue?

Google repaired what they call a flaw and they locked the proxy access (or something) and AbBlock doesn't work anymore. There seems to be some work around but quite complicated...
Send from my GNote 2 what else...
Funny, I had AdBlock and it didn't work at all, I was wondering why. But now I installed adaway and I think it works, I haven't seen an ad since I installed it?
Adaway works like a charm

I installed adaway however I'm still getting ads maybe because I'm on 3g,
But used to I could browse on 3g and there were no ads

Install an AdAway, install AdAway base form AdAway app and reboot! It works! Tested.
Ad away works a treat for rooted users. If you're seeing ads with it installed then it just means you have to wait for the hosts files to be updated as the ads are coming from a server which isn't in the database.

As you all know there is no WiFi Direct option available in Xperia S, so I found an alternative to it which is an app called Super Beam which gives the same speed as WiFi Direct and is actually a lot simpler to use than WiFi Direct!
If WiFi Direct is not available, it uses the phone's hotspot to create a WiFi network to which the other device connects for receiving files.
But the best part is how simple and fast it is to use. I sent a file around 400mb in about 5 mins! Bluetooth is nowhere near to that!
There is also no need for pairing devices like WiFi Direct, the app does all this by itself using QR Codes.
Only disadvantage is that both phones need to have the app installed.
I really recommend this to all Xperia S users, since we do not have WiFi Direct option in our phones.

Yes all those apps are good too. And there are many more apps on the Play Store that give this functionality, but the reason I chose this one was because of its simplicity. You don't want to go through a whole lot of steps every time just to send a file, it should be quick and simple.
So easy... Thank's a lot for information.
Wow, this is a great Application! I searched for something like that. Thanks!

But it needs internet to transfer files ??? Because i tried to transfer using superbeam or fast file transfer, it tries to create a "wifi tethering" and since i don't have internet it fails to transfer files.
If am trying it wrongly, could somebody please help me to use it in right way?
Thanks.

U don't need Internet to transfer file. Update the superbeam -go to settings in app-sending setting -set preferred direct method to "hotshot "-keep hotshot name and hotshot password blank...... Set same Setting in other mobile also......
Hello more 3 forum. I'm new to something like this. Proxy and vpns.. I'm wanting to bypass blocked sites at my school and possibly any other wifi that blocks sites. I've tried using the tor app and when I attempt to turn it on it just stick at turning on and never actually turns on. If someone could post a guide or a app that allows this I would really appreciate it!

IT for a high school here, we block the protocols for VPNs and proxies. Unless your school is incapable of using Google, it won't work.

We don't have the full story here. Maybe you should tell why there is a block on you using Wi-Fi at work? We wouldn't want to get you dismissed.

I think they just picked random users and blocked them, with new phones we can connect and some of the olders can to.. Others don't.. I'm just asking because some of you guys understand a lot better than me... And I was going to flash my phone to give it a try...and then I remembered to ask you first..
I think you need to find out what the full procedure is to connect. If it is random blocking as you say, that will probably be by IMEI. It might be you're using the wrong protocol to connect.

The definitions and password is OK, but when connect it trys to reconnect all the time..
So the flash won't work?
Thks
