The wife is having problem with cropping on her Nexus that I hope somebody can help with. Below is a screen shot of her home screen. When I go into the wallpaper settings to select the size for the wallpaper in her gallery, I select the image, drag the arrows across so it highlights as much of the image as possible, and then click "Crop". It then sets the image as the wallpaper. The problem is that it is cutting the image short on the first and last screens as can be seen by the second image. Any help with getting the image to take up the entire screen would be appreciated. On a side note, if I select an image from any other wallpaper other than Gallery, it takes up the entire screen.

Is there a way to, turning off wallpaper scrolling, set a wallpaper using portrait-oriention without having to use the cropping tool? The image I want isn't exactly setup for landscape...nor do I get the entire thing. It's kind of annoying. Any other device would just set it on it's own without having to crop it to a completely different size...
If you're using launcher pro, under appearance settings. As for no landscape, I'm not sure, other than to turn the whole feature off.
This epic reply brought to you by none other than my roxx'd out Evo.
The only ways I've found to do so is to use Multi-Picture Live Wallpaper or edit the image and turn off wallpaper scrolling if you're using a home replacement app.
For Multi-Picture LWP, go to common settings and select the image you want to use - for best results have the image sized at 480*800. If it's smaller it will look bad, and if it's larger it may also look pixelated and the app may only show a portion of the photo depending on what your settings are. Don't set any individual settings.
If you're using a home replacement that allows for turning wallpaper scrolling off, you can use Photoshop, Gimp, or another editing software to center the image. First crop/resize the image so it's 480*800. Then you will need to add 240 pixels to each side (left and right). In Photoshop, I do this by adjusting the canvas size (it's under "image", I think).
If you want to do it the second way, but don't have the software/knowledge to do so, you can send me the image & I'll do it for you. If you want to do it yourself, Gimp is a great free photo-editing software.

Is there any way to STOP the picture from getting zoomed in when selecting a wallpaper ? I have photos that i want to use , but everytime i select them, i get the crop window, that's ok, but as soon as i touch it, the picture zooms in, and i end up getting 3/4 of the cropped selection as wallpaper. Can i get it to resize the picture to fit a screen ? I use Launcher Pro so the wallpaper is locked .
It annoyed me also, but just place ur fingers right outside the square and pull away, it should resize to max
When I go to change my wallpaper for the main screen or lock screen, its off. Like its supposed to go wide for scrolling but it just gives me a square to select with which makes the image distorted once saved. Is there a fix? Ive searched but havnt found anything. Help please. Include links if needed.
Thanks
I had the same issue yesterday and found several answers via google...
For the lock screen the best fix seems to be using a photo editor to resize the photo to 980x800 (or I think some multiple thereof), then upload it to your phone and select as wallpaper.
Wallpaper Wizardrii and Wall Switch both work for me for the main screen wallpaper. Both free and available from android market.
I recently got an Epic 4G Touch. I created some custom wallpapers and sized them to 480x800 to match the screen's resolution. The wallpaper has a single object (the HAL 9000 eye) which is a circle.
When I use the wallpaper as the lock screen, the eye is distorted slightly so that it's no longer a circle.
The gallery displays the image properly and the selection screen for the lock screen also displays it correctly.
I think I can compensate for this by resizing the image slightly, but I don't know how many pixels to remove from the image. I think the status bar might be a good starting point, but I don't know how many vertical pixels it uses.
Thoughts?

Because of wallpaper scrolling, you need 800x960 wallpaper. In other words, double the horizontal dimension to allow for scrolling...
My wallpaper doesn't scroll anymore, I'm not sure why.

I tried creating an 800x960 wallpaper using the same eye image and it didn't work. I used GIMP to create a black background image and then inserted the eye image as a new layer. The 480x800 images I created were done with the same method.
The 800x960 wallpaper is still distorted. So the problem is that the aspect ratio of the lock screen is not quite 480x800 or any multiple of those dimensions.
Through some experimentation, I think that changing the vertical dimension to something less than 800 seems to work. For example, I took my original 480x800 image and cropped 30 pixels off to make an image of 480x770. I then resized the image back to 480x800 while ignoring the aspect ratio. This results in a distorted eye, but the distortion is in the opposite direction. (The 480x800 wallpaper is distorted in the horizontal dimension. The 480x770 resized image is distorted in the vertical dimension.)
The 480x770 image is slightly less distorted so I think this might be the way to go. Short of guessing the right dimensions, I was hoping for a way to determine the best dimensions to use.
To help anyone else reading this thread, I'm attaching the wallpapers I've created. Feel free to download them and try them out.

I think I read somewhere here that the latest Samsung stock update disabled the scrolling wallpaper.
home screen or lock screen?
Lock screen does not scroll.
For home screen you need 800x960 image or you may need to adjust your original 800x480 image to 400x480 and double the pixel size.
To scroll the home screen wallpaper, you need to change the option to make it scroll.

I'm working on the lock screen. With most wallpapers, the difference in the aspect ratio is likely not noticeable. I just happen to see it because my lock screen image has only one component and it's very easy to see when it's distorted.

This really sucks. I also miss the bounce effect on the browser/when you reach the end of a menu. Was it due to the Apple lawsuit?
I'm not sure if this has been covered before, i've had a good search and it brings up no similar questions so thought it was time to ask..
Whenever i save a new image from the net and transfer it to my DHD with the idea of saving it as my homescreen wallpaper, or try and open it in either Quickpic, or ES File Explorer, i always get the resize box to crop the image to fit... But i don't want to crop it, i just want it to look on the home screen as it does on the preview screen that it's showing me, but obviously without the white outline crop box.. If i try and crop as little as possible, to try and save most of the image, it just zooms up huge and is pointless..
Can this be done?? Have i overlooked some settings? Does it have to be a certain pixel size in order for it not to crop?? I have some nice images but would like to see it all on the screen, not just half of it..
It needs to be same aspect ratio. Then you can remove cropping area by enlarging selection.
