Supreme Shortcuts customised icons!! - Windows Phone 7 Development and Hacking

i have maanged to input customised icons for supreme shotcuts
basically the xap , u unzip it into a folder to view its contents
then navigate to icons folder within it
u will see icons there for every shortcut, just replace them with yr own
but there is a problem l with it.
they dont match the standard size icon within the tile on the homescreens . it looks oversized inside the tile
so u need to have an image bigger than 50x50 px and u need an border it into a 64x64
so yr entire image will be a smaller image within a 64x64 border but the theme colour will not match the phone and u cant change themes to reflect it
a program called batch pro can do this
i would appreciate if anyone can show me a easier way to do this
of course the whole thing is easier if the tile colour is black, which unfortunately we cant choose black in themes

Why not just use the icon switcher that's already built into the app?

/me bangs head on desk.
Why do people not read the post before doing silly things

Themes Ala Carte???

I haven't gotten into zip signing and all that yet. But I was wondering if it's possible or would even make sense to ala carte themes?
I saw a thread on fonts that sort of addressed this, but would it work of the clock and icons or other select things? Where instead of installing the whole theme, you could mix and match which ever you want?
I'm not sure what you mean but I'm guessing you wanna pull some icons from one theme and put it in another, yes that is possible and you MIGHT have to resign the zip and apk's.
You can just put the /system/apps or /framework folder by itself, with the updated apks in it, in an update zip and just flash it.
No that isnt what he means, he wants to know if you can just flash a specific set, such as just the fonts or just the clock or just the notification bar. Right?
While it does seem possible through a couple unrelated threads, the more you brake up the flashes, the more "ugly" the strucure gets/ That is not the correcr word, but it would probably be safer and cleaner to build a theme. But, I believe it is possible. Someone with a better understanding of the entire process, such as Stericson, could address your question with a little more certainty.
i took this as you like a clock that is held in theme A and the fonts in theme B and the icons in theme C and you want to flash those three components, if that is not right then please tell me and try to explain a little better what you meant by this. if you wanted that you would have to either extract those such items from the themes they are apart of(with the devs' permission of course) and then put them all into one zip and resign it, which isn't that hard at all, especially easy if you have windows and you download the auto-signer app. or if you do not want to make the sip and sign it you would have to ask the theme dev to extract the files for you and sign them for you and give them to you.
personally as a theme dev i would probably tell you to figure it out if you wanted parts of my theme, and if in a few days you decided to ask again i would be willing to help you. i certainly wouldn't just take the file you wanted and zip and sign them. i like to help people learn, that would be spoon feeding and i am really against that
My question is about the structure / theory of themes. Right now a theme consists of many things; a clock, icons, background, menu button….. and whatever a dev decides to put in that one update.zip is what you’re stuck with.
I’m wondering if you could have an update.zip that just does the clock without changing the other icons. And visa versa, and update.zip that just does the menu button without changing the clock…. And so on.
So as a theme creator can I create a bunch of clock update.zips.. or a series on menu buttons.. so themes become more like skins, where you can skin just the clock, or just skin the icons.
Can I install an update.zip for the clock. Then immediately after, install an update.zip for the menu button without messing up the install of the clock.
I’m not thinking of anyone’s themes in particular… and I’m not talking about a single update.zip that does the clock and icons.. I’m thinking of multiple update.zips that are either the clock or the icons or the font.. where it’s more ala carte.

Yes, that is very much possible. You WILL have to resign everything you edit though.
This can be done but certain apks contain multiple features (the Launcher.apk contains the clock and the programs drawer).
90% of all graphics, save for icons, are located in just three or four apk's, so you can't really mix and match all that much.

Unless you are willing to dive deep into the waters, and learn what images are for what aspect and where they reside. Then, you can mix/match/replace as you see fit. My phone has a few icons from Blue Star 5, most from Fade to Blue, most elements are from Fade to Blue, some status icons from Code Name Ninja, a custom status bar & tray handle, a custom designed clock, and some custom text on the lock screen.
But it definitely involves some time and work, figuring out which elements I want, where to put them (or get them from if not creating my own files), resigning each APK, repackaging into an update.zip (or multiple updates, as I do incremental changes often flashing only the modified file over) resigning that, and crossing your fingers that you did everything right. Of course nandroid nandroid nandroid!!!

Definitely. Though that is almost as much work as making your own theme from scratch

Except for designing the icons, and all the painful work that Damnitpud put into the .9.pngs for FadetoBlue. It surely wasn't as easy at copy and paste to get it the way I wanted it. But, I gotta say, it is nice to have a theme that I know is unique and holds some really cool elements.
I took some of my friends complex line drawings, used one for the status bar, and three different ones for the launcher drawer. I also used a photo I had taken for the clock, while placing the minute/hour hands outside of the numbers - keeping the rest transparent so it would work on any background.
But, yeah, to the OP - anything is possible. But it can turn into you creating your own theme for the most part.

extract /system/framework/framework-res.apk, go to res/drawable/ find the background (can't remember the exact name ATM, statusbar_background.png or something like that) open up some pic editor like gimp, put the eraser strength to whatever you want (e.g. 50%) put on the biggest size pencil, scale it to ten, and click the center of the image. save and rezip, copy back to phone and you're good to go
It's "status_bar_background.png" inside /system/framework/framework-res.apk while inside there it's under /res/drawable/status_bar_background.png
theres a transparency pack in the "Post Your Metamorph" thread
The notifications will still have a nontransparent background afaik.

Change program icons in Manila 2.5

Hi,
I asked this before, but only got a program to change the program icons in the windows start menu...it didnt carry over to the program icons in manila (im using Valkyrie_v5.7 24001)
I would prefer to have all icons in a similar fashion...some are low res and some dont fill the rounded square well.
Hope this made sense
Thanks
Use the program, then once you've changed the icons, delete all the contents in Application Data\HTC\ProgLauncher then soft-reset.
By the way, I recommend nullstring's Icon Changer. He's an X1 user as well, so you're sure it'll work on your phone.

never seen this post man, thanks alot! it works like a charm...i never realised that you had to delete those temp files!
im using the ireflect icons, i know they look like a gayphone...but they do look quite smart.
what icons you guys all use? im looking two that dont fit in at the moment;
ie icon (rounded corners)
marketplace (again, rounded corners)
If you are interested in some other ideas about icons, I can suggest those:
drik´s icon pack
dZenkinZ Iconset
tnynnt´s Application Icons
DINIK´s HD2 Icon Set
And maybe there´s even more on xda... those suggestions are just from the
forum I visit most these days...

Hola,
1) the Top Icons as you call them, are "hidden" and included within the dll´s of your device. If you want to change them, you can either learn how to make taskbars (extract images from them, easy, but then mod them, also easy, and finally "put them back in and make the taskbar work - not so easy). You might find up to 1500 or 2000 images within the taskbar. Some of the images can be found in windows root though ;-)
It´s a lot easier to find a "proper" taskbar with the icons you want, or and this I would not recommend at all - play and check which dll is responsible for which iconm and mix them.
Messing with these can really screw your device, so if you don´t know, don´t do it
2) Transparency for the BackGround of ClockArray
- you can edit the manila file for the background your self, then you would have to decide wethere transparent or visible, and keep the "other" version on SD card, so that when ypou wanted to change that, you simply "replace" the one in windows from SD Card
- or if using CHT, you can install Poyensa´s CHT Tweaks (beta) and use the config possibilities in it to make it transparent or visible on the go, as well as many other interesting configuration options within and for CHT Widgets...
3) That is a rather tricky one because it´s hidden in the mode 9 file for that tab, and maybe also referenced by lua files and other mode9, and this tweaks are discussed in specific threads so that the average user is not missled into modding elements that could mess his or her sense(s)
4) You already have those icons provided by you. The are in the cab from Keko
If you check the files with CFCGui you will find up to 5 or 6 icons that are "almost" the same for each tab. As posted in the other thread:
he slider cab / or slider elements consist of the following groups/items:
- Slider bar icons when selector is not "on" them
- Icons on selector when scrolling over bar icon (these are transparent when using transparent slider, except for calendar because of date)
- Midscreen Icons
and last but not least, the ones within the settings tab and tab config personalize options
If you could tell me, which ones you would like to change, I could provide you with the list for them

Which manila files are these?
Hi, manila files are located in the windows, if you change (copy paste) remember to backup the original ones.
This cab is for transparent bar operator, just to start ....... To me it works 100% with CHT. to make transparent the other bars, there are many cab we work with hd mini. There is a cab I think I ANASTASIA that makes everything transparent screen, calendar of 70%. the only thing that does not work with hd mini is the digital clock. My setup always with CHT.

If the cab is OK, it should restore the o files after uninstall - but you should ALWAYS know the files that are beeing modded/replaced, and if you don´t have your ROM files broken down already on PC, then you should back them up from device first
FlipClock background has two files:
BackGround normal = "31794a12_manila"
BackGround when "pressed" = "0b6f5c5e_manila"
Hi BHS,

You are still on CHT right?
Sure, check out 573d289b_manila It´s a manila qtc (image) file that can easily be modded to suit your needs for the Home Tab. And in one of Gabbana´s posts (actually two posts, one cab and one zip) where he offers transparent top bars for all tabs except the Music Tab... Sense Transparent top bar tab Maybe you have included them already in your collection of Gabbana´s work?

You,re welcome. If you try files, just remember to always backup the original ones, and if you are not sure about the origin or the changes in those files, replace them one by one and check for results...
This way, if "undesired" side effects happen, you can simply replace the file by the initial one
Unless a cab / install does a lot to your registry... In this case, an uninstall sometimes will not revert your registry back, but you can check in the cab for the changes.

Creating icons from .psd file?

Hi, can somebody please advise me on how to make icons from a .psd file? I have CS6 and GIMP, (but no experience with either) and have been floundering around for the last hour or so trying to make even a single icon from the template, which is attached.
As a sidenote, I think it would be pretty cool (and useful) if somebody were to make a thread about this, as I am sure there are many people who would like to make their own icons, but don't have the know-how to do it.
Are you making a PNG icon? What I did was using a custom launcher (I use Apex in my case) so that you can change the icons on the homescreen using just transparent 96x96 PNG files.
To create PNG icons on CS6, CTRL+SHIFT+S to save as .PNG and transfer it to phone.

Yep, a .png icon. I'm already using a theme which has a number of themed icons, the problem is getting other nonthemed icons to look similar to the themed icons. For that, there is a .psd template included, but I don't know how to use it to create icons.

A piece of cake! Lemme explain it to you:
1. First of all, open the .PSD file you attached above.
2. Hide ("close the eye") of the layer that has the text on it (the one that says "Drag your image UN...")
3. Drag-drop the image you want to transform into icon onto the working .PSD canvas (not where the layers are as it'll open a new project)
4. Move the image generated UNDER the layer you hid on step number 2... Your icon will be created.
Then, you just have to save your image as a .PNG file by selecting this option in the drop-down menu after doing CTRL+Shift+S ("Save as a .PSD" is by default)
And that's all! Hope it's clear now!
PS: Additionally, you may change the base colour of each icon by unlocking the "Base for icon" layer and then applying a color overlay under the "Blending options" as well as hide/delete the background.

Thanks a ton, just a few questions.
1. After dragging and dropping the imageimage I want to change to an icon I have to "place" it, right?
2. After doing as told, what do I do if the image does not fit the base of the icon? For example, if it is too small?
3. After saving the file as a .png, the background still remains in the .png image. Is this normal?
Thanks again!

First off, if you speak Spanish (I think you do because of your name), you can ask me anything using that language. My mother tongue is Spanish, but I know some English as I studied English Teaching and Translation.
Concerning your questions, here you are the answers:
1. As I said before, you have to drag-drop the picture you want as an icon FROM a folder ON the canvas/working space (where how the icon will look like is). Then, you can modify it.
2. If the image is too short/large, you have to resize it. Simply, press Ctrl+T (assuming you're using Windows. If not, CommandKey+T), hold the shift button down (in order to mantain proportions) and drag the corners of the picture to resize it. When you're done, press Enter.
3. Which background? The one with the wood texture? If so, it is quite normal if you haven't hidden the background layer. As it is locked, you have to select the background layer, press the "padlock" on the layer section of PS and then you can hide it.
As I said before, feel free to PM me any question. If it sounds confusing in English (and if it happens you know Spanish), I can explain it to you (or make a screen cast if you have some time).

Thanks, I'll contact you by pm.
