That's funny, I have 0.76.2000. Works just fine for me.
That's your bootloader. If anything goes wrong with your phone and you can't get into recovery, the bootloader is your last resort.

There is no "newer" version. The version of ENG Hboot you have is the DZ version. Just as 0.76.2000 is the G2 ENG Hboot version.

It is S-OFF itself!

My wildfire S is S-Off itself,i did nothing, just booted in hboot and at the top it says s-off....What about that?
LOL .... it's shipped as S-off....
Is it possible? It is a gsm..

sure it's possible. htc ships devices s-on or s-off depending what whoever they're selling them to wants.

There's no official ICS update for DHD but if you root it then you can install an ICS custom ROM. Read the guide in,my signature for more information.

Welcome! Don't aim so low. You could update it to Jelly Bean if you wanted!

Glevitans signature has a link to the thread and a direct link to the guide.
MissB has to the thread. You need to read the thread to reach post number #7 to get the guide or read the first post that will take you to the guide. Which is stated in the first few paragraphs of the first post. In all the cases a little more reading will save you from trouble.

No, it's not. Try this: reboot while holding power and volume-down. What happens?

I did that already I saw
*** LOCKED ****
ACE PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT-2.00.0029
MICROP-0438
and so on
You could try just flashing a recovery. If that works then no worries.
Mine also says locked but I flashed an updated hboot. Yours, no idea.

It's all in the guide / pdf buddy.
Edit: go to www.4ext.net and download that. Can't remember if it explains how to flash it.
2nd edit: download the app, first option. It will flash it for you. You may need to download superuser or supersu to gain root access before being able to use that app. You can get either one from the play store.

Then, there's no need to run the hack kit. If you don't have a custom recovery (CWM or 4ext) flash a custom recovery and then you will be able to flash any custom ROM. All that information is,in the guide

Right, for the "and so on" part, what happens if you navigate to "recovery" (with volume buttons) and select it (with power button)?
EDIT: apparently, my phone didn't refresh and I missed Teichopsia and glevitan's posts.
I love it when the team gets together in another thread.

Firewater works?

Can someone who has this device test firewater s-off?

I would but I don't have time to go back to the store tonight if it doesn't work.
Or will anything bad happen if it fails?

Why would you try a method to S-OFF intended for other devices with this one? It would be a nice starting point to screw up the device though :good:

You should try firewater. If it doesn't work for you then you are out of luck. Either pay the $25 once and then flash whatever you like, or you will just wait for the official OTA
the $25 is worth it :good:

Definitely worth it. Did it myself to debrand my T-MOB One (M8). Worked flawlessly!
Any progress here?
