I wanted the best protection for the Nexus but the built in screen protector was a major fault (would not register bottom keys with screen protector in place) so I got the idea to change up the color when I removed the built in screen protector. Since I like the color scheme on my wife Rezound I wanted to take it to the next level. Plus it's the only case I've tried that fits the extended battery perfectly. And if I get bored with red I can always go white.
Materials used.
Spray paint for plastic
Extra fine sandpaper
Painters tape

Nice work!
Not a huge fan of the red but the rest of the case looks nice. Liked that some of your widgets match your case color
I do not care for the Otterbox but your mod makes it look better. It's too bad the Colorware mods are too pricey for my tastes because they make some sleek looking case mods for the iPhone, and this phone looks fairly simple to replace the plastic shell.
I like the red soft keys. What rom has that? I can't find it.

I thought about removing the screen protector myself. Any tips on removing it?

I just installed Belkin Matte screen overlay on both of my Xoom's. I paid $25 for a two pack at Target. I am extremely impressed with the product. Eliminated smudges with only a moderate loss in light transmission. I installed using the water spray method. To keep from water damage. I wrapped the periphery of each Xoom with paper towels. I sprayed the sticky side of the overlay with water and carefully layed it down over the screen. Using a credit card wrapped in a few layers of paper towels I started from the center and worked my way out to the sides.

any actual pics?
Same here.. I got the Motorola BT keyboard on clearance for $48, and got the Belkin matte screen 2 pack also
I'm liking it a lot so far, was VERY easy to put on and looks great. It still smudges a little but not nearly as much.
i would also love to see pics... especially how the screen is looking with matte screen protector. the ones i used were terrible.

I tried taking some pics, but you really couldn't see anything.
I've used these type of protectors before. The first coouple days, you feel good about protecting your device, but the lackluster feel and reduced screen look will make you claw it off soon. I have been using my X and XOOM for a long time with no screen protectors with no probem. Motorola has a great build quality with the Corning Gorilla Glass, and it is rather resillient.
P.S. I do keep my xoom in the folio case, and am well pleased with the protection.
I'm glad I saw this thread. I got these for Christmas and kind of f'ed up on the first one, but the second one seemed like it was actually too big slightly, so I exchanged them at Target today and tried the water spray method which worked like a charm. There does seem to be a little moisture in some areas but it has been slowly going away since I reinstalled the new covers a couple hours ago. I personally think the screen looks much better with a matte cover on it (and most screens in general look better with matte covers). On all white backgrounds you can kind of see a prism effect, but I think the contrast is actually better, and pls there are no more fingerprints or any glare. It makes for much better viewing in bright areas too, gonna try it outside soon - without a cover you can't even see the screen unless you're in the shade when outdoors. I think this is the way that LCD displays were meant to be seen, LCD TVs always have a matte screen, and laptop LCDs with a matte finish are always more expensive than glossy. Anyway...I love it.
So I had the maximum cover on my phone. BUt it was an awkward fit, the slim side panels fell off. The back covers I had to cut a line down the middle to get it to fit on the curve. The corners where I had the slits eventually came loose and flapped about.
But I left it all on untill I got fed up after it turned my nice white phone a lovely shade of brown, so now it's currently defenceless apart from a cover on the screen.
Anybody know what the full body protection is like?
It has less parts but looks like the back may be a better fit. I get a free replacement from zagg but wondering which one poeple recomend?
On an other note anyone change their phones entire outer cover? fancy a change to a black phone!
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/130553746...AX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649#ht_1155wt_991
I would get one with just the back cover but then the silver tones from the front won't match. Unless someone can anyone reccomend one?
I've looked at the phone and it appears to take off the front you need to unscrew a screw which has a "void warranty" sticker over it, but guessing I've done this already with changing the OS to cyanogenmod.
I have the full body Zagg cover, pics here: http://capableandroid.blogspot.com/2010/10/zagg-invisibleshield.html
After almost an year some corners have come loose and filled with dust, but the middle and bottom parts are ok.
As for the case.. I can`t comment, I have a brown-grey one and I`m fine with it. (i still use a gel case, just in case.)
Looks different to the one I had. I see you have no protection over the corners, for my case I have to make a slit over them so the case was eventually overlapped. Mine has only lasted 6months...if that. Was horibbly discoloured. It's done the job though. Shame about the odd bits that havn't been protected. Never noticed the marks before since I took off the old shield.
I bought the Zagg invisible shield maximum cover but havin't applied it yet, doesn't sound very good. Is the screen protector ok and is the fluid you use to apply it safe, can it stain or discolour the phone, thanks.

The fluid is save. If you, by any change, get fluid IN the phone, just leave it to dry for a day or two before putting in the battery.
OK, thanks for the advice.
Hey guys, if you guys are looking for a cheap full body film protection like zagg check out xtremeguard its $5 on amazon + free shipping no tax (gotta love amazon).
I've been through a couple of these full body protections on various devices: zagg, bodyguardz, skinomi, and xtremeguard. They are all virtually the same, the rubbery kind. I actually just order these and should be on its way soon. From what I remember it's not orange peel.. it only gets that "peel" look when you squeegy too hard or stretch the film.
I assume it won't be as nice as ghost armor, but it's only $5 compares to $30 + tax... and honestly, my phone is white and I prefer the clear look.. and i bet many others would too.
If you don't like the rubber feel screen protector, feel free to leave that off and apply your preferred protection (magnum)
you said its not as nice as the GA, but my question to you is that does it stick well like GA? im thinking of trying out your product since im using a white SG2 as well but can you give us your user input after using it? is it like a smooth surface or carbon like GA?
thanks,

It's the same as the other products i mentioned... Like zagg. it's a smooth surface... Not carbon because well it's not carbon designed. Not sure how else to describe it, if you seen or used zagg before then yeah.
Adhesion sticks well. I haven't received it yet for the gs2 but if it's like how it was for other devices. It's a good cheap product. Other users have mentioned it somewhere

I used it as a screen protector, it sucked because it didn't feel like the same as the screen.

It does add a tiny bit of a rubbery feel but I've had no issues at all typing / using the touchscreen. I've had mine on here over a month and it still looks new. The only issue is with the textured battery door. The skin leaves little bubbles because of it. I left it on just for the added protection. I'm also using a tpu case and feel safer having an extra barrier between it and the phone ( dust particles can scratch up a phone pretty bad when they get between the skin and the phone) .

Wow this thing isn't bad at all, xtremeguard really did well on this one.
each film provided goes all the way to the edges.. The screen i actually had to trim a part or two because i wasn't able to place it on perfectly but no big deal at all. the rubbery feel on the screen isn't bad at all. It actually feels better than the cheap plain screen protectors that leaves you grease smudges. This actually prevents that quite a bit. i have the white gs2 so mine sticks on my back really well.
Complaint is that it left the top corners pretty exposed. But i just cut a couple strips from the left over film and placed them on.
I'll add some pictures.. If it is even visible lol
The film thickness isn't bad, it makes the screen about the same height as the surrounding bezel.
I have yet to put on my flex d3o case but i know that'll give the fit problems... Probably have to get a tpu case
When i say trim... It's like a very very small like .5mm strip. I assume it's a perfect fit on the screen thus if you can't put it on perfectly expect some lifts

ebay currently has it for $2.49 shipped. i bought just the screen protector a while ago, and i wasn't too fond of that wet install, but did manage to stick it on. the fitment is kinda poor, although i did trim a little bit of here and there, but it still didn't quite fit perfect. i emailed the vendor and they sent me a new one pretty fast, but i didn't bother to try it again. i bought two cheap ones from amazon recently and the fitment was a little bit smaller than the screen, but at least it wouldn't bubble up with my d30 case on

wow nice find, but yeah wet installs are a pain in the butt! But if done correctly, it ends up pretty nice.
I can guess why the fitment might be off and people should take note especially for the screen... they made the screen a very tight fit and when peeling off the film make sure not to stretch it! once it's stretched, it doesn't go back to its original form right away.
tips on wet install:
-bowl of your solution (soap plus water) better than using a spray
-don't use too much solution, just enough so you can easily take on and off the film, but not to the point where its all slippery
-steamy room (keeps dust down)
-alcohol wipes, don't bother drying
-for screen avoid the bubbles! like most protectors the bubbles will go away, but for this material... when it goes away it, it creates that orange peel effect in that small area.. otherwise its a smooth surface.
-do not squeegee too hard, this causes it to stretch.. use the cloth to soak up the water being squeezed out. I've heard people use the squeegee and the cloth together... haven't done it myself.
-wait until one film fully stays down before applying the next piece... total of 6 easy pieces.
If you don't like the screen protector.. I know there are quite a few who doesn't like the invisible armor rubber feel, you can just use another screen protector
HOWEVER, i recommend using the full body part though. It's really good stuff for those who don't want to put out money for zagg or ghost armor. $2.50 you can't go wrong with that lol.
@mmakoto, you should try out the full body part, I've used this material for every phone i have and it prevents it from the minimal scratches you get from hard cases.. leaving the phone on the table or hard surfaces... keys, low drops.. you get the gist.. It keeps the phone having that smooth slick feel once removed. Oh and it's thinner than zagg. It usually keeps my resale value for the phone high.. like $50 over the average.. thats some good ROI.
D3O FLEX fitment: the flex is a bit looser than the 2 tone ones.. i have both but i doubt the 2 tone one would do well with this.. don't want to risk it
It is able to conform around the phone with the protection on nicely.. If you know about the d3o case... it covers right above the bezel area.. so my screen which had minimal amount of screen protector resting on the bottom right bezel area is barely being lifted (this is user application fault) I can press the screen back down easily.. i will have to trim that area just a tad.
NOTE: the other parts of the screen that i was able to perfectly apply my screen protector (not on the bezel) it fits wonderfully.
TL;DR: Cheap alternative to full body protection (ZAGG). Use a different screen protector if you don't like the rubber feel (not that rubbery though). D3O flex case fits well over it. TPU would probably be a better choice (more room for error)
EDIT no pictures yet... I don't have another camera.. gonna have to wait for the lady to come back from cheating on me in vegas (jk).
I installed this last night. I only did the edges and the battery door since I don't use a screen protector anyway. The back door looks like it has a lot of porosity right now and not sure if that'll go away. The edges work well though I didn't place them that great. It works though. I bought an extra set too. Really cheap!
I may end up doing ghost armor in the near future as this was most to see how I like this style.

Thinking of getting one, for the ones that still have it on how it holding?
Like most full body ones. it gets old and discolored. It held on really well but it started making my white phone look dirty so i just switch it out. It's cheap so i don't mind. Just make sure the corners are down well. I kept taking mine in and out of my case and it started to make the corners peel.

Are these comparable to the PowerSupport screen protectors for Apple products?
Starting to get tired of the Zagg's tackiness.
They are pretty darn cheap for a 3 pack I might just order one.
Ya I had iPhone 3gs pretty close to power support. Before this I had zagg just terrible quality and fitting on top wasn't that great and orange peel. Glad I find out this sp

I'll update on the quality/comparison to power support.

Just got mine in today. Gonna install them later when I can steam the bathroom, but doing a preliminary fit, they cover the screen perfectly.
Edit: After install the bottom edge does not want to stay down. Not much of a problem for me as I have a case on the way.
It does add a rainbow effect to the screen that is most prominent on whites or brighter colors. Don't know if it'll go away with time, but I am willing to live with it for now because the feel is way better than the Zagg.
It is definitely easier to slide my finger around. Does not attract much fingerprints and the anti-glare works well enough for me.
Overall, I'm happy with it. Mostly because of the price and improved feel over the Zagg. I'll have to do some long-term testing regarding the rainbow effect and if I can put up with it.

Just got mine and put one on. Fit is better than most, but the blasted curved edges do cause the top and bottom to lip up. I have an otterbox commuter so i don't even see the bottom just a little lipping at the top. Overall besides that, the cutouts are exact, the camera is perfectly cut and the earpiece looks good too. The anti glare effect is not for everyone, but i do appreciate it although it causes graininess. Barely any grease gets on this guy which is amazing. 8/10 for these protectors.
As compared to powersupport: take it like this... unless powersupport themselves makes protectors for the nexus, these are a clear runnerup to them.
One thing that is EXREMELY frustrating is that they used the system of two tabs on one edge to apply the protector, and they made the two tabs at the bottom of the protector, allowing for zero focal point to pivot the protector. Really wish they put them at the top. I still managed a perfect fit though

I just received mine. Here was my application method:
- Wipe with Windex electronics wipe
- Wipe with included microfiber cloth
- Spray with air duster can
- Peel off first layer and apply tape to the adjacent corner
- Position and press down with included card or plastic squeegee
- Peel off last layer and smooth out with microfiber and card
I LOVE the texture. Swyping is much easier. The matte finish is nice and goes well with my Qubits case. It does however make the screen look a bit grainy. Not so noticeable on dark colors, but when looking at lighter screens (i.e. Message app) it's noticeable.

I agree with the swiping, this matte finish has literately no friction that glass or plastic would have on your fingers, whether their dry, wet, or greasy. Antiglare films are one reason why my Temple Run session was extremely high on the iPod, lol.
Can anyone with this screen protector post some pics or video? Thanks.

I think im going to pull the trigger on these been looking into matte protectors an the reviews for these seem to be better than the rest, wouldn't mind seeing a video or a few pictures before i purchase but im getting real tired of the verizon protector i have
I've said it before in a different thread that the display quality of these devices are absolutely amazing, it would be a pity to ruin that with a screen protector. There isn't a true perfect screen protector, but the two I'd recommend is either XO or martin fields. The basal is cheap, but martin fields is also dry and super clear. However, it is a oil magnet just like the XO.

I'll take some pictures tomorrow when I get to the office. I just put a new one on tonight and it came out very nice.
By reading these comments, wouldn't this screen protector be the same quality as the one Verizon sells? I used to have the Verizon one but I stepped away because of the grainy look on white screens (difficult to read sometimes).

I'm wondering whether to get a full decal for my Note, instead of my usual screen protector and case combination. Assuming my phone will not get run over by a vehicle p), are decals sufficient for drop protection? Which are the best brands to get? What are the pros and cons of using decals?
Or perhaps I should get use a "back decal" and get one of those high quality, shatter/bullet-resistant screen protector that I see on Korean websites? Will that be enough protection for the occasional slip of the hand?
TIA
nice, but wonder how well the decals will stick to the textured back cover of the note though
i own a white note, and i bought a decal from www.gelaskins.com
they do feature a lot of nice skins, have been using them on my iphone and macbook. easy to paste too, due to the adhesive being 3M and air bubbles can easily be squeezed out.
I bought a used white Note and don't like white so i bought a dark Skin from Decalrus.com $7 No more white!! As far as protection, I doubt more than scratches but I don;t use cases or screen protectors and never had an issue;

The skins do look nice, I am only worried that they are difficult to apply and will always be skew in some way. I'm not sure I like the old sign maker's trick of using a little soapy water to align everything and then squeegee out the water once everything is set.
You said they were easy to stick how much time did you take for your note?
