I remember hearing a while back that one of Google's goals when designing 4.0 would be to make it compatible with all Android devices. I'm not sure if they meant all of them that ever was, or if they just meant both recent smartphones and recent tablets...
I'm starting to suspect that it's probably the later since even the higher-end devices seem like they will be forced to wait a long time before they get ICS. Still, I'd like to remain hopeful, is there any indications that the Wildfires will get ICS?

IMO We won't get it, little bit crappy specs.
But I personally would go to CM9 and resign from Sense-like ROMs
If you like that style I'm sure someone here could help you make a new skin. Imo I like the 2.1 dock better but this is nice.

Hmm, well it has 512 MB of RAM, that's not nothing. Or do you mean the tiny memory capacity? I think it's 150 MB of actual SSD memory?

CM9 is custom rom (cyanogen mod for ics). cmiiw

So I know that the new version of sense (3.0) is coming out on the amazing new sensation and Evo 3D in the summer. When there is a leak of some type (which I am fairly sure there was one not to long ago http://phandroid.com/2011/04/14/htc-sensation-test-rom-leaks-let-the-porting-begin/ ) would it be possible for one of the devs here to port it over to the original Evo?

I'm under the influence that it will not be released because of the hardware drm and sense's ties to renting/buying online in the newer phones.
I'm sure most of it will be ported over though. If not it exactly, then its better features.

Devs are working on the leak from the sensation as we speak...its a slow process atm because the system dump was huge (580ish mbs *versus the largest I've seen at around 190 mbs*). And out needs to be stripped down, if possible.

I just dont see it happening. our "out dated" (read: NOT EVEN A DAMN YEAR OLD) evos just cant hang....
And HTC said via twitter that the sense 3.0 would only be on NEW devices (READ: not yet released) but that they would b e porting pieces from 3.0 back to older devices.

The only neat thing I saw about sense 2.0 was being able to move your screens into different orders. Actually, that was the only thing I saw.
I think that, regardless of what version of sense we get, the devs will definitely put all the cool stuff into their different roms.

The best we could hope for is that one of the joojoo early adopters posts a dump. Anyone who bought the joojoo gets a grid10 for free. Not sure if the tablet/phone versions are similar.

I would highly doubt it. If they wanted more open source, then they could just skin Android, instead of creating a new OS (albeit based off Android)

I doubt they're going to open source it, looking at the CEO's comments on android and apple. I do hope we can get it on our incredible somehow though.
I've got a Grid10 (GridOS is still pretty buggy)
I would love to dump it so everyone could take a stab at porting it, but the device doesn't have a standard USB port. They want $30 for a proprietary USB adapter.

Honestly not sure if that is possible. I believe it relies heavily on the twframework-res.apk and I don't know how you could get around that. It would be OK as an option for any AOSP ROM. I just don't see how it would work. Sorry.

I don't have CM9 installed at the moment, so can't test, but it works with other builds than Samsung in general, so don't see why it wouldn't with CM9 ? I've used it on another phone quite a while back. Worked fine.

Personally I love both. TW 4.5 does not work. I read that some have had luck with getting TW 4.5 to work. Mainly I was wondering if anyone could get TW 4.5 to function.
Why all the hate for TW? It's much better than sense or motoblur (oh god....motoblur). I'd take it over stock GB any day.

All of them suck Touchwiz, Sense, the whole lot. Just wish they would just leave it as AOSP.

That is a huge increase for very little extra

Haha agreed. I used to have the Droid 1 and all the ROMs where about 50mb... I come to this phone and they are .25 to .3 GB and I was so shocked. AOSP is the best in my opinion. I do see the appeal of TW to some though

cyanogen mod has always been strictly aosp...i remember he would always say that his roms dont come with sense ui and never would. he would mention "so don't ask"im sure tw is included in this claim.

I've always wondered how our phones would run MIUI, since our phones have the best potential and 2 gb of ram, that makes me think that the resources hungry MIUI will run fantastic in the GS3. Any of you devs have plans to port for us?

My guess is that it's probably in the works. Everybody is really focused on cm10 right now so I would imagine when that dies down a little bit we'll start seeing more of miui and other roms.
I think the fact that there is already a MIUI rom for the international GS3 would make easier to port for our D2tmo. We are a bit behing in rom options in comparison with other US variants. No rush intended tho, just wanted to bring up the interest of us tmo users for something diff and because I haven't seen any request for this either

Actually I have been working on porting MIUI over to our device and the closest I got was having it bootloop on the MIUI bootscreen. Still working on it tho but I bricked my white s3 so I had to get another. I'm looking for another dev to help me out on this.

Yeah I'm pretty much dying without a Miui port. I used Miui constantly on my HD2 and I had some really nice themes going on, very minimalistic and sexy. I've actually been considering switching back to my HD2 for the time being just so I can get back to miui, haha.

Very, very unlikely since we were skipped by the ICS update, and other manufacturers are dropping their dual core phones...
This was most probably a typo.
And since most of us on XDA are already rooted, I would definitely go with a mooded JB anyway

They didnt say it cant run ics, they recognised it could but it woukd mean a full wipe because if partitioning size. And keeping the customers data integrity intact comes before everything else. The desire x - not sure - then the hd is a type or the whole things fabricated. Somebodys having a laugh. Still hoping for the ics update on htcdev, if that does come it really will be the last.
True I believe it when I see it, and with HTC we will never see it.
think so im running a 4.2.2 atm its not great but its a custom rom it doesnt lag that much but it doesnt have google services which is a downside to this one...
