I rooted my Samsung T989 this morning, and I lost 4g connection. I noticed it a couple hours after rooting, so I didn't know if it was root related. I went to t-mobile, got a new galaxy after backing up with titanium backup, and rooted it again. Now, still no 4g. Has anyone else had this problem? How do I fix it?
Edit: I have no data at all, it's not just 4g that's missing.
ummm idk whats wrong with your rooting process, but rooting has nothing to do with data. which method did u use to root your phone? and have you used a custom rom yet?
I used the clockwork mod with odin. No custom roms, just rooted, installed busybox, and titanium backup.
Anyone? I really don't want to unroot my phone.
Do you have an active apn?

Delete disable from the apn.
It should just say epc.tmobile.com. Also change apn type to internet+mms.

This is a problem that has plagued me since day 1 when I got my N1, persisted through my Nexus S, and now with my Galaxy Nexus and I have vowed to fix this...
Whenever I receive a MMS message regardless of the sender's carrier, the message comes in and says "Subject: no subject" before the picture is displayed. Small, trivial, issue yes, but I can not for the life of me get rid of it and have tried nearly every possible APN setting from Googling alternate options. I have also tried using replacement messaging apps and all have the same result. My current APN settings are:
APN: epc.tmobile.com

Will give it a shot. Tested immediately after changing the setting and still received the "Subject: no subject", but I will give it some time to update and report back.
Some time later and still experiencing the "Subject: no subject" message...
Just chatted with T-Mobile online and was told the following:
_Braxton M: That is definitely strange. I believe this may just be something with T-Mobiles services.
Me: How can I go about fixing this?
_Braxton M: This is something that unfortunately cannot be fixed. This is a standard function of T-Mobile devices.
Me: So you're saying that ALL t-mobile devices when receiving MMS messages will display "Subject: no subject" when the sender hasn't specified a subject field?
_Braxton M: Yes, that is correct. I myself experience this daily.

I'm experiencing the same issue and while its a small issue, its annoying.
Has anyone been able to figure out how to suppress the Subject: No Subject message during MMS?
Is not everyone experiencing this when a subject is not specified?
iOS has a setting where you can turn it off, I'm surprised Android does not have this functionality or does not just omit the subject when the sender does not set one.
Hello again XDA,
I seem to be unable to receive MMS messages from iPhone users but experience no issue when other T-989 users (Girlfriend) send me MMS messages. I only mention iPhone users as the only people who have iPhones have tried sending me MMS and they always hang and never download. I can't confirm this happens with any other model phone. Are any of you NexusMOD users experiencing this issue ? Any suggestions would be great.
Thank You,

hi guys,
just got an xperia ion lt28at , 3g is not working on att, added the wap.cingular apn but i do not get a radio button besides it to enable it.
att pta apn is the only one enabled, i am on ics.
any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
The PTA apn is the only one you should have in there. Did you get the phone from at&t or where did you get it from?
Sent from my Sony Xperia™ ion
bought it from another xda member, it's the at&t version of ion, just updated to ICS.
just factory reset the phone, went to add a new apn with the defualt one not enabled, and when i added default att hspa settings to new apn, i did see 4g in the notification bar but as soon as i saved the new apn it was gone and I can't enable the newly added apn.

If you factory reset it or flash the stock at&t ics and have an at&t sim in the phone you do not need to input any apn as it will download the settings for you.
Now if you did not have a LTE plan before getting the ion you will need AT&T to change your data plan to an LTE one. This does not cost anything extra and will not change anything other than allow you to use LTE. Even if you won't be using LTE in your area you need the LTE plan.

That looks right. Might be an issue where you need an LTE enabled plan. I know when I had the Lumia 900 I couldn't do data till I got the LTE plan on my account even though I wasnt iin an LTE area.

Waiting on a thread to come up so I can root it , this phone has truly been a challange , lol

The LT28at is easy to root. Just use bin4ry's .bat file after manually installing the backup & restore app
Ok Update on my data issue's , I flashed the generic international firmware to my Xperia Ion the Lt28h , and doing so I was able to enter all four APN's from a Motorola Atrix 4G.
Once I entered the APN's it showed my data working and now I am working on non LTE data , all four APN's I used are entered below , thank's guy's for all the help.

Those settings only seem to work on stock roms, maybe aosp roms as well but using M7 or serenity JB type roms data wont work, all the settings are ok but under apn settings use "default, mms, hipri" instead of the "internet + mms" and data should work. The internet+mms only seems to work on my gf's stock, non rooted ics phone doesn't work on my rooted JB

The ROM you're using shouldn't have any effect on the ability of the APN to work. The APN's are not based on the ROM you are using, rather they are carrier settings that determine if your phone will work on their network (I know you know that, I'm just stating the obvious so that *YOU* understand I also know what *I'M* talking about ).
Others will have to confirm if what you're stating is truly the case. Can anyone else comment, please?
Thanks!

Thanks for your help! epc.tmobile.com is for phones with no LTE support. I did try it and it didn't work. However, I did get the problem resolved by calling Tmobile support. They resend activation codes to my phone MMS.
