Has anyone tried using the "beautiful live weather" live wallpaper (the live wallpaper connected to beautiful Widgets)? I really love this live wallpaper, and it looks great on my N1.
However, I'm curious as to how it looks on the HD screen... if it looks good, I am probably going to order the GN tomorrow...
Thanks!

looks pretty awesome on the screen. however it does lag a bit, as it does with all live wps other than the default phase beam. i am guessing that is more of an ics compatibility issue.
It looks like you set the wrong one. There should be two beautiful live wallpapers in the list. There is a basic one (which you have set) and another one which uses open gl for pretty animations etc. The latter is much better..
Can you try out that one for me
Thank you! I am so happy that it formats ok, it is completely messed up on my tab.

Would you mind posting a screenshot so I can send it to levelup? I hope they will be willing to give BLW ICS/HD screen compatibility...

I didn't even know bw had live wallpapers. I just set it and it looks nice. I'll probably use my black still wallpaper to save battery. here are 2 screenshots
I tried it and it works pretty well. Its very cloudy and thus so was my home screen. Kinda bummed me out so I went back to my vibrant wallpaper.
The lag was minimal compared to others. Kinda makes me mad that live wallpapers are sluggish. Live wallpapers are really cool to show off android. The home screen experience should be top notch. Hopefully it gets better.
I'd hate to leave my G2x to a phone that can't run live wallpapers.
-Galaxy Nexus
-Asus Transformer
I currently do not have any screen lag using
launcher: nova launcher beta5,
rom: bugless beast 12-22 nightly
Ics 4.0.3
Leaked radios.
Very smooth.

I was wanting to get some ideas for new live wallpapers. I have been running the same old live wallpaper on my S2 and now on S3 which is the Galaxy Pack (link below)
From the wallpapers Ive tried, I think it looks the best. But I'm bored of it now. Which live wallpapers do you guiys think look best on the S3?

Definitely Metaballs HD if you dont hate paid apps
Its completely different because you can customize backgrounds, images, colors and shading/blur 3d effect.
P.S. Free version is available too, but with huge capability restrictions.
I did try that, looks cool, but at the same time looks a bit tacky for my liking.

I just tried that too, does look good, needs an HD update though. I also prefer interactive Live wallpapers. But for now might stick with Alive
Had my s3 for just over a week now, and currently switching between galactic core, metaballs HD and asteroid belt live wallpapers. But yeah just like you OP, I also need a change

I use Digital Hive. It's nice and subtle, no noticable battery drain on any of my phones.

ECG Live Wallpaper
An electrocardiogram of your battery will animate your wallpaper. If your battery going down, the ECG too. Looks very sexy.
But most importantly, does not affect the performance and battery life.

Which click widget are you using?
Multi Live Wallpaper.
Its not actually a live wallpaper, but rather you can select different wallpapers for every screen. Double tapping changes the wallpapers.
So I have a folder in my SD card as "Best Wallpapers" and my phone randomly changes its wallpapers from this folder.
Its pretty decent.
Try it out.
Been using it for a year now and no noticeable battery drain.

It has been a while since I made a real homescreen, I had been using Windows Phone for a while before I got my Galaxy S3. You guys have no idea how suffocating those tiles were (But I still love the MetroUI).
So, I call this setup DropUI cause of the raindrops in it. I have this strange fascination about them, they calm me down. You might notice the edges have black spots, they're there so that the screen looks rounded too. Inside the screen is another layer (or I call it a base). The base has the nav, the dock and the folders. I had to include the dock inside the wallpaper and then use blank icons on my launcher cause 7x10 grid was a pain to work with.
I had seen many setups before I created this, the best and the most unique ones used SweeterHome which is a beta launcher and is clunky. I believe in functionality over looks so I chose one of the best launchers out there, Apex Launcher. (You can use GoLauncher too but Apex has some nice gesture controls.) I made most of it, I had to mash up two icon sets and add in some effects to them. (resources are listed below). Unlike most of the complex setups which make it really hard to change wallpapers, each of my homescreen changes its wallpaper automatically. I had to make couple of wallpaper variations but same wallpapers get boring after a while. The folders are made up of Simi Folder widget and the text is made up of Minimalistic Text.

Didn't know whether to put this here or in Q and A, so apologies if it needs moving, but I'm using apex launcher on my N7 so i can change the icons on my homescreen. I really like the sets that blackblearblanc does in particular.
I've noticed though that they all look pixelated on the N7.
Is there anything I can do to get them to crisp up, or should I be looking for anything in particular when looking at icon sets? A certain pixel density, size etc.?
Help, as always, is massively appreciated.
Cheers
From what I understand, Apex isn't compatible at this time. That might be part of the problem.

It's compatible enough. You can download from Play Store and all the features are working great. They're working on getting it better though.
Since Apex is mainly for phones the icons aren't usually designed to stretch to our screen size. They'll work but they might look a bit pixelated. I'm using Apex with stock icons to avoid the eyesore.
Try searching for HDPI icon packs. Those would be the best qualified(I think) for stretching out while still maintaining image integrity.

Im on 4.1.1, rom is Glazed, Apex Launcher with a CM10 theme (Cobalt i think). Icons are HQ and look fantastic
Thanks for the responses. I tested the chrome theme from the play store and found that the icons looked good but didn't fill the entire icon area. If I manually picked a chrome icon then it stretched and looked rubbish again.
Guess I'll have to wait for more hd themes and sets.

Better to download the beta from XDA, which has been updated to Jelly Bean. Or if you already have Apex, select Beta in Settings then check for update.

I bought 2 icon packs for my then 7" Coby tablet, from the Play Store. They worked well and all was good. Then a few tablets later, I tried them on my Transformer Prime...and they looked so bad they were unusable. So I emailed the dev, and he said my Prime is probably looking for XHDPI icons, and he doesn't support that now. So he emailed me the .apk and basically said to crack it open and resize the images in something like Gimp or PS, then repackage. I just unzipped the apk, and noticed mdpi, hdpi etc. So I manually changed each icon, grabbing the highest DPI images that were in the apk. Worked great, and I've used that a few times now on different themes. Just thought that may help you in the future
This may or may not be what you are looking for but this is what i did.
i have apex on my TF300, and i was using the ICS plates theme from the market. once applying the theme all the icons looked really nice, however, there were a few icons that didn't come over or that i wanted to change to another icon.
when lonpressing and manually editing the icon, i got terrible resolutions on the images when i "select from icon packs". however, when i "select picture" it still allowed me to choose from the icon packs and the icons come across crystal clear.
like i said, maybe not what you were looking for, but figured i would post my experiences just in case.

You can have multiple instances on the home screen (I use 3) and it has a nice integration with your calendar and can show your appointments on the screen. Touching the sun/moon brings you to the weather page, else you can get to the calendar app. Very battery friendly.

What App did you end up settling with as a replacement? I checked out the ones people recommended but they all seem to miss some option that BW does. Example: I like the refresh on wake option. None of the other apps had that option. HD Widgets was the closest to replacing BW for me, it just misses on the configuration ability. So in the end, I went back to BW.

I found the same as you. I had a backup of previous version of BW, and restored back to that, and have stopped updating it. I suspect the day will come when that won't work, but that'll probably be a while.
Hey, gang. I did several searched through the site but didn't find a solution. Let me toss this out there. I'm looking for an app with a particular function. What I want to do is "freeze" the locations of the icons/widgets on the screens. Something that will allow their use, but not their moving or deletion.
Here's the deal. My daughter loves my N7, and uses it for her ECSE and speech therapy classes with specific apps to facilitate her development. (She's ASD.) She's really good about the length of time she's on the tablet, and has never gone off and gotten into any trouble with it. The problem is that several of her apps have a "drag and drop on the red X" function to close particular segments or sections within the apps. They're similar enough to the "drag and drop onto the red X" function in the Droid UI that she gets confused, deletes the icons for the apps themselves, and then can't find them the next time she wants to use them.
While I can set up a second user with her name and the same development apps that she uses, it still won't stop her from losing icons from time to time.
I've looked into a number of parental control apps, and while they clamp things down, I haven't found one that locks or "freezes" the positions of the icons.
Does something like this even exist? Trolling through Google Play hasn't found anything specific. Device is stock 4.2.2, unlocked and rooted, if that makes any different in recommendations. Thanks, all. :fingers-crossed:

With SS Launcher you can move any icon to any position on the screen (no grid), rotate to any angle, resize and recolor, pretty much unlimited. Many examples in this thread. My Home (notice Flipboard and FUEL at an angle; also notice that Wifi Manager widget is "behind" Widgetsoid widgets at bottom so all are active):
Sorry to not get back sooner, got mired in a 65 hour week.
Cue forehead-slapping "doh!" image. I got my head fixated on an app, and completely forgot about alternate launchers. Brilliant suggestion, guys, many thanks. Can you run the lock functions over a stock layout? ASD kids do well with routine and familiarity, and it would help that she not have to relearn new of screen layouts. OTOH, I can always replicate the layout that I already have, too.
Thanks again, gang, the advice and recommendations are appreciated.
I know nova aill let you import the layout from other launchers not sure if apex does it too or not. But worth checking.
