Ice Cream Sense V1.3 - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm relatively new to Android and have started flashing various ROMs on my Incredible. I finally settled on Ice Cream Sense V1.3. It is very stable and rather attractive as well. I think it would be perfect with two additions: the bluetooth icons are not themed and it could use an inverted notification/quick settings pulldown. On the off chance that I would get lucky, I've tried a couple for other ROMs (McSense and Stock +) but they inevitably break something else as they are not properly themed.
Thanks to 00McD00, Wildstang83, Jermaine and others for the hours of challenge and entertainment that you have provided me with your work. If someone could help me out with these two things, I'd be very grateful.

You could try the UOT kitchen.
Sent from my ADR6300 using xda premium

You'll need to have a good understanding of xml edits in order to invert the shade. There is a thread in themes and apps about it titled notification text color or something. Should be able to swap the icons out with ninjamorph otherwise 7zip method or start looking into apkmanager.

Thanks. I thought that UOT Kitchen might come into play. After reading through the thread that was mentioned, I was wondering if it might be easier to start with a working inverted notification package and try to fix the status bar icons to my liking.

{Request} metamorph color notifications for status bar??

I remember long ago a couple of themes coming out with colored notifications (ex. Green txt msg icon, red gmail envelope, etc).....was wondering if anybody knew of a theme that had them or maybe a metamorph somewhere.....really wanna get em on my g1. Thanks
Sent from my HTC Dream using XDA App
You can download Ninjamorph from market and do these sorts of things yourself by changing the stat_notify icon in drawable mdpi folder. The reason I'm telling you this is your always going to like the icon here or there or this piece of that theme I was the same way nobody is going to assemble it the way you like not perfect anyway so best thing is mix and match apps from different Metamorphs then Ninja what you couldn't find to your taste. If all this is too intimidating PM and I'll give you the one's I have.
Yea that's what I've been doing as far as mix n match metamorphs but couldn't find the colored notifications. Will try ninjamorph though, appreciate it.

Any pointers when porting over old themes to ei22

Peace!
I been using the EB13 GB theme for my epic 4g for months now. Its really simple, black dialer, black settings menu, and black transparent slide down menu. I am going to try to port it over to EI22 GB.
Any pointer to how I should go about it.
I read the theme guide but I want to hear about personal experience y'all went through....
Thanks for your time

Yola.
Porting from froyo to GB is NOT the most pleasant experience. A good amount of icons move to SystemUI.apk. 4G icons, 3G icons, all notification and quick toggle icons. And they are all named something different now! Haha quite a hassle.
Bottom line: Your going to need time and patience.
And when porting make sure to do it in a way that no unneeded icons get transferred. Even EB13 to EC05 had 20 or so pngs that were no longer needed. I recommend:
1)Take drawable-hdpi from the EB13 version and make a copy of it.
2)Copy all files in the GB drawable-hdpi and place them in the EB13 drawable-hdpi copy and then immediately delete all of them.
3)The result are leftover files that are not featured in EI22. Copy those into the main folder and delete them.
4)Then finally copy the remainder of the EB13 drawable-hdpi into the GB drawable-hdpi. I hope that makes sense!
Also the other framework files you should not port over. Androidpolicy.jar, services.jar, etc. Use the ones for EI22.
ALSO. XML's are a big nono when porting. Do not transfer any XML's from the EB13 theme to the EI22 template(Mostly applications. As far as framework-res goes, color and anim are exceptions. I have never had a problem with those). Any others cause a whole heap of issues(especially the dialer. Personal experience talking).
Another thing about theming that I tend to forget is when you port something over, make it your own! It is THEIR theme but it is also YOUR port! Rename it a little, theme a bit more than what was featured, add mods tailored to our phones(reboot options, scrollable toggles, etc). Make it reflect you a little! Ex. Nebula for me. Because hell that is the point of theming!
Also, very nice theme. I remember running it back then!
Thanks for the intel, that's what I am talkin about! Direct and real, anybody else wanna get down & spit it out?

I'm currently running a black/red theme, but dunno how to set it up just as a theme. It's currently pasted over the ACS mostly stock ROM, with samurai kernel. a bunch of custom apps. A lot of the stuff was either edited or fully contributed by several different sources. i cant remember them all, but i'll try crediting the ones i remember. Suggest ADW launcher, since a red theme pack is included
You should only Need to wipe Cache and Davlik Cache, as log as you're on a standard EI22 you can keep Data.
Warning
I'm still working on fixing the kink on the menu where the letters cant be read. If anybody could help solve the issue it'd help a lot
Need a custom swype though
includes custom (some very partial):
Facebook
Mirem Browser
Market (older version, disable Market Updater)
Google Quick Search
Phone
Calendar
Calculator
Dialer Tab Activity
Advanced Task Killer
Email
GMail
Gallery
Browser
Music Player
Video Player
Voicemail
Talk
TWLauncher 4 (manager included
Boot Animation (may not kick in till second reboot)
Shutdown animation
Red Circle battery but its not the standard one
But i don't have enough posts to post the link to it

no custom framework? check out the red swype beta in the link in my sig. btw if u could just take the current blue ei22 blue ics theme and just change all the blue to red it would be perfect i think. just time-consuming. but that way it'd already be flashable

oh yeah the framework, tw framework, and system UI have been customized. and i'll give that swype a tr, might make it completely black and red, see if it stays visible. The issue is that the themes dont seem to install the apps for me. Only the roms seem to do so. Probably something in the script or something i dont know about
i will be making one as soon as we get locks mod for ei22

i just metamorphed a bunch of red cm7 morphs. It worked for the most part, so now I have red progress bars and red volume sliders (and possibly some other things red...haven't checked too thoroughly yet). If you're like me and waiting for a red ei22 theme, these minor red accents might help hold you over, too. here's the sick morphs - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1013757
whoever decides to finally made the red ei22 theme should try to incorporate some of these things.
Well so far i have a few part for the theme

and let me know what yall think for the red theme
its for ei22

[Q] Battery % mod for CM7 theme?

I'm using the Crystal theme for CM7 and It's perfect. Only thing I want to add is a battery % of somewhat of the same color. I know I can use the built in CM settings % but I first wanted to try to get an actual icon on there.
Things I've tried:
Speedometer gauge- all that did was reset the theme to stock, although the battery meter did work
Pulling .png's from another similarly colored theme- only ones I could find were TW themes and besides renaming over 100 files, there's no way to drag and drop them over to the CM theme.
Any other tips outside of editing xml files? Which I don't know how to do.
Edit, the UOT kitchen would have worked great if the theme had all 100 battery .png images. oh well.
Just swap out pngs with a theme you like then re-sign the apk. Legend-X is good and I swapped out Bonsai circles in it.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
I don't even know how to sign an apk Trying to figure it out now.
Yea, I'm really not good with this stuff until I get it done 1 time. I can't figure it out. Oh well.
Grab Legend-x, or another theme with 100 battery images.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Yea I will. I think that's my only option if I want that color and a very thorough, heavily modified theme.
Google CM7 themes. There is a thread that pops up with 300 themes. You just click on each title to see a screenshot and how to download.

I have about 25 on my phone now. For some reason I like the crystal because it looks a little like the blue glass theme for our epics on 2.2 that I used forever ago. I'm going to use the legend-x though, I think.

Here, use this version and set it to default battery, not percent and you get the circle % mod. It will show as Legend-x in theme changer. Thanks to the Legend-x guy Kevin.

Theming help (AOKP)

I want to theme my own ROM's for this phone such as AOKP. I just themed Nova Launcher to all purple. But, I want to be able to create a theme that I can flash in CWM and not just the whole ROM (either works.)
I themed Nova Launcher with GIMP, just by extracting the drawable folders, editing, exporting/replacing, then adding back to the archive and resaving.
Can anyone help me out on creating a theme so I can fully theme a ROM such as AOKP? Or even create one for the theme manager? I can already tell I would get addicted. If anyone wants to help i'd highly appreciate it, so I can slowly get into Android Development
I myself have been wanting to learn how to theme for the theme engine. Didn't really find any tutorials though. I'm pretty handy with Photoshop but know nothing about development. Would be very interested in learning about the theme engine used in CM9, AOKP, CNA, etc.
Just add ur apk to the app folder in this zip. This is a base zip that anyone can use (I took it from Overstew's theme, and erased all of his apps/framework items.)

So I just edit the png's inside the folders I want edited, then move the whole folder into that folder, re-zip, and flash?
Ok so after playing with everything, I update all of the png's I wanted (which still left a lot of blue.. from AOKP). I then moved them all back into the framework-res.apk and moved that back into the archive. I got it to be flashable along with my .apks, but after I flashed it System UI kept force closing, eventually it stopped. I saw a lot of the stuff I themed was actually themed, but there was still a lot of stuff that wasn't. But what causes the force closes on System UI?

If there's any missing pngs on the SystemUI's drawable-hdpi, it'll FC instantly because it cannot find the png require for a certain task. (For example, if you accidentally deleted a signal bar icon, it cannot display what is not there, so it'll FC.)

Ok so, I don't have to change anything besides the framework-res.apk? Do I have to sign it or anything?
Also, I themed nova launcher successfully with just changing png's without any signing. But when I tried to theme Facebook, and then tried to install it, it just kept failing to install?

Same with framework-res. Any images missing will make it fc.
You only need to resign market apps. System apps do not need to be resigned.
only thing that sucks about having a white e4gt with ics... is that the menus clash with the product color lol. not that its that big of an issue, but i came across this theme http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1654546 and am guessing it takes a lot of work to apply a white theme similar to this?
i tried flashing the syk sky theme on my phone just to see what would apply, and the majority of it did; however, there were some conflicts as i expected.
is there any way i could use some of what has already been created with this theme to work with the e4gt correctly? if so, any direction/info would be appreciated.

In case you didn't know, with samoled+ screens you want the most dark pixels as possible to save battery because a black pixel is completely off consuming no power. That being said, a white theme will just completely destroy your battery life...

yeah i know, but i wanted to give it a shot & see what kinda impact it would have first hand. i always have an extra battery on me to swap out haha
ill just deal with what i got and try one with transparency or something. thanks for the response.
This is the absolute best place to learn to theme
