I'm planning to use this guide to flash the phone to Cricket and then have it activated in-store.
Does anyone know what problems I can expect? Obviously the MMS if I do it that way, which I'm 100% fine with. But I'm thinking problems like ROMs. Can I still flash different ROMs? Can I use new modems as they're released? Can I use my current ROM (Blazer, if it matters), or will I need to go back to stock for this to even work?
Anyone with thoughts?

Tomorrow I am going to have my Sprint phone flashed to work on the Cricket network. I just need to understand something. Once this is done is it written to the hardware? If I remove and install the OS several times am I going to have to go and pay to have Cricket flashed on it again? $85 is steep. Right now I am using the DCD ROM, but I may try newer roms in the future. Is there a way I can do this myself? Also will this flash allow the GPS, MMS, and internet work?
Thanks
What phone are we talking about here?
the Sprint mogul. has the dcd 3.2.2 Rom
tried it once without any luck. going back to stock telus ROM at the moment.
has anybody had any success flashing an AT&T modem onto an i747M?
i am using the telus variant
edit: reason i wanted to do this was b/c i was getting some consistent signal drops. after having to go stock telus -> CM10 nightly (8/20), i'll see if i'm still getting any drops. that was the reason i wanted to use an AT&T modem, but if the issue doesn't come back i'll withdraw my inquiry

I'm using 8/18 and I'm not having too many issues. CM has been my daily driver for 2 weeks. I'm on telus as well. I haven't tested LTE, but once I'm back at school I'll figure it out and make sure everythings working smoothly.

CM10 8/20 nightly works great, i'm not getting any of those signal drops i had from before. maybe the phone just needed a full wipe. anyway, i'm not too curious about flashing an AT&T modem anymore. it would be nice to have a choice of modems, but that's definitely the lowest on my list now that there aren't any drops
I am using the LLE8 stock Bell modem even though my firmware is the latest ATT LH1: I did attempt to flash the full LH1 leak including the modem, but lost my IMEI in the process. Seems the modems do not play nice across different carriers, even when the phone is an I747 -- the developers then removed the modem out of the firmware package and the LH1 release installed without any issues. So my experience is that the ROMs are quite compatible, ATT to Canadian users, the source code for the kernel is standard across all SG3 phones according to the developers and the experience of people using kernels irrespective of carrier designation BUT the modem (baseband) does not appear to be cross-carrier friendly. So until a fix is developed and/or one of the Canadian carriers updates their firmware, we are stuck with LLE8 or its equivalent..

yep. i came to the exact same conclusion. i'm not too worried about it; phone takes a few seconds to hop on to LTE where i am, but no big deal
Wondering if this was possible I have been looking at the new JEDI rom however I have tmobile and a ATT branded note 2 (i317) and really looking for the wifi call I onle seen one port and it was this one, but it seems to have quite a bit of trouble still.

Yes gsm is the same. Just flash your modem. Correct?
Sent from my SGH-I317 using xda premium
why use a jedi t-mobile rom, if you have the same for at&t.
you need carriers files

It'll work fine. Just make sure you keep you're running an AT&T modem. The ROM itself shouldn't flash another modem, but if it does, just flash back an AT&T modem. I'm also on T-Mobile using an AT&T Note 2. I even flash the bone stock T-Mobile ROM and it ran 100% perfectly out of the box (because I had an AT&T modem on my device). You can enable AWS 3G/4G via a mod here, by the way if you haven't:

This mod sticks across ROMs, but anytime you flash or reflash a modem, you have to redo the mod.
Currently on Sprint with an Epic 4G Touch. I'm planning to switch to Ting once my contract is over this month to save money. I also wanted to use the E4GT was a back up phone. So i'm looking to buy a used Sprint S3 soon. Just a few questions:
1. Does the S3 have custom recovery baked into the kernel? I'm asking because the E4GT was built that way. I don't know if its just a Samsung thing. My plan with the S3 was to use TWRP as my custom recovery. Would flashing other kernels/ROMs overwrite the custom recovery? Or do I have to flash TWRP every time?
2. Any particular caveats when flashing with the S3 to avoid issues? For the E4GT, we would have to temporarily flash a "safe" kernel/recovery to minimize any risks of bricking when flashing between TW ROMs and AOSP based ROMs. (Its been patched now, thanks to AGAT and other great devs).
2. Any issues with this phone hardware wise that's been a common theme? With the E4GT, there were GPS lock issues, phantom menu button clicks, power button failure after a year or so. Is there anything I should be aware of for the S3, especially if I'm buying a used one?
3. Any one using Ting with their S3? Was activation smooth? Everything working out the box? I know you have to edit the APN's for the MMS to work. 4G LTE fully working?

1. Custom Recovery does not have to be flashed every time you change ROMs.
2a . Same issues with All phones. Read OP thoroughly and follow instructions.
2b. I personally don't have any issues with mine. Buying used... That's up to you
To check before buying.
I'm looking for all the help I can get.
I have a Sprint GS4 mini and I got this for my girl. all my phones I've always picked it up directly at sprint so it was always activated so I wasn't away that I would have problems activating her phone that I bought online.
Trying to be proactive so once I gave her the phone nothing would need to be done. I rooted it and installed a custom rom so I could have the bloatware and everything setup nicely for her.
I found out they can't activate it because of the custom rom and it didn't have the sprint PRL. I know the easy answer would be to flash stock, but the 1 stock file that's floating around online does not work, it crashes in ODIN.
I have the Dev of the ROM working with me but i'm hoping to help him and me by putting this out to everyone to see if anyone has any thoughts or a good stock firmware.
Also is it possible for anyone running SPHL-520 to upload a nandroid w/o Data so I can try to restore. I'm lost on what I can do now.
Thanks guys.
