local music detection - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Guys,a bit of a pinch here,I just transferred my music library, around 1.5gb to my brand new galaxy nexus, and guess what?it won't see them.I tried Google music, double twist, but both apps simply do not see my locally stored music.Google music plays my online music fine, but either player staunchly retuses to see any of my local music.all my music mp3 files are in the music folder.any help here?

This app has a button to start the Android media scanner:

Not sure about the free version but it's really worth the few cents anyway!

As I said,it has been solved, seemed like changing the pPI to 240 Borks up Google music.worth looking into.

Blue NFC is a very very nice app, I will try it with my galaxy nexus and my friend nexus s
tested here with an GN and Nexus S, getting always receiption error ...
looking fine, BT starts on both devices, transfer file, closes BT on both devices,
but error receiption on target device.
normal BT transfer tested and working fine.
will try on 2 GN to see if that works.
I don't know anyone with a GN so can't test

Google music organization

Is there an easy way to rename the music you download/purchase from Google and move it into my own folder so my ocd will calm down? I know what folder it's in but they label the songs as numbers...
On top of being annoyed it's in different places I hate downloading it every time I flash a new rom.

I just manually did it which can be done fairly easily if anyone is curious

Alternate apps for Google Music

Hi
I just got my Galaxy Nexus yesterday. I was going from a phone that had an sd card slot that I could put my music on. I figured I could live with the less hard disc space because I can stream my music from Google music.
That seems to work fine, but the music app is a little light on features. It's not horrible, but coming from Power Amp, it's a little basic.
Is there any other apps that can stream from google music, and have more features, like EQ and such.
Thanks
Wich app...do u need man

Google music still has a private API, so no other app can stream from it.

If you use iTunes too, try double twist. Features are alright and it syncs with your iTunes musics including the playlist that was great coming from the guy who had iPod touch. You can also sync it via wifi but that's extra 5 bucks...

Google play music has a EQ of sorts when playing a song tap the settings dots then sound effects. From there you get a 5 band EQ bass boost and #D expansion thing.
you can use different music managers with google music.... i.e. DSP manager, vodoo etc.

I found Google Music to be very lacking. I uploaded all my music to Amazon and haven't looked back since. Best cloud player and music store for sure. Plus, if you buy just one album per year you get unlimited music storage free (no yearly fee)

I've just uploaded all of my music to Google Music and play via the browser, or I mix it up with Pandora. For local playback I use VLC.
Foobar2000, I love all the options it has. It takes a bit to set up, but it's totally worth it in my opinion.

I hate iTunes but use it because it syncs with TuneSync (which syncs my galaxy nexus and my tablet installed in my car when i get home)
I used foobar for a while but missed recently added playlist, and it was very hard for me to get used too.
I don't think this thread should belong in a Nexus forum. But to answer the question, Foobar2000. Second is Clementine.
*Another for foobar

Yep! Same here. I have all of my songs on iTunes and all my music on iTunes is automatically updated to Google Music. Best of both worlds.
I use Windows Media Player at home to listen to my local library. Pandora when I want to listen to something new. And I use Google Music when I'm on the go.

[Q] Where does Google Play Music store files on the Gnex?

When I pin files to be stored locally on the phone, I can't find them anywhere. There are 2 reasons I care.
1. Every time I flash a new rom, I have to re download the files.
2. I can't get winamp to find the files.
I tried googling it, but the only thing I could find was that it is stored on the sd card under data and play music, but the folder is empty when I check it.
Anyone with any ideas?

Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
I actually found them. Unfortunately, the song files are named numerically so I don't know if I can just transfer them back to that directory after clearing cache. The files are stored in the root directory at:
/data/data/com.google.android.music/cache/music

Google does not let you use them other than on your phone through Google play because you can pirate the songs if they let you transfer them freely. Its copy right infringement
