Some of you might find this amusing.
You know you are getting old when:
You download a new rom, go to install it and get a error on RUU Wrapper.exe. You think it maybe an error in the download so you delete the download and re-download again. Only to get the same error. You do it for the 3rd time and it still errors.
Thats when you remember you rebuilt your laptop a week ago and forgot to re-install dotnetfx 2.0. DOH!!!!

Nah - you're getting old when the first thing you do is copy and rename the RUU_Signed.nbh to the SD Card and hard reset....
You are getting old when you think this device you are downloading ROM for will still work after this long. I want to change but I am out of funds.

You are getting old, when before re-built your laptop you make a list of software to be re-installed...
If you didn't that - you are still young and optimistic!

No. You know you're getting old when PV DVH releases a new ROM and you think - No I won't bother flashing this week. v21 still works fine.
(If that happens again, I think I'll book in at the nursing home)
You know you are getting old when..
.. you had a great reply in mind for this and you can't remember what it was!
You are getting old when you collect all all of these new roms put out and to flash one, forget where you stored them.
You know your getting old when
you get home from work, get the kids to bed, and sit down to start flashing , testing and cooking and start to fall asleep before 10pm!
You know your getting old when you start worrying your going to brick your phone rather than just flashing away like crazy
you're getting an old chef when you release rom everyday, build them, uploading , and forget to try them

Greetings fellow Friends from Galaxy
I just moved myself from the HTC Magic section to this one.. It was quite a jump, the Galaxy S Camera and 4inch screen are AWESOME =)
I have a few noob questions that I don't want to spread through many posts, so i've chosen to get them all here, without polution this forum section. Also they might come in handy for future Galaxy S buyers!
My phone is: 2.1-update1 @ I9000XXJF5
Question #1
Well at first glance everyone's trying to fix the "LAG PROBLEM"... I haven't noticed any lag!! What are we talking about? If its a fix.. i want it too
Click to collapse
the lag problem does not accure instantly after startup, it takes a while to do so.
Question #2
The phone came with Android 2.1, but at samsung-firmwares.com and at this dev section of the forum, i saw the JP3 Froyo release. How stable is this? Is it already a daily driver or a total beta? As an Android lover, i'd love to have the latest
Click to collapse
this release is, lets say, alpha quality, however some do use it daily and seems to be stable so far, but the jit is broken, so dont expect it to be faster than eclair
Question #3
I've used the One Click rooting solution and then the ROM Manager Clockwork to boot into clockwork rom and make a full-system backup. In my HTC Magic i had the recovery ROM (Amon_RA) flashed into the internal phone memory, so even if i didn't have a ROM installed, i was ALWAYS able to boot into recovery. That was a safety plus. How can i flash the Clockwork Recovery directly to my phone, without the ROM Manager? I'd feel more secure if i could count on recovery even if, for example, i flashed a non-working system ROM.
Click to collapse
you can run the clockwork recovery from original recovery by simply running it´s update.zip, this does in fact load the clockwork recovery into memory
Question #4
So what is YOUR favourite ROM? My stock has some unwanted apps, and even worse, it's Eclair. I'd like to switch soon, but i don't know these Galaxy S ROMs Tell me what's the best ROM for you!
Thanks guys, XDA is indeed the #1 place for mobile stuff
Cheers

If JIT is broken, the rest of new 2.2 features can be achieved through Market tools... I'll stick to 2.1 then. By the way, where's a CLEAN 2.1 Rom? this one has lots of service-provider tools... They suck.

Now That's a fix! So i just have to keep my update.zip of Clockwork Rom in INTERNAL SD CARD so that anytime, anywhere, i just have to perform update.zip and the Clockwork will boot ONCE from RAM and them be cleared at next boot, right?

Can you point me to a location explaining the issue?
I've seen the fix but i'd like to understand if the bug exists in every kernel, since is a file-system related bug.
Thanks

I dunno about you but HACKECLAIR surfaced the day I got my phone so I thought it might be destiny, or you know just a co-incidence.

Give it a try, it clears out the stock rubbish and leaves it in a folder on ur sd card to install later if you need it.

Hello everyone, I'm using an old version of Paranoid Android (2.10, cm10 rc0) I didn't have the time to update or to care about rooting since then. Few months earlier my phone started to lag really, really bad. Applications take hours to open, recent apps an hour to show up, etc.. And you can't know how annoying it is. I tried deleting all my unused applications but in vain. Hopefully someone can help me out with this, thank yo !

Oh man.. Could you send me a PM liking a few bug free ROMs that aren't too hard flashing and require a new boot loader? Thanks!

Hi, I'm using this ROM about two weeks ago, and I are going great. My congratulations to the developers.
* I installed two updates already with the flashing of the boot, of course, in all I have a problem, if I turn on the phone with the charger plugged in, the touch screen does not work, but I draw the battery not working again.
* Besides this last upgrade does not work:
"cm-11-20140304-UNOFFICIAL-ace"
Keeps saying the phone:
"The process com.android.phone has stopped"
And obviously you have to restore to previous version.
I trust them to fix it. Thank you very much to all.
Stay tooned on the topic in Dev section as you will see it's being worked on.

I did. It works way better than any stock I have tried. It have very clever optimisation software/tweaks on board. Keep in mind I have a 1gb version. No gapps so u have to flash your own. I think even if flash by the local upgrade method will still wipe the phone. But it is still root able by eroot. Xposed will give u a bootloop btw.....

Wow. You bought another one? Since you said its repaired under warranty, ive been using mine since january last year, bricked on march this year, sent it to SC and they replace me with new unit on 1st april for 300myr. Never regret using this monster, though my friend force me to sell it since its almost 2 years with it he said and i should move on with new one..haha what a lame excuse..
........
I have been using many custom roms and the beat choice was by kangvip. Everything seem functional and fast. Miui roms are good but for me adjusting the large icons through the build.prop has some side effects especially the smoothness. Well since we had a new B930 update, i guess devs will work their hands on customised it..

Nope, still using the old unit, with new motherboard and new battery which was replaced by the service centre in May. As far as i hv using roms for my mate, Hyd52Rom is the best one.
Stable and definitely smooth with fast response.
Everything works on it even the latest beta xposed frameworks.

If I have the 2GB version I will go definitely go with hyd52Rom. But me having the 1GB seriously impairs the performance and multitasking. B930 helps me to take care of that by selectively shutting down apps after screen is off .. But I guess greenify does that as well.
