7+ hours of battery watching video - Acer Iconia Tab A100

So, I got my a100 yesterday and wanted to see how much I could squeeze out of it. I manage to get 11+ out of my a500 on a plane trip, so I figured I could be effective here as well. Before I go any further let me say, I tweaked mine for watching movies on long plane rides. Meaning low light, no wifi type scenarios.
Using setcpu I down clocked to 6xx (whatever the preset clock is) and a conservative governor. Then, I set the brightness to about 10%. Then, I used moboplayer and set the in-app brightness to about 15% as well. This is still quite view-able in dark areas, like on a plane with the lights out. I ran the same movie over and over until I reached about 10%. I used a calculator to guess the remaining time left, as I needed the remaining 10% to finish up a few other things. Assuming the last 10% falls at the same rate as the rest, I would be at 7.1 hours of battery life purely watching video. Pretty good if you ask me. Hope this can help somebody in a similar scenario.

This is on par with what I get while reading and playing back music. I use poweramp to playback music off my sdcard, while reading ebooks with Aldiko.
Airplane mode turned on and no wireless on, backlight set to the lowest possible, setcpu set to 312 max, apps zipaligned for lower memory usage, tons of apps frozen from autostart and I get roughly 7 hrs (depending on if I've let it sit around for a bit).

I actually ended up getting 8 the other day with the same settings, pretty happy with that.

I have the brightness turned down to the minimum, no underclocking or anything & this was my result with just general Facebook & Twitter checking as well as this and some ebook reading. Had just plugged it in when I took the screenshot.

Starburst v1.9.8r + Underclock = Great Battery!

Running starburst rom v1.9.8r and its awesome! Thanks phantom for all your work! And thanks to everyone else whose software im using!
Battery life on a few previous roms were a bit low, maby i didnt give my phone long enough to get used to them, but my current set up gives me some of the best battery life I've personally had since before root and starburst v1.8 which were each beast.

Way past my daily charge time and still going strong. connected to wifi a lot, used google navigation for about 90mins of driving, been web browsing a lot/texting/little music/some camera. Nothing spectacular like gaming and videos but my main worry was to make sure i had enough battery at the end of the day to gps back home lol. Dont worry about the few minutes of charging at the end, was showing off netflix through hdmi so kinda needed to have charger plugged in so give or take 2% if you're- why so serious?
Set up:
Sb rom v1.9.8r
LoStKernelExp 1.0.0.8
SetCpu to underclock/undervolt
Viper's LoS Checker v2.1 - default set to check every 2 minutes
ICS green dialer (Idk how that would do anything)
First fully charged phone till blue light, unplugged and turned off, plugged in and let fully charged a few times. Booted straight to recovery and wiped battery data. And yes rebooted and was at 99% but hey.
Also if anyone is worried about performance from underclocking from 1200 to 800, dont be, theres hardly a difference in performance. I play Defender -droidhen- alllll the time and there was absutely 0 performance issues even when using spells and flashy stuff on stage 92. The gps works perfect,no lag between voice and location/distance from next turn (and was on 3g). The single thing i notice is that when on flash heavy web pages, there tends to be a bit more checkerboarding while scrolling up and down, but the pages themselves load up as fast as always.
For the extra bettery life, i think its worth the microscopic performance sacrafice? Anyway I hope this helped anyone wondering about battery life and how I extend my own!
Would love some feedback if anyone is getting better results!
Looks good...still testing tho.
Thanks!

(TIP)Possible battery drain solution for LTE devices.

Like many here I've been having battery drain issues since the day I purchased the Galaxy Nexus. I also purchased the extended battery since day one. I've been reading through every single forum on how to reduce the battery drain and none seems to have worked for me. I've tried switching to wifi, 3g only, no email push, no google+, etc and my phone at 100% battery would lose almost 30% within 2 hours idling. Then I was looking at the settings and I came across the Developer Options/Background process limit and limited my background process from Standard to At most limit to 1 process and my battery has improved tremendously. Prior to making the change the Android OS was using 80+ % on idle (Wifi or 3g didn't make a difference), now it's uses around 20 or less. On idle I'm seeing around 4% or less an hour vs 15% battery drain.
Please remember this may or may not solve YOUR battery drain, but it has definitely helped mine and I just wanted to share with the community on what else you can try.
I've had pretty good results with my battery. I think some of ya'll are either just playing around with it too much or have some energy-sucking apps out there.

Or that you don't have a connection to the data network.
Just say'n. (I do the same thing at night)
I had Wi-fi enabled for 12 hours, and the battery only dropped to around 85%. I have been on 4G for 5 hours now, and the battery is now down to 13%. I'm going to use a Wi-fi/3G combination tomorrow. Oh and I also have my phone rooted/underclocked to 900Mhz.

I've been using it for 3 days and have had no issues. Anyways its as easy as checking the standard limit if you ever wanted to revert back.

Battery issue - Anyone else has same issue?

Hi guys
I've had my HTC 10 for over 2 weeks now, and as I decided to change from iOS to Android the first few days/week the battery would only last me barely 14 hours.
However, the last few days were very impressive with the phone lasting me 2 days and 12 hours with normal usage (no games and not heavy internet browsing).
But today something weird happened as I took the phone in the morning to go to work and at 10:30/11:00 my phone was down to about 60% without me doing anything to it and without a specific reason to it.
I will attach some screenshots to see if anyone had the same problem/issue.
I would appreciate any feedback you may have!

Did you try to restart the phone? Something is keeping your phone awake. A restart every couple of days is always helpful.
Yes, I did.
However, the phone's battery still only lasted until 7 pm. Which is really weird as I literally almost didn't use it...
Will see how it goes today
My battery life did not last very well either when K first got my 10. I'm an HTC lover by the way. In my experience, I've learned you really need to optimize the controls and settings after you purchase the phone to get the most out of your battery. I restrict a lot of app permissions that ask for location so my phone isn't constantly locating itself on GPS. Same for Wi-Fi. I turned off the auto scan for the Wi-Fi cause that absolutely toasts your battery. And then I turn off vibration feedback for touching keys just to conserve even more. I moderately use my phone throughout the day checking mail, texting, browsing the web, facebook, xda, altos adventures, a YouTube video here and there. I get to my office at 4 in the morning, don't get home til 3 pm and my phone still has anywhere from 45 - 60% charge. I think that's great considering my M8 normally has 15 - 20% when I would get home. Just tinker with the controls for a bit. Maybe I'm wrong but this is what worked for me
Yes, I understand and I have done so by restricting must apps and by having the same constant brightness and normally (as it happens today) the phone after 12 hours still has 50% battery. But it was that episode that literally was eating away the battery without me using the phone at all!
Thanks for the replies so far

What's normal battery Temp?

Hey Everyone was wondering what's the normal temperature for the battery? Here's a screenshot I took, I use the app called Devcheck great app by the way, great for getting all the Info you need about your phone.

that temp is good, nothing to worry, everything up to 37/38 without gaming is quite normal. it depends whether you use mobile network and a lot of browsing or so or not.everything starting from 38 and above should be only reached with gaming
No need to worry about temperatures on the phone. It's not like a desktop with variable cooling systems. If battery or CPU is getting hot, it'll throttle to lower temps and will turn off in extreme conditions. Having Android phones since the D1, I've never seen anyone fry their phone from excessive temperature.
IMO, monitoring temperature on phones is as useless as ram cleaners. Let the software do it's job.

What's the normal Temperature of the Battery?
Room temperature obviously!
Everything else i abnormal. Like when you activate the screen and use your phone. This uses energy and causes the battery to become warmer.
Using a LOT of energy like Recording 4k or playing a Game which uses up to 8W will increase battery temperature.
1. the 8W Electrical energy get turned into 99.9% thermal energy, the SoC is between battery and Display, facing the battery IIRC.
2. The Battery being used causes itself to heat up.
So what is the Limit? Around 45°C The phone starts throttling CPU clocks and GPU clocks way earlier. Around 38°C is the first one and around 41-42° he next one. But depending on your surround temperature (Jep, Texas Sun at noon and 35°C Outside temperature do not help....) your phonebattery will not get hotter than 48°C
Is this safe? Jup easily, the battery iself should be specced about 50-60°C Maximum usage temperature. Didn't really take a look at the details in the battery in the disassembly video^^
But as Richii already mentioned, your phone does this all on its own. Don't have to care at all
It's note a Note 7 ^^

Question Z FOLD 3 Warm on top right side while using Samsung notes

Hi everyone,
I am just wondering if you guys notice that the phone gets warm when doing light task such as note taking in Samsung notes or opening messaging app?
Also the battery life of this phone is not good, with disabling everything I still cannot get thru a day.

Nope, my SOT is around 5 - 6 hours, but my standby battery is not good enough, I cant get thru 12 hours oh furthermore the number for full charge only last for 10 hours, is my device faulty?

That is where the SoC is, the 888 is notorious for being a hot chip.
I was having the same issue with over standby battery life. I would get 12 hours at most on a full charge. After disabling wifi and BT scanning under location/improved accuracy and then also using bixby routines to put phone in power save mode when folded shut I was able to get 32 hours with 5 hours screen on time.
I just leave Power Saving Mode on all the time, tweaked so that brightness doesn't dim, and 5g doesn't turn off. So the only difference is CPU is down by 70%. I haven't noticed any degradation in performance apart from longer battery life.
