[Q] how to unlock bootloader of a branded xperia arc

hy guys
i have orange branded xperia arc
i want to remove its branding, for that purpose i flash the 3.0.A.2.181 generic firmware in it using flash tools... the orange logo disappear while its starting but
still i have a problem
and that is...
i want to connect my phone with computer to unlock its bootloader but while i holddown the menu button and connect the usb cable its turn on and start charging.
no blue light notification comes
so please tell me how can i totally remove its banding or how i can connect it in that mode
or simply i can ask how can we connect a branded phone in fast bootloader mode
At this point in time, we are not able to enter into fastboot mode with a sim-locked phone. Changing the firmware or unlocking the sim doesn't allow us to enter fastboot. Right now all we can do is wait
And what about a branded Arc WITHOUT sim lock?
Is that one bootloader unlockable (after debranding)?

unlock or locked

Hello everyone
I Bought a SE Arc several months ago. when a bought it, the seller install new firmware to support Persian language. I don't know, what does he exact do. So i am not sure he unlocked my bootloader or not. Is there any simple way to make sure my boot loader is locked or not?
I want update my phone with PC campanion, and I am afraid it brick my phone because I am not sure it is locked.
Thanks in advance.
If you have searched a little, you'd know.
There are plenty of threads about it.
And btw: *#*#7378423#*#* -> service menu.
Thank you but there is something wrong with my phone. I can't check rooting status in service menu.
I checked *#*#7378423#*#* -> service menu --->service info--->configuration
But there is no rooting status! Only IMEI,IMEI software, Available speech codec and working band. there is not " bootloader unlock allowed: yes(no)".
what's the reason?
Does PC companion recognize unlocked bootloader and update it? I mean if boot loader is unlocked and use PC companion to update it, it will update and then the phone will brick or it will not update at all and do not brick?

Bootloader unlock allowed Yes after official ICS update

I have Xperia Arc LT15 with GB 2.3.2 before & found out using *#*#7378423#*#* that I cannot unlock bootloader. I was disappointed as I was using CM7 & CM9 on my HTC Wildfire & ZTE Blade. So I decided to go with the official ICS update. But when I checked after the update it says "Bootloader unlock allowed : Yes". So the question is can I unlock bootloader now & install CM9 or other custom ROM using this (http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Sony_Ericsson_Xperia_Arc:_Full_Update_Guide) method?
Yup, you can unlock your bootloader.
Prince
Testpoint it and dont loose drm data. Easier to relock also.
Typed down from the sky with sexy LT15i
+1 for the testpoint method of unlocking. It is the safest and best.
Testpoint method advantages:
1. You keep DRM keys
2. OTA updates with S1tool unlock, I'm unsure?? It is safe with SEtool (paid) testpoint unlock, coz I've done an OTA myself after getting SEtool unlock done by jinx13.
3. No warranty loss.
4. Even carrier locked phones can be unlocked, although this is usually a paid service using SEtool instead of S1tool.
Sony official method might be free, but it is terrible because:
1. You lose DRM keys
2. You could wind up with a bricked phone if you are on an official Sony rom and install an OTA update.
3. It borks your warranty.
4. Carrier locked phones can't be unlocked at all this way.
Bootloader unlock allowed : Yes
it mean you can unlock your phone
Whaaaaaat?!!nofake? Updating the arc with official ics unlock bootloader?! Do it works for all the arcs?
Was it a piece of luck?
Plz respond quick I using jj's rom so I wont test before I ll be sure that it works...
Sent from my LT15i using XDA
releasing mechanism so at first sight, but not unlocked

[SOLVED][Q] Bootloader unlock allowed became No

Update: I just went on and tried to unlock the bootloader and succeeded. Seems that this was just some display error.
Hi everyone, I've had a weird issue pop up.
When I bought my unbranded, unlocked ZL, I immediately checked if the bootloader could be unlocked, and it was (Bootloader unlock allowed: Yes). I decided not to unlock it yet, as there is no point to do it before CM10.1 gets camera support.
A few days ago I updated the phone to .434 (via PC Companion) and while checking other software info in the service menu I noticed that the bootloader cannot be unlocked anymore (Bootloader unlock allowed: No). What?
The new software is also unbranded and everything.
What can be the problem? And will it allow unlocking if I revert to .350 later?

Seems strange! I updated my ZL to .434 as well but my BL unlock allowed still says yes. Let's see what other users say. You may try flashing .350 firmware (of ur region) using flashtool, and see if it helps. See link below for screenshots.

Install custom ROM or root with out unlock bootloader

Hi my Sony Xperia xa2 say bootloader unlock no is there anyway to force software or at least root with out unlock bootloader thanks
This is not possible. In order to flash anything to the device, the bootloader must be unlocked. The whole point of the bootloader lock is to prevent flashing anything; firmware is updated via OTA.
