general questions - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hi guys,
since 3 days I own a wonderfull GN ....
....but I have some issues (not rooted yet):
1. Is there no Standard Notepad on GN?
2. No Office-App like Polaris?
3. No File-Manager on GN?
4. Which program I could use on my notebook for Backups etc. (like iTunes)? Kies doesn't work.
5. The Stock-Music Player does not support 'folders' or am I to stupid to find this function?
wtf all I loved on my SGS2, does not exist on this mobile!
Thanks a lot

I guess that's the advantage of getting a Vanilla Android....doesn't come with pre apps installed
For notes I use color note
For office app use Quick office Pro
File Manager use Astro or root explorer
For backups as long as you have a gmail account everything is backed up to the cloud
The stock music player is Google music, where all the musics are on the music cloud... if you want download Android music player from the market and use it as a regular player, thats what I've done

Thanks
I tried to find 'quickoffice pro' but can´t find it for my GN.

If you can't find it on market, google it
Quick office pro apk
Download and instal

List of "good" apps

My list from a few other threads, but very relevant here since everyone is probably wondering what "app" to get.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AnAJoa0-ynONdGJiVDRSQ0p4VGtCaklESmtEbkJzNUE
edit: you guys can add to it ^_^
Great list, a few I couldn't live without:
Badass Battery, 4.7
Mobi Calculator, 4.8
FX File Explorer, 4.7
N7 Player, 4.7
Gtasks, 4.5
DIGI Clock Widget, 4.6
Palmary Weather, 4.5
GasBuddy, 4.6
YouAreHere, 4.7
Navfree, 3.8
Widgetsoid2, 4.6
I've found some of the widgets by this dev are excellent and he supports them very well if you mail him.
The Pure Grid calendar widget has options for tablet size widgets, multiple calendars, colour coding etc.
Also imho HDR Camera+ should be up there with ZoomFX
OP - amazing list!
That is a very clean and comprehensive list of apps you have OP. Thanks for posting... I am definitely going to try some of them out.
Has anyone tried Autodesk Sketchbook Pro on the N7?

Here's my Android tablet list of "best of breed" apps:
GTasks - syncs with Google Notes, has reminders, great widgets. Augments my calendar for many things. Free.
Dark Knight - good tablet chess app. Free+no ads.
AndroXplorer - first-rate file explorer with CIFS support. Free (minor advert), but I bought Pro with my Play credit. Better than all the others I've tried and has proper tablet interface.
SuperSU - fine-grained control of root permissions. Free+no ads, Pro has some sweet features, bought it.
AdAway - prevents ads from even downloading. Probably the biggest performance booster you can get. Free, no ads. This is one of the killer apps that will hook you on Android.
System Tuner - you won't believe the crap that starts up automatically. Fix it with this free app (minor ads). Pro is worth it.
AnkiDroid - Can't believe it's free w/o ads. Flashcards app to study nearly anything, many study decks available. Better than the $25 Anki iPad app which I bought.
Cool Reader - ebook reader, lots of useful features. Free and ad-free.
Aldiko Pro - slick reader, works with most formats, worth the $3.
Apps I'd like but which don't work yet:
Moon+ Reader (incl Pro) is broken on Jelly Bean, doesn't show text. When it works I'll buy Pro again.
Encore Learning Platform - free, no-ads, flashcards app.
If I could have clicked the "Thanks" icon 10 times for supplying us with this great database I would have. But I couldn't so THANK YOU X 10!

MX Player is a sweet video player.
ADW launcher is still a good launcher. I use it on my ICS Transformer. Apex is my favorite though.
WiFi File Explorer is easily the most handy app for transferring data between devices.
XDA App!!!
Rom Manager
Word Feud - online scrabble clone
Android Pro Widgets for scrollable Twitter and Facebook
Thumb Keyboard
Delver - awesome 8bit Dungeon crawling FPS
Sixaxis PS3 Bluetooth Controller pairing.
Tango for video chatting
Netflix and Redbox
Deadly Dungeons - another dungeon crawling game I found today.
Bluetooth OnCall - Enables/Disables BT for calls. Great for headset users to save battery.
DailyHoroscope - its always spot on.
Notification Toggle for CM style notification menu power toggles.
I the above apps are my core apps.
Also my transformer used Polaris Office which I really liked too.
Some apps were mentioned above. I think most weren't mentioned.

I was able to add a few in.
So, for some reason I can only pull this doc up at work. Now my problem is I can see where it's seperated into sections, but the apps aren't organized into their respective sections, they are in alphabetical order. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks,
Josh

- Kingston office free ( better than ThinkFree office and Office suite free and pro )
- Dropbox ( link phone and pc and upload photos and videos automaticly and share with others!! )
- Camera360 or other thirdparty camera app ( why? cuz in my opninion less buggy then stock )
Thats all for now!

Just wondering can we put together a list of apps, and bloatware. That can safely be removed after your device is rooted.

I don't know all app's but after I flashed the last time I made a full backup of all app's using titanium backup.
Then I uninstalled everything I don't need with titanium.
Almost all Google apps and all s-app's.
I believe there are still a lot of background app's left with are now unneeded.
I believe I've seen somewhere in the dev.section a clean Rom.
Sorry for my bad English
Look at my rom.. X-Note zero edition (post n. 2) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=43118095
Removed almost all bloatware and s note is in a separate zip file…
You can look into the rom zip and remove what you do not need in your device… or you can flash my rom

[Q] Uninstalling unwanted applications that come default with tab?

Hy all, I just want to know is there anyway I can uninstall applications in my tab that come default while buying it. Because there are many trash application's which I don't use such as Internet, my files, drop box, play video, etc.. These came by default in my tab when I bought it and I don't need them so that I can free up some memory for other apps and I don't know why there more than one pre installed app in samsung tab such as chrome and internet, music player and play music and also chat on app. If there is any way to uninstall these apps it would be greatly helpful, thank you!!!

The only way to remove them would be to root your tablet. Otherwise you can not remove them.
Once rooted you could use Titanium Backup to remove certain programs or using a root explorer delete apks manually.

[Q] Aldiko on Tab Pro 8.4

hello, I recently upgraded from a 7.0 plus to a Tab pro 8.4. So far i really like the new tablet but I am having trouble getting aldiko (paid) to work properly. The first issue i have is that when opening a book it refuses to show pictures, the book cover, or any other graphics. I have reset the app, cleared the data, uninstalled and reinstalled the app and the problem persists. After the reinstall I also have the widget dissapearing and it refuses to come back as well. I have tried to get a hold of Aldiko support but i have yet to hear anyhting from them. Anyone have any ideas as to how this might be able to be fixed?
Thanks

I run Aldiko paid without a problem, but I only use Acrobat files (mostly created myself) and they are all stored in memory and not on the sdcard. Could either of these be the source of your problems?

I run mostly epubs and PDF files. All files are stored on internal memory. I am not rooted at this time, but thinking that might be an option.
For the widget issue somehow the app was moved to the SD card after moving that back the widget worked fine.
*Edit* I just recieved an email from Aldiko Support. It seems that some models of Samsung Devices (8.4 Pro included) have a compatibility issue with the RMSDK rendering engine.
Aldiko doesn't work for me either (Tab Pro 8.4),
I switched to "Moon+ Reader Pro", for ePub and PDF.

That's what i did also.

having the same issue. Typically the start of chapter page is blank, as it'll have a little graphic or whatever. everything works fine on my note2, asus transformer, etc etc
just the tab pro is being stupid
changing to a different app isn't that practical, as I pretty much rely on aldiko's ability to sync reading progress and library between devices
I had the same problem. Try moon reader. Fixed most of the issues. I use epub
